Syrian officials tell Iran: 'We are facing global war' Yes we are!

Syrian officials tell Iran: 'We are facing global war': "It is completely ridiculous and delusive to believe that there is a possibility of creating a vacuum in the leadership in Syria," Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi said. "We call upon the people of the region to be fully aware and not to move in the wrong direction because there will be severe consequences that will go beyond the borders of the region to the outside world."

Meanwhile, with relentless attacks rocking Aleppo, the head of a prominent Syrian opposition group is pleading for world allies to help arm rebels. "Our friends and allies will bear responsibility for the terrifying massacres that will happen in Aleppo if they don't move soon. This regime is planning for a big massacre in Aleppo," Abdulbaset Sieda, head of the Syrian National Council, told reporters in Abu Dhabi. He urged allies to act outside of the U.N. Security Council, as resolutions there can be vetoed.

The Syrian people are being sacrificed in this the opening volley in the war against US hegemony!
Syria Cease-Fire Unlikely After Cross-Border Attacks: a quick end to the violence looked dim after Syrian forces opened fire across two tense borders the day before. The violence killed a television cameraman in Lebanon and at least two people at a refugee camp in Turkey.

Clashes as Syria deadline arrives: Shelling was reported in Homs early on Tuesday, and there were clashes on the Turkish and Lebanese border overnight. More than 100 people - many of them civilians - were killed on Monday, reports say. Damascus had agreed to the deadline but insisted on written guarantees first that its opponents would give up arms.

Syria is battleground for Russia and US: Under Putin, Moscow's objections to foreign interventions in the Middle East will grow. A Sunni-Shiite standoff in the region will complicate issues. The winds of a second Cold War are blowing across the Middle East, more than two decades after the collapse of the Berlin Wall and the ensuing unraveling of the Soviet Union.

This time Moscow is looking to reassert its role and influence in a Middle East that is polarized along new geopolitical divides, initially created as a result of direct US military intervention in Iraq eight years ago and deepening later following the tumultuous Arab Spring in 2011. The battleground for the new confrontation between Russia and the United States is Syria, which has been embroiled in a popular anti-regime uprising for more than a year. Moscow has adopted a tough line in support of its old and last ally in the Arab world.
Well no shit dick tracy, you're a little slow here and it is much worse than this. Why do you think Putin stole his way back in as President in the first place?

Russia's weapons are being used to slaughter the people and they brag about it. Those are the only weapons Russia will allow. French President Nicolas Sarkozy likened Syrian leader Bashar Assad to a "murderer" while Russia said it was arming his regime enabling him to slaughter his people.

The Syrian people are being sacrificed in this the opening volley not just in the middle east but in the world against US hegemony! That is the only reason Putin got himself back into the Russian Presidency. The sole goal is to finish what was started under him and George Bush when he was gathering forces amongst Russia, China, the 35 non aligned nations and anyone else interested in stopping our efforts to rule the world.

Hezbollah and Iran's IRG armed by Russia have taken the lead in slaughtering the Syrian people to keep them and Bashar Al assad in control. This is just the opening volley in the war against US hegemony. Sorry to say but those Syrian people are being sacrificed in an opening volley for the war for position to see who holds prominence as we try to move through the 21st century.

I remember saying a year ago that the Syrian protesters are the bravest in the world as they know they at the least are facing dedicated Syrian and Iranian Revolutionary Guard killers and now we find out we were right on and then some. I know the protesters vowed not to be deterred stating they will break the Government period but there is no way. The Syrian Government will kill and arrest who they have too. Iran will accept nothing less!

I remember the Syrian opposition saying that they would not stop and would ultimately defeat the Government saying Democratic transition would safeguard Syria from violence. As outsiders looking in we know nothing could be further from the truth. People are being imprisoned and murdered and I can not see that stopping until the Democracy movement is crushed. Supposedly this expected situation is begging for us to get involved but we damn well better not. Unless that is going to war with Iran is the goal.

I remember saying from day one that it would take almost the whole military to defect before they would have a chance and now that we know how involved Russia, Iran and Hezbollah are in the slaughtering that is going on around the country that is beginning to look like the beginning of their fight.

You have to be very concerned about what is happening in Syria especially. Russia, China, and Iran are not going to allow Syria to fall to Democracy. What we saw after the voter fraud in Iran was mild compared to what the IRG will do if this movement spreads to Iran. I really wish Bashar would step down but Iran is the elephant in the room any way you look at it. The total middle east breakdown we have written about numerous times is well under way. We can only hope we keep it from erupting into WW3.

In closing: You know Putin just got himself reelected as President, he did this so he could be at the helm of Russia as he like me knows 100% that world war is our future. He plans on marshaling China who is rapidly building a more formidable military and whoever he can to take on US hegemony.Russia watched helplessly as we had our way in Libya. Putin blames what is happening in Syria on our interference and Libya for training the protesters to fight against Bashar Al-Assad.Russia and Iran will not let this be another Libya but at what expense?

Putin is going to do everything possible to keep us from helping the Syrian people and I really feel for them. I do not see this going down the way Libya did and Iran and Russia are going to make sure it does not. I am afraid the Syrian people are going to be sacrificed, sacrificed in what is merely an opening salvo in this the wars for future dominance. I just heard that Russia is gathering forces to go into Iran via Armenia for a quick strike through Georgia. We have a showdown setting up that looks disastrous for the worlds future.

