video of Syria burying rebel alive as Syrian forces, rebels clash in Latakia when 100's of armed Syrians defect

Syrian troops video'd burying rebel alive, Rebels attack Syrian soldiers from sea, several killed, ‎Hundreds of soldiers defected from the Syrian armed forces on Sunday in the outskirts of Damascus and in the port city of Latakia,

Rebels attack Syrian army from sea, several killed: ‎Gunmen in inflatable dinghies killed several security officials in an attack on a military unit on Syria’s Mediterranean coast, state media said on Saturday, the first seaborne assault reported during the revolt against the government of President Bashar Al Assad as the Lebanese navy intercepted three containers of weapons destined for Syrian rebel forces on board a ship originating from Libya.

Syria’s official Sana news agency said several gunmen and soldiers died in fighting that followed the coastal attack near the northern port of Latakia, 35 km south of the Turkish border.

Syrian forces, rebels clash in Latakia: At least 10 military defectors died during clashes in a village in the Damascus countryside, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said. Three civilian fatalities were reported in various cities, including Homs, where a man died after a gang supporting the regime attacked him with knives, according to the London-based Syrian Network for Human Rights.

Defectors also clashed with forces in the coastal city of Latakia, where a presidential palace is located, according to the observatory. The new attacks came a day after a bomber struck near a mosque in the capital of Damascus, killing nine people -- most of them government forces, Syrian state-run media reported. It described the attack in Midan district as a "terrorist bombing."

Hundreds of soldiers defected from the Syrian armed forces on Sunday in the outskirts of Damascus and in the port city of Latakia, where large explosions were heard near the presidential palace, the Syrian Media Center reported. Sima Malaki, spokesperson of the center, which represents the Syrian opposition, said dozens of soldiers defected from an army unit that was positioned near the presidential palace in Latakia.

The official news agency SANA reported that “one of the military units stationed off the coast of Latakia thwarted an attempt by an “armed terrorist group” trying to infiltrate from the sea,” quoting an unnamed military source. The Syrian Observatory for Human rights and activists confirmed that clashes broke out between Syrian troops and armed opposition forces in the village of Borj Islam near a presidential palace early Saturday morning. Activist Sema Nassar said the fighting began as “officers and soldiers of a military base near the presidential palace ... deserted with their weapons.”

I tried to find figures as to how many soldiers have now defected but could not. At last count 25,000 had defected but as of late despite atrocities by pro Assad forces the defections are increasing. Hundreds at once and by a lead force so close to the palace has got to be making Assad nervous. I wish I had saved the link but I read a story from Syria that the Alawite minority was getting nervous. Some were getting nervous in Latakia and other Alawite areas that the other religions were going to come chop off their heads.

I now believe they have reason to worry. In the beginning we knew it would take the whole military to defect were this insurrection to have a chance and it looks like it is happening despite knowing Assad followers would put them to death if caught. At the very least the rebels will in the end know they are not fighting only the Alawite minority but Lebanese and Iranian IRG.

Any way you look at it the Russian's and Chinese have drawn the line on what they view as US hegemony and with the blood of the Syrian people. Taking us on is why Putin stole himself an extended election. This is just the opening battle in the war to determine who is going to lead the way into the future. It will not be short or good. As time progresses wars do not get easier they get much worse. Be very concerned!

Haqqani 101

Afghan President Hamid Karzai has appealed to the Taliban to stop their attacks, saying renewed violence is only serving to prolong foreign presence in Afghanistan. President Karzai's comments on Tuesday came a day after an 18-hour insurgent offensive across Afghanistan claimed the lives of four civilians, 11 Afghan security personnel and 36 militants.

Addressing an audience of college students in Kabul, Karzai said violence by the Taliban does not benefit Islam, Muslims or the Afghan people. "You did nothing for Islam, you did not work for Afghanistan's independence and you did not work for its people, freedom and development. You worked to prolong a foreign presence," he said. The Taliban claimed responsibility for the coordinated assaults on embassies, government buildings and NATO military bases, which ended Monday. But Afghan and U.S. officials blame the Pakistan-based Haqqani network.

The Haqqani's took credit for this, another failure and indication of not their strength but their weakness. Imagine, they are under the thumb of Karzai to the point where he tells them to stop the attack you are hurting Afghanistan not the West and he is right.

With the death of Osama Bin Laden we were asked what his death would mean for the war in Afghanistan. Like the so called war on terror which includes the Taliban, Al Qaeda of every creed, and extremists of every ilk looking to carry on Osama's vendetta against the west, it will serve to fuel their cause like many other issues. His death should mean just the opposite and it does to all true Muslims.

In searching though I found them to be known rapists and murderers and of course not true Muslims or faithful followers of Muhammad and true Islam. Some of the Haqqani's and commanders have even been captured and held after traveling to Saudi Arabia for the haj and gathering donations for their cause.

The Haqqani's and their legendary stature are holding the so called terrorists force together. Their stature is legendary and hard earned.
The Haqqani network and their increasingly foreign fighters have become the main focus after 9 years of fighting. The Haqqani Network's North Waziristan leadership -- usually called the Miram Shah Shura consists of a number of Haqqani family members and closely associated long-serving commanders.

At the top of the network is Sirajuddin Haqqani, who oversees the group's political and military activities and is the main liaison to the Mullah Muhammad Omar led Quetta Shura Taliban, the Taliban's leadership body (named for the capital of Pakistan's Baluchistan province). He is also one of the network's liaisons to Pakistani Taliban figures and AL-Qaeda.

He travels regularly into Afghanistan " or should I say did as he now claims to be based in Afghanistan" to coordinate with field commanders and occasionally to Peshawar and South Waziristan to connect with militants there. Remember Bowe Bergdhal? There are many field commanders in Afghanistan, but turnover is high because many get killed or captured. The most prominent is Mullah Sangin, who is believed to be holding Pfc. Bowe Bergdahl a captured U.S. soldier and Zakim Shah the movement's shadow governor of Khost province.

Bowe Bergdahl a captured U.S. soldier and Zakim Shah the movement's shadow governor of Khost province. Inside the Haqqani network

Jalaluddin Haqqani legendary leader who fought the Soviets and his son, Sirajuddin who directs operations are increasingly the targets of drones and now manned NATO aircraft in Pakistan as the Pakistani's have been leery to go in the area for whatever reason. Many are being killed, I heard over 80 in a week with no civilian casualties.

I wish we would quickly kill the Haqqani's, both Jalaluddin and Sirajuddin and leave the rest to Pakistan as our invasion of their country even to kill Taliban and Al Qaeda fighters who were known killers of NATO forces may be the straw that broke the camels back.

I would hate to see the Haqqani network unite with Pakistan " who they once had close ties with particularly the ISI", against us as Pakistan is still furious and rightly so though it may be a ploy to placate civilians. I wish we would just come home. I do not want to see the scenario I discussed many times and that is taking on Pakistan from the Gulf and don't forget Iran!

