World Looks To Isolate Libya's Gaddafi as Ex-Libyan Justice Minister Forms Caretaker Govt. in East

live: Libya revolt

World Looks To Isolate Libya's Gaddafi, Britain has revoked the diplomatic immunity of Colonel Muammar Gaddafi after the UN agreed to a range of sanctions against Libya amid the growing unrest.

Libya, security forces said they have switched sides and joined the opposition, which took to the streets today. Several cities are now under the control of the opposition.

Who is propping up Gaddafi?

Armed men opposed to Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi are in control of Zawiyah, about 50 km (30 miles) west of the capital Tripoli, on Sunday and their red, green and black flag flew above the town.

Libya's divided capital: Face to face with Gaddafi's militiamen. This is a divided city, of contrasting moods: the mob escaping at the airport and the frenzy of those who remain. But in everyone's eyes you can sense the ferocity of recent days.

Ex-Libyan Justice Minister Forms Caretaker Govt. in East

The revolutionaries are more defiant than ever, I just hope what I learned as a little kid does not happen here as I expect it will. Be careful what you ask for you may get it and even more pointed, you know what you have but you don't know what you're going to get!

Who knows what else he has but he has tons of mustard gas. I refuse to believe that a deal making him give that up was not part of the asinine deal we had made with the mad man in recent years. Mustard gas was outlawed after WW1 but you know Kaddafi will use it on his own people. I hope those on the front lines of this revolt at least have gas masks. Tripoli braces for battle as Gaddafi digs in

As Battles Continue Libyan leader Colonel Gaddafi has started arming his civilian supporters to quash dissent, as British and Irish nationals in Tripoli plead for help from the international community.

TERRIFIED Lybians were preparing for an escalation of violence as embattled leader Muammar Gaddafi continues to cling to power. I heard him threaten to throw open the doors to all his armories letting people arm themselves to the teeth. This scum is a frigging mad man! I wish Libya and the Government thye have lined up to replace him well.

In the Anthrax lie the smoking gun was smoke and mirrors as investigation finds evidence inconclusive, we knew it was a lie

Researchers say they have no reason to believe federal scientist Bruce Ivins was not involved in mailing letterscontaining anthrax that killed five people -- but they find some cracks in the conclusions the FBI based on the scientific evidence. About damn time now what? Those phony attacks came right after Bush was turned down for the so called Patriot Act. What a coincidence!

Remember when they first tried to blame it on terrorist? When I first heard the guy they suspected in the Anthrax attacks suddenly committed suicide I didn't know what to think of it but after I heard the Government's excuse that the scientist was testing his cure for the virus that was why he did it, I got very suspicious. I mean cut the crap! Suicide, how convenient! Another set up in the lie we are living under this Nazi Administration.

Think about all this! Friends say a scientist who killed himself amid an anthrax investigation fit many stereotypes, but biological terrorist was not one of them. People who knew Bruce Ivins recall a friendly, helpful man whose neighbors had no reason to suspect him of wrongdoing; an eternal graduate student with ill-fitting clothes and an awkward social manner; an apolitical egghead too busy with his work to carry out the crimes the FBI suspected him of. Sources have told CNN that Ivins knew he was about to be charged in connection with mailing spores of the deadly bacteria anthrax to a number of congressional offices and media outlets in autumn 2001. Five people died, including two postal workers, and more than a dozen people became ill. No one has been arrested in the case.

Sources told CNN the government planned to seek the death penalty against Ivins, but he had not been charged with a crime at the time he died. Ivins, 62, worked for more than 30 years as an anthrax researcher at Fort Detrick, Maryland, home of the U.S. Army's Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases. He co-wrote a paper only weeks ago outlining the effects of a drug on anthrax in mice, one of dozens of papers in his career. Ivins was also a member of the American Red Cross and a musician at his church, St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife, a son and daughter, two brothers and his mother.

People who knew him were shocked to learn of his death and the possible criminal charges. "Ivins was as mild as they come," said Luann Battersby, a former microbiologist who worked with Ivins at Fort Detrick. She remembers a man who wore slightly ill-fitting trousers that revealed his white socks -- a man who never grew out of habits from his years as a graduate student. "He continued to live the lifestyle of a grad student, no frills," Battersby said. Norm Covert, who worked with Ivins until retiring in 1999, remembers the scientist as "a brilliant man, very intense with his work." "We're looking at a man with a distinguished 30-something-year career, unparalleled and known around the world," Covert said. "His career and his reputation are trashed and the FBI still hasn't said what they have on him." This is another set up in the lie we are living today

* The Governments excuse for all this is absolute BS! The government's working theory — that brilliant but troubled Army scientist Bruce E. Ivins released the anthrax to test his cure for the toxin — answers some of the questions, perhaps, but many details remain unclear. "I think the FBI owes us a complete accounting of their investigation and ought to be able to tell us at some point, how we're going to bring this to closure," said former Senate Democratic leader Tom Daschle of South Dakota, whose office received a letter containing the deadly white powder in 2001. "It's been nine years, there's a lot of unanswered questions and I think the American people deserve to know more than they do today." Ivins' unexpected emergence as the top — and perhaps only — suspect in the anthrax attacks follows on the heels of the government's exoneration of another Army scientist in the case. No kidding, the guy being a mild mannered recluse was an obvious target to cover the Governments real role in the anthrax attacks!