Russia and Iran 'support Annan unity government plan as long as it is done their way

Russia 'supports Annan unity government plan : Russia and other big powers have agreed to back a proposal by UN envoy Kofi Annan for a national unity government to lead political change in Syria. Western diplomats say the proposed cabinet could include members of the opposition and government, but no-one who would undermine its credibility. While they see President Bashar al-Assad as excluded from the plan, it is not clear if Russia shares that view. The idea will be discussed on Saturday by the UN Action Group on Syria I agree with this plan but up to now Russia has said "Nyet"

Iranian Renewed Support to Annan Plan as the Best Way to Resolve the Issues in Syria: ''If some powers do not want to benefit from this influence and constructive role, that's their problem and this is another indication of actually neglecting the realities on the ground'' said the Ambassador, underscoring that "the solution is the cooperation among everybody.' " From the beginning we have supported Mr. Kofi Annan's plan and we believe that that's the best way to resolve the issues in Syria.

So any kind of consultations by Kofi Annan with the Islamic Republic of Iran is welcomed anytime," Ambassador Khazaee declared. '' By not assisting foreign groups, opposition groups in Syria and by avoiding foreign intervention in Syria we believe that Syrian people will enjoy a better life and have reform smoothly in their country," Khazaee concluded.

Again, they too will not agree to Assad the murderer of his own stepping down. Also they do agree that no outsiders should help the opposition while they, Russia and China to one degree or the other help Syria!

Kofi Annan, the joint special envoy of the United Nations and Arab League for Syria, proposed the Saturday meeting and wants to see Iran as part of the international efforts to put an early end to the Syrian crisis, which broke out in March 2011. However, the United States and European countries had opposed to Iran`s involvement in the world efforts on Syria.

Annan`s idea on Iran`s role was openly backed by Russia, a permanent member of the UN Security Council, and UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon. "If some parties do not want to benefit from Iran`s influence and constructive role, that`s their problem," Khazaee said. "And this is another indication of actually neglecting the realities on the ground."

I agree but the realities on the ground are that Iran is influencing and interfering everywhere they possibly can in order to stop what they think is the US getting the way. It has nothing to do with doing the right thing for Syria as a whole. It has everything to do with keeping the US, the West, and Arabs from having events in Syria go their way and not the way of Iran, Russia, China and the rest of their allies.

This is all about the future direction of the entire middle east. The goal absolutely is to be the country who decides which direction the new Middle East (dis)order will take. Bush started it by attacking Iraq to get into the middle east to destabilize it and start the new middle east order the idiot said God told him to do now it will be up to Iran and Saudi Arabia (Al Qaeda?) at least up front fight it out whether this goes the Iranian Shiite way or the Saudi Arabian Sunni way and do not forget Israel!

You know I firmly believe and have said so a million times by now that since 9/11 everything was construed to allow Bush to gain the power he needed to prosecute his new order not just in the Middle East but on the entire world! He diverted from Afghanistan to get back into the Middle East with the goal of setting up a larger safety zone for Israel and going after Iran. Both will fail! It has long been my contention that coming to Israel's aid once they attack Iran will be our in to Iran but with Iran, the Gulf, Syria, and everything else who knows what will happen first.

Watch out Iran! Watch out US and Israel, Watch out world! We must contain this to the middle east and keep it from turning into WW3. This must be a middle east fight and problem or the entire world is in dire trouble and we have too much already as we try to move successfully through the 21st century. I am afraid we are failing our children in every regard.

Video: Syria's Assad regime fires on unprecedented protests in Aleppo triggering possible British deployment

Video: Syria's Assad regime fires on unprecedented protests in Aleppo

Syrian Attacks Continue as Mass Protests Spread: Syrian government troops pounded the rebel stronghold, Rastan, and parts of the flashpoint city, Homs, Friday, amid widespread anti-government protests across the country. Meanwhile, the head of the United Nations observer forces urged both the government and the opposition to engage in dialogue to end the violence.

Witnesses say Syrian security forces fired tear-gas and live rounds to break up a student protest in Aleppo Friday. The demonstration was billed as the largest of its kind in Syria's northern commercial hub since the uprising against President Bashar al-Assad began in March 2011. The protests come after Syrian security forces disrupted a student demonstration in Aleppo on Thursday. Video taken from a U.N. vehicle in Aleppo Thursday showed security forces beating student protesters.

: A car bomb killed nine people at a Syrian military post in the eastern city of Deir al-Zor on Saturday, an attack the government said was the latest proof that an uprising against President Bashar al-Assad was a foreign plot. The official SANA news agency said the blast had been the work of a suicide bomber, and had also wounded about 100 people, including guards, at what it called military installations.

I don't have to tell him or you that by murdering his own people he did this purposely to have an excuse to have a full bore massacre but this is a dangerous game in dangerous times.

British officers could be deployed to Syria to increase pressure on Assad regime: As unrest continued to spread in Syria, the Prime Minister last night told fellow world leaders that more must to done to stop Bashar al-Assad oppressing his own people. Britain is prepared to contribute officers to an enlarged international monitoring mission in Syria, Mr Cameron told a Group of Eight summit in the US.

There are more than 200 United Nations monitors inside Syria, where more than 9,000 people have died since last year as the regime tries to suppress opposition to Mr Assad’s rule. The monitors are in the country as part of a deal negotiated with Mr Assad by Kofi Annan, the former United Nations secretary-general. The Annan deal is supposed to lead to a ceasefire and talks between the regime and its opponents.

I see a long and bloody war and hopefully not world war. We are going to get dragged into this rest assured and you can't really think at least Russia and Iran will not come out in the open: I remember saying from day one that it would take almost the whole military to defect before they would have a chance and now that we know how involved Russia, Iran and Hezbollah are in the slaughtering that is going on around the country that is beginning to look like the beginning of their fight.