Anyway you look at it we are viewed as temporary and the violent convoluted backstabbing tribal relationships will always be a way of life in the border area especially. We can only be very concerned how this is going to turn out between NATO, Afghanistan, and Pakistan. It won't be translucent or good!

The Haqqani's seem true to Mullah Omar who want us out of Afghanistan and want their independent Afghanistan. Pakistan has proven they do not want a free and independent Afghanistan but want to control it. At this point I want to say our soldiers have done their job let them come home as scheduled if not sooner. Let Mullah Omar the Haqqani's and other Taliban interests fight for Afghanistan it is theirs not ours or Pakistan's. Good luck Hamid Karzai that's all I say!

Angry Afghans chop off ears of roadside bomb suspect as Karzai suggests stepping down:

Does this building look familiar? The Taliban dressed as women and did this last year too

Angry Afghans chop off ears of roadside bomb suspect as Karzai suggests stepping down: I do believe the people are finally ready to control their destiny

Son succeeds Afghan talks chief : The son of murdered Afghan peace talks chief Burhanuddin Rabbani has been appointed to replace him.Salahuddin Rabbani will chair the country's High Peace Council, which leads Afghan efforts to negotiate with the Taliban.Mr Rabbani is currently ambassador to Turkey. His father, a former president and mujahedeen leader, was killed by a suicide bomber last September. His death was seen as a major blow to reconciliation efforts in the country.

Believe it or not despite all the recent setbacks to the contrary, now that Burhanuddin has taken over the talks with the Taliban and the people have finally started to stand up against them I feel very good about the future for the Afghan people Democracy or not.

Angry Afghans chop off ears of roadside bomb suspect: Angry residents in the southern Afghan province of Helmand on Thursday chopped off the ears of a man accused of planting a roadside bomb that killed two civilians, an official said. 'Following the incident the residents of the area arrested the alleged mine planter and wanted to hang him in public,' Mr Ahmadi said. Police and the local district governor were forced to intervene to save the man's life, but the furious residents had already cut off his ears, Mr Ahmadi said. It is about time!

100 militants killed or captured in Afghanistan Afghan security forces did this by themselves people!

Attacks in Afghanistan end after 18 hours of intense battle: Fighting ended Monday morning some 18 hours after the Taliban launched a coordinated attack on Western embassies, NATO headquarters and Afghan government facilities in the capital Kabul and three eastern provinces. The attacks, marked by extensive gunfire, explosions and rocket attacks and among the most serious to hit the capital since the Taliban was driven from power in 2001, saw eight Afghan security personnel and three civilians killed, Interior Minister Besmillah Mohammadi said Monday. Afghan officials also added that at least 36 insurgents were killed and more than a dozen wounded or captured.

Remember that building? The Taliban has done this before. This time Afghan security put this to rest by themselves. This is the Taliban's spring offensive, empty buildings. This has put Afghanistan on guard, They can do this. They should let the Taliban help in Government but must keep them under control, If not the consequence will be death to any form of self Government and loss of life and limb to the people and women wanting equality.

Hamid Karzai may step down early from Afghan presidency: "I have been talking about this for some time now, and this is quite a good consideration, [whether] we cannot have all of that accomplished in 2014 because of the heavy agenda," Karzai told a news conference in Kabul, held with the visiting Nato secretary general, Anders Fogh Rasmussen."Should we allow the transition process to complete itself in 2014, but bring the presidential election one year earlier to 2013?" he said. He also raised the possibility of bringing the security handover forward. Earlier this year he called for a sped up transition schedule.

Some among the group of about 30 women were pictured holding placards that read "Where is justice?" They took to the streets following the killing of five Afghan women in less than a month in three provinces of the country, AFP said. Concern is mounting among some Western officials, activists and some of the country's lawmakers that women's rights could be compromised under any power-sharing deal between the government and the Taliban, which President Hamid Karzai has been seeking to end the war, Reuters reported.

Activists were outraged last month when Karzai appeared to back recommendations from his powerful clerics, the Ulema Council, to segregate the sexes and allow husbands to beat wives under certain circumstances, reminiscent of Taliban rule, Reuters said. The Islamist group banned women from most work, education and the right to vote during their 1996-2001 rule, laws which halted Koofi's medical studies following her bachelor degree in law and political science.
Karzai out of the Presidency will finish this for me and open a new chapter in the history of Afghanistan. Afghanistan can do this!

Syria: Kofi Annan alarmed at surges in violence - live updates: France raises prospect of military action in Syria

70 civilians of all ages killed, by a scud missile?

Syria: Kofi Annan alarmed at surges in violence - live updates: Russia and China have have called for a speedier deployment of more UN monitors, according to the diplomatic blog Inner City Press. It quotes China's ambassador to the UN Li Baodong as saying: "I think we should deploy observers as soon as possible. Kofi needs that, the people in Syria need that. Let people go to Syria to monitor the situation."

France raises prospect of military action in Syria: French Foreign Minister Alain Juppe said France had discussed invoking Chapter 7 of the U.N. Charter, which can be enforced militarily, with other world powers. U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said last week the United Nations should move toward such a step to allow for measures like travel and financial sanctions and an arms embargo. She didn't mention military action. The U.S. has for more than a year opposed the further militarization of the situation.

Any such move, however, would likely be blocked by Russia and China, which have twice used their vetoes as permanent Council members to protect Syria from condemnation and remain opposed to military intervention. Western powers, too, don't appear interested in sending forces to another Middle East nation in turmoil.

The Syrian government is "in contravention" of an internationally agreed peace plan, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has warned. Mr Ban "remains deeply troubled" by the continued presence of heavy weapons and troops in Syria's cities as reported by UN monitors, his spokesman said. Mr Ban demanded that Damascus comply with the peace plan without delay. The comments come as up to 70 people were killed in an attack on a house in Hama, according to Syrian activists.

They said several houses in the Masha at-Tayyar district in southern Hama were destroyed by a big explosion. Following the blast in Hama, activists posted video on the internet showing a scene of devastation, with bodies being pulled from the rubble. One report said 13 children and 15 women were among the dead. They said the blast was caused by government shelling or even a Scud missile attack.

Assad is not going to leave. Assad calls the protesters and peace workers terrorists and promises to stamp them out. This has barely begun!

We are going to get dragged into this rest assured and you can't really think at least Russia and Iran will not come out in the open: I remember saying from day one that it would take almost the whole military to defect before they would have a chance and now that we know how involved Russia, Iran and Hezbollah are in the slaughtering that is going on around the country that is beginning to look like the beginning of their fight.