* Responding to reports about Ivins the Justice Department said only that "substantial progress has been made in the investigation" . "We need to know exactly how Mr. Ivins was involved, if he was involved, how this relates to the case and information that so far has been withheld from the American people ought to be provided," Daschle said. "And I think it should be soon." Bennet Bolton, a friend of the first anthrax victim — Robert Stevens — was suspicious about Ivins suicide and whether the government will disclose what happened. "I don't think this guy was involved," Bolton said, questioning what led investigators from his dead friend — a tabloid photo editor in southern Florida — to the scientist at the Army's biological warfare labs at Fort Detrick, Md.It's a lie, Congress kept in the dark for a reason

I want to say this is just the latest example of the lie we are living today!

Live: Libya revolt and the latest horrendous developments

Live: Libya revolt

Defense Secretary Robert Gates, in what he said is his final address to the cadets at the U.S. Military Academy, warned Friday against the United States getting involved in another major land battle. Gates remarks contrasted with some in America who are pushing for the U.S. military to take a more active role in other places like Libya.

Libya's UN ambassador calls for tough sanctions as the UN Security Council has rarely seen anything like it, with hugs and embraces after an impassioned speech. The emotional address reduced its speaker, Libya’s UN ambassador, to tears as he denounced the man he called his friend and his brother. He said he initially “could not believe” Muammar Gaddafi’s troops were firing on protesters and called on sanctions now to be imposed.“Please United Nations, save Libya,” urged Abdurrahman Mohamed Shalgham.

Finally, ignored but true: Gulf spill's effects 'may not be seen for a decade'

Gulf spill's effects 'may not be seen for a decade' It is nice to hear at least a glimmer of the truth but I hate to tell them, even that is too optimistic, 50 years to see the brevity of a catastrophe that will last hundreds of years. Fact!

Oh no! Baby dolphins dying at 10 times annual average in Gulf Coast

Despite the lies the Gulf is as bad as we knew it was:

There is more than good reason for people that live in the Gulf area to be suffering of depression, worried about their future and ever fishing again, and contemplating starting over elsewhere. Unless they plan on drilling for oil they better start packing while they are still healthy and despite the lies that the shellfish, fish, and shrimp are fine do not touch it period!

I watched a program on cnn and the shrimpers were being forced to go out because of their financial positions and they have families. They found much smaller catches and were concerned their catches were edible of even keepable. They were seeing 3 inch oil balls everywhere and were being warned not to tell anyone. I hope you watched the above video. Trust it, it was independent of BP and Government lies. It was done by University of South Florida.

Gulf oil plume extends 21 miles from sourceand BP reduced the size of the "vessels of opportunity" program, fishermen who work in more remote areas are expressing concern about oil they have been spotted in places where boats have not been deployed and they are being told to keep quiet! The oil is not breaking down as they say.

All the way from the deep water horizon to 40 miles south of Panama City they they discovered what they described as a constellation of microscopic droplets of oil and dispersant killing phytoplankton the basic building block of the entire life of the sea. It was headed to Desoto canyon an area critical to all sea life for commercial and sport fishing and this was months ago!

The Government is still lying saying the sea and the fish will break it down and BP is still denying it. I am very troubled for everyone there in particular my sons and grandchildren. I better reiterate the residents very real concerns for those that missed it as we are getting closer to the whole picture and the awful truth:

As we have been saying for many months, the gulf is dead for fishing they might as well destroy the rest of the earth looking for their frigging oil. At this point it is human life there itself I am concerned about, You know that mess is evaporating and will come down with the rain on crops and in drinking supplies. I wish they would stop their lying!

This will be the worst oil disaster in the world because of where it is, set aside the dispersant added in. This already is the nightmare scenario they are not talking about. You really have to question what it is they are trying to correct with this so called corexit they poured in the gulf to kill everything? Us the eaters who do not matter? The little people, oh the small people!

We do not matter and instead of doing the right thing for the people and the gulf they are going to lie until once again the awful truth becomes undeniable and they will just act surprised. WTF?

The people in the Gulf might as well keep drilling for oil because their fishing is going to be dead for generations if we are around that long. This is of epic and Biblical proportions. This is life changing, this is planetary changing. Oil swallow, Jean Michal Cousteau, all the special clean up methods aside will be worthless as Billions of gallons of oil and 2 million gallons of deadly dispersant make the trip around the Gulf stream and not only destroy the gulf but diluted or not alter the entire food chain around much of the world.