Disaster in Syria

Bashar al-Assad's slaughter has officialy spread to Lebanon as Sunni-Alawite fighting erupts in Lebanese port city, also Syrian violence claims eight lives and UN mission grows, Syrian clashes 'kill 23 soldiers' in city of Rastan, China Dispatches Six Military Observers to Join the UN Observers Mission in Syria, Russia Will Foil Any UNSC Resolution on Military Intervention in Syria, US helps Syrian rebels to get advanced weapons,UN team in Syria stayed with rebels after attack after Roadside Blast Hits UN Convoy; 20 Killed at Syrian Funeral, Confidential report finds Iran shipping arms to Syria: ...

Syrian conflict spreads to Lebanon: Clashes were continuing Sunday in Tripoli, the largest city in northern Lebanon between supporters and opponents of the neighboring Syrian regime. At least three people were killed, said a source within the security services. In Bab el-Tebbaneh, a man died in clashes between residents of this predominantly Sunni neighborhood, opposing the Syrian regime, and in Jabal Mohsen neighborhood a supporter of Alawite regime of Bashar al-Assad was also killed.

Meanwhile, a local resident of the Sunni Kobbe district had been killed Saturday night during clashes that left so ten wounded. In a separate incident, an army officer was killed, according to another source within the security services, by a sniper after a gunfight Saturday night between the army and Islamist demonstrators demanding the release of one of their men detained by the Lebanese authorities.

Sunni-Alawite fighting erupts in Lebanese port city:BEIRUT: Two people were killed when fighting erupted overnight in the Lebanese city of Tripoli between members of the Alawite minority loyal to Syrian President Bashar Assad and members of the Sunni majority, witnesses and security officials said on Sunday.

Rocket-propelled grenades and automatic rifles were used in the fighting in an Alawite enclave and surrounding Sunni neighborhoods in the port city, 70 km (44 miles) north of Beirut. “The clashes peaked at dawn. The sound of gunfire is still echoing in the city,” a Lebanese security official said. The fighting underlines how sectarian tensions in Syria could spill over to neighboring Lebanon.

China Dispatches Six Military Observers to Join the UN Observers Mission in Syria:

Gatilov: Russia Will Foil Any UNSC Resolution on Military Intervention in Syria: In a statement to journalists in Moscow, Gatilov said " We will not allow the passage of any blurry resolution, particularly if related to using force…we generally hope that the military scenario would not be taken; we do prefer reaching a political solution." He added, " I think there is no danger of a serious interference by force for the time being," pointing out that the west has become more self-restraint.

Gatilov stressed that the Security Council is not considering any resolutions concerning Syria and there is no need for that, noting that the international community increasingly tends for the implementation of the plan of UN Envoy to Syria, Kofi Annan. Gatilov added that al-Qaeda and other allies stand behind the attacks which hit Syria in the past few days, considering that the conflict in Syria is being long-termed if compared to the former period.

US helps Syrian rebels to get advanced weapons: Syrian rebels begin to get more weapons, and much advanced, thanks to an effort funded by the Gulf countries and coordinated in part by the U.S., reported the Washington Post on Wednesday. The report is based on information gathered from Syrian activists, sources in the United States and other countries.Publicly, the Obama administration has been maintaining that the United States does not provide or fund the supply of this lethal equipment, including anti-tank weapons.

UN team in Syria stayed with rebels after attack: The U.N. says an observer team that came under fire in northern Syria stayed overnight with rebel forces and United Nations officials hope to evacuate them within hours. A roadside bomb struck the team's vehicle during a mission in the northern town of Khan Sheikhoun, but none of the observers was wounded. Rebel forces then apparently gave the observers shelter.

Diplomat: Confidential report finds Iran shipping arms to Syria: A confidential U.N. report reveals Iran is exporting arms to the Syrian government in violation of a ban on weapons sales, the same day President Bashar al-Assad blamed the violence in his country on the work of foreign-backed fighters.
The draft report describes three seizures of Iranian weapons shipments, including two bound for Syria, within the last year, a Western diplomat told CNN on Wednesday on condition of anonymity. The official was not authorized to release details to the media.

We now have UN observers up to 300, so called Russian and Chinese, enough to gum up the works amnd confuse the issue so Syria can continue the slaughter. "This observers thing is a big joke," slaughter in their midst, "Shelling stops and tanks are hidden when they visit somewhere, and when they leave, shelling resumes." Douma-based activist Mohammed Saeed said two people were killed by indiscriminate firing in the sprawling district, the scene of intense clashes between rebels and security forces before a cease-fire went into effect more than a week ago.

Good question, why are more worthless monitors needed? Russia, China, the UN, they are all going to see the same things 3 different ways. There is no way the Chinese and the Russians are not going to aid Syria at least by turning the other cheek. UN, Russia, and China have competing horses in this race.

Russia said they would send observers almost 2 weeks ago And I have not heard a word from them. Their job must be to observe the slaughter and make sure no one gets in Assad's way. China's job must be to say they saw things a different way so none of the awful truth will get out. They will get away with saying it is all being perpetrated by terrorists and a grey area is once again created to hide the truth by someone who supposedly wants to do the right thing. Yeah the right thing for their agenda and that of Assad their ally. This is not a good development. What is going to happen once the observers start getting killed?

Assad calls the protesters and peace workers terrorists and promises to stamp them out. what does he call all the mercenaries helping him along with those sending him arms and ammunition? This has barely begun!

You have to be very concerned about what is happening in Syria especially. Russia, China, and Iran are not going to allow Syria to fall to Democracy. Elections in Syria as blood flows and Turkey's Erdogan says victory near for Syrian rebels

Elections in Syria amid violence: In Hama, Idleb, Deraa and even in neighborhoods in Damascus, a strike was declared, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (OSHR).According to Abu Ghazi, an activist in Hama, all markets and shops are closed in protest against the election of "the parliament of Bashar's pupets."Also during the election day, the blood still flowed - three young men were killed in an ambush by security forces in the region of Deir Ezzor (east of the country), according to OSHR.