You have to be very concerned about what is happening in Syria especially. Russia, China, and Iran are not going to allow Syria to fall to Democracy. What we saw after the voter fraud in Iran was mild compared to what the IRG will do if this movement spreads to Iran. I really wish Bashar would step down but Iran is the elephant in the room any way you look at it. The total middle east breakdown we have written about numerous times is well under way. We can only hope we keep it from erupting into WW3.

In closing: You know Putin just got himself reelected as President, he did this so he could be at the helm of Russia as he like me knows 100% that world war is our future. He plans on marshaling China who is rapidly building a more formidable military and whoever he can to take on US hegemony. Russia watched helplessly as we had our way in Libya. Putin blames what is happening in Syria on our interference and Libya for training the protesters to fight against Bashar Al-Assad. Russia and Iran will not let this be another Libya but?

Putin is going to do everything possible to keep us from helping the Syrian people and I really feel for them. I do not see this going down the way Libya did and Iran and Russia are going to make sure it does not. I am afraid the Syrian people are going to be sacrificed, sacrificed in what is merely an opening salvo in this the wars for future dominance. God help us!

New hope for Intelligent life on other planets. Watch the awesome slide show!

I would settle for intelligent life on earth but this is Awesome!

Intelligent life beyond Earth might not be as dim a hope as many scientists thought, according to a new study challenging a widely held anti-ET argument researched by astrobiologist Milan M. Cirkovic and colleagues. Check out the astrobiological clock and the Supernova, awesome! There is some phenomenal research here I recommend enlightening yourself! They found the flaw some of us knew existed in past theories!

I had to run down to the VA so I am going to lighten up today and let you look at some beautiful pictures and contemplate the very real possibility that we are not alone as many of us already knew. astrobiologist Milan M. Cirkovic found a serious flaw in theory of how life is formed in the planetary system not just here on earth. Being a knower that we are not alone and from childhood an astrology buff and searcher of the stars I read the work and delved into every link. Fantastic!

Cirkovic's theories connect the life of a star and the evolution of life on a planet and I invite you to read the theories and look at the Beautiful picture of galaxies and planetary life forming. New hope for intelligent life on other planets

With Billions of Galaxies and billions upon billions upon billions of planets as the basic cycle of life progresses you know earth is not a one shot thing and we do have company.

Officially we may know about it but like everything else impacting our lives it will be denied and kept secret until we have to deal with it head on. I have written about it extensively in a series I called Religion and the lies we call history which I included in one of my books.

By researching different beliefs it was simple to put them all together and come up with the truth about life on earth. The truth in anything can not be found in one belief or the other one always must look at them and objectively put the truth together. I will not get any deeper than that but will introduce you to two important sources of research you may want to read. Have you ever heard of retired Sister Karen Armstrong and her history of God?

How about Erich Von Daniken'sExtraterrestrial influence on early culture and Chariots of the Gods Anyway I better stop, you have enough to think about from the astrobiological clock to the believed truths about life on earth. You don't need my thoughts!!

Bashar al-assad must leave Syria Dead or alive now or the carnage will continue!

Syrian rebels target security officials in capital: Rebels seeking to topple Syrian President Bashar Assad killed three regime officers in separate attacks Tuesday around Damascus, activists and state media said, the latest violence targeting the security forces used by the government to quash dissent.
A bomb hidden in an army truck also exploded in the capital, wounding several people. The persistent bloodshed has tarnished efforts by a U.N. team of observers to bolster a truce that the international community sees as the last-chance to prevent the country from falling into civil war.

Syrian Intelligence Officer Killed in Damascus Attack: Dead or alive; Meanwhile, Tunisian President Moncef al-Marzouki said his embattled Syrian counterpart is "finished" and will eventually leave power "dead or alive."

Marzouki told the pan-Arab Al-Hayat newspaper Tuesday that Assad's international allies, "the Russians, Chinese and Iranians, must understand this man is finished and...persuade him to leave power." Addressing the Syrian leader directly, he said "it is better for you and your family to leave alive, because if you decide to leave dead, that means that you have caused the deaths of tens of thousands of innocents."

Reports of carnage and widespread violence in Syria continue to grow despite the U.N. Security Council's agreement to boost the number of monitors in the country.A huge explosion rocked central Damascus on Tuesday, according to the opposition Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. The group had no immediate information on possible casualties.

On the opposition side, at least 11 people were killed in Syria Tuesday, including two who died as a result of torture, according to the opposition Local Coordination Committees of Syria. Two of the dead are women, the LCC said.

China's military warns of confrontation over seas as they set it up

China's military warns of confrontation over seas: China's military warned the United States on Saturday that U.S.-Philippine military exercises have raised risks of armed confrontation over the disputed South China Sea, in the toughest high-level warning yet after weeks of tension. China's official Liberation Army Daily warned that recent jostling with the Philippines over disputed seas where both countries have sent ships could boil over into outright conflict, and laid much of the blame at Washington's door.
Other nations must take stand on China: Philippines: The Philippine foreign secretary called on other nations to take a stand on China's new aggressiveness in a simmering territorial dispute over a shoal in the South China Sea. Albert del Rosario on Sunday warned in a statement that other nations would be affected by China's claim over the mineral-rich area if they did not speak up now, like the Philippines is doing.
He added that China's efforts to claim the entire South China Sea as its territory was "clearly baseless." The statement came amid increased tensions after China deployed ships near the Scarborough Shoal, an outcropping in the South China Sea just about 230 kilometres (140 miles) from the Philippines' main island of Luzon. The nearest Chinese land mass from Scarborough Shoal is Hainan province, 1,200 kilometres, (750 miles) to the northwest, according to Philippine naval maps given to the media.
The six days of Chinese-Russian drills are taking place in the Yellow Sea off the city of Qingdao in Shandong province on China's east coast, the official China News Service said. China and Russia have held four joint military drills since 2005, but these are the first dedicated naval exercises, a Chinese expert said. Yin Zhuo, who advises the Chinese navy, said the number of ships involved was unprecedented - China has 16 naval vessels and two submarines taking part in this exercise while Russia has four warships.

Japan's defense ministry said in a recent report that China was becoming increasingly active in waters near Japanese territory while Russia was holding more frequent military exercises in its far east region. These exercises by the way are going on at the same time as our build up in Australia to hem China in and our on going naval exercise with the Philippines.

The long run up to the China sea's conflict and the US and allies verse Russia and China competing naval muscle flexing I mean exercises

Being in a superior position puts one in a unique position of power and that power must be handled gracefully, with humility, responsibly, and not abused. That is something I taught all my sons and America under Bush did a lousy job of handling. I am a little worried that China too is getting a little too heavy handed and abusive with her new position of power and beginning to take what she wants instead of being content with what she has which is what I constantly lecture has to be the case if we are to have a future. The time when man and the planet could handle war and colonialism is over, period or else!