Their lives are altered forever and they know it! I feel sorry for the likes of my son whose health is sacrificed in wars but him and all our military in the gulf where we have a heavy multi branch presence will be kept there and their long term health mental and physical will be sacrificed. The people who live there along with military families should look at moving elsewhere. They have resumed swimming there and they will pay with their health!

Iraq's role in the New Middle East Disorder

Iraq: key facts and figures

Baghdad diary: Search for power

Live: Libya and Arab unrest

Tens of thousands of protesters turned out in cities across the Middle East on Friday to protest the unaccountability of their leaders and express solidarity with the uprising in Libya. Hundreds of Thousands Protest Across the Mideast

Demonstration turn violent in central Baghdad

Protesters Turn Out Across Iraq, thousands of Iraqis have taken to the streets across the country to protest against corruption and a lack of basic services. So far 6 killed in their day of rage

Hundreds of demonstrators converged on a square in central Baghdad on Friday as part of an anti-government rally inspired by uprisings across the Middle East and dubbed the "Day of Rage." The Iraqi capital was virtually locked down, with soldiers deployed en masse across central Baghdad

We have been shoring up the Dictator's in the Middle East for years. We turned our heads as to their abuse of their people as long as they supported us and did our bidding. For now the Egyptian people seem to have won and are very happy. All they want now is Democratic elections to elect the leader they want in their new Democracy. I hope it works out that way.

Egypt's Defense Minister Muhammad sayyid tantawi is head of the Higher Military Council that now has control of Egypt. We have strong ties with Egypt's military regime so this sounds pretty good for us. Switzerland announced immediately that they were freezing all Mubarak's and his families assets. Makes me wonder if securing them is one of the reasons Mubarak was holding on. Kaddafi is still ruthlessly holding on and Switzerland has frozen his and his families substantial assets.

The rest of the Dictators in the Middle East have to be very worried about these developments. They just begin with Jordan, Yemen, Iraq, and Saudi Arabia, Iran is on the list too. This all has worked out to be a movement to pick your own leader and destiny. To date the Libyan's are paying the highest price. The rest of North Africa and the Middle East see at least some of the dictators will kill them all in order to keep their fascist agenda on line.

In closing: Bush's intention in attacking Iraq was to get our military back in the Middle East to help Israel establish a safety zone, create a new middle east (dis)order as God told him to, and to establish a permanent middle east presence. I was very concerned that this entire mess in the middle east would take on a life of its own We freed Iran up to instigate for their new order by eliminating Saddam who kept them contained.

The middle east is exploding as we long said it would and anti Israeli anti US forces are trying to use it to their advantage. Israel is nervous as they should be with all their hedging at a real 2 state solution. Across the Arab world, people living under the thumb of repressive leaders are rising up against the rulers who once seemed omnipotent. It is no coincidence these were all American allies! They are not quite sure what they want. But from North Africa to the Arabian Peninsula, they know they want change. And their wrath and their courage are creating a new form of Arab unity.

The goal since we went back into the Middle East has been to see whose version of a new middle east order will prevail. I have faith it will not be Persian Iran's version and not ours but rather a free and Democratic Arabian version whatever shape that may take.

Karroubi dares Tehran to try him publicly

Protesters clash with security forces, who, it is reported, have detained the daughter of Iran's former president, Faezeh Rafsanjani, the daughter of ex-president, Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, has been among those arrested for participating in the protest. Reports of new protests in Iran as Anti-government protesters have gathered in Tehran and other cities to honor two who died during earlier demonstration. This is not good!

The government had warned that it would crack down on any illegal gatherings. What a coincidence that the Fars News Agency, affiliated with the Revolutionary Guards "whose really in charge" warned the public that Sunday's protests would be bloody because "opposition plans to shoot people." That, opposition groups worry, could be an attempt to build a justification for a violent crackdown and you can count on the fact this just gave cover to the IRG and Basij to murder as many as possible..

Iran's opposition has raised the stakes by openly labeling the struggle as a fight against "a religious dictatorship," according to a statement. The statement, endorsed by opposition leaders Mir Hossein Mousavi and Mehdi Karroubi, appears for the first time to give the opposition's goal some clarity after tens of thousands of supporters took to the streets of Iran calling for regime change last Monday. "

The system governing Iran now is neither Islamic nor a Republic. The Islamic Republic has already collapsed at the hands of this regime," said Mr. Karroubi on Friday, in one of his harshest criticisms of the government, according to his website citing a message he sent to supporters through an advisor.

Karroubi dares Tehran to try him, the opposition leader, who is currently under house arrest, says people should get to know the truth. I agree and the whole world should call for a trial!

