Building tension? Japan construction plans on Senkaku " Diaoyu"?

China’s government was incensed by the move, branding it as an affront to Chinese sovereignty and an act of provocation on the part of the Japanese. Although the islands are uninhabited, they are believed to house significant gas resources and the sea around them is a rich fishing ground. The further complicate the territorial dispute, Taiwan also lays claim to the archipelago.

China Banks Pull Out of Meetings in Japan: Several big Chinese banks say they've canceled participation in the high-profile annual meeting of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund to be held in Tokyo next week as well as in the constellation of events taking place alongside. Some of the banks say they've also pulled out of another big financial-industry conference scheduled to take place in the western Japanese city of Osaka at the end of the month.

Most of the banks haven't given a reason for their last-minute no-shows. But the withdrawals come amid an escalating tit-for-tat between China and Japan, whose government recently purchased a set of islands in the East China Sea that are also claimed by China and Taiwan. China has shown its displeasure by canceling some diplomatic events and sending patrol boats into what Japan considers its territorial waters.

We are Taiwan's, Vietnam's, Australia's, and Japan's protectors. As China flex's their military muscles in the area we are not supposed to worry. Just what are we supposed to think they are going to do with their advanced weaponry, missiles, stealth aircraft, aircraft carriers and the like. Their threats are going to become more ominous until they cannot be ignored and it is too late. We have been here before. The world was not supposed to worry as Hitler built his arsenal and we know how that turned out.

Certainly not least: As Syria's fall gets closer the realities on the ground are that Iran is influencing and interfering everywhere they possibly can in order to stop what they think is the US getting its way. It has nothing to do with doing the right thing for Syria as a whole. It has everything to do with keeping the US, the West, and Arabs from having events in Syria go their way and not the way of Iran, Russia, China and the rest of their allies.

This is all about the future direction and control of the entire world. We back Japan against Russia in their Island disputes. We back Brunei, Malaysia, the Philippines, Taiwan and Vietnam, Australia, and anyone else in the world it seem who asks for our help in their disputes involving the China seas. Both Russia and China vow to defend their interests with ever improving military assets. We back Syrian rebels and Arab Nations against Syria,Hezbollah, Iran, Russia, and China.

World War 3 is all I see, it is only a matter of time. As we know from history wars to not get easier over the years they get more violent, and weapons get more destructive to humans and the planet. We can only hope common sense prevails in all this but there is no way!

Japan will never budge on its “sacred” ownership claim to islands as US Scholars say ample proof they are China's

After a very long and heated exchange I believe the argument or "fight" over the island is over and the United States has a way out of a military confrontation with Chine over the islands. However there still remains China's claim of soveriegnty over all the China seas and the significant natural resources. I still believe in the end this will result in open conflict with the US who has stewardship over all the other countries contesting China's position. The long buildup in the fight with China and most of the rest of the world over the Islands and all the China seas

Japan protests as Chinese ships enter disputed waters and calls for war to the death

War over deserted Islands?

Japan protests as Chinese ships enter disputed waters and calls for war to the death

Japan protests as Chinese ships enter disputed waters: Four Chinese ships briefly entered what Japan considers its territorial waters near disputed islands in the East China Sea on Monday, prompting an official protest from Tokyo and renewed diplomatic efforts to cool tensions between the rivals.

In a move that could further complicate the territorial row that is threatening relations between Asia's biggest economies, a group of fishermen from Taiwan -- which also claims the rocky isles -- said as many as 100 boats escorted by 10 Taiwan Coast Guard vessels were headed for the area.

We are Taiwan's, Vietnam's, Australia's, and Japan's protectors. As China flex's their military muscles in the area we are not supposed to worry. A war over desolate Asian islets as Japan to buy Senkaku-Diaoyu islands in dispute with China?

Japan to buy Senkaku-Diaoyu islands in dispute with China: JAPAN'S government has agreed to buy a group of islands at the center of a territorial dispute with China, reports say - a move likely to prove a further irritant in a tense relationship. Tokyo will pay private Japanese landowners 2.05 billion yen ($26 million) for three of the islands, known as Senkaku in Japan and Diaoyu in China, the Yomiuri Shimbun and Kyodo News reported, citing unnamed government sources.

