A Kurdish Spring in Turkey and Syria?

A Kurdish Spring in Turkey and Syria?: The uprisings of the Arab Spring are spilling over into an awakening of Kurdish people and their national self-definition. The Kurds number some 30 million people scattered around Turkey, Syria, Iraq, Iran and the Caucasus. The civil war in Syria has provided certain Kurdish armed groups with the opportunity to further arm themselves and enact a round of attacks against the Turkish Army, hoping to create a second autonomous Kurdish region in the Middle East.

The first being Northern Iraq. Characteristically, Massoud Barzani, current president of the Iraqi Kurdistan Region, said, "The Kurdish nation will be united and the day of self-determination is coming." Since the end of 2011, as the war in Syria was building, Kurdish guerrilla groups in Turkey, such as PKK, intensified their attacks. Since then, hundreds of military attacks by Kurds have managed to inflict great casualties on the Turkish Army

Deadly attack on Turkish convoy: Security sources blamed the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) for the attack. The Turkish army responded to the attack with an immediate operation backed by air power in the larger Bingol area, the Turkish news agency Anatolia reports. Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said this week that 500 Kurdish rebels had been "rendered ineffective" by his forces in the space of a month. The government often uses the phrase to mean killed.

He specified that 123 militants had been killed over the past 10 days near the south-eastern border with Iraq. PKK attacks on Turkish targets recently escalated. Dozens of Turkish troops and civilians, including children, have been killed in recent bombings blamed on the group. The PKK has been fighting for an ethnic homeland in south-eastern Turkey since 1984.

Turkey launches military drill on Syrian border in apparent show of muscle ...: The Turkish government last week said Turkish Kurdish rebels have seized control of five towns along the border in collaboration with Syria’s Democratic Union Party, or PYD— an ethnic Kurdish grouping. Turkey alleges that many of the rebels migrated to civil-war engulfed Syria from bases in northern Iraq.

The Turkish military has targeted rebel bases of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party, or PKK, in northern Iraq several times in the past, and the government hinted that it would not hesitate to do the same against any rebel position in Syria.

Remember, the Kurds want their oil and their freedom. That is only one small fact Bush ignored to attack Iraq so he could help Israel and instigate war with Iran.

Remember, the Kurds are Sunni and al-Maliki Shiite. Al- Maliki and Iran see Hashimi and the Kurds as a threat to their dominance in the new middle east order. The Kurds wanting a free Kurdistan are now a people without a country"

Kurds are a dispossessed people whose natural homeland stretches across much of the Middle East. A substantial number of Kurds live in Iran, which is as close to a mortal enemy of the United States as there is in the world today. American support for reclaiming those colonial possessions of Teheran and the incorporation of those lands into Kurdistan would roughly double the area of the Iraqi Kurds.

A significant, but smaller, number of Kurds live in Syria, an enemy of America and was a supporter both of the Iraqi insurgency and of international terrorism. If the Baathist regime did not give up its Kurdish lands, then the Kurds, with American military support, should smash the Syrian Army and force as humiliating a peace treaty as possible on Damascus.

The majority of the thirty million or so Kurds, however, live in Turkey – almost one quarter of the population of Turkey. That, more than anything else, has stayed our hand so far. Kurdistan with the southeast quarter of Turkey is a fairly large nation. Traditionally, Turkey has been an ally of America, but that has been changing fast and Turkish support for American policies has always been based entirely on cynical self-interest.

We owe Turkey – neutral in World War Two and our enemy in World War One – nothing. Our support for Turkey costs us the goodwill of Greeks, Armenians and other European nations that suffered through centuries of Turkish oppression. It also has cost of much of the goodwill of Kurds, who would otherwise welcome the presence of a superpower that was not intolerant, not Arab, and sought nothing but friendly relations with it.

Another important reason for supporting a true Kurdistan is that the Kurds are a genuinely diverse people. Although they were forced to covert to Islam, today only about seventy percent of the Kurds are Moslem, and many of those only nominally, Jews, Christians, Zoroastrians (or a faith much akin to that) and Bahai have lived within the long-persecuted Kurdish community with their first allegiance as Kurds, and there is no single branch of Islam that clearly dominates the Kurdish community.

Kurdistan could then be a democracy with an Islamic majority that was genuinely inclusive of all faiths, both needing the support of all Kurds to survive (much like Israel) and also because of centuries of living largely underground, tolerant of all Kurds. There is little doubt that it would become an affluent nation as capable of defending itself as Israel is today, and that along with the establishment of a truly free and democratic Lebanon, would create three strong, free and prosperous democracies which would naturally become allies or at least friends.

The dismemberment of Iran, which would lose ten percent of its population, and the humiliation of Syria, which would be forced into a very precarious position, would be great peripheral benefits. The downside has always been the impact on Turkey.

Oil-rich area

Iraq's ethnic Kurds maintain an autonomous region that comprises three of the country's 18 provinces. In recent months, the Shiite-led central government in Baghdad, which includes some Kurds in prominent positions "or there were", has accused Kurdish leaders of attempting to expand their territory by deploying their militia, known as pesh merga, to areas south of the autonomous region. Among other things, the Kurds and Iraq's government are at odds over control of the oil-rich city of Kirkuk, which lies outside the autonomous region, and over how Iraq's oil revenue ought to be distributed.

What a mess the already volatile Middle East has become since Bush was told by God to attack Iraq to get into the Middle East to straighten it out. He freed up Iran to instigate wherever she can in order to have her idea of a new Middle East order not ours. Will we ever find a balance again?

Many of us have said numerous times that Bush was advised before hand that if he attacked Iraq he would destabilize the middle east. He knew before he ignored all good advice that the neighbors would get involved and they are. He knew that it was most likely that Iraq would be divvied up between the Kurds, the Sunni's, and the Shiite and it will be. In the past I have written extensively the entire middle east would blow and then the entire world would be involved in war.

I know that Syria, Turkey, and Iran are fighting Kurds that are looking for Autonomy but never really thought that a free Kurdistan would encompass areas of Iran and Turkey as well as Iraq. knowing the close American Kurdish relationship I really have to rethink what Bush's real goal was here and despite kurdish hopes I see them as being able to take no lands from any country but to continue to be a nuisance..