Syria cease-fire gives nonviolent activists a new beginning: More than a year after the uprising began, only 50 people were still around to protest in a Syrian town of burned buildings and pockmarked storefronts. But for the residents of Anadan who came together to call for freedom and dignity on the morning Syria'scease-fire began last month, it was as though the revolution had begun again.

"We were willing to come out like it was our first day," said Abu Ghaith, an activist in the town near Aleppo that rebels seized and lost again to government forces. "Our strength is in being peaceful." For months, activists who helped spark the uprising against the regime of President Bashar Assad by nonviolent means had seen it slip away as others in the opposition took up arms and the conflict began to resemble a civil war. Now the United Nations-backed cease-fire, which has seen numerous violations but also an easing of the bloodshed, is providing an apt anti-violence backdrop to activists' efforts to retake the revolution.

Heavy fighting rocks Syria: AMMAN: Fighting between rebels and President Bashar Assad’s forces erupted in an oil producing province in eastern Syria, residents and activists said yesterday, the eve of a parliamentary election the authorities say shows reforms are under way. Rebels armed with rocket-propelled grenades attacked tank positions in the east of the provincial capital Deir Al-Zor, in response to an army offensive against towns and villages in the tribal area bordering Iraq that has killed tens of people and stopped others reaching supplies and medical care, they said.

“We do not have a death toll because no one is daring to go into the streets,” said Ghaith Abdelsalam, an opposition activist who lives near Ghassan Abboud roundabout that has become a flashpoint for the fighting in the city. “The population has been trapped and anger has been building up,” he said, adding the fighting subsided early in the morning after erupting overnight.

Turkey's Erdogan says victory near for Syrian rebels: Erdogan, who has tried to rally international support against the government in neighboring Syria for its 14-month crackdown against opponents, was met with enthusiastic applause and shouts of "Long live Erodgan" at the Kilis refugee camp. "Bashar is losing blood every day," Erdogan told the crowd of about 1,500 people less than a kilometer from the border.

"Your victory is not far. We have just one issue: to stop the bloodshed and tears and for the Syrian people's demands to be met," he said. Erdogan addressed the crowd from the top of a bus while military snipers watched from rooftops. Hundreds of police and soldiers stood guard along the road from the airport to the camp.

He is a lot more optimistic than I am.

Russia Condemns Terrorist Acts Committed Recently in Syria while condoning Assad's war crimes:

Russia and China on the right

Syria cease fire has to be a setup for failure so Syria can pursue open war against rebels: Russia Condemns Terrorist Acts Committed Recently in Syria while condoning Syria's war crimes, Syrian Army suffers deadliest day as Syrian rebels killed 15 members of the security forces including 2 Colonels in an ambush, the latest in a series of heavy losses inflicted on pro-Assad forces in the last week by some of the disparate militias fighting for his downfall, Pro-Assad gun, knife attack kills four Students as Syrian Forces Raid University

UN Observers on Mission-to-Fail in Syria Lag on Staffing: The UN is making repeated calls to member states seeking personnel as it tries to deploy the full force by the end of May, said Herve Ladsous, Under-Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations. The 24 monitors now deployed are tailed by Syrian police as they try to assess the cease-fire, which Ladsous said both sides are breaking.

“The point of the mission is not for what the observers will see or do, but instead for what it will allow you to do in the coming months,” said Jon Alterman, director of the Middle East program at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, a policy group in Washington. Planning For Failure: If the deployment fails, Russia and China will have some responsibility to accept stronger measures -- including tighter sanctions and an arms embargo -- sought by the U.S., U.K., France and Arab nations, said a Security Council diplomat.

UN Official: Syrian Troops have kept Heavy Weapons in Cities: U.N. observers go on their mission in Syria to chronicle what is happening in the beleaguered nation, though even the team's leader admitted its efforts are futile unless all factions commit to full candor and peace. Press reports also indicated that Syria`s regime has kept up its attacks on opposition strongholds, while rebel fighters have continued to ambush government security forces.

Defying a major truce provision, the Syrian military has failed to withdraw tanks and soldiers from city streets, according to the press reports. Despite the violence, the truce still enjoys the support of the international community, largely because it views the plan as the last chance to prevent the country from falling into civil war -- and because it does not want to intervene militarily

HRW: Syria committed war crimes pre-truce: "In nine separate incidents documented by HRW, government forces executed 35 civilians in their custody. The majority of executions took place during the attack on Taftanaz, a town of about 15,000 inhabitants northeast of Idlib city on April 3 and 4," the group said in a report.

HRW researchers observed bullet marks on the wall that formed a row 50 to 60 cm (20 to 24 inches) above the floor, it added, roughly the height of a kneeling person. "While diplomats argued over details of Annan's peace plan, Syrian tanks and helicopters attacked one town in Idlib after another,"

Syrian rebels killed 15 members of the security forces in an ambush on Wednesday, a monitoring group said, as a human rights organization accused Damascus of war crimes in last month's run-up to a U.N.-brokered truce. State media carried no news of the attack, the latest in a series of heavy losses inflicted on pro-Assad forces in the last week by some of the disparate militias fighting for his downfall.

Twelve soldiers died in a firefight in the eastern town of Deir al-Zor on Tuesday, the Observatory said, and nine more, including security officials, died in twin suicide bombs in the restive town of Idlib on Monday, according to state media.

