 Pakistan reiterates NWA offensive will hit Haqqani network:  Minister for States and Frontier Regions (Safron) Abdul Qadir Baloch, speaking at the same briefing, said the government was clear that no one would be allowed to use Pakistan as a base for attacks. “Anybody who has been involved in terrorist activities, whether he is Haqqani or not Haqqani, is very much included,” he said.

 The Pakistani military also demanded Afghanistan help the offensive by stepping up efforts to eliminate the leader of the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), Mullah Fazlullah, believed to be in hiding across the border. Bajwa urged Afghanistan to do more to track down hardline cleric Fazlullah, who took over the TTP leadership last year after previous chief Hakimullah Mehsud was killed by a US drone.

  Afghan, foreign forces kill 60 militants near Pakistan border - officials: Afghan troops backed by Western air power have n killed at least 60 militants near the Pakistan border, Afghan    security officials said on Wednesday, in one of the single biggest assaults against the Taliban-linked Haqqani network.U.S. officials say Washington has intensified its drive against the network in an attempt to deal a lasting blow to the militants before foreign combat forces depart at the end of the year.

The National Directorate of Security, Afghanistan's main intelligence agency, said in a statement that about 300 Haqqani insurgents and foreign fighters came under intensive fire on Monday when they tried to storm Afghan bases in Ziruk district of Paktika province.

  Senior Haqqani leader shot dead in Islamabad: The commander, Ahsanullah Ahsan, and the intelligence official say that Nasiruddin Haqqani was killed Sunday night on the outskirts of Pakistan's capital in area called Bhara Kahu.
The Afghan Haqqani network was founded by Jalaluddin Haqqani and is one of the most feared militant groups fighting U.S. troops in Afghanistan. Nasiruddin Haqqani is Jalaluddin Haqqani's son. His brother, Sirajuddin Haqqani, currently leads the group.

Intelligence officials say Sangeen Zadran was among six militants killed when two missiles fired at a house in North Waziristan, near Afghanistan.Mr Zadran had been blacklisted as a terrorist by both the US and UN.

The US has blamed the Haqqani network for a series of high-profile attacks in the border regions in recent years. There has been no official confirmation of the death toll. However, a spokesman for the Afghan Taliban has reportedly denied that Sangeen Zadran was killed in the strike.Zadran also served as the Taliban's shadow governor of Afghanistan's Paktika province.   Recently:

 *U.S. Drone Strike in Pakistan Kills at Least 16: The strike was the deadliest since Pakistan’s new prime minister, Nawaz Sharif, took power a month ago and demanded an end to the drone attacks. A local government official said the house was being used by the militants for the past few months. 

“At least four missiles were fired from two drones at a house of local tribesmen in Sarai Darpa Khel village at 11 p.m. last night,” said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity. A local militant source said that the militants who were killed were from the Haqqani network, a militant group that is responsible for orchestrating and executing attacks.
  
*Pakistan controls Taliban' - Afghan army chief Like the army chief, I firmly believe that if Pakistan gives the word the Afghan war would be over.

Jalaluddin Haqqani legendary leader who fought the Soviets and his son, Sirajuddin hate the fact that infidel's are on their land and of course have openly vowed to attack and kill as many as possible until we leave. They have been the ones behind all the attacks on bases ans government buildings and have admitted it. 

It is only common sense that they are behind the continuing  spate of attacks on NATO trainers by so called rogue Afghani's. We have essentially brought all segments against us leaving peacefully and forming a Government to their knees with the exception of the Haqqani's who have lost many fighters and top commanders including recently Badruddin another son of Jalaluddin.

Remember: Top Haqqani commander killed in US drone strikes in Pakistan: Badruddin Haqqani, the key operational commander of the al-Qaida linked Haqqani network, and top Pakistani Taliban commander Mullah Dadullah are believed to have been killed in US drone and air strikes in the tribal region of Pakistan and Afghanistan. Badruddin, the son of Afghan warlord Jalaluddin Haqqani, is ranked as a deputy to his elder brother and the network's chief Sirajuddin and was believed to be killed in one of the five volleys of drone strikes in Pakistan's Taliban-controlled tribal agency of North Waziristan since  last August 18. 

This is not enough though. In order to stop the Haqqani network we are going to have to take out the top. We know some in the ISI, military, and Government have been complicit with them since the Soviets wee in Afghanistan so they know where they are. I hope now we have taken out the top.