Mumbai bomber Ajmal Kasab sentenced to death by hanging

At first Kassab thought this was funny, he confessed then Mumbai Defendant Recants Confession

Then Mumbai suspect says wanted to be a Bollywood star

As you know, In November 2008, 10 attackers launched their assault on various targets in Mumbai, including several where Headley had conducted surveillance. Targets scouted out by Headley included the Taj Mahal hotel, the Oberoi hotel, the Leopold Cafe, the Nariman House and the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus train station and you know the results. US charges Chicago man in 2008 Mumbai attack

Of the ten who carried out the attack all but one were killed. The lone survivor should also pay with his life. Headley’s surveillance was integral to the death and terror inflicted in Mumbai. 166 dead and the countless surviving family and friends will be affected for ever. Give him his reward!

First Kasab was a tough guy cool calm and calculated! Indian police heard the first full account of what led up to the devastating attacks in Mumbai from the only terrorist captured alive, who told authorities that he was ordered to kill "until the last breath," the U.K.'s Daily Mail newspaper reported.

Azam Amir Kasab, 21, the only terrorist to survive a raid by Indian commandos, told authorities that the attacks included 10 terrorists in a heavily orchestrated plan devised six months prior to the attack that hoped to kill 5,000 people, targeting mostly "whites, preferably Americans and British," the Mail reported.

Then a local newspaper claimed the man was talking and wanted to live, indicating he had perhaps struck a deal with his captors. But Geddes said the group was very well trained and the information could not necessarily be relied on. He added: "If this group has been so well prepared, so professional in their planning, there will be disinformation they will be ready to release or give in the event of capture. However they got their man and despite the games he will be hanged as his reward.

Kasab was captured after being shot in the hand by police in south Mumbai the Sunday Times of London reported. A policeman and one other terrorist were killed in the same encounter. Kasab was captured after being shot in the hand by police in a standoff near Chowpatty beach, a popular evening destination for local families, in south Bombay, also known as Mumbai, on Wednesday night. A policeman and one other terrorist were killed in the same encounter.

The terrorists reportedly posed as students during a visit to Mumbai a month ago, to familiarize themselves with the city's roads and to film the "strike locations." Kasab confessed to being a member of the Pakistani terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba, a Pakistani militant group believed to be connected to Al Qaeda.

Kasab was an aspiring actor all right, a bad actor!

Attack on US in Libya fuels anti-Islamist backlash:

Is the problem Islam or Islamism? Muslims or Islamists?

Attack on US in Libya fuels anti-militia backlash: Tens of thousands of Libyans marched to the gates of one of the country's strongest armed Islamic extremist groups Friday, demanding it disband, as the attack that killed the U.S. ambassador and four other Americans sparked a public backlash against militias that run rampant in the country and defy the country's new, post-Moammar Gadhafi leadership.
"If they are the 'supporters of Shariah' then who are we?" he said. "We don't want the flag of al-Qaida raised over heads," he added, referring to Ansar al-Shariah's black banner. One elder resident at the Sahaba Mosque sit-in, Ramadan Youssef, said, "We will talk to them peacefully. We will tell them you are from us and you fought for us" during the civil war against Gadahfi. But "if you say no (to integrating into the) police and army, we will storm your place. It's over."

Libyan militia in Derna 'to disband': A powerful militia in eastern Libya has announced it will disband, hours after military police and protesters routed militias from the city of Benghazi. Leaders of the Abu Slim Brigade said the group would dissolve and quit its bases in Derna, east of Benghazi. Another militia group, Ansar al-Sharia, suspected of a deadly attack on the US consulate in Benghazi, was also reported to be leaving Derna.
Libyan army evicts militia in Tripoli: Commander in chief Yussef al-Mangush said on his Facebook page that members of the militia were arrested and that their weapons were confiscated. The sound of gunfire was heard in the area at 9 am (0700 GMT) and lasted less than a minute, an AFP journalist said.

The move comes a day after the Libyan authorities announced the decision to dissolve all militias that do not come under state authority and set a 48-hour deadline for armed groups to evacuate strategic property in Tripoli.

Pakistan's Lashkar were the first to form and stand uo to the Islamists and it has been a few years now. I sure hope this is a movement because this is what Islam needs to take it from the clutches of the Osama Bin Laden influenced terrorists. 25 killed, hundreds injured in violent protests against anti-Islam film:

Angry and violent protests plunged the country into chaos on Youm-e-Ishq-e-Rasool (PBUH) on Friday as at least 25 people were killed and hundreds injured in addition to widespread damage to private and public property in nationwide protests against a blasphemous, anti-Islam film.

Fuming protesters fought pitched battles with police and law enforcement agencies in Peshawar, Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore and several other cities. Most of the protests were violent despite repeated calls to hold peaceful rallies by the government, political leaders and religious scholars.
More than 10 years in Bin Laden was still at the helm running the show in his personal vendetta against the west. He wanted to expand his perverted Jihad against the US and urged all Muslim's and minorities to go after railroad's and small towns. Knowing that some in inter service intelligence agency and in the Pakistan Government were complicit from the get go and our Government knew that Osama Bin Laden had to be killed.
He is now dead but his personal vendetta lives on. However it looks like a vendetta against Islam as much as a vendetta against the west. All of islam must pay heed to what Bin Laden's once right hand man learned years ago.

Noman Benotman loved and respected Bin Laden but like Al Zawahiri Al Qaeda number two he did not think Bin Laden was very smart. However, he did not have to be. He got this so called Jihad going and has incited the Islamist rancor he intended. whether he's Dead or alive the battle is on. For Islamists this has taken on a life of its own. In reality Bin Laden is still the greatest enemy of his people. Remember the open letter we discussed from Noman Benotman Bin Laden's personal friend and fellow freedom fighter against the Russian's?

Bin Laden is solely responsible for all this war death and destruction. He's no frigging hero to Muslims. They should have hunted him down themselves and ended this! Noman considered himself a freedom fighter and he was. He fought alongside Bin Laden against the Russians but said these wars have nothing to do with Islam. It is purely political and it is time to lay down arms, 100% and end all this senseless violence.

We know this but Noman says to Al Qaeda and now Islamists of all stripes the vendetta offers meaning to those who have none and gives them a cause but has nothing to do with Islam or Jihad. This all boils down to communications and I agree but Islamists are not interested in communicating. They are interested in our destruction. violence is their communication.