Russia Condemns Terrorist Acts Committed Recently in Syria: Russia on Wednesday strongly condemned the wave of terrorist acts launched in Syria recently, stressing that these acts are meant to foil the plan of the UN Envoy to Syria, Kofi Annan.

Russia Today's website quoted the Russian Foreign Ministry as reminding of the terrorist acts committed on April 27th, which were followed three days later by two booby-trapped car blasts in Idleb that targeted state establishments. "Moscow strongly condemns the terrorists' acts and draws attention that they are in fact launching a big campaign with the aim of undermining stability of the situation and foiling Annan's plan," said the Ministry.

Syria: Kofi Annan alarmed at surges in violence - live updates: France raises prospect of military action in Syria

70 civilians of all ages killed, by a scud missile?

Syria: Kofi Annan alarmed at surges in violence - live updates: Russia and China have have called for a speedier deployment of more UN monitors, according to the diplomatic blog Inner City Press. It quotes China's ambassador to the UN Li Baodong as saying: "I think we should deploy observers as soon as possible. Kofi needs that, the people in Syria need that. Let people go to Syria to monitor the situation."

France raises prospect of military action in Syria: French Foreign Minister Alain Juppe said France had discussed invoking Chapter 7 of the U.N. Charter, which can be enforced militarily, with other world powers. U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said last week the United Nations should move toward such a step to allow for measures like travel and financial sanctions and an arms embargo. She didn't mention military action. The U.S. has for more than a year opposed the further militarization of the situation.

Any such move, however, would likely be blocked by Russia and China, which have twice used their vetoes as permanent Council members to protect Syria from condemnation and remain opposed to military intervention. Western powers, too, don't appear interested in sending forces to another Middle East nation in turmoil.

The Syrian government is "in contravention" of an internationally agreed peace plan, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has warned. Mr Ban "remains deeply troubled" by the continued presence of heavy weapons and troops in Syria's cities as reported by UN monitors, his spokesman said. Mr Ban demanded that Damascus comply with the peace plan without delay. The comments come as up to 70 people were killed in an attack on a house in Hama, according to Syrian activists.

They said several houses in the Masha at-Tayyar district in southern Hama were destroyed by a big explosion. Following the blast in Hama, activists posted video on the internet showing a scene of devastation, with bodies being pulled from the rubble. One report said 13 children and 15 women were among the dead. They said the blast was caused by government shelling or even a Scud missile attack.

Assad is not going to leave. Assad calls the protesters and peace workers terrorists and promises to stamp them out. This has barely begun!

He plans on marshaling China who is rapidly building a more formidable military and whoever he can to take on US hegemony. Russia watched helplessly as we had our way in Libya. Putin blames what is happening in Syria on our interference and Libya for training the protesters to fight against Bashar Al-Assad. Russia and Iran will not let this be another Libya but?

Putin is going to do everything possible to keep us from helping the Syrian people and I really feel for them. I do not see this going down the way Libya did and Iran and Russia are going to make sure it does not. I am afraid the Syrian people are going to be sacrificed, sacrificed in what is merely an opening salvo in this the wars for future dominance. God help us!

Bashar al-assad must leave Syria Dead or alive now or the carnage will continue!

Syrian rebels target security officials in capital: Rebels seeking to topple Syrian President Bashar Assad killed three regime officers in separate attacks Tuesday around Damascus, activists and state media said, the latest violence targeting the security forces used by the government to quash dissent.
A bomb hidden in an army truck also exploded in the capital, wounding several people. The persistent bloodshed has tarnished efforts by a U.N. team of observers to bolster a truce that the international community sees as the last-chance to prevent the country from falling into civil war.

Syrian Intelligence Officer Killed in Damascus Attack: Dead or alive; Meanwhile, Tunisian President Moncef al-Marzouki said his embattled Syrian counterpart is "finished" and will eventually leave power "dead or alive."

Marzouki told the pan-Arab Al-Hayat newspaper Tuesday that Assad's international allies, "the Russians, Chinese and Iranians, must understand this man is finished and...persuade him to leave power." Addressing the Syrian leader directly, he said "it is better for you and your family to leave alive, because if you decide to leave dead, that means that you have caused the deaths of tens of thousands of innocents."

Reports of carnage and widespread violence in Syria continue to grow despite the U.N. Security Council's agreement to boost the number of monitors in the country.A huge explosion rocked central Damascus on Tuesday, according to the opposition Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. The group had no immediate information on possible casualties.

On the opposition side, at least 11 people were killed in Syria Tuesday, including two who died as a result of torture, according to the opposition Local Coordination Committees of Syria. Two of the dead are women, the LCC said.

Russia Sending Observers To Syria China to Send Observers to Syria, UN authorizes 300 Syria cease-fire observers, what do we have here ?

This UN observer thing is a big joke said activist Mohammed Saeed

Syria Troops Accused of Douma Attack: "This U.N. observers thing is a big joke," Mr. Saeed said. "Shelling stops and tanks are hidden when they visit somewhere, and when they leave, shelling resumes." Douma-based activist Mohammed Saeed said two people were killed by indiscriminate firing in the sprawling district, the scene of intense clashes between rebels and security forces before a cease-fire went into effect more than a week ago.

Chinese Foreign Ministry: China to Send Observers to Syria: China announced it will send persons to join the UN observer mission in Syria and is discussing the details with the UN Secretariat. Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesman Liu Weimin said in a press conference on Friday "China backs efforts to achieve a lasting ceasefire and start a political dialogue between all parties in Syria.'' He added that China will push ahead with its constructive role to reach an appropriate solution to the Syrian crisis.