It's about time! They will never get the truth out to the country though nor do the multiple millions in the IRG and Basij and their millions of fascist followers want the truth out.

As you know, the IRGC was set up to protect the ruling authority after 1979 and are supposed to be controlled By Ayatollah Khamenei authority. I know Ahmadinejad and 2/3 of his first 21 member cabinet are ex IRGC members and that simply reinforces that I am increasingly led to think the IRGC has become the final authority not the Supreme leader.

The Supreme leader is appearing as a puppet needed to keep the religious leaders together and to make it appear that they are still in charge. They have become a major force capable of taking control of Iran and I am afraid nothing less than that is what has happened.Iran is not going to let their fascist agenda be stopped now.

We gave Iran their nuclear start in the fifties they are not going to stop and we will not know where they are till they possess a nuke.

We gave Iran their start in the fifties and once Khomenei returned from exile their efforts to control the middle east and develop nuclear power and weapons began in earnest. As you know, when asked by a journalist how he felt upon returning to Iran in 1979 after 15 years in exile. Khomeini’s curt, one-word reply was “nothing” Whoa! From day one of his return to Iran Khomeini expressed no love for Iran only a love of the atom bomb. The drive even then was to possess a nuclear weapon though that desire is still denied until Iran can get their hands on one.

I have tried to give Iran the benefit of the doubt when they say their nuclear desires are peaceful knowing they could use nuclear power as an energy source for their growing population. I have always asserted that perceived need could be cover for the real goal of developing a nuclear weapon.

The nuclear program of Iran was launched in the 1950s with the help of the United States as part of the Atoms for Peace program. The support, encouragement and participation of the United States and Western European governments in Iran's nuclear program continued until the 1979 Islamic revolution that toppled the Shah of Iran. We are so concerned about Pakistan and Iran today in regard to nuclear abilities and nuclear weapons and security. I was blown away to find out that we built the first nuclear Reactors in both Iran and Pakistan. Nuclear program of Iran - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia atoms for peace

I would have to assume this was after we overthrew the democratically elected President of Iran Mohammad Mosaddeq to install our ruthless puppet the Shah of Iran. We built and supplied Iran's first reactor because we thought we were in control. What the hell is wrong with us? That makes us personally responsible for the 1979 Revolution in Iran, the capture of our hostages, the disaster in the desert after a failed attempt to rescue them, the rise of the Revolutionary Guard, the protesters dilemma, the nuclear issue in Iran today, everything!

You know from numerous discussions here that Iran is involved in every Middle Eastern country not just Yemen, Iraq, and Saudi Arabia where they have corrupted elections for Shiite interests in Iraq, backing rebels in Yemen, and instigating attacks on Saudi oil fields. Bush freed Iran to instigate far and wide and are even training Taliban on their border. Any new actions will only serve to worsen their instigation and cause them to cause chaos everywhere they can and further Bush's total Middle East breakdown Period.

You know, I have long said that Iran’s civilian nuclear program is a cover for their nuclear weapons program. They have been working at this for over 60 years nobody can seriously think anything can stop them without direct confrontation after they have gone this far. That would mean war whether it's Russia, the US or China. All we can hope for is that it is kept limited and not allowed to develop into WW3. Iran is not going to be stopped peacefully or let her agenda be derailed by anyone!

Kaddafi blames Al Qaeda as Libya rebels isolate Gaddafi, seizing cities and oilfields and Ex-minister says Qadaffi will die like Hitler

Live: Libya violence

Libya rebels isolate Gaddafi, seizing cities and oilfields

Libyan leader Col Muammar Gaddafi has told state TV that Osama Bin Laden and his followers are to blame for the protests wracking his country. In his warped mind this is the excuse to step on the protesters as violently as he wants!

The State Department says Libyan officials have told U.S. diplomats that journalists who have entered Libya illegally to cover the violent unrest there will be treated like al-Qaida collaborators. I saw CNN bragging about their first and illegal coverage inside Libya which I do agree with but if Gaddafi harms them that could be the in the US will need to get involved.

Fresh Violence Flares in Libya

As Army units and militiamen loyal to Moammar Gadhafi struck back against protesters who have risen up in cities close to the capital Thursday, attacking a mosque where many had taken refuge and blasting its minaret and opening fire on others protecting a local airport. The assaults ...

In the latest blow to the Gaddafi regime a cousin who is one of his closest aides, Ahmed Gadhaf al-Dam, announced that he has defected to Egypt in protest against the regime's bloody crackdown against the uprising citing "grave violations to human rights and human and international laws.

Libya's regime might have to face international justice for its deadly crackdown on protesters, France's Foreign Ministry said Thursday, as the world's diplomats debated how to pressure Moammar Gadhafi to halt the attacks on his countrymen. The French Foreign Ministry said Libya's fierce ...

