Russia says time is running out as Syria splits along sectarian lines as was the goal

Syria splits along sectarian lines: ‎NEAR QUSAYR, Syria — Resting in a safe house south of the shell-battered city of Homs, Syrian rebel Abu Abdo at first framed the conflict convulsing his country as a war between the Sunni Muslim majority and the authoritarian regime of President Bashar Assad. Then the leather-jacketed member of the local Free Syrian Army added, "The majority of the Shiites and Alawites are with the government."

Iranian weapons help Bashar Assad put down Syria protests, officials say: Tehran's technical assistance to Assad's security forces includes electronic surveillance systems, technology designed to disrupt efforts by protesters to communicate via social media, and Iranian-made drone aircraft for overhead surveillance, the officials said. They discussed intelligence matters on condition of anonymity.

"Over the past year, Iran has provided security assistance to Damascus to help shore up Assad. Tehran during the last couple of months has been aiding the Syrian regime with lethal assistance - including rifles, ammunition, and other military equipment -- to help it put down the opposition," a U.S. official said. Some Iranian officials have stayed on in Syria to advise Assad's forces, he added. Iran has for decades been a patron to Syria, which has helped funnel aid and weapons to the Iranian-backed Shiite Muslim militia Hezbollah in Lebanon.

Iranian Advisors Joined By Russian Commandos: In the last few weeks rebellion related deaths have averaged over 500 a week. It appears that nearly 10,000 have died in a year of protests against the government and increasingly violent government responses. The security forces have used artillery and tank gun fire against rebellious neighborhoods, as well as indiscriminate fire against crowds along with snipers (who are supposed to kill "leaders" but in practice shoot whoever they can).

Russia and Iran continue to arm the government despite Iraq recently announcing it would not allow Iran to ship weapons (by ground or air) through Iraq. Weapons shipments can still get in via Syrian ports. One Iranian cargo ship (described as a "supply ship"), escorted by an Iranian frigate recently visited Syria briefly and then returned to Iran. Russian weapons regularly arrive at the Syrian port of Tartus. Syria is a major customer for Russian weapons

Egyptian Military Arming Libyan Rebels: Egypt’s military has begun shipping arms over the border to Libyan rebels with Washington’s knowledge, U.S. and Libyan rebel officials said. The shipments—mostly small arms such as assault rifles and ammunition—appear to be the first confirmed case of an outside government arming the rebel fighters. Those fighters have been losing ground for days in the face of a steady westward advance by forces loyal to Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi.

The Egyptian shipments are the strongest indication to date that some Arab countries are heeding Western calls to take a lead in efforts to intervene on behalf of pro-democracy rebels in their fight against Mr. Gadhafi in Libya. The shipments also follow an unusually robust diplomatic response from Arab states. There have been rare public calls for foreign military intervention in an Arab country, including a vote by the 23-member Arab League last week urging the U.N. to impose a no-fly zone over Libya.
Geezuz that would mean war with at least Iran and Russia aided by at least Hezbollah who is robustly slaughtering protesters already.

Russian President: last chance to avoid long-lasting and bloody civil war in Syria: Their idea of stopping this civil war is for then and their allies to arm and help murder the people and for the rest of the world to stop trying to stop the slaughter! WTF? Russia says they want this to end but continue to send arms and ammunition to Assad saying he vows to stop this terrorism "the once peaceful protesters" and the world must allow him. This is horrible!

I reiterate, It is too late for Russia and China to feign concern. The Syrian people are being sacrificed in this the opening volley not just in the middle east but in the world against US hegemony! That is the only reason Putin got himself back into the Russian Presidency. The sole goal is to finish what was started under him and George Bush when he was gathering forces amongst Russia, China, the 35 non aligned nations and anyone else interested in stopping our efforts to rule the world.

Hezbollah and Iran's IRG armed by Russia have taken the lead in slaughtering the Syrian people to keep them and Bashar Al Assad in control. This is just the opening volley in the war against US hegemony. Sorry to say but those Syrian people are being sacrificed in an opening volley for the war for position to see who holds prominence as we try to move through the 21st century.

Al Qaeda is helping the protesters and the Syrian free army as well as Israel. Israel is also supplying limited weapons. We assumed but I just read that Arabs have been supplying weapons smuggled through Iraq and Turkey and supplied by the United States..

I remember saying a year ago that the Syrian protesters are the bravest in the world as they know they at the least are facing dedicated Syrian and Iranian Revolutionary Guard killers and now we find out we were right on and then some. I know the protesters vowed not to be deterred stating they will break the Government period but there is no way. The Syrian Government will kill and arrest who they have too. Iran will accept nothing less!

I remember the Syrian opposition saying that they would not stop and would ultimately defeat the Government saying Democratic transition would safeguard Syria from violence. As outsiders looking in we know nothing could be further from the truth. People are being imprisoned and murdered and I can not see that stopping until the Democracy movement is crushed. Supposedly this expected situation is begging for us to get involved but we damn well better not. Unless that is going to war with Iran is the goal.

I remember saying from day one that it would take almost the whole military to defect before they would have a chance and now that we know how involved Russia, Iran and Hezbollah are in the slaughtering that is going on around the country that is beginning to look like the beginning of their fight.

You have to be very concerned about what is happening in Syria especially. Russia, China, and Iran are not going to allow Syria to fall to Democracy. What we saw after the voter fraud in Iran was mild compared to what the IRG will do if this movement spreads to Iran. I really wish Bashar would step down but Iran is the elephant in the room any way you look at it. The total middle east breakdown we have written about numerous times is well under way. We can only hope we keep it from erupting into WW3.

In closing: You know Putin just got himself reelected as President, he did this so he could be at the helm of Russia as he like me knows 100% that world war is our future. He plans on marshaling China who is rapidly building a more formidable military and whoever he can to take on US hegemony.Russia watched helplessly as we had our way in Libya. Putin blames what is happening in Syria on our interference and Libya for training the protesters to fight against Bashar Al-Assad.

Putin is going to do everything possible to keep us from helping the Syrian people and I really feel for them. I do not see this going down the way Libya did and Iran and Russia are going to make sure it does not. I am afraid the Syrian people are going to be sacrificed, sacrificed in what is merely an opening salvo in this the wars for future dominance. God help us!