UN authorizes 300 Syria cease-fire observers: The U.N. Security Council has unanimously approved a resolution expanding the number of U.N. observers in Syria from 30 to 300 and demanding an immediate halt to the violence that has been escalating since a cease-fire took effect over a week ago. The resolution approved Saturday gives Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon authority to decide when to deploy the additional observers, based on developments on the grounds including "the consolidation of the cease-fire."
Ban accused Syrian President Bashar Assad Thursday of failing to honor the cease-fire, expressing dismay at the upsurge in violence. The resolution merges rival Russian and European texts and dropped a European threat of non-military sanctions if Syria fails to withdraw troops and heavy weapons from towns and cities.

Russia has agreed to dispatch its monitors, currently deployed in the Golan Heights, to Syria. This came in an announcement by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. “Russia, among others, has been invited by the UN Secretariat to dispatch its observers with the Golan Heights contingent to oversee the Syrian ceasefire. We have given our consent,” Lavrov said at the briefing following his meeting with his Syrian counterpart in Moscow today.

Sergei Lavrov expressed his hope that all other UN states would be just as swift in their answer. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has said that, instead of pinning the blame on Russia and China, the US and others should try and find their “levers” to push for the Syrian authorities and the opposition to stop firing at each other. “We believe that the ceasefire must coincide with the international monitor mission’s arrival in Syria,” he stressed.

Syrian Protesters Mock Cease-Fire and U.N. Observers ...: Demonstrations erupted across Syria on Friday, with some of the protesters’ anger focused on United Nations observers, who have decided that they will not circulate on Fridays, the normal day for mass rallies that are suppressed by the government.

The Moroccan officer heading the advance team of United Nations observers in Syria, was quoted as telling reporters in Damascus that they would avoid Friday patrols, a statement that confirmed suspicions of many who have experienced the brunt of government oppression that the mission would be toothless.

“We don’t want to be used as a tool for escalating the situation,” he said. Those remarks were met with some disbelief, particularly in Damascus, where antigovernment protesters said they faced arrest, bullets, tear gas and a wide deployment of government security forces trying to suppress their demonstrations — all violations of the supposed cease-fire plan. One point of the six-point peace plan negotiated under United Nations auspices is that Syrians be allowed to demonstrate freely. “I have no hope in the monitors; if they don’t tour on Fridays, why did they come to Syria?”

This has barely begun!

French top diplomat says world must prepare for failure of Syria peace plan,

Syrian troops shell central city of Homs as French top diplomat says world must prepare for failure of Syria peace plan, Containing Syria's chemical weapons very dicey, these chemical weapons are ready for action, Europe, Russia propose rival resolutions on Syria

Syrian troops shell central city of Homs: Syrian troops shelled a rebel-held neighborhood and sent reinforcements to border areas as the opposition called for fresh protests Friday after the United Nations accused Syrian President Bashar Assad of failing to honor a peace plan that went into effect a week ago.
The latest violence came hours after Western and Arab diplomats from the "Friends of Syria" group met in Paris.

At the meeting Thursday, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton called for the U.N. Security Council to adopt an arms embargo and other tough measures against Syria. An amateur video posted online by activists showed at least two of the observers, including the team's head, Col. Ahmed Himiche, standing outside a U.N. vehicle Thursday as dozens chanted, "Death is better than humiliation!" and "The people want to topple the regime!"

French top diplomat says world must prepare for failure of Syria peace plan: Juppe says France would support a U.S.-backed proposal for a U.N. arms embargo and other tough measures against Syria. He says this peace plan is “the last chance before civil war. ... We don’t have the right to wait.” Juppe hosted U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton and other diplomats in Paris on Thursday to try to work out options for Syria. The U.N. chief accused Syrian President Bashar Assad of failing to honor a peace plan that went into effect a week ago.

How do you think that will go? Do you think Russia Syria's top arms supplier will allow her supply ships stopped? This has not even started yet I am sorry to say for those people. The US is the enemy the poor syrians are the tool.

Containing Syria's chemical weapons: Little-noticed amid the fighting and attempted cease-fire in Syria are the stockpiles of chemical weapons. The US and others are trying to check their use or theft. Russia also needs to pressure Assad into ensuring they are safely stored.

Unlike Iran’s mere potential to build a nuclear weapon or North Korea’s underground testing of nuclear devices, Syria’s chemical weapons are ready for action – and right in the middle of a uncertain civil war. “The country is a chemical powder keg ready to explode,”

Europe, Russia propose rival resolutions on Syria: European nations and Russia proposed rival U.N. resolutions Friday, both calling for expanding the number of U.N. cease-fire monitors in Syria from 30 to 300 but disagreeing on possible sanctions and on how quickly the larger observer force should get on the ground.

The European draft stresses that it is critically important to create "a sustained cessation of violence" and establish "a conducive environment" for the large mission to deploy. The draft proposed by Russia, Syria's closest ally, would immediately establish the 300-strong force without any conditions.
Russia wants them to be able to slaughter right up to the last second.

You have heard this here before but forget any thoughts of a peace deal working. Assad calls the protesters and peace workers terrorists and promises to stamp them out. This has barely begun!

Diplomats' wives urge Syrian first lady Asma Assad: 'Stop your husband'

US drones with missiles fly over Syria to monitor regime violence but what can they do?

Diplomats' wives urge Syrian first lady Asma Assad: 'Stop your husband', UN sees need for more Syria observers, aircraft, Shots fired in Syria town during UN observer visit, Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Moallem insisted Wednesday that Syria is keeping its commitments, China Rejects Unilateral Sanctions on Syria.

