Kabul under attack! This is the only safe city in Afghanistan?

Taliban code of conduct

NATO convoy attacked outside Kabul 7 civilians killed many wounded. It is a good thing the Taliban puts civilian safety first. Remember Mullah Omar's code of conduct! Taliban issues code of conduct that tells fighters to limit suicide attacks and avoid civilian deaths Good thing huh?

Multiple rockets fired in Kabul dead and dying everywhere Good thing those civilians matter!

violence will get worse as promised by head of UN commission Despite the uptick in violence and the stifling heat people by the thousands still risk life and limb to listen to popular Presidential rival Abdullah Abdullah.

Taliban publicly execute woman

Kabul under attack Everything important is being hit, Presidential Palace, Government headquarters, police headquarters, supply lines. Good thing Kabul is the only secure city in Afghanistan. Yeah right! What do you think about those upcoming elections and the security of the people now?

if they can hit Kabul they can hit anywhere. I have read that Afghani government is asking journalists not to report violence as not to deter the people from voting, all the people have to do is look out of their windows look at the billowing smoke. What a mess.

Well you think maybe it's time to go to a mail in ballot there?
Hey didn't Cheney say they were in the 'last throws"? Oh that's right that was 6 years ago. My bad.

Is this all going according to plan. They've had years to get it right. I'm sure once again we are loved by all in this country. I'm so disgusted!!

Hi Holte
Funny but immediately when I started reading your comment I was thinking if you can make it here you can make it anywhere!
I heard that this morning and the threats to Journalists but at least local Journalists vowed to report it saying they owed it to the people to report if they are in danger and I agree. They at least can not be kicked out of the country only jailed maybe.

That is a hell of an idea but can they even get mail through? They are pretty backwards. They are where we were in 1776 and the reason the electoral College was set up as people could not get heard or even communicate readily!

Tom I have to agree! Our hands are so dirty everywhere not just in Afghanistan. Tomorrows subject Africa!

You mean there ever was a *safe* city in Afghanistan!?!

Hi Karen
Yeah, the Taliban are playing. They are born for war and are having a ball. I see no good here.

Well, a code of conduct is partly PR, partly an attempt not to loose control over the organization.

Reality shows how badly they need it.
Do they have any COs in charge of anything?

No wonder they have to recrute kids, they probably do butcher each other off behind the scenes... that is if their crappy rusky-trash doesn't do it first...

Hi Sarah
It is all pr! They do not care who they kill as long as they get us out of there and I have to say I don't blame them.
Did you see the carnage in Baghdad today? Last I heard 99 dead and many hundreds wounded. Bush knew total civil war would be the result and then it would spread throughout the entire middle east then the world. This is still just barely beginning!

You need to remember we trained them so they know how we operate. That's one thing we need to close down. What's it called? The College of the Americas where we train "troops" to be terrorists. It always seems to backfire on us.

A little while ago, when the fight was against the Russians, almost the very same "Talibs" were called Mujahaddin, Freedom fighters, Resistance...and they were, as far as I know, financed and supplied partly from Pakistan, and partly from the US.

Public support in Europe for the front in Afghanistan is dwindling, and in Iraq, the mission is definitely not over, although the "coalition" is now unilateral!
I guess the next step is to see which candidate gets elected, but rightly or wrongly, one doubts that the Talibs/insurgents/freedom fighters are yet ready to desist.

Demeur they like everyone else we go up against know our past and how we operate or don't too well!

Hi Landsker
You are plus we supplied weapon and advisers to the Mujahaddin. The civil war Bush started in Iraq is barely start and it will encompass the entire middle east then the world. That was a given Bush and Cheney ignored from day one. As for who gets elected, I hope it is Abdullah but I do not think it will make a difference in the outcome either way.