That only makes sense as Ex-minister says Gaddafi will die like Hitler

Boehner Says U.S. Default Would Be Finance ‘Disaster’: What happens to the world if and when the U S files for Bankruptcy?

U.S. Speaker of the House John Boehner said that the U.S. default would be a “financial disaster”

America's Impending Master Class Dictatorship Frightening but you can not deny this reality! We are in serious trouble and as I have pointed out for years it was done on purpose and right under our unsuspecting noses! Our real debt including Debt and unfunded liabilities is $120 trillion! Wrap your mind around that!

Those who have followed me over the years know I have often talked about the lie we are living today! I just Googled an example! An Average American Patriot: So many lies today in the lie we are ...

Think about it! What is the world without America? What would happen to the entire world if we were to file for Bankruptcy? China for one would be in anarchy and go under as the country she is today and wants to be tomorrow. I find this all very disturbing because it is laid on Obama's shoulders and being credited with this mess. Unfunded liabilities, ballooning deficit, ballooning debt, it is all Chinese to most of us. One thing I do know is President Clinton ran a surplus inherited by G W Bush. He was even looking at retiring the Debt. Bush changed all that forever!

Bush Cheney Greenspan Rove Gonzales, all the enablers, do not get enough credit for what they did in allowing the moral and financial bankrupting of America. I won't bother you with another link but Michael Whitney did a great piece detailing how Greenspan set it up. Those so called men are heralded as heroes by some. You have to realize they are all benefactors.

I always said Bush or those behind him learned their lessons well and anything they touched would be much worse than a like event in History. During the Depression when Roosevelt was trying to rebuild America we knew it happened on the Republican's watch and who to blame. They also knew and wanted to help fix it not make it worse as Republicans are doing today.

Anyway think back and you will see that everything was done on purpose and especially the timing was no coincidence. Bush and Greenspan kept the collapse off until he was out of office. People say get over it! Move on! However we will never get over it or be able to forget Bush as much as we want as his damage will affect our and the worlds lives forever. No I am not giving that bunch too much credit.

They shaped our future and the future of the whole world like it or not!et over it, not hardly! The debt clock had to be started during Reagan's time because of his success but could only register 9 trillion. Because of Bush's so called success it had to be altered to register 10 trillion. Now the debt is moving so fast it is going virile. 3.8 trillion is our new record budget for next year. How far off can bankruptcy be especially knowing how bad it really is?

Mid-East and North Africa unrest Live, Profile: Muammar Gaddafi

Mid-East and North Africa unrest Live, Profile: Muammar Gaddafi Amid Reports of Bodies on Tripoli Streets as Officials Quit in Protest. I listened to Gaddafi the ruthless killer yesterday. He said we gave drugs to the protesters and he is going to fight the dogs "us" to the death. He is the mad dog on drugs!

Mid-East and North Africa unrest Live

Gaddafi vowed to fight until the last drop of his blood had been spilt rather step down, describing anti-regime protesters as “rats”. Shaking his fist in rage he said the youths were being manipulated by the west and we are giving them drugs. He encouraged his followers to go house to house and eradicate them.Defiant Gaddafi vows to fight on

Qaddafi Defies Rebels Amid Reports of Bodies on Tripoli Streets

Libyan forces loyal to Muammar Gaddafi are waging a bloody operation to keep him in power with residents reporting gunfire in parts of the capital Tripoli and other cities, while other citizens, including the country's former ambassador to India, are saying that warplanes were used to "bomb" protesters.Fresh violence rages in Libya as Protesters say security forces using warplanes and live fire 'massacred' them, as UN warns of possible 'war crimes'. I refuse to believe they are bombing their own people with fighter planes. Gadaffi has always scared me. He is ruthless, the civil war has already begun!

Profile: Muammar Gaddafi

Libyan Crackdown Continues, Officials Quit in Protest.I just heard that the interior minister went to the side of the people and said Gaddafi has two choices, be killed or commit suicide.

In Egypt, protesters urge Libyan envoy to rebel Many Libyan diplomats at the United Nations and in several countries have broken ranks with Gaddafi already, urging foreign countries to help stop what many called the slaughter and genocide of anti-government protesters.

Libya appeared to slip further from the grip of Col. Muammar el-Qaddafi, as opposition forces in the east armed themselves and moved to consolidate control of the region.

Libya: Ready for civil war? They better be because they are already in it! Gaddafi says he has not yet begun to use force. That is scary! If he does not call bombing and machine gunning your own people force I shudder to think of how far this mad man will go.

Medvedev sees `fires for decades' in Arab world True but another gross underestimate. When Bush attacked Iraq he already guaranteed a total middle east breakdown lasting the foreseen future. All this turmoil in Africa and the middle east is only adding to it!