Osama is dead now so the message goes to Osama's followers: Stop bringing shame on Islam. Stop killing your own people. Stop bringing death and destruction on them. Osama forsook Mullah Omar who invited him into Afghanistan to give him protection. Bin Laden used Afghanistan for his own personal war against the west, the US, and Israel. This is not Islam , this is not Jihad. Restore Muslim integrity, end this now!

* Osama Bin Laden is now dead, he has betrayed Islam and defamed and betrayed Muslims and their religion. His personal vendetta against the west will continue fueled by his death and fought by extremists who have nothing else to do. Fighting the west gives them a purpose. If it is to stop Islam must step up and police itself.
Pockets of Muslims have had enough of the extreme Sharia rules and law. They have had enough of the senseless killing of themselves "good Muslims". What is happening in Libya after the senselss murder of their friend the U.S. Ambassador. The people have said enough is enough, we have had enough of your harsh rules and murdering of your own people. You must put down your weapons and join our army and society or else. This is beautiful, they must police themselves if we are ever to put an end to this. Power to the People!

Rebels claim control over most of Syria as Turkey deploys heavy weapons to Syrian border

This is the latest in Syria, gloss the stories and read the links that interest you and make your own decision as to conclusion, mine follows.
: The rebel Free Syrian Army said on Sunday that it now controls most of the war-torn country, a day after announcing that it has moved its command centre from Turkey to "liberated areas" inside Syria.
UN chief Ban Ki Moon and UN-Arab League peace envoy Lakhdar Brahimi held talks about Syria on Saturday, agreeing the crisis was "a steadily increasing threat to regional peace and stability," according to a statement. Brahimi, who was appointed in early September, is due to brief the UN Security Council on Monday about his first round of talks with both the regime, including President Bashar al-Assad and opposition groups.
Syria Rebels to Use Captured Territory for Training: Syrian Rebels to use captured territory for traning

Syrian rebel fighters on the Turkish border are pushing ahead with a plan to turn territory in Idlib province that has been mostly under their control since early summer into a logistics and training base for fighters across the country. The move, which could draw the regime's attention back to this swath of northwestern territory, shows how Syria's rebels are trying to consolidate control over pockets of liberated land along the Turkish border even as war rages farther north in Aleppo.
Turkey deploys heavy weapons to Syrian border:Turkey deploys heavy weapons to border

The deployment is reportedly in an area where earlier this week Turkish civilians were wounded when stray bullets and shelling crossed the border from the Syrian province of al-Raqqa. The Turkish army moved three Howitzers and one anti-aircraft weapon to the border, the channel said.

Turkey, a member of NATO, has conducted a number of troop deployments in recent months along its 911-km (566-mile) border with Syria, where rebels are fighting to topple President Bashar al-Assad.

Lebanese President Affirms Need to Control Borders... Lebanese Army: FSA Militia Members Attacked Army Center in Ersal:Lebanese President affirms need to control border

Earlier  on Saturday, the Lebanese Army said that big numbers of gunmen affiliated to the so-called "Free Syrian Army'' militias attacked a center for the Lebanese army in Ersal area, but no casualties were reported.
The army said in a statement that ''It is the second time in less than a week that members affiliated to the so-called 'Free Syrian Army' militias entered the Lebanese territories in Ersal area, attacking overnight a center for the Lebanese army,'' adding that no casualties were reported in the attack. The statement said that reinforcements were called in to the area and chased the gunmen who fled after the attack to the mountains and border towns and villages.
This is looking really good but caution, Now that we know how involved Russia, Iran and Hezbollah are in the slaughtering that is going on around the country that is beginning to look like the beginning of their fight not nearing the end. I think France and Turkey are in for a surprise and will take this mess to the next level.

You have to be very concerned about what is happening in Syria especially. Russia, China, and Iran are not going to allow Syria to fall to Democracy. What we saw after the voter fraud in Iran was mild compared to what the IRG will do if this movement spreads to Iran. I really wish Bashar would step down but Iran is the elephant in the room any way you look at it. The total middle east breakdown we have written about numerous times is well under way. We can only hope we keep it from erupting into WW3.

In closing: You know Putin just got himself reelected as President, he did this so he could be at the helm of Russia as he like me knows 100% that world war is our future. He plans on marshaling China who is rapidly building a more formidable military and whoever he can to take on US hegemony.Russia watched helplessly as we had our way in Libya. Putin blames what is happening in Syria on our interference and Libya for training the protesters to fight against Bashar Al-Assad.

Putin is going to do everything possible to keep us from helping the Syrian people and I really feel for them. I do not see this going down the way Libya did and Iran and Russia are going to make sure it does not. I am afraid the Syrian people are going to be sacrificed, sacrificed in what is merely an opening salvo in this the wars for future dominance. I just heard that Russia is gathering forces to go into Iran via Armenia for a quick strike through Georgia. We have a showdown setting up that looks disastrous for the worlds future. It will be a miracle if we can keep this from turning into WW3!

6 powers bridge differences at nuclear meeting, agree on resolution critical of Iran to no avail

6 powers bridge differences at nuclear meeting, agree on resolution critical of Iran: The United States and its Western allies have persuaded Russia and China to support a resolution critical of Iran’s nuclear defiance in hope of showing Israel that diplomacy is an alternative to military force in pressuring Tehran, diplomats said Wednesday.

The resolution, which demands that Iran stop activities that could be used to make nuclear arms, cannot be enforced by the 35-nation board of the International Atomic Energy Agency, even if approved by vote or consensus as expected Thursday. But with Israel increasingly floating force as an alternative to failed international efforts to curtail suspected Iranian nuclear activities, the document is significant in seeking to show world-power resolve in pursuing a diplomatic solution to the standoff.

Iran does not care what the US and its allies and Russia and China want them to do. They believe nuclear power is their Holt right. I am afraid they are going all the way with that so called right and are after the holy Grail, a nuclear weapon. We gave Iran their start in the fifties they are not going to stop and we will not know where they are till they possess a nuke.

We gave Iran their start in the fifties and once Khomenei returned from exile their efforts to control the middle east and develop nuclear power and weapons began in earnest. As you know, when asked by a journalist how he felt upon returning to Iran in 1979 after 15 years in exile. Khomeini’s curt, one-word reply was “nothing” Whoa! From day one of his return to Iran Khomeini expressed no love for Iran only a love of the atom bomb. The drive even then was to possess a nuclear weapon though that desire is still denied until Iran can get their hands on one.