We are Taiwan's and Japan's protectors. As China flex's their military muscles in the area we are not supposed to worry. Just what are we supposed to think they are going to do with their advanced weaponry, missiles, stealth aircraft, aircraft carriers and the like. Their threats are going to become more ominous until they cannot be ignored and it is too late. We have been here before. The world was not supposed to worry as Hitler built his arsenal and we know how that turned out.

China sends 3rd ship in standoff with Philippines: Despite the past this is the beginning of China's military pomposity in Asia

Philippines Warship, Chinese Vessels in Standoff: The Philippines foreign ministry said the standoff began Tuesday when Manila's flagship naval vessel, the Gregorio del Pilar, confronted eight Chinese fishing boats near a disputed shoal off the northwest province of Zambales. It said the two Chinese surveillance vessels then positioned themselves between the Philippines Navy ship and the fishing vessels, "preventing the arrest of the erring Chinese fishermen."

Both countries claim ownership of the shoal, which is known as Panatag in the Philippines, and as Huangyan Island in China. Tensions in the region have risen in recent years as China becomes increasingly assertive about its claims over the entire 3.5 million-square-kilometer South China Sea, which is thought to be rich in oil and gas.

China sends 3rd ship in standoff with Philippines: China deployed a third ship Thursday in an area of the disputed South China Sea where a tense standoff with Philippine vessels has dragged on, sparking alarm in Manila. One of the Chinese ships blocked the entrance to a lagoon at the shoal, where at least eight Chinese fishing vessels were anchored. The Chinese ships also ordered the Philippine warship to leave Scarborough, claiming Chinese sovereignty over the rich fishing ground.

But the warship has stayed put, arguing it is Philippine territory. "We're not retreating from our own territory," Pama said. Aside from Scarborough, the South China Sea is home to a myriad of competing territorial claims, most notably the Spratly Islands south of the shoal, an island chain claimed by China, the Philippines, Vietnam, Brunei, Malaysia and Taiwan.

Philippines, US Begin Military Exercises as Standoff With China Continues

Philippines, China recall protest to ease standoff

China is squeezing all her neighbors in what is just a developing fight for Asian seas and islands unfound mineral and other natural riches.:
TONY JONES, Australian Broadcasting: Now, do you support the idea of using the Cocos Islands as an air base for US surveillance aircraft? DAVID JOHNSTON: Oh, absolutely. I think our closest ally, if they're prepared to assist us in the management of what is a huge maritime frontier, I would welcome that and I know the Coalition would welcome that.

TONY JONES: There does seem to be a plan to either replace or supplement Diego Garcia, to build another version of it possibly. We should note that the US Navy operates that base in Diego Garcia for warships. It also has a military air base there under lease from Britain. So would a Coalition government be prepared to undertake a similar arrangement with the United States in the Cocos Islands?

Cocos Island - Image Results It is absolutely gorgeous and geographically placed to spy on China!

US, Thailand hold largest military drill in Asia Pacific: The Cobra Gold 2012, the largest ever multinational military exercise in the Asia-Pacific region jointly held by Thailand and the United States, began in Thailand on Feb. 7. More than 13,000 military personnel from the United States, Thailand, Japan, South Korea, Indonesia, Singapore, and Malaysia have participated in the 11-day exercise.

The Cobra Gold exercise has been held annually since 1982. Given the large scale and busy schedule of the 31st Cobra Gold exercise this time and America’s newly unveiled military strategy that switches focus to the Asia-Pacific region, analysts believe that this exercise will be an important step the United States takes to enhance ties and expand cooperation with its Asian allies and to achieve its goal of “returning to Asia” and shifting its strategic focus eastward.

China says US defense policy stance misjudges Beijing intent: judge for yourself

China says US defense policy stance misjudges Beijing intent: The United States' expanded military presence in Asia is based on a miscalculation of Beijing's intent to modernize its military defenses, China said on Monday, taking a tempered stance in its first official response to Washington's plan. The United States unveiled a defense strategy last week to boost capacity in Asia, an attempt to counter China's growing ability to check U.S. power in the region, that comes with a pledged reduction in the overall size of U.S. forces. I think we have it just right this time if Iran will allow us the luxury.

China and U.S. Brinkmanship in the South China Sea: Two weeks ago, The Washington Post broadsided us with another Beltway bombshell: China's "Underground Great Wall" – a "vast network of tunnels" with a "sophisticated missile and nuclear arsenal" dug by "a secretive branch of the Chinese military."

China is also challenging its neighbors over the Spratly Islands, the Paracels, the Scarborough Shoals, Reed Bank and Tungsha in a South China Sea home to 17.7 billion tons of oil and gas? According to the Indonesian Center of Democracy, Diplomacy and Defense, Beijing has deployed 27 battleships, an aircraft carrier and unknown submarines to the area amid competing claims with Brunei, Malaysia, the Philippines, Taiwan and Vietnam.

After years of covering the growing tensions between China the US and all of the rest of Asia feeling bullied by China the story is getting long. Factbox: Pentagon details China's military expansion :The Pentagon said that China was on track to forge a modern military by 2020, a rapid buildup that could be potentially destabilizing to the Asia-Pacific region. Its annual assessment to Congress on China flagged all the major concerns over its growing military might, including Beijing's widening edge over Taiwan.

It also noted cyber attacks in 2010 -- including on U.S. government computers -- that appear to have originated in China. Here are details from the report Wow check out the wide expansion

The United States wants a prominent role in Asia to counter China's developing aggression The U.S. move to "return to Asia" aims to gain more interests from Asia's regional development and cement its dominant position in Asia. First, it should learn to get along with China. Its "return" to Asia has drawn people's attention back to a possible confrontation between itself and China. Many Western scholars believe that the reassertion of the leading U.S. role in Asia is directed against China because only China's rise can pose a potential challenge to its hegemony. Furthermore, a few Asian countries hope to take advantage of the United States, especially its military power, to strike a so-called strategic balance with China
.
U.S. wants to use India in missile shield against Russia, China

We have been discussing increased tensions due to ownership claims over long disputed islands and unrecovered raw material riches below the east and South China Seas for years. China is embroiled in territorial disputes with Vietnam, the Philippines, Taiwan, Malaysia, Brunei Japan, and India:

China has been making all these ownership claims while warning other Asian countries to stay away. Meanwhile they have supposedly been building their world war machine with "innocent" intentions. China accuses Japan of exaggerating it as a military threat: It is no exaggeration it is called truth and you better be concerned

and China calls weapons modernization drive warnings alarmist "cock-and-bull story.

Also US senators warn Beijing on South China Sea, China warns US to stay out of it

All this to no avail as China's answer is always that her intentions are innocent "yeah like Hitler's military buildup prior to WW2" We must all stop playing these games at this point and like it or not "share" if we are to survive into the future. Sadly we know the powers to be are not smart enough to do that. We are already in severe trouble with the condition of the world environmentally and due to power struggles getting ready to erupt in the Middle East and make things horrifically worse in many regards.