New military strategy looks beyond Afghan war

You know what we have to worry about around the world lets get on with it. Please read the link! New military strategy looks beyond Afghan war We have earned that luxury and necessity as

Hundreds of Afghan fighters to lay down arms: NATO, Our multi level attack is paying off but we must be relentless

Both Pakistan and Afghanistan are benefiting from Pakistan's military operations, better surveillance by law enforcement agencies and the death of key militants in U.S. drone strikes, a think tank said Sunday. Pakistan's anti-terror efforts are a key focus of the Obama administration, which wants the country to do more to target Taliban militants who regularly launch attacks against U.S. troops in Afghanistan.

U.S. officials have also expressed frustration with Pakistan's unwillingness to launch an offensive in North Waziristan, part of the country's lawless tribal region that hosts a large number of militants who wage attacks in Afghanistan. The Pakistani army says its troops are stretched too thin by other operations in the tribal region. But many analysts believe the military is reluctant to cross militants with whom it has historical ties and could be useful allies in Afghanistan after foreign troops withdraw. Attacks down almost 20 percent in Pakistan

Pakistan's unwillingness to go into North Waziristan home of the Haqqani's is in my mind what is keeping the attacks down for now but the U.S. has responded by more than doubling the number of drone strikes in the tribal region. There were close to 120 such strikes in 2010, most of which occurred in North Waziristan. Prime target, the Haqqani's

For now NATO appears to be smoking the Haqqani's and have them on the run but we have to capture or kill them and their followers. The deadliest group of Taliban fighters in Afghanistan "the Haqqani's" has not conducted a complex large-scale attack in the capital city of Kabul for seven months, its momentum stymied as elite American-led commandos have escalated raids against the militants’ bomb makers and logisticians. In three months alone, commandos have carried out 1,784 missions across Afghanistan, killing or capturing 880 insurgent leaders.

New and increased drone attacks come in Khyber, an area abutting Afghanistan’s Nangahar province, that’s been notably drone-free. It has become an area for militants fleeing military action in South Waziristan. They also bring the drone-strike tally for this year, more than twice last year’s 53 strikes. But those figures don’t begin to tell the whole story.

So far over 900 low level Taliban fighters have given up arms and decided to work for peace in the last month and the pace is picking up. However the blood bath continues as the Haqqani's remain defiant.Hundreds of Afghan fighters to lay down arms: NATO Those that have signed up for reintegration have been promised protection and there are at least 45 armed groups or possibly more were in talks with the government on lower-level or local reintegration.

Those who want to sign up must stop fighting, cut ties with other militants and embrace the Afghan constitution. They provide the government information and surrender heavy weapons but are allowed to keep arms deemed essential for self-defense. That said at least a dozen so far have been attacked or killed.

Mullah Sangin of the Sangin province where the tribal uprising is taking place against the Taliban. The notorious Taliban stronghold has been bitterly contested by insurgents and drug traffickers ever since British troops arrived in 2006, but the government revealed that tribal elders, backed by some local insurgents, have agreed to stand up to the Taliban.

It was also announced that that one group of insurgents have already handed in their weapons in an attempt to join a local peace process in Sangin. They are fighting back, this is what has been happening in Pakistan and what had to happen in Afghanistan. Under the arrangement, local Taliban fighters will stop attacking US and Afghan forces and will keep non-local insurgents out of the Sarwan-Qala area of the upper Sangin Valley, according to a spokesman for the Helmand governor Gulab Mangal.

Foot patrols by government forces will continue and local people will be expected to help clear areas of homemade bombs and tip off local police as to their whereabouts.

"There was no signed agreement but we believe this will create the opportunity for other Taliban fighters to come and join the government," said Daoud Ahmadi. He said that the Afghan army, police and US forces were all represented at the traditional tribal Shura last Saturday and that some of the tribal elders had been given authority by the local Taliban to speak on their behalf. Afghanistan hopes tribal uprising will bring peace

I was listening to ex Taliban fighters and their Commanders who fought NATO and the US for 6 years saying they figure the Government now cares about them so they have now stopped, They point out besides they are sick of fighting and we are leaving anyway. Great! That Is what I was hoping for from the beginning. At least long enough to let us leave then they can kill each other again.

Around Spin Boldak we have Col. Razzik and his force of some 250 men who have become invaluable to the U.S.-led operations to seize Taliban redoubts in Kandahar province, U.S. commanders say. Unlike other Afghan security forces—often ineffectual, reluctant to fight or simply unfamiliar with Kandahar's terrain—his men have wowed American commanders with their tactical skills and determination.

"I have a clear strategy: When the enemies are killing us, we shouldn't be giving them flowers," Col. Razzik said in an interview, as he awaited a visit by the American ambassador to his fort-like base in the border town of Spin Boldak.