Diplomats' wives urge Syrian first lady Asma Assad: 'Stop your husband': The wives of two United Nations ambassadors have produced an Internet video appealing to Syria's first lady, Asma Assad, to "stop your husband" Bashar in his bid to thwart a popular uprising that has left thousands dead.
The film, posted on YouTube, contrasts the lavish lifestyle of 36-year-old mother-of-three Asma with images of dead and injured Syrian children and asks viewers to sign a petition demanding the U.K.-born first lady speak out to "stop the bloodshed." "Some women care for style... and some care for their people," it says, in a reference to her frequent shopping trips to Europe. "Stand up for peace, Asma. Speak out now. For the sake of your people. Stop your husband,"

Shots fired in Syria town during UN observer visit: Two vehicles carrying U.N. truce monitors sped away from a large crowd of Syrian anti-regime protesters Wednesday when what sounded like a gunshot rang out in a Damascus suburb they were touring, according to amateur video posted online.

Several thousand anti-regime protesters took to the streets in the Arbeen suburb of Damascus, said Rami Abdul-Rahman, head of the Britain-based activist group Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. Security forces opened fire, wounding eight demonstrators, he said. A handwritten sign taped to one of the U.N. cars, apparently by the protesters, reads: "The butcher keeps killing, the observers keep observing and the people keep up the revolution."

UN sees need for more Syria observers, aircraft: A United Nations mission to oversee an end to violence in Syria may need to bring in its own aircraft and deploy more troops to ensure that a firm ceasefire takes hold throughout the country, U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon said on Tuesday.

A six-day-old truce has held in some parts of Syria since President Bashar al-Assad pledged to enforce it last week. But in strong opposition areas such as Homs, Hama, Idlib and Deraa the army continues to attack and battle rebels, using heavy weapons in violation of the pledge by Damascus to pull back.

Morocco urges Russia to press Syria on ceasefire: Morocco's foreign minister urged Russia on Wednesday to press the Syrian government to adhere to a ceasefire and withdraw forces from cities in accordance with U.N.-Arab League envoy Kofi Annan's peace plan. A six-day-old truce has held in some parts of Syria since President Bashar al-Assad pledged to enforce it last week. But in areas where the opposition is strong the army has continued to attack and fight the rebels, using heavy weapons in violation of the pledge by Damascus to pull back.

Chinese Foreign Minister: China Rejects Unilateral Sanctions on Syria: Ministers al-Moallem and Yang held important talks in the framework of the high-level consultations Syria is intensively conducting with China about the crisis in Syria and China's role at the UN Security Council in supporting Syria's sovereignty and stability. Al-Moallem : China's principled and firm stance in supporting Syria at the international circles restored hope and balance to international policy Following the talks,Foreign Minister al-Moallem expressed Syria's leadership and people's appreciation to China's principled and firm stance in supporting Syria at the international circles, pointing out that this stance has restored hope and balance to the international policy .

Al-Moallem and Yang discussed the developments of the current situation in the Syrian arena, as al-Moallem presented a review about the recent events in Syria and the efforts exerted by the Syrian Government to make the reform program launched by President Bashar al-Assad a success. He pointed out to the escalation of the violence acts perpetrated by the armed terrorist groups including the breaching of their commitments to the plan of the UN Envoy to Syria, Kofi Anna. For his part, the Chinese Foreign Minister expressed China's keenness on the necessity of respecting Syria's sovereignty, security and territorial integrity.
China is still defending Syria's right to slaughter any dissenting people. WTF?

Syria's FM claims government abiding by truce: Syrian forces assaulted an opposition stronghold with a steady rain of mortar shells Wednesday even as the foreign minister promised the regime would respect a week-old cease-fire and withdraw troops from urban centers in line with an international peace initiative.

Despite persistent violence in Homs and other cities, the international community is reluctant to declare the cease-fire dead, in part because it is seen as the only way to end bloodshed triggered by an uprising against President Bashar Assad. Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Moallem insisted Wednesday that Syria is keeping its commitments.
BS!

You have heard this here before but forget any thoughts of a peace deal working. Assad calls the protesters and peace workers terrorists and promises to stamp them out. This has barely begun!

Syrian cease fire, that's laughable

Syrian cease fire is another word for mass slaughter

Shelling in Syria as UN Monitors Arrive, attacks widen, and the cease fire unravels, Syrian cease-fire on verge of shattering. This is the opning round of the worlds battle to forge the future.

Shelling in Syria as UN Monitors Arrive: An advance team of U.N. observers on Monday was working with Syrian officials on the ground rules for monitoring the country's 5-day old cease-fire, which appeared to be rapidly unraveling Monday as regime forces pounded the opposition stronghold of Homs with artillery shells and mortars, activists said.

U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon expressed serious concern over the Syrian government's continued shelling of Homs and said "the whole world is watching with skeptical eyes" whether the cease-fire can be sustained. Also Monday, a Hamas official said a senior member of the Palestinian group, Mustafa Lidawi, was abducted over the weekend near Damascus. In the past, Mr. Lidawi had served as the Hamas representative in Iran and Lebanon.

Syrian Forces Widen Attacks as Cease-Fire Unravels: The activist group said troops loyal to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad also continued to shell the Khaldiyeh neighborhood in the central city of Homs, a center of the anti-government revolt. Homs has been under continuous attack, with only a short break on the first day of the cease-fire. The casualties could not be independently verified.

In Damascus, the head of an advance team of six unarmed United Nations observers said it would take time for monitors to reach the hardest hit areas. Col. Ahmed Himmiche said Tuesday the group's mission "is a difficult process [that] requires coordination and planning...we should move step by step."

: BEIRUT -- Six days into the Syrian cease-fire and the term does not seem to fit, according to anti-government activists.Shelling continued in the battered city of Homs and a government offensive in the northwest province of Idlib intensified, activists said, with almost 50 people killed, most of them in Idlib.