I am a little worried that China too is getting a little too heavy handed and abusive with her new position of power and beginning to take what she wants instead of being content with what she has which is what I constantly lecture has to be the case if we are to have a future. The time when man and the planet could handle war and colonialism is over, period or else!

We are Taiwan's, the Philippines, and Japan's protectors and now Vietnam's. Vietnam is no real threat to China so what is up here? As China flex's their military muscles in the area we are not supposed to worry. Just what are we supposed to think they are going to do with their advanced weaponry, missiles, stealth aircraft, aircraft carriers and the like.

Their threats are going to become more ominous until they cannot be ignored and it is too late. We have been here before. The world was not supposed to worry as Hitler built his arsenal and we know how that turned out. If peace is truly the goal then try something unique and share the wealth. We need peace to succeed as a world into the 21st century not more and never ending war.

To make the situation worse as we've discussed often, the US is pledged to defend Taiwan who "at least they say" will never unify under China. There is no way we can get militarily involved with China's lust to rebuild Imperial China. Three years ago the US signed a deal to deliver a massive amount of advanced weaponry to Taiwan. The package includes a variety of U.S.-made weapons systems, including Patriot III anti-missile missiles, Apache attack helicopters, Harpoon missiles and Javelin anti-tank missiles. This was 3 years ago Some deliveries are in process and some still being worked out.

China is not taking this lying down! We have covered East, South, and China sea disputes extensively

Knowing all of this I must once again express naivety. We are so kept in the dark as to any truth in any incident here and around the world. I had no idea or even thought in this context but President Hu Jintao's call for a rejuvenation of the country 100 years after the Xinhai Revolution that ended more than 2,000 years of dynastic rule in China is something new to me. Worse part is that this includes Taiwan too and China is not going to settle for no! China Urges Reunification at 100th Anniversary of Demise of Last Dynasty

President Hu calls on all of China's sons and daughters to join hands to carry on with the work of the Chinese Republic's first president, Sun Yat-sen, and realize his ideals of what he described as “China's great rejuvenation.” China has not been building her military and flexing her muscles for nothing. China wants Asia period and not just supremacy. She is going to have her Dynasty once again United States be damned. I do not like this, once again we are putting ourselves right in the middle of a growing conflict or war.

As we discussed there have been at least three cases of groups of Chinese military ships crossing through the area of Okinawa since November 2008, first 4 ships then 6 then 8 and now 10 including destroyers and submarines. That case appeared to be the first involving surfaced submarines. The group of 10 ships, including the submarines, was observed about 90 miles (140 kilometers) southwest of Okinawa in international waters.

Two missile destroyers and three frigate ships from the same group were spotted participating in a flight exercise of carrier-based helicopters April 7-9, the Defense Ministry's Joint Staff Office said in a statement The war ships were in international waters but close to Okinawa and Japan was not notified. That area as you may know has natural resources under the ocean and islands claimed by both Nations.

It is important that we stay in Okinawa as China plays a more important role in Asia and around the world as she gains strength militarily and economically as we just discussed. Remember our discussion on the importance of China and the US staying together to move successfully through the 21st century

We must maintain as much of the old world balance and order as we can to maintain a balance as we try to move progressively and successfully through the 21st century! I know of China and Japan's past, I know of the still ongoing Island disputes, the disagreement over natural gas in another area of the East China Sea, I also remember that with China's economic clout rising she took the number 3 seat on the world bank and we talk constantly that China is taking the leading role in Asia and Asia relations.

Earth Day 2012

Earth Day 42 years later and we are all the worse despite it!

We celebrate earth hour, earth day, earth week every year and every year we get much worse. Last year was pretty bad! Besides the normal suspects of our pollution problem which will follow I want to remind you of this: Global nuclear cover-up, Depleted uranium, Gulf war Syndrome, increased Autism Diabetes Cancer, they won't admit it but Now you know why! Leuren Moret is a whistle blower from the Livermore Lab. In her presentations she exposes shocking and highly suppressed facts about our Government poisoning is with radiation right at this very moment.

Leuren documents every statement she makes with research documents many of which are actual Government Data to draw their conclusions. Did you know that diabetes, Autism, and other forms of mental illness are caused by exposure on nuclear radiation. No wonder Diabetes and Autism are on the upswing and supposedly no one knows why. You have to believe they do not want you to know the truth here too. watch the video of Lauren speaking the truth about the nuclear coverup

From nuclear testing we have switched to nuclear power plants that are causing increasingly high rates of cancer, birth defects, and literally an epidemic of diabetes. I have heard it mentioned here before that we have used weapons containing depleted Uranium and didn't really think too much about it because I really wasn't sure.

However watching this video totally documented that depleted uranium has not only turned Iraq and Afghanistan into uninhabitable nuclear holocaust for millions of years. Remember the Gulf war Syndrome? Depleted uranium was also used at Tora Bora. I was not aware of that! Cancer among soldiers is rampant!

We are giving our soldiers a death sentence. Why are we not testing our soldiers? You know why! Anyway it is also blowing over the rest of the planet causing Americans, Europeans, and others to die from radiation diseases. Global nuclear cover up

Now the standard problems: 880 mn people lack access to clean water: Red Cross

After happening onto Fabien Cousteau discussing the fact that it has now doubled in size in just 2 years and is now twice the size of Texas I was stunned and wanted to point this out. Fabien Cousteau on the dire condition of our ocean

Ocean Pollution Grows Larger From 100 Million Tons of Garbage .

there are huge islands of garbage swirling together into ever-growing "cyclones" of debris

Continent-sized swirl of rubbish raises alarm , it is a horrible new Habitat

* Wake up we are killing our Mother and not with kindness. We throw away 43,000 tons of food away every day in America. That is sick in itself! The world is starving hell even Americans are starving and we just throw away 43,000 tons of food a year. Makes me want to scream.
* We are drowning in trash. A family of 5 generates 25 pounds of trash a day. What is our Population? Figure it out!
* We use 100 million plastic bags per year. Enough is enough!

* In closing we are running out of potable water and at the same time much of our chemicals we use to grow our food ends up in the ocean along with all our other debris. As a result the monstrous garbage swirl in the pacific described above is only one. There are many and they are in every ocean. The debris field in the pacific is 90 feet deep. We have to do something. We are drowning in our Garbage. It is taking over the world. The world as we knew it is already gone. The world as we know it is right behind unless we wake up and yesterday not next year!

Russia Sending Observers To Syria China to Send Observers to Syria, UN authorizes 300 Syria cease-fire observers, what do we have here ?

This UN observer thing is a big joke said activist Mohammed Saeed

Syria Troops Accused of Douma Attack: "This U.N. observers thing is a big joke," Mr. Saeed said. "Shelling stops and tanks are hidden when they visit somewhere, and when they leave, shelling resumes." Douma-based activist Mohammed Saeed said two people were killed by indiscriminate firing in the sprawling district, the scene of intense clashes between rebels and security forces before a cease-fire went into effect more than a week ago.