Col. Razzik's ability to safeguard the strategic Spin Boldak crossing from the Taliban in recent years has allowed him to stay in office. That job security comes despite what officials in Kabul and Washington say are well-founded concerns that he has been enriching himself and his patron, President Hamid Karzai's brother Ahmed Wali Karzai, with revenue from heroin smuggling, customs-skimming and bribes. people from his own tribe are scared to death of him and leaving the area. In Afghanistan, U.S. Turns 'Malignant Actor' Into Ally

I wish we would quickly kill the Haqqani's, both Jalaluddin and Sirajuddin and leave the rest to Pakistan. We are getting closer hitting a nerve and I can finally see success if Pakistan and the ISI cooperate. We have been taking down one key leader after the next for the last 6 months but with their rate of regeneration this is just beginning and we can not relent now nor think any form of victory is at hand. I wish we would get out and leave the rest up to Afghanistan and Pakistan, keep an eye on events, and see what they do from here on in. Our job as a ground force is done if we are smart enough to leave starting this year like we said we would.

Col Gaddafi's regime comes under mounting pressure amid unprecedented protests in the Libyan capital and defections by senior diplomats.

In pictures: Protests grip Libya

I hate to say it but that seems to cover most countries in the Middle East and many in Africa including Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, and every country ever involved with us. What a coincidence that Libya like North Korea were deemed worth working with when in 2008 Bush recovered full diplomatic relations with Gadafi. The Great Migration: Mexico's monarch butterflies

I am going to say it was around 20 years ago that I first heard of the awesome migration of monarch butterflies. I didn't even know they migrated, I thought they went dormant or something! I thought it was pretty good then my feeling went to one of mortification when I realized they had located and were telegraphing there routes and ultimate destinations in Mexico.

Knowing mans penchant for destruction of life and the undeniable fact that man can not even manage himself I was saddened knowing it was only a matter of time before we decimated them too as anything dependent on man for its survival is doomed. Each year, towards the end of October, a unique and stunning natural display can be witnessed right by the border of the States of Mexico and Michoacan and that is the arrival of the Monarch Butterfly.

Traveling in colonies of more than 20 million, the gorgeous Monarchs of bright-orange colored wings with black veins and white spots on the edges, arrive in the forests and prepare to hibernate, upholstering the oyamel fir trees and the sky itself with their radiant beauty, providing locals and visitors with an exceptional experience bound to stay imprinted in the memory of every spectator. I personally wish the knowledge of their whereabouts was kept to the natives for the sake of the butterflies survival!

While many visitors arrive yearly to witness this amazing spectacle, these amazing insects remain unknown to most people. The Monarch Butterfly dates back to 250-million years ago. Most of them are born south of Canada and the north of the United States, where wild cotton and milkweed plants -of the asclepia family- grow. The Monarch Butterfly feeds on these plants which contain an alkaloid substance deadly to other species but not for the magnificent Monarch

I have to tell you absolutely milkweed is delicious. If you love Asparagus you will love milkweed cut at the same young stage of growth. If I blindfolded you and put them both in front of you, you could not tell them apart period. Not the large plants the very young plants. Google it if you want! I found an old Polish woman that was excited that I knew it was edible as she has eaten it since a child. Now back to the monarch!

The typical Monarch's life cycle lasts 4 to 5 weeks, starting as en egg, going through the larva period, morphing into a pupa or chrysalis until it reaches the adult stage when it reproduces, and finally, dying. However, when summer is over and temperatures drop drastically, a special generation of Monarch Butterflies is born; this new group will have to assume the titanic mission of traveling to Mexico, to warmer latitudes so they can hibernate, feed, mate, and then travel back home. This different kind of Monarch is known as the Methuselah generation. Unlike its ancestors who had only ephemeral lives of five weeks tops, these migratory Monarchs will have longer existences that will last up to eight months, so they can successfully carry out their objective of reaching the oyamel fir forests. "I have never heard of this"

Migratory butterflies travel approximately 74 miles per day on an amazing 3100-mile trip, the Methuselah generation finally arrives at the five different sanctuaries located in Mexico, clustering on the oyamel tree trunks and getting ready to be a part of the half of the colony that will endure the winter and predators. By mid-February when temperatures rise and days become longer, the Monarch starts its mating ritual. Once females have lain over 400 eggs each on the fine leaves of the asclepias, they begin their search for flowers to get their nectar and thus gather the necessary energy for the trip back home.

By mid-March, copious colonies of Monarch Butterflies can be seen flapping their wings as they wait for an ascending air current to propel them, and so the journey back home starts. Once back in US territories, the Methuselah generation dies and the trip continues as a relay race while short-life descendants fly up north in several generations.

Amazing as it is, those Monarchs who will travel back to the sanctuaries in Mexico next winter, have never been there before. It was their great great grandparents who undertook the courageous trip the year before. However, as orientation sense is transmitted genetically, the Methuselah generation of next year will have no problem returning to the same place where its ancestors hibernated. I read at one of the links that a half a billion start the trek to Mexico and 100 million arrive!