Haqqani 101: With the death of Osama Bin Laden we were asked what his death would mean for the war in Afghanistan. Like the so called war on terror which includes the Taliban, Al Qaeda of every creed, and extremists of every ilk looking to carry on Osama's vendetta against the west, it will serve to fuel their cause like many other issues. His death should mean just the opposite and it does to all true Muslims.

In searching though I found them to be known rapists and murderers and of course not true Muslims or faithful followers of Muhammad and true Islam. Some of the Haqqani's and commanders have even been captured and held after traveling to Saudi Arabia for the haj and gathering donations for their cause.

The Haqqani's and their legendary stature are holding the so called terrorists force together. Their stature is legendary and hard earned. The Haqqani network and their increasingly foreign fighters have become the main focus after 9 years of fighting. The Haqqani Network's North Waziristan leadership -- usually called the Miram Shah Shura consists of a number of Haqqani family members and closely associated long-serving commanders.

At the top of the network is Sirajuddin Haqqani, who oversees the group's political and military activities and is the main liaison to the Mullah Muhammad Omar led Quetta Shura Taliban, the Taliban's leadership body (named for the capital of Pakistan's Baluchistan province). He is also one of the network's liaisons to Pakistani Taliban figures and AL-Qaeda.

He travels regularly into Afghanistan " or should I say did as he now claims to be based in Afghanistan" to coordinate with field commanders and occasionally to Peshawar and South Waziristan to connect with militants there. Remember Bowe Bergdhal? There are many field commanders in Afghanistan, but turnover is high because many get killed or captured. The most prominent is Mullah Sangin, who is believed to be holding Pfc. Bowe Bergdahl a captured U.S. soldier and Zakim Shah the movement's shadow governor of Khost province.

I wish we would quickly kill the two head Haqqani's, both Jalaluddin and Sirajuddin and leave the rest to Pakistan as our invasion of their country even to kill Taliban and Al Qaeda fighters who were known killers of NATO forces may be the straw that broke the camels back. People in Pakistan are increasingly marching to have the drone attacks stopped. Fine! If you want the drones stopped then stop the Haqqani's. We know someone there can kill or stop them at will.

I would hate to see the Haqqani network unite with Pakistan " who they once had close ties with particularly the ISI", against us as Pakistan is still furious and rightly so though it may be a ploy to placate civilians. I wish we would just come home. I do not want to see the scenario I discussed many times and that is taking on Pakistan from the Gulf and don't forget Iran!

Anyway you look at it we are viewed as temporary and the violent convoluted backstabbing tribal relationships will always be a way of life in the border area especially. We can only be very concerned how this is going to turn out between NATO, Afghanistan, and Pakistan. It won't be translucent or good!

The Haqqani's seem true to Mullah Omar who wants us out of Afghanistan and want their independent Afghanistan. Pakistan has proven they do not want a free and independent Afghanistan but want to control it. At this point I want to say our soldiers have done their job let them come home as scheduled if not sooner. Let Mullah Omar the Haqqani's and other Taliban interests fight for Afghanistan it is theirs not ours or Pakistan's. Good luck Hamid Karzai that's all I say!

 Afghan election front-runners trade fraud allegations: Former foreign minister Abdullah Abdullah and ex-World Bank economist  will compete in a head-to-head vote after results from the April 5 election showed neither gained the 50 percent needed for first-round victory. The eventual winner will lead Afghanistan into a new era as US-led NATO combat troops end their 13-year war against the Islamist insurgency that erupted after President Hamid Karzai took power in 2001.

"We said from the beginning that fraud is our only rival, and we still hope that the complaints we have delivered will be addressed in a transparent way. "There were fraud violations -- organised, systematic fraud." Abdullah also accused the government of "meddling" in the vote.  The 2009 election, when Karzai retained power after defeating Abdullah, was marred by massive fraud in a chaotic process that shook the multinational effort to develop the country after the ousting of the austere Taliban regime. Preliminary results released on Saturday showed Abdullah secured 44.9 percent of the first-round vote, with Ghani on 31.5 percent.

 Of course there is fraud, one 14 year old said he just voted and in some areas there were more votes than people. Ashraf Ghani is Karzai's man, he will win so Karzai can keep running his drug business. I firmly believe Abdullah won the first election too. It does not matter, the Taliban will waste no time in taking over.