Chinese Foreign Ministry: China to Send Observers to Syria: China announced it will send persons to join the UN observer mission in Syria and is discussing the details with the UN Secretariat. Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesman Liu Weimin said in a press conference on Friday "China backs efforts to achieve a lasting ceasefire and start a political dialogue between all parties in Syria.'' He added that China will push ahead with its constructive role to reach an appropriate solution to the Syrian crisis.

UN authorizes 300 Syria cease-fire observers: The U.N. Security Council has unanimously approved a resolution expanding the number of U.N. observers in Syria from 30 to 300 and demanding an immediate halt to the violence that has been escalating since a cease-fire took effect over a week ago. The resolution approved Saturday gives Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon authority to decide when to deploy the additional observers, based on developments on the grounds including "the consolidation of the cease-fire."
Ban accused Syrian President Bashar Assad Thursday of failing to honor the cease-fire, expressing dismay at the upsurge in violence. The resolution merges rival Russian and European texts and dropped a European threat of non-military sanctions if Syria fails to withdraw troops and heavy weapons from towns and cities.

Russia has agreed to dispatch its monitors, currently deployed in the Golan Heights, to Syria. This came in an announcement by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. “Russia, among others, has been invited by the UN Secretariat to dispatch its observers with the Golan Heights contingent to oversee the Syrian ceasefire. We have given our consent,” Lavrov said at the briefing following his meeting with his Syrian counterpart in Moscow today.

Sergei Lavrov expressed his hope that all other UN states would be just as swift in their answer. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has said that, instead of pinning the blame on Russia and China, the US and others should try and find their “levers” to push for the Syrian authorities and the opposition to stop firing at each other. “We believe that the ceasefire must coincide with the international monitor mission’s arrival in Syria,” he stressed.

Syrian Protesters Mock Cease-Fire and U.N. Observers ...: Demonstrations erupted across Syria on Friday, with some of the protesters’ anger focused on United Nations observers, who have decided that they will not circulate on Fridays, the normal day for mass rallies that are suppressed by the government.

The Moroccan officer heading the advance team of United Nations observers in Syria, was quoted as telling reporters in Damascus that they would avoid Friday patrols, a statement that confirmed suspicions of many who have experienced the brunt of government oppression that the mission would be toothless.

“We don’t want to be used as a tool for escalating the situation,” he said. Those remarks were met with some disbelief, particularly in Damascus, where antigovernment protesters said they faced arrest, bullets, tear gas and a wide deployment of government security forces trying to suppress their demonstrations — all violations of the supposed cease-fire plan. One point of the six-point peace plan negotiated under United Nations auspices is that Syrians be allowed to demonstrate freely. “I have no hope in the monitors; if they don’t tour on Fridays, why did they come to Syria?”

Good question, why are more worthless monitors needed? Russia, China, the UN, they are all going to see the same things 3 different ways. There is no way the Chinese and the Russians are not going to aid Syria at least by turning the other cheek. UN, Russia, and China have competing horses in this race.

Russia said they would send observers almost 2 weeks ago And I have not heard a word from them. Their job must be to observe the slaughter and make sure no one gets in Assad's way. China's job must be to say they saw things a different way so none of the awful truth will get out. They will get away with saying it is all being perpetrated by terrorists and a grey area is once again created to hide the truth by someone who supposedly wants to do the right thing. Yeah the right thing for their agenda and that of Assad their ally. This is not a good development. What is going to happen once the observers start getting killed?

Putin blames what is happening in Syria on our interference and Libya for training the protesters to fight against Bashar Al-Assad.Russia and Iran will not let this be another Libya but?

Putin is going to do everything possible to keep us from helping the Syrian people and I really feel for them. I do not see this going down the way Libya did and Iran and Russia are going to make sure it does not. I am afraid the Syrian people are going to be sacrificed, sacrificed in what is merely an opening salvo in this the wars for future dominance. God help us!

U.S.'s Arctic plans may serve as a wake-up call for Canada and the world as they scramble for the resources as the Arctic thaws

The Cold War for Arctic resources is not just heating up – it’s leading to a growing militarization in the remote North.

That’s the conclusion a study by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute, which claims that Russia, Canada, Denmark and Norway are all developing their military interests there. Also, more countries are seeking access to the region’s important natural resources and transport routes, such as “outsiders” like China, India and Brazil.

U.S.'s Arctic plans may serve as a wake-up call for Canada: The Pentagon wants to know what’s happening in the Arctic; there’s an app for that. Well not yet, but Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency wants one in a hurry. In a call for proposals this week, it said it plans to pick, deploy and test two systems this summer. “Remote sensing may offer affordable advantages over traditional methods of monitoring the region – aircraft, satellites or manned ships and submarines – due to the great distances in the Arctic,” the agency said in a call for bids.

The U.S. military wants “new technologies to monitor the Arctic both above and below the ice, providing year-round situational awareness without the need for forward-basing or human presence.” Nothing nefarious about that. Except that slicing up the Arctic as retreating ice heralds a 21st-century resources rush and shipping boom at the top of the world is shaping up as a race for riches and control.Do you think it will matter?

I have been covering this for 5 years now, remember: The scramble for the Arctic: Russia to station 2 military Brigades in the Arctic: Vladimir Putin said Russia would strongly defend its interests and Putin is back
Russia's defense minister has said he plans to create two specialist army brigades to be based in the Arctic. The announcement comes days after Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said Russia would strongly defend its interests in the region.

Denmark to lay claim to North Pole: DENMARK which already counts Greenland and the Faroe Islands as its Arctic territories, is planning to lay claim to the North Pole. This will put Denmark on a collision course with Russia, the US, Canada and Norway but they all better make a share deal and avoid conflict over this.

I wanted to discuss that in 2007 when Russia declared that it had successfully planted their flag at the bottom of the Arctic claiming it as Russian territory Russia was disturbed that Canada the US and others dismissed it as a joke saying that is worthless in the 21st Century. Myself I wasn't as sure as it seems like a scary ratcheting up of the race for future resources and world domination. Well attitudes are changing when recent events are taken into account. I am sure Denmark's joining this venture will simply be dismissed.

It has been noted that Russian nostalgia for past greatness has been seen stretching from the North Pole to the Mediterranean via the Caucasus. First the Russians planted a flag on the bottom of the Arctic. Then they promised to return to the Mediterranean. .

Russia's Mediterranean plans pale in comparison with its audacious foray into the Arctic where they collected soil samples and planted the Russian flag two and a half miles below the sea. The official purpose of this first-ever manned mission was "to prove that the North Pole is an extension of the Russian coastal shelf." Geologists say the region could have big oil, gas and mineral reserves. Massive oil reserves is more like it!