I have tried to give Iran the benefit of the doubt when they say their nuclear desires are peaceful knowing they could use nuclear power as an energy source for their growing population. I have always asserted that perceived need could be cover for the real goal of developing a nuclear weapon.

The nuclear program of Iran was launched in the 1950s with the help of the United States as part of the Atoms for Peace program. The support, encouragement and participation of the United States and Western European governments in Iran's nuclear program continued until the 1979 Islamic revolution that toppled the Shah of Iran. We are so concerned about Pakistan and Iran today in regard to nuclear abilities and nuclear weapons and security. I was blown away to find out that we built the first nuclear Reactors in both Iran and Pakistan. Nuclear program of Iran - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia atoms for peace

I would have to assume this was after we overthrew the democratically elected President of Iran Mohammad Mosaddeq to install our ruthless puppet the Shah of Iran. We built and supplied Iran's first reactor because we thought we were in control. What the hell is wrong with us? That makes us personally responsible for the 1979 Revolution in Iran, the capture of our hostages, the disaster in the desert after a failed attempt to rescue them, the rise of the Revolutionary Guard, the protesters dilemma, the nuclear issue in Iran today, everything!

You know from numerous discussions here that Iran is involved in every Middle Eastern country not just Yemen, Iraq, and Saudi Arabia where they have corrupted elections for Shiite interests in Iraq, backing rebels in Yemen, and instigating attacks on Saudi oil fields. Bush freed Iran to instigate far and wide and are even training Taliban on their border. Any new actions will only serve to worsen their instigation and cause them to cause chaos everywhere they can and further Bush's total Middle East breakdown Period.

You know, I have long said that Iran’s civilian nuclear program is a cover for their nuclear weapons program. They have been working at this for over 60 years nobody can seriously think anything can stop them without direct confrontation after they have gone this far. That would mean war whether it's Russia, the US or China. All we can hope for is that it is kept limited and not allowed to develop into WW3.

Syrian rebels take control of third of 7 border crossings, move command from Turkey to Syria

Syrian rebels take control of third border : Officials in Turkey have confirmed that rebels in Syria have seized control of another border crossing between the two countries. Fierce fighting began in Tel-Abyad on Tuesday night.
Amateur video appears to to show fighters sheltering from and returning gunfire from behind a wall. It is the first time rebels have targeted a crossing in Syria’s al-Raqqa province – a region which has remained staunchly behind the government of Bashar al-Assad. Tel-Abyad is the third of seven major crossings along the Turkish-Syrian frontier to come under rebel control.

Rebels move command from Turkey to Syria: In a video titled "Free Syrian Army Communique No. 1 from Inside," Col. Riad al-Assad, the leader of the Free Syrian Army, announced the move. "To our free Syrian people and to all free revolutionaries in Syrian towns, villages and suburbs and to all armed factions of the revolution," he declared, "we announce the entry of the leadership of the Free Syrian Army into liberated territories in Syria."

He emphasized that the move was made "in collaboration with battalions inside Syria." Fighters and opposition activists inside the country have complained that the Free Syrian Army is too far removed from the battle inside Syria. It was the latest in a series of recent efforts by the armed opposition inside and outside Syria to establish a tighter command and supply structure. The announcement Saturday came as activists in the northern province of Idlib claimed to have carried out an audacious attack in which three rebel battalions worked together to attack a Syrian army base and shoot down a fighter jet.
It is getting closer: Assad is going down. It is afterwards that worries me because the Arabs, Iran, The United States, Russia, and even China want to exert their interests over what is left! The Rebels top General has been saying that Syrian rebels can topple Assad without any external help. It is beginning to look like they can. I am very concerned about Hezbollah, Iran, and Russia though because they will not let it go at that and this will turn into a total middle east civil war.

In a single incident, rebels killed at least 18 soldiers in a car bomb and ground attack on a military position in Idlib province of northwest Syria, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said. Speaking of the assault in Idlib, Observatory head Rami Abdel Rahman said, “There were 70 to 100 soldiers there when the attack occurred” in the town of Saraqeb.

I remember saying a year ago that the Syrian protesters are the bravest in the world as they know they at the least are facing dedicated Syrian and Iranian Revolutionary Guard killers and now we find out we were right on and then some. I know the protesters vowed not to be deterred stating they will break the Government period but there is no way. The Syrian Government will kill and arrest who they have too. Iran will accept nothing less!

I remember the Syrian opposition saying that they would not stop and would ultimately defeat the Government saying Democratic transition would safeguard Syria from violence. As outsiders looking in we know nothing could be further from the truth. People are being imprisoned and murdered and I can not see that stopping until the Democracy movement is crushed. Supposedly this expected situation is begging for us to get involved but we damn well better not. Unless that is going to war with Iran is the goal.

I remember saying from day one that it would take almost the whole military to defect before they would have a chance and now that we know how involved Russia, Iran and Hezbollah are in the slaughtering that is going on around the country that is beginning to look like the beginning of their fight.

Looks like Islamists have found their excuse to enrage Muslims to war against the west in the middle east

Ya think?

Egypt Protestors Attack US Embassy in Cairo after Film in America Blasphemes Muhammad

Protesters rush US embassy in Yemen

This so called event looks like the straw that broke the camels back, this is the latest in an 11 year attempt by Islamists to find something the west has done against their Religion so they can blow it all out of proportion so they can continue Bin Laden's vendetta against the west.

2 US troops killed in Koran backlash: Two U.S. troops have been shot to death and four more wounded by an Afghan solider who turned his gun on his allies in apparent anger over the burning of Korans at a U.S. military base in Afghanistan, an Afghan official tells CBS News.

Nato forces have lost legitimacy: The Nato forces in Afghanistan led by the US cannot hope to succeed in any part of their mission when they persistently display profound ignorance of the country in which they are operating. The long-running conflict needs some kind of political solution, which has to be found by the Afghan government talking to the Taliban. It cannot be found by Americans killing Afghans. It is a disaster that the coalition forces continuously display an ingrained ignorance of Muslim sensibilities, as illustrated by US personnel burning copies of the Quran in a pile of garbage. The holy book is universally respected by all Muslims, and there are clear cut methods to dispose off old copies of the book respectfully.