  Afghanistan Chaos Seen After US Troop Withdrawal, Post Says: The National Intelligence Estimate, comprising information gathered by the nation’s 16 intelligence agencies, predicts a resurgence of influence by the Taliban as the U.S. withdraws,the Post said, citing unnamed officials who have read or been briefed on the report. 

 

The Pentagon has pressed Afghan President Hamid Karzai to sign the agreement that would let U.S. forces train and assist Afghanistan’s army after 2014, when most U.S. troops will come home from a war now in its 13th year. Karzai so far has refused to sign.
 Why do we want to be in the middle of the ensuing mess? Intel says gains made in Afghanistan will be gone by 20217 but they will be gone almost instantly and many will die needlessly. Afghanistan belongs to the Taliban not Democracy. Like it or not we have created another Vietnam which belonged to the North Vietnamese!

At this point it is obvious to me that the general population wants the freedom to do what they want in life. Their army has proven that they have the will and wherewith all to fight for their country. I do believe that the vast majority do not want to live with the threat of having their limbs and heads hacked off at the whim of the Taliban.

It is time to treat the Taliban as what they are "enemies of the State" and everyone should take it as their duty to out them so the military can take care of them. Get rid of them, put them in their place while you can, relegate them to an active part of the Government or as a subservient entity.

I personally believe if all Afghan's that want something to say about their own life come out of the closet and start standing up against the Taliban that they can keep the Taliban at bay. Let them have their beliefs but keep them to those that want to follow them.

Mullah Omar was invited to join the upcoming election in 2014 and he did not respond. He did not have to he knows when we are gone so is corrupt Karzai.

I  remember during the election with Abdullah and Karzai's victory was found to be grossly corrupt the people just shrugged and said one corrupt Government is the same as the next.

That said, the people would be wise to remember the cutting off of heads and hands that is routine for the Taliban and how stifling it is under their rule. As a whole they should remember the thousands of them the Taliban have purposely killed. They should form Lashkar's (civilian defense against the Taliban) and eliminate the Taliban or life as they want it is over.

Afghans fear what will happen when troops leave: Among Afghans around the country interviewed by The Associated Press, the worry is pervasive. Many are deeply skeptical that Afghan police and security forces, which the U.S.-led coalition has spent years trying to build, will be able to fight insurgents and militants without American and NATO fighting alongside. Worse-case scenarios that some fear:

The Afghan forces could splinter along ethnic line and prompt civil war, the nation could plunge into a deep recession, or the Kabul government — plagued with corruption and still fragile despite efforts to establish its authority — would remain too weak to hold off a Taliban takeover.

 Just a 45-minute drive south of Kabul, residents of Wardak province directly feel the tenuousness. The province is a battleground for Afghan and coalition forces trying to squash hotbeds of the Taliban. Residents quickly warn visitors that it’s dangerous just to go past a checkpoint less a kilometer (half-mile) outside the provincial capital, Maidan Shahr.

In Afghanistan, Businesses Plan Their Own Exits: America may be struggling to come up with a viable exit plan for Afghanistan, but Abdul Wasay Manani is sure of his. This month, Mr. Manani, 38, flew to India for 14 days to scout out a new business, and a new home, ready to leave Afghanistan and everything he worked to build here, just in case things fall apart when most Americans and other foreign troops leave in 2014. “If the Taliban come like last time, ordering people around with whips, I can’t stay here,” he said. “I have to leave this country to keep my family safe.”

Many Afghans share his concern. In this environment, troubling indicators are not hard to find. More than 30,400 Afghans applied for asylum in industrialized nations in 2011, the highest level in 10 years and four times the number seeking asylum in 2005. The only Western bank operating here said on Wednesday that it would be leaving. Piles of cash equaling about a quarter of Afghanistan’s annual economic output were physically carried out of Afghanistan last year.

I just do not get it. If those people know how bad their life is going to be under the Taliban then why do they not fight to defeat them? *Vietnam all over again regardless of what they say. They are now offering the Taliban to join in the Government.

I really do not care what they do. Our soldiers did their job. We should get them out now with heads held high for a job well done. They have performed magnificently.The Taliban are going to take over again regardless and the people know it that is why everyone who can is making preparations to get out now. Afghans. all of them, better stand up and now if they want to get out from underneath the Taliban gang of miscreant Muslim's.