Knowing that the Arctic features prominently in Russian Imperial mythology and the rising desire for Russia to regain prominence as a world power you have to be very concerned about this and Canada now is. Canada's prime minister went on a three-day trip to the Arctic in an effort to assert sovereignty over the region a week after Russia symbolically staked a claim to the North Pole by sending submarines.

Five countries -- Canada, Russia, the United States, Norway and Denmark -- are competing to secure subsurface rights to the Arctic seabed. One study by the U.S. Geological Survey estimates the Arctic has as much as 25 percent of the world's undiscovered oil and gas. PM Harper, who has pledged to spend billions defending Canada's sovereignty over the Arctic, is said "Economic development -- unleashing the resource-based potential of the North, environmental protection -- protecting the unique Northern environment, national sovereignty -- protecting our land, airspace and territorial waters were his priorities.

" In response to the building interest in the shelf Canada's PM Harper announced that six to eight new patrol ships would be built to guard the Northwest Passage sea route in the Arctic, which the United States insists does not belong to Canada. Canadian PM vowed in 2007 to defend Arctic

U.S. Ambassador David Wilkins had criticized Harper's promise to defend the Arctic, calling the Northwest Passage "neutral waters." This is all very troubling as we watch the ratcheting up of tensions around the world as we try to move into the future. The increased militarism around the world is tenuous but throw all the recent developments in with what is shaping up to be a fight over the Arctic and its resources which will only serve to ecologically destroy another very important part of the Ocean's and world's ecosystem in what is increasingly appearing in trouble.

Denmark's interest and claim is also old. The scramble for the Arctic also gathered pace in 2007 as Denmark prepared to challenge Russia's bid for the North Pole and Canada vowed to defend its "sovereignty" over the region's frozen waters. Boy are they getting desperate! Over the next month they searched for evidence that the Lomonosov Ridge, a 1,200-mile, underwater mountain range running close to the Pole, is a geographical extension of Greenland, a Danish possession. The mission it was felt would strain relations between Denmark and Russia, which claims to have found evidence linking the ridge to Siberia. Both countries will seek adjudication from a United Nations commission in the next few years that could award a large swathe of Arctic territory to the country with the most compelling case. The scramble for the arctic The time is coming closer!

French top diplomat says world must prepare for failure of Syria peace plan,

Syrian troops shell central city of Homs as French top diplomat says world must prepare for failure of Syria peace plan, Containing Syria's chemical weapons very dicey, these chemical weapons are ready for action, Europe, Russia propose rival resolutions on Syria

Syrian troops shell central city of Homs: Syrian troops shelled a rebel-held neighborhood and sent reinforcements to border areas as the opposition called for fresh protests Friday after the United Nations accused Syrian President Bashar Assad of failing to honor a peace plan that went into effect a week ago.
The latest violence came hours after Western and Arab diplomats from the "Friends of Syria" group met in Paris.

At the meeting Thursday, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton called for the U.N. Security Council to adopt an arms embargo and other tough measures against Syria. An amateur video posted online by activists showed at least two of the observers, including the team's head, Col. Ahmed Himiche, standing outside a U.N. vehicle Thursday as dozens chanted, "Death is better than humiliation!" and "The people want to topple the regime!"

French top diplomat says world must prepare for failure of Syria peace plan: Juppe says France would support a U.S.-backed proposal for a U.N. arms embargo and other tough measures against Syria. He says this peace plan is “the last chance before civil war. ... We don’t have the right to wait.” Juppe hosted U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton and other diplomats in Paris on Thursday to try to work out options for Syria. The U.N. chief accused Syrian President Bashar Assad of failing to honor a peace plan that went into effect a week ago.

How do you think that will go? Do you think Russia Syria's top arms supplier will allow her supply ships stopped? This has not even started yet I am sorry to say for those people. The US is the enemy the poor syrians are the tool.

Containing Syria's chemical weapons: Little-noticed amid the fighting and attempted cease-fire in Syria are the stockpiles of chemical weapons. The US and others are trying to check their use or theft. Russia also needs to pressure Assad into ensuring they are safely stored.

Unlike Iran’s mere potential to build a nuclear weapon or North Korea’s underground testing of nuclear devices, Syria’s chemical weapons are ready for action – and right in the middle of a uncertain civil war. “The country is a chemical powder keg ready to explode,”

Europe, Russia propose rival resolutions on Syria: European nations and Russia proposed rival U.N. resolutions Friday, both calling for expanding the number of U.N. cease-fire monitors in Syria from 30 to 300 but disagreeing on possible sanctions and on how quickly the larger observer force should get on the ground.

The European draft stresses that it is critically important to create "a sustained cessation of violence" and establish "a conducive environment" for the large mission to deploy. The draft proposed by Russia, Syria's closest ally, would immediately establish the 300-strong force without any conditions.
Russia wants them to be able to slaughter right up to the last second.

You have heard this here before but forget any thoughts of a peace deal working.

Report: Cancer Rates Could Rise 50 Percent by 2020, Autism rates continue to skyrocket

Report: Cancer Rates Could Rise 50 Percent by 2020, Autism rates continue to skyrocket: You don't think that's our fault?

Global rates of cancer could rise 50 percent to 15 million new cases a year by 2020, but one-third can be cured and another third prevented by curbing infections and through lifestyle changes, experts said on Thursday.

Since I became aware of the fact that we are in every regard living a total lie it just amazes me the bull shit excuses and lies we accept as truth just to keep us placated. This is no exception. You have to be kidding me. We are supposed to fall for the BS that one third of the new cases of cancer can be prevented by curbing infections and changing our lifestyle's.

Just what does an infection have to do with getting cancer? Someone please tell me. Sure the level of obesity I see today really worries me and a lifestyle change in the regard of eating right and getting some activity going in many sedimentary lives is critical to preventing numerous ailments but cancer may be one of the but the least of them.

Yes I do agree 100% that we are responsible for most of the increase in curable and incurable diseases but they are due to our all encompassing level and types of pollution. Air pollution, water pollution, ground pollution, acid rain, all are problems due to the normal suspects but it is the role nuclear assets particularly was plays in out environmental and life problems that concerns me most of all and it is never mentioned. Remember this?

CDC: Autism is more common than previously thought: Autism rates continue to skyrocket, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which released new figures today, showing a 23% increase from 2006 to 2008. One in 88 American children are now on the autism spectrum, the CDC said, up from 1 in 110. The figures are even higher for boys, with 1 in 54 8-year-olds now counted on the spectrum. It's not known whether these increases are due to better counting or should be blamed on something in the environment, or, most likely, a mixture of both.