There are accepted ways of disposing of any Holy book but you do not see other Religions trying to kill everybody and rising up. I am going to assume once again this is the Islamists making as much of this as possible to turn Muslims against us. That said, I do believe we should get out of Afghanistan and leave them to their own demise. I do agree though that we just keep giving the Islamists reason to drum up anger against the west.

Remember that idiot Pastor who was going to burn the Koran and what that did? Quran-burning protests spread to Kandahar; 9 dead,Today this is getting worse and there is 20 dead. That fffing Jones!

Five Die In Second Koran burning Protest as Five people have died in protests in Kandahar against the burning of a copy of the Koran, a day after an attack prompted by the incident left at least 12 people dead, including seven UN staff.

There are not words strong enough that I can use to show my disgust for what this so called Pastor had done. Pastor Jones agreed to not burn the the Koran last year because the Imam who was going to build the Muslim educational center (the so called Mosque) said he would move it. According to Jones this would please God. What the hell is that? I don't know about God but the damage was done and warnings had gone out to all Americans everywhere not just to the soldiers as the Taliban have weighed in along with Robert Gates.

I am really concerned for my sons in combat still. Hell the Bible like the Koran can be interpreted to justify killing. I wish we would just leave those fools to their own demise.

I thought I better remind us of just a little of what we have done to Muslims to deserve their ire:

Remember the Swiss ban on Minarets The minaret was a political symbol against integration; a symbol more of segregation and first above all a symbol to try to introduce Sharia law parallel to Swiss rights. That sounds insane but it went directly to the paranoid citizens and they voted to outlaw the Minaret.

IRAN: Outrage, and a warning, over Swiss vote to ban minarets

Libya follows Iran in warning against Swiss minaret ban

Bishop of Arabia dismayed by minaret ban in Swiss homeland

Remember the Danish cartoons about Muhammad printed almost 5 years ago? Here they are

Remember the French headscarf ban after dozens of Muslim school girls were expelled for refusing to remove their head scarf To the French it is a sign of oppression but who cares what they think? Their desire to ban it altogether?

Remember Salman Rushdie, who went into hiding under threat of death after an Iranian fatwa, was knighted by the Queen? Muslim's wanted his head and he had to go into hiding

You know I have written often of my disgust with those who said we did nothing to deserve 9/11 or anything that has happened before and since. We more than asked for everything we got. Remember the Berlin conference Berlin Conference of 1884-1885 to Divide Africa

India and Pakistan being ad hoc divided by Britain

Why ever they are doing this the long awaited middle east breakdown is under way. It started when Bush illegally attacked Iraq. We keep doing fucked up things to piss off the Islamists over nothing but an excuse to ratchet up tensions towards a war. Those scum have nothing better to do with their time. In reality they are their peoples enemy and they are dragging them down as Bib Laden was. Decent Muslims should police themselves and take down the Islamists instigators looking for a war.

French Weekly Publishes Caricatures Of Prophet Muhammad: Are we just asking for it?

French Weekly Publishes Caricatures Of Prophet Muhammad: The French satirical weekly "Charlie Hebdo" has published a series of cartoons ridiculing the Prophet Muhammad. The cartoon on the back of the current issue shows the Prophet naked, as do several other images inside the magazine. The French Foreign Ministry has ordered increased security at diplomatic sites around the world in anticipation of a possible violent reaction from offended Muslims.

The publication of the caricatures comes as passions around the Islamic world are already inflamed by the trailer of an obscure low-budget film that mocks the Prophet Muhammad. That film, which was privately made in the United States, has sparked days of rioting that have left at least 19 people dead.

We are still dealing with the aftermath of that anti Muhammad spoof showing him as a blood thirsty womanizer. A U.S. law enforcement official says a man named Nakoula Basseley Nakoula is behind the anti-Muslim film being blamed for mob attacks in Egypt, Libya and Yemen. A man who calls himself Sam Bacile has said he created the film, but The Associated Press on Wednesday connected Nakoula to the Bacile persona. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss an ongoing investigation.

You may know but I did a diary on this subject five years ago. However with all the blogs and reporting on them and the results of printing them one very important point among many has yet to be mentioned. First I have to question the wisdom of the Danish paper for getting involved with this in the first place knowing the volatile state of relations between Muslims and the west and the seriousness in which most Muslims take to having Muhammad blasphemed.

Just what religion if any is the person who gave the okay to print anyway? Also supposedly freedom of speech was the issue which motivated the printing but in reality what was the real motivation behind it? Protests, riots, and deaths, continue to increase and worsen around the world. What else could possibly have been expected?

I agree with free speech. I also believe to each his or her own. Leave well enough alone that works too. Above all I believe in engaging brain before acting. Just what was the thought process if any in the first place. We have freedom of speech yes! I think it is too late but we have to think about the consequences of exercising it at least for the moment at a time when we should be trying to quell anti western feelings not fueling the fire.

It seems to me like these cartoons have done the trick for Muslim extremists anyway. They have succeeded in uniting Muslims where we have until now failed to do with our ineptitude in dealing with the Muslim world. We have finally united the majority of Muslims against the west and we now have take off. I ask again, what could have possibly been the expected outcome and whose side was this Danish paper on in the first place?

If you do not Remember the Danish cartoons about Muhammad printed more than now 6 years ago Here they are

Also, remember the US charged a Chicago man in the 2008 Mumbai attack? I mention it because he also tried to attack the Danish newspaper that published the Muhammad cartoons: Two days prior to that I republished by coincidence the cartoons of the Islamic Prophet Muhammad published in early October 2005 in a Danish newspaper as they outraged Muslim’s around the world and that was only one of the many things we keep doing to seemingly taunt Islam. What took them so long to apologize for their insensitivity?

Regardless it is too late! This as most know is just one of many issues the extremists will continue to use to drum up anti- west sentiment to keep UBL's personal anti Muslim and anti west vendetta alive. Now what will they do?

Osama Bin Laden had to be assassinated to protect the United State's and Pakistan secrets

Bin Laden journal reveals his calculations for another 9/11-style attack

Bin Laden Journal Discusses Terror Operations

WaPo: Bin Laden Remained Focused on US, Became 'Lazy and Complacent' It was not complacency it was cockiness!