This is the unbelievable journey of an insect that weighs less than a gram, but whose beauty and importance as a pollination agent and as a factor of ecological equilibrium, are preponderant. Do not miss the chance to be a part of this fascinating experience when you visit Michoacan or the State of Mexico. Take a closer look to the amazing life cycle of the Monarch Butterfly, and its migration to the sanctuaries in Michoacan, Mexico

Numbers of Monarch butterflies increased this winter "2011", but conservationists say severe weather still threatens the species. I am not worried about the weather as much as I am man though the weather seems to be everyone's enemy the last few years and is getting worse.

Russia boosts military presence on Kuril islands as the US backs Japan on the disputed Islands

Russia boosts military presence on Kuril islands

US backs Japan on islands dispute with Russia: State Department

Remember last year when President Dmitri A. Medvedev flew into the south Kuril Islands, which the Soviet Union seized from Japan at the end of World War II, making it clear that Russia had no plans to cede the mineral-rich territory despite Japanese protests. Russia Angers Japan With Visit to Disputed Islands

This 65 year dispute started when in 1945 Russia took advantage of Japan's weakness and manned and claimed them as their own. The dispute flared up when at the end of Last October Medvedev visited them and made it clear that Russia had no intention of ceding the mineral rich Islands. Japanese ambassador was summoned home over Kuril Islands visit: Lavrov

We had this discussion off and on over the last few years because of this and China flexing its growing military might over Japan in the area. Chinese anger flared over an over-lapping claim in the resource-rich East China Sea, raising the issue of disputed islands in the mineral rich sea

Take a Break: We must maintain as much of the old world balance and order as we can to maintain a balance as we try to move progressively and successfully through the 21st century! I know of China and Japan's past, I know of the still ongoing Island disputes, the disagreement over natural gas in another area of the East China Sea, I also remember that with China's economic clout rising she took the number 3 seat on the world bank and we talk constantly that China is taking the leading role in Asia and Asia relations.

Being in a superior position puts one in a unique position of power and that power must be handled gracefully, with humility, responsibly, and not abused. That is something I taught all my sons and America under Bush did a lousy job of handling. I am a little worried that China too is getting a little too heavy handed and abusive with her new position of power and beginning to take what she wants instead of being content with what she has which is what I constantly lecture has to be the case if we are to have a future. The time when man and the planet could handle war and colonialism is over, period or else!

Opposition leader Mir Hossein Mousavi missing as tensions rise in Iran

Iran Vows to Block Opposition

Iran Opposition Leader Missing as Tensions Rise

Iran's opposition calls for more protests Opposition leader Mir Hossein Mousavi is calling on Iranians to rally on Sunday in an attempt to build on recent uprisings in the Arab world. Iranian authorities are planning a counter demonstration and they have arrested the leader Mir Hossein Mousavi. What do you think that is going to have for an effect?

Iran next? No way in hell, they will murder and slaughter their people and the people know it. Iran's regime make believe they are on the Arabs side but they want a resurgent dominant Persia once again and they "the IRG and the Basij" are not going to let their agenda be stopped after going this far.

Iranian lawmakers condemn protests; call for execution of leaders

As Iranian opposition groups threatened to rally in Tehran in support of the uprisings in Egypt and Tunisia, the BBC's Mohsen Asgari asks whether the Middle East political contagion could spread to Iran - the first non-Arab country. Mousavi, his wife Zahra Rahnavard, Karroubi, and many of the protest leaders have been arrested or are under house arrest. The people have taken to the roof tops again shouting God is great as they are afraid of being killed. You can bet they have Mousavi, his wife, and anyone else who knew about it. They just may have disappeared forever. How convenient! Now what are the protesters going to do?

There are dozens of police and security forces in the Vali-ye Asr Avenue [Tehran's largest street]... they have blocked entrances of metro stations in the area," a witness told Reuters. Critics say Ahmadinejad's government was moving to squash the potential for a repeat of pro-Democracy demonstrations that rocked the country after the 2009 election -- demonstrations that were ultimately put down by the Iranian Revolutionary Guards. They have just begun!

Afghanistan hopes tribal uprising will bring peace, 900 low level Taliban fighters have given up arms

Hundreds of Afghan fighters to lay down arms: NATO, Our multi level attack is paying off but we must be relentless
Both Pakistan and Afghanistan are benefitting from Pakistan's military operations, better surveillance by law enforcement agencies and the death of key militants in U.S. drone strikes, a think tank said Sunday.

But many analysts believe the military is reluctant to cross militants with whom it has historical ties and could be useful allies in Afghanistan after foreign troops withdraw.Attacks down almost 20 percent in Pakistan