One media activist, Khalid Mahmoud Qbiesho in Idlib, was reported killed when a tank rolled over his head, according to the Local Coordination Committees, an anti-government group. Others were killed execution-style after intense shelling, activists said. United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon termed Tuesday's violence as "sporadic," but suggested a planned U.N. observer mission of 250 people may not be big enough "considering the current situation and considering the vastness of the country."

Forget any thoughts of a peace deal working. Assad calls the protesters and peace workers terrorists and promises to stamp them out. This has barely begun!

We are going to get dragged into this rest assured and you can't really think at least Russia and Iran will not come out in the open: I remember saying from day one that it would take almost the whole military to defect before they would have a chance and now that we know how involved Russia, Iran and Hezbollah are in the slaughtering that is going on around the country that is beginning to look like the beginning of their fight.

inching towards war in Syria: Russia Orders Syria To Obey Peace Plan as UN to send monitors to Syria on Sunday as fighting rages

Russia Orders Syria To Obey Peace Plan : Russia has reportedly called on all sides in Syria to "strictly" obey UN envoy Kofi Annan's peace plan, after forces loyal to the government shelled the city of Homs. The reports of violence come two days after a ceasefire began and ahead of a United Nations Security Council vote later on a Western-Arab draft resolution authorizing a team to monitor the fragile ceasefire.
The draft calls on the regime to allow access for up to 30 unarmed military observers. It is unclear how many additional monitors will be sent in the coming weeks, but diplomatic sources suggest as many as 500. The Russian foreign ministry said: "The resolution on the deployment into Syria of a UN monitoring mission advance group has been practically agreed for adoption at the UN Security Council."

UN to send monitors to Syria on Sunday as fighting rages: * "Look, world, what they are doing," video maker screams By Oliver Holmes and Balaji Rakonda, BEIRUT, April 15 (Reuters) - The United Nations will send an advance team of observers to Syria on Sunday to start monitoring a shaky ceasefire, even as a surge in violence on the ground threatened to derail international efforts to end more than a year of bloodshed.
Russia and China joined the rest of the Security Council to authorize the deployment of up to 30 unarmed observers in the first resolution on Syria the 15-nation council managed to approve unanimously since the uprising erupted in March 2011. A spokesman for international mediator Kofi Annan said on Saturday an advance team of six monitors would arrive in Syria within 24 hours and deploy within 36 hours, with more to follow within days.

Tanks are chasing people down in Homs and firing indiscriminately. Under fire themselves crews were filming the atrocities by the Government. Meanwhile the Government was blaming it all on terrorists. The videographer was screaming "look world we are in a state of war" I will guarantee you that when the monitors are on the ground anything they see will be blamed on a reaction to terrorists and when the UN monitors are killed and they will be it too will be blamed on terrorists.

Inching towards war in Syria: The legal basis is the hang-up now, since Russia and China could veto a Security Council resolution authorizing action. But they may not protect Assad forever, and NATO just might find a pretext to move even without the U.N.'s endorsement.

I reiterate: We are going to get dragged into this rest assured and you can't really think at least Russia and Iran will not come out in the open: I remember saying from day one that it would take almost the whole military to defect before they would have a chance and now that we know how involved Russia, Iran and Hezbollah are in the slaughtering that is going on around the country that is beginning to look like the beginning of their fight.

UN team ready for Syria deployment as Protests turn deadly and UN delays vote on observers

With over 10,000 dead  and tanks and snipers hidden in cities protesters will never give up

UN team ready for Syria deployment: A United Nations team of 30 unarmed military observers is ready to deploy to Syria to begin a monitoring mission as soon as the Security Council approves its mission, which may be as soon as Friday, a spokesman for special envoy Kofi Annan has said.
The team is "standing by" to begin overseeing a tenuous but apparently stable ceasefire, said Ahmad Fawzi, a spokesman for the joint UN-Arab League envoy.Protests in the wake of that ceasefire have broken out across the country, and government forces have responded by firing into the air, reportedly killing several protesters, activists claimed.

SYRIA: Protests turn deadly as UN delays vote on observers: Thousands of Syrians marched on Friday to test the regime's commitment to a UN-backed peace plan, and the fragile two-day old ceasefire was again shaken when security forces killed eight civilians.

The hard-won truce to end a 13-month crackdown on dissent that has cost an estimated more than 10,000 lives appeared to be holding, but French President Nicolas Sarkozy said he did not expect it to last. He questioned President Bashar al-Assad's sincerity and appealed for observers to monitor his compliance.

Activists said on Saturday that two neighborhoods in the Syrian city of Homs were shelled overnight, as the United Nations struggled to iron out the details about the rapid deployment of international observers. There were scattered reports of deaths and arrests linked to the demonstrations, which had been dubbed “A Revolution for All Syrians” by local organizers nationwide.

Participants admitted to feeling somewhat tentative, sticking to back streets to avoid the security forces, snipers and tanks that were used to suppress the peaceful protest movement and that remained deployed around many central squares and major crossroads. But the marches were big and exuberant enough to remind demonstrators of the mass rallies that started in March 2011 to demand the ouster of President Bashar al-Assad.

Putin blames what is happening in Syria on our interference and Libya for training the protesters to fight against Bashar Al-Assad.Russia and Iran will not let this be another Libya but?

Putin is going to do everything possible to keep us from helping the Syrian people and I really feel for them. I do not see this going down the way Libya did and Iran and Russia are going to make sure it does not. I am afraid the Syrian people are going to be sacrificed, sacrificed in what is merely an opening salvo in this the wars for future dominance. God help us!