More than 10 years in he was still at the helm running the show in his personal vendetta against the west. He wanted to expand his perverted Jihad against the US and urged all Muslim's and minorities to go after railroad's and small towns. Knowing that some in inter service intelligence agency and in the Pakistan Government were complicit from the get go and our Government knew that Osama Bin Laden had to be killed.

Eulogies and fury: Jihadists eager to avenge bin Laden's death Now is the time to open this wide open before the extremists have a chance to take the lead on this. I would rather be on the offense not the defense.

We have discussed many times since 9/11 how interests in Pakistan's inter service intelligence agency was aiding Osama Bin Laden and even paying Mohamed Atta and crew $100,000 days before the attack on the twin towers. the 9/11 movie "a press for truth", hidden facts about helping Osama Bin Laden

Yeah he was still in control, keeping a journal, and absolutely never expecting to get caught and killed in a thought to be safe area surrounded by military and retired ISI and Government officials. I am sure everyone is running for cover now so we better move quick as we did on Anwar al-Awlaki. We have stirred up a hornet's nest of extremists around the world. It is time for us to put it in overdrive and take advantage of the vast wealth of information gathered at Bin Laden's compound.

Rebels offer reward on Assad as his sister reportedly left to Dubai

Syrians under 'indiscriminate' attack: The London-based rights group, which accompanied its report with video footage, said "civilians, many of them children, are the main victims of a campaign of relentless and indiscriminate attacks by the Syrian army". Amnesty said the findings were based on "first-hand field investigations carried out in the first half of September".

During that period, attacks killed "166 civilians, including 48 children and 20 women, and injured hundreds in 26 towns and villages" in the northwestern regions of Idlib, Jabal al-Zawiya and the northern Hama area. Donatella Rovera from Amnesty International told Al Jazeera that she witnessed “evidence of indiscriminate air bombardment and artillery strikes” in all of the 26 towns and villages she visited in northern Syria".

Rebels offer reward on Assad as his sister reportely left to Dubai: The number two of the Free Syrian Army Ahmed Al-Hijazi on Monday promised a reward of 25 million dollars to anyone who would deliver the rebels President Bashar al-Assad "dead or alive.""This amount will be paid by Syrian businessmen working both inside and outside the country," said the colonel without disclosing the identity of the persons in question.

Al-Hijazi also stressed that the purpose of this reward was to encourage the immediate action against President Assad. "The delivery of his head is worth much more, but this is what we have been able to collect," added Colonel. Meanwhile, there are reports about a rift between Bushra al-Assad, sister of the Syrian President and the widow of Gen. Asef Shawkat. Sources have claimed that Bushra left Syria to Dubai with her children.

Assad is going down.

I heard that Russia is gathering forces to go into Iran via Armenia for a quick strike through Georgia. We have a showdown setting up that looks disastrous for the worlds future. It will be a miracle if we can keep this from turning into WW3!

Death Sentence for a Top Iraqi Leader in a Day of Bloodshed: Bush's civil war is on!

Death Sentence for a Top Iraqi Leader in a Day of Bloodshed: The vice president of Iraq, a prominent Sunni Muslim, was convicted of murder and sentenced to death on Sunday in a trial conducted in absentia. The verdict coincided with a wave of bombings and insurgent attacks that claimed at least 100 lives, making Sunday one of the bloodiest days in Iraq since American troops withdrew last year.

Sunni leaders who support the vice president, Tariq al-Hashimi, responded angrily to the court’s action, accusing the Shiite-led government of trying to sideline them from a power-sharing arrangement meant to guard against the sectarian violence that continues to plague the country. Attacks were reported in at least 10 Iraqi cities on Sunday.

Wave of attacks in Iraq kill at least 75: Insurgents killed at least 75 people in a wave of attacks against Iraqi security forces on Sunday, gunning down soldiers at an army post and bombing police recruits waiting in line to apply for jobs, officials said.

The violence, which struck at least a dozen cities and wounded 285 people, highlighted militant attempts to sow havoc in the country and undermine the government. There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attacks, but security forces are a frequent target of Al Qaeda's Iraq branch, which has vowed to reassert itself and take back areas it was forced from before U.S. troops withdrew from the country last year.

It has all been for nothing to our veterans but to Bush it is success as Iraq's breakdown that he guaranteed with his illegal attack will spread throughout the middle east. Now it will be aided by Syria's breakdown spreading throughout the middle east. Turkey is already preparing to go into Syria after Turkish, Iraqi, and Syrian Kurds forming up and attacking from Syria. The total middle east breakdown we have seen coming and talked about from day one is fast approaching.

The breakdown Sunni against Shiite against Kurd was guaranteed the day Bush ignored all good advice to the contrary and attacked Iraq. It was guaranteed as soon as we left whether we left today or were stupid enough to hang around longer as Republican nominees are wrongly criticizing Obama for not doing. From Iraq it will spread throughout the entire middle east compliments of Bush not Obama.

The International Committee of the Red Cross, in a report titled "Iraq: No Let-up in the Humanitarian Crisis," writes, "Despite limited improvements in security in some areas, armed violence is still having a disastrous impact. Civilians continue to be killed in the hostilities. "The injured often do not receive adequate medical care. Nothing has changed people except in some cases to get worse.

Millions of people have been forced to rely on insufficient supplies of poor-quality water as water and sewage systems suffer from a lack of maintenance and a shortage of engineers." "Nothing has changed people but we are leaving them to their own demise and it will spread through the entire middle east."

Both Amnesty and the Red Cross slam the Iraqi government for failing to grapple with the critical needs of their populations.

The two reports cited a litany of concerns that will not be corrected, including severe widespread poverty, a lack of food and water, and broken families left to scrounge for whatever they can find to get by. Both reports described a situation that shows no sign of clear improvement. Many women "have been forced to wear Islamic dress or targeted for abduction, rape or killing. That is not to speak of the more than 2 million permanent nomads because of Bush's and Obama's.

If Bush had stayed in Afghanistan as he should have instead of diverting from the war on terror to attack Iraq so he could start implementing his new middle east order, Iraq may still have a Dictator but they would have security, electricity, water, fuel, and a lot more than they have now or will have in the future. We will never be able to bring services anywhere close to the level they were at when Saddam was in power. It is laughable to think that anyone thought they would be better post Saddam.

The Congressional investigation into reconstruction in Iraq found that six out of eight projects the Bush administration claimed to be a success were falling apart, throwing doubts over the long-term viability of much of the $30 billion program. I have to tell you, the entire program, the surge, Democracy, everything, was guaranteed lost from the get go. What ever is built will be destroyed.