"While we're not completely sure of what is driving the rise in autism cases, it is certainly striking enough to warrant exploring in detail the possibility that environmental exposures contribute to this," said Marc Weisskopf, an epidemiologist and associate professor at the Harvard School of Public Health, who is studying a possible link between air pollution and autism. "There are plenty of other reasons to avoid chemical toxicants, but we can't yet pinpoint whether one of these is a culprit in this rise."
One little word, Man!

Those on the top and in the Government will never admit to the truth as we know. Didn't anyone ever put two and two together before? I have been trying to point it out for years but some like to call it conspiracy theory but it is not. Doesn't it seem odd that at the same time Autism is rapidly climbing we had Fukishima? We are increasingly spreading nuclear fallout throughout the world's food chain and system. We are increasingly using depleted uranium in our war heads.

Global nuclear cover-up: Depleted Uranium, Gulf war Syndrome, Increased Autism, Diabetes, Cancer!

I was watching a program about a scientist who did a fraudulent study on Autism being attributed to flu vaccine and thought I should get the truth out on this once more: Global nuclear cover-up, Depleted uranium, Gulf war Syndrome, increased Autism Diabetes Cancer, they won't admit it but Now you know why! Leuren Moret is a whistle blower from the Livermore Lab. In her presentations she exposes shocking and highly suppressed facts about our Government poisoning is with radiation right at this very moment.

watch the video of Lauren speaking the truth about the nuclear cover up

From nuclear testing we have switched to nuclear power plants that are causing increasingly high rates of cancer, birth defects, and literally an epidemic of diabetes. I have heard it mentioned here before that we have used weapons containing depleted Uranium and didn't really think too much about it because I really wasn't sure.

Remember Chernobyl? That too is affecting all of us as it only takes one year to mix globally. This is all something our Governments do not want us to know. I was really surprised to hear the Queen has a great financial interest in Uranium mines around the world. I was blown away to hear that there were 2 million new cases of Diabetes around the world in one year.

It is not just Britain and the U.S. that do not want the truth known, there is a Global Conspiracy on the issue because other governments are also involved in nuclear programs and they don't want their citizens to know the real reasons why their children are being born with severe anomalies and why the diabetes rates are soaring worldwide. This is just amazing! Watch the video and the cities around the world that are least affected will blow you away. Washington DC is the lowest in the country. What a surprise.

This all amazes me in light of the Manifesto to the World I wrote detailing what is happening and why, and what we will do to the planet someone has to be able to live and be sustained on, and hearing routinely the rattles of war threatening to make things even worse!

Diplomats' wives urge Syrian first lady Asma Assad: 'Stop your husband'

US drones with missiles fly over Syria to monitor regime violence but what can they do?

Diplomats' wives urge Syrian first lady Asma Assad: 'Stop your husband', UN sees need for more Syria observers, aircraft, Shots fired in Syria town during UN observer visit, Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Moallem insisted Wednesday that Syria is keeping its commitments, China Rejects Unilateral Sanctions on Syria.

Diplomats' wives urge Syrian first lady Asma Assad: 'Stop your husband': The wives of two United Nations ambassadors have produced an Internet video appealing to Syria's first lady, Asma Assad, to "stop your husband" Bashar in his bid to thwart a popular uprising that has left thousands dead.
The film, posted on YouTube, contrasts the lavish lifestyle of 36-year-old mother-of-three Asma with images of dead and injured Syrian children and asks viewers to sign a petition demanding the U.K.-born first lady speak out to "stop the bloodshed." "Some women care for style... and some care for their people," it says, in a reference to her frequent shopping trips to Europe. "Stand up for peace, Asma. Speak out now. For the sake of your people. Stop your husband,"

Shots fired in Syria town during UN observer visit: Two vehicles carrying U.N. truce monitors sped away from a large crowd of Syrian anti-regime protesters Wednesday when what sounded like a gunshot rang out in a Damascus suburb they were touring, according to amateur video posted online.

Several thousand anti-regime protesters took to the streets in the Arbeen suburb of Damascus, said Rami Abdul-Rahman, head of the Britain-based activist group Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. Security forces opened fire, wounding eight demonstrators, he said. A handwritten sign taped to one of the U.N. cars, apparently by the protesters, reads: "The butcher keeps killing, the observers keep observing and the people keep up the revolution."

UN sees need for more Syria observers, aircraft: A United Nations mission to oversee an end to violence in Syria may need to bring in its own aircraft and deploy more troops to ensure that a firm ceasefire takes hold throughout the country, U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon said on Tuesday.

A six-day-old truce has held in some parts of Syria since President Bashar al-Assad pledged to enforce it last week. But in strong opposition areas such as Homs, Hama, Idlib and Deraa the army continues to attack and battle rebels, using heavy weapons in violation of the pledge by Damascus to pull back.

Morocco urges Russia to press Syria on ceasefire: Morocco's foreign minister urged Russia on Wednesday to press the Syrian government to adhere to a ceasefire and withdraw forces from cities in accordance with U.N.-Arab League envoy Kofi Annan's peace plan. A six-day-old truce has held in some parts of Syria since President Bashar al-Assad pledged to enforce it last week. But in areas where the opposition is strong the army has continued to attack and fight the rebels, using heavy weapons in violation of the pledge by Damascus to pull back.

Chinese Foreign Minister: China Rejects Unilateral Sanctions on Syria: Ministers al-Moallem and Yang held important talks in the framework of the high-level consultations Syria is intensively conducting with China about the crisis in Syria and China's role at the UN Security Council in supporting Syria's sovereignty and stability. Al-Moallem : China's principled and firm stance in supporting Syria at the international circles restored hope and balance to international policy Following the talks,Foreign Minister al-Moallem expressed Syria's leadership and people's appreciation to China's principled and firm stance in supporting Syria at the international circles, pointing out that this stance has restored hope and balance to the international policy .

Al-Moallem and Yang discussed the developments of the current situation in the Syrian arena, as al-Moallem presented a review about the recent events in Syria and the efforts exerted by the Syrian Government to make the reform program launched by President Bashar al-Assad a success. He pointed out to the escalation of the violence acts perpetrated by the armed terrorist groups including the breaching of their commitments to the plan of the UN Envoy to Syria, Kofi Anna. For his part, the Chinese Foreign Minister expressed China's keenness on the necessity of respecting Syria's sovereignty, security and territorial integrity.
China is still defending Syria's right to slaughter any dissenting people. WTF?

Syria's FM claims government abiding by truce: Syrian forces assaulted an opposition stronghold with a steady rain of mortar shells Wednesday even as the foreign minister promised the regime would respect a week-old cease-fire and withdraw troops from urban centers in line with an international peace initiative.

Despite persistent violence in Homs and other cities, the international community is reluctant to declare the cease-fire dead, in part because it is seen as the only way to end bloodshed triggered by an uprising against President Bashar Assad. Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Moallem insisted Wednesday that Syria is keeping its commitments.
BS!

You have heard this here before but forget any thoughts of a peace deal working.