The report looked at hospital projects that at last count their was one capable of operating at all and that great success. Each sect is only concerned with looking out for their own interest and future and as we are told to ignore everyday because it is not "the reality on the ground" reality is much worse! The inspectors found serious plumbing and electrical failures due to looting, equipment lying idle to me primarily because people are scared to death to venture out into the reality Bush has created for them. This 2007 report blames Iraqi's for the disaster Bush created and still exists today From the Political system to the oil Industry, Hospitals, electricity, plumbing, security, everything, It will not be turned around and will only get a lot worse before it spreads throughout the entire middle east.

In closing, the 2009 report:The humanitarian situation remained alarming. According to the UN, at least 4 million Iraqis still did not have enough food, around 40 per cent of the population did not have access to clean drinking water, and 30 per cent did not have access to adequate health care services. The education system was near collapse with schools and universities lacking essential materials such as books, and teachers and students terrorized by violence. Many schools were bombed. The unemployment rate remained extremely high at 50 per cent or even higher. If this is success the entire middle east is screwed!

In the middle of our "success" I still see a total civil war Sunni against Shiite erupting in the Middle East because Bush freed up Iran to instigate it on their end and they are. I still am concerned we will have a permanent presence in the Middle East but feel we will have to largely leave Iraq to her own demise. We will still be there but it looks like Yemen, and the Gulf of Aden will be the prime focus unless Iran gets something going between the US and Iran.

As you know, I talk about it often as I watch Bush's new Middle East (dis)order progress. He ignored Afghanistan so he could use the patriot acts powers to divert from Afghanistan to attack Iraq using the excuse of unseating Saddam so he could get in the Middle East to help Israel establish a buffer zone and establish a new middle east (dis) order or so Israel and Cheney thought. Bush at Cheney's urging made an abrupt shift in policy towards Syria, a shift that has now brought the entire Mideast region to the brink of war and chaos. Much worse than the hell on earth they created for Iraq. Did you ever read A clean Break a 2003 Executive intelligence Review that tells the truth as to our diabolical plans

That plan was put together in 1996 for Israel. They were just waiting for an idiot to come along so they could implement their plan for the Middle East. Along came the life long follower and life long alcoholic loser Georgie Bush. I wish I could say the rest is History but this is still barely beginning and just beginning to take shape. All Bush did by ignoring Afghanistan and attacking Iraq was to guarantee a loss of everything and a complete Middle East and Asian Breakdown.

We freed Iran up to pursue her version of new middle East order by interfering wherever she could while Bush was doing the same thing with his Middle East Democratization program. I think you can see how successful Bush and Cheney were with chaos creating Middle East Democracy program but you are barely seeing the results they created in Iran.

The goal absolutely is to be the country who decides which direction the new Middle East (dis)order will take. Bush started it by attacking Iraq to get into the middle east to destabilize it and start the new middle east order the idiot said God told him to do now it will be up to Iran and Saudi Arabia at least up front fight it out whether this goes the Iranian Shiite way or the Saudi Arabian Sunni way and do not forget Israel!

You know I firmly believe and have said so a million times by now that since 9/11 everything was construed to allow Bush to gain the power he needed to prosecute his new order not just in the Middle East but on the entire world! He diverted from Afghanistan to get back into the Middle East with the goal of setting up a larger safety zone for Israel and going after Iran. Both will fail! It has long been my contention that coming to Israel's aid once they attack Iran will be our in to Iran!

What about the Kurds who want their autonomy and they do not want to share their oil fields period. Nuri Al-Maliki wants that issue resolved and it will never be. The entire middle east and north Africa and our more than century of interference and exploitation can take the blame for that too.

Bush has created a hell on earth for Iraq that he still calls liberty and success with promises to spread it throughout the entire Middle East Sunni against Shiite.

Taliban says won't hurt held US soldier Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, They don't kill captives?

Taliban says won't hurt held US soldier: he U.S. says that Bergdahl has been held by the Haqqanis since 2009."The American soldier is with the Emirate center [a reference to Taliban based inside Afghanistan]. ... The Americans also know it," the Haqqani commander said. "We are not cowards, and we consider it as coward to harm prisoners," he said.

From his home in Idaho, the soldier's father, Bob Bergdahl, welcomed the assurances but was cautious. "That's great news, but we're very careful about the information we digest," he said. Sirajuddin Haqqani, the organization's military commander, is seeking permission from Taliban leader Mullah Mohammed Omar to stage a blitzkrieg of attacks against U.S. forces in Afghanistan, the commander said.

We have heard that Bergdahl has become Muslim and sympathetic towards his captors and their cause but I would expect that real or contrived. This is the right thing to do regardless of how this turns out. He was even promoted to sergeant during his capture.

Remember when Bergdahl was first captured retired Lieutenant Colonel Ralph Peters an ex army intelligence officer I have yet to find any proof of combat duty is willing to condemn PFC Bergdahl for desertion. He said if Bergdahl betrayed his fellow soldiers by deserting while in Afghanistan that he would not mind if the Taliban killed him and save the US time and money. I know Peters is a Faux news pundit but I refuse to believe him or anyone there will condemn a fellow American to serve their Political purpose.

I feel for this man, this is Afghanistan not the US. Do you remember the nonsensical rhetoric coming from Fox news? Fox News Contributor Ralph Peters: Taliban Should Kill Captured US ...

Bergdahl was captured June 30th 2009 under what is still unknown circumstances. Two US officials said Bergdahl appears to have just wandered off his post unarmed. I also heard he just wandered into Town to visit Afghani's he thought had befriended him. I also heard he was drunk and wandered off base to be picked up by the Taliban. Also that he was grabbed by civilians and turned over to the Taliban. I am stunned to hear betrayal and desertion even from a Faux pundit.

I mean come on. This is Afghanistan. We are perceived as the invaders the infidels the enemy unwanted in their country. I can not envision anyone being that naive, that anti American that stupid as to go A.W.O.L. in Afghanistan. We heard the horror stories over the years. These people are among the most feared ruthless combatants in the world. Walk into their hands? Come on! Wandering into the Sahara Desert naked would be preferential.

Bergdahl is an American an American soldier an adventurer by those who know him. I refuse to believe he is totally stupid! Faux pundit Peters has an obvious proven pension for murder.A while back I remember him advocating the murder off journalists by our military. Peters calls for military killing of Journalists

I guess they can be thankful they are going to Stateside prisons because in the past he has also advocated killing all the prisoners in Gitmo. I do not have to remind you that many were known to be innocent.

Many people including me want to see Bergdhal rescued first and then find out the truth. Despite the idiocy expressed by Faux news pundits Bergdahl has a lot of Americans very concerned. Capture of US Soldier, 23, Shakes Small Idaho Town

It is bad enough knowing the Taliban have captured him. I really feel for him knowing the Haqanni's have him. They are ruthless! Sirajuddin Haqqani travels regularly into Afghanistan to coordinate with field commanders and occasionally to Peshawar and South Waziristan to connect with militants there.

Muslim leaders call for patience toward anti-Islam film as Islamist Nations continue to instigate for Osama Bin Laden's vendetta

Actress: Anti-Islam filmmaker 'was playing: Lily Dionne had been in Hollywood a week when she answered an ad on Craigslist looking for actors for an action-adventure film called "Desert Warrior." Now, Dionne says she feels betrayed by the California filmmaker who turned the low budget-movie with a threadbare plot into an anti-Islam film that provoked outrage -- with sometimes violent results -- in parts of the Muslim world.

When news broke that violent mobs attacked the U.S. consulate in the Libyan city of Benghazi, leaving Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans dead, she was overwhelmed. "I was shaking when I found out. I had no idea," Dionne told CNN on Sunday. "This was a movie that I thought no one would ever see."

Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia calls to end attacks on embassies: The Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia, the highest religious authority in the kingdom, on Saturday condemned the attacks against diplomatic representations as contrary to Islam after protests that have rocked the Arab and Muslim world. Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al al Sheikh condemned the anti-Islamic film "The innocence of Muslims" which sparked protests and called on governments and international bodies to criminalize insults against the prophets.

"It is forbidden to punish the innocent for the crimes of the guilty or attack those who were given the protection of their lives and their property or public buildings exposed to fire or destruction," said the Grand Mufti in a speech quoted by the SPA news agency. Describing the film as "pathetic" and "criminal," he said attacks against innocent people and diplomats were "as a deformation of the Islamic religion." They "are not accepted by God," he said.

Muslim leaders call for patience toward anti-Islam film: Muslim leaders and local clerics want the local communities to be sensible rather than be sensitive and emotional in dealing with the mounting indignation over the controversial “The Innocence of Muslims” film, which has been perceived as a means to malign Islam.

Acting Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao Governor Mujiv Hataman said that he is convinced that the film’s having been uploaded to the video-sharing site, YouTube, could be a ploy to stir violent reactions from among Muslims and, as a consequence, destroy the image of Islam. Hataman said he is confident that while ARMM residents look up at the issue as an affront to the Islamic faith, they will deal with it according to the value of saba’r, the Arabic for patience and endurance.

Anti-US protests linger after deadly weekend of "insider attacks" in Afghanistan: There were violence protests at a U.S. military outpost near the Afghan capital Monday after a weekend of bloodshed that left at least six American troops dead - four of them in the latest apparent "insider attack" by Afghan defense forces.

The scuffles in the Afghan capital came after a bloody weekend that saw a renewal of the so-called "insider attacks" on Western forces by their Afghan partners, and an apparently misguided NATO airstrike on an alleged militant target which left at least eight Afghan women and girls dead.

Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah calls for Hezbollah supporters to protest against film:

KABUL - Protests Monday turned violent for the first time in Afghanistan and Indonesia over an American film mocking Islam as hundreds of angry men clashed with police, hurling stones and shouting "Death to America". The outbreaks of violence were the latest eruptions of anger over the low-budget trailer made in the United States and aired on YouTube that has fanned unrest around the world, leaving at least 18 people dead.

The movie entitled "Innocence of Muslims", believed to have been produced by a small group of extremist Christians, has sparked a week of furious protests outside US embassies and other American symbols in at least 20 countries.

Responsible Muslims are doing the right thing. They are calling for calm. The only reason the protests are growing and in more than 20 countries in the middle east and around the world is Islamist extremist have succeeded in keeping this alive. They have succeeded in keeping Osama Bin Laden's vendetta against the west alive. That said, it is time for normal citizen's Muslims included to forget this stupidity and get back to the business of life. It is time to isolate the extremists who will never stop as they have nothing else to do.

Responsible Muslims are going to have to police themselves is there is to be victory over the Islamists. They are getting stronger not weaker. Muslim's can not allow Islamists to continue to allow Islamists to blaspheme the very religion they are supposedly defending so they have the excuse to continue Osama Bin Laden's vendetta.

Ye we have done wrong by Islam in the past but there is no reason for this. The only thing it is accomplishing is to give a growing number of out of work disgruntled men a reason to fight. This has to stop!

Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia calls to end attacks on embassies

Consider the source if it matters and it doesn't Before he was involved in the making of a noxious video that provided an excuse for anti-American riots in the Middle East, and before he was convicted of federal bank fraud, Nakoula Basseley Nakoula was arrested on charges relating to the making of angel dust.

Court records reviewed by Danger Room show that Nakoula and a co-defendant were brought before the Los Angeles County Superior Courthouse in Downey, California on April 15, 1997. They were charged with possessing the narcotic’s chemical precursors with “the intent to manufacture phencyclidine,” otherwise known as angel dust or PCP.

Protests Over Film Expand to nearly 20 countries across the Middle East and beyond as Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia calls to end attacks on embassies

Anti-American Protests Over Film Expand to nearly 20 countries across the Middle East and beyond: The anger stretched from North Africa to South Asia and Indonesia and in some cases was surprisingly destructive. In Tunis, an American-run school that was untouched during the revolution nearly two years ago was completely ransacked. In eastern Afghanistan, protesters burned an effigy of President Obama, who had made an outreach to Muslims a thematic pillar of his first year in office.

The State Department confirmed that protesters had penetrated the perimeters of the American Embassies in the Tunisian and Sudanese capitals, and said that 65 embassies or consulates around the world had issued emergency messages about threats of violence, and that those facilities in Islamic countries were curtailing diplomatic activity. The Pentagon said it sent Marines to protect embassies in Yemen and Sudan.