Deputy Chief Cabinet secretary Hiroyuki Nagahama met the landowners on Monday and struck the deal for the islands, which includes Uotsurijima, the largest in the chain, both said. At a news conference Chief Cabinet Secretary Osamu Fujimura refused to confirm the reports, but said negotiations were under way. "We are exchanging views with the landowners in various ways, but that process is ongoing," he said.

Sour grapes on China! Any way you look at it we have followed the on going conflict over the islands and surrounding China seas and this sounds like the winner.

China slams move to nationalize Senkaku islets: "The Japanese action will end in futility," Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Gong Lei said Monday in a statement. China has unofficially warned the Japanese government against building structures on the islets, known in China as Diaoyu, saying such action could have serious repercussions on bilateral relations, sources said. The uninhabited East China Sea islets are under Japanese control but claimed by China and Taiwan.

Beijing's repeated warnings, conveyed behind the scenes through August, apparently aim to keep in check efforts by Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda's government to nationalize the islets by the end of September. While the Noda administration will put up a front that it will not bow down to China's demands, Japan has effectively been taking steps that take into account Chinese sensitivities to prevent the tension from worsening, the sources said.

A war over desolate Asian islets: One should not be too alarmist. The U.S. has declared that the Senkaku Islands (administered by the Okinawa Prefecture when it was returned to Japan in 1972) are covered by the U.S.-Japan security treaty. Meantime, the standoff over the Scarborough Shoal has calmed down and, while Japan recalled its ambassador from Seoul over Dokdo, it’s unlikely the two countries will come to blows.

But it’s worth recalling that China used lethal force to expel Vietnamese from the Paracel Islands in 1974 and 1988. And China prevailed on the Cambodian hosts of this year’s ASEAN summit to block a final communiqué that would have called for a code of conduct in the South China Sea – the first time in the 10-member association’s four-decade history that it failed to issue a communiqué.

China-Russia cooperation fosters prosperous Asia Pacific: Chinese ambassador: As giant neighbors and emerging economies in the Asia-Pacific region, the win-win cooperation between China and Russia will promote prosperity in the entire region, according to Chinese Ambassador to Russia Li Hui.

China-Russia trade and economic cooperation was a pillar of Asia-Pacific regional cooperation. The two partners took the growth of each other as crucial opportunities and bilateral cooperation as one of their main priorities, Li said in an article written ahead of the APEC annual meetings in Russia's Far Eastern city of Vladivostok.
Yeah good for them and bad for the rest of the world especially Japan, the rest of Asia, and the United States.

China angry with Japan over disputed Islands

China Approves City Council, Military Base in Disputed Islands: China says it has formed a municipal council for a newly established city in a disputed part of the South China Sea, and has authorized the deployment of a military base in the area. In a report published Sunday, China's official Xinhua news agency says 1,100 residents of several islands known in Chinese as Xisha, Zhongsha and Nansha have elected 45 deputies to a municipal people's congress. The islands are part of the new city called Sansha, and the council will be based on an island that China refers to as Yongxing, known in English as Woody Island.

Xinhua also says China's Central Military Commission has approved the formation of a Sansha garrison command responsible for “national defense” and “military operations.” The Chinese government declared the establishment of Sansha last month, saying its role is to administer the disputed Paracel and Spratly archipelagos and surrounding South China Sea waters, which are believed to hold oil and natural gas deposits. The islands are claimed in whole or in part by Brunei, China, Malaysia, the Philippines, Taiwan and Vietnam.

The sides are forming for military confrontation around the world: WW3?

Russia to send navy vessels to disputed Pacific islands: The dispute has strained relations between the two countries since World War Two, when Soviet forces occupied the four islands at the southern end of the Kuril chain. Japan says the islands are part of its territory and wants Moscow to hand them over.

The Russian Defence Ministry said the large landing ship Admiral Nevelskoi and the tugboat Kalar will visit three of the four islands to take part in ceremonies honouring Soviet sailors who died there at the end of World War Two.
The Pacific fleet ships are scheduled to travel between Aug. 25 and Sept. 17, it said. Moscow disagrees with Tokyo's claim, and senior Russian officials have drawn protests from Japan in the past two years by traveling to the islands, which Russia calls the Southern Kurils and Japan calls the Northern Territories.

Japan Prime Minister Naoto Kan and Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao will not hold a one-on-one meeting intended to mend ties at an Asian summit as Chinese anger flared over an over-lapping claim in the resource-rich East China Sea. China lambasted Japan on Friday for raising the issue of disputed islands in the sea and a Japanese cabinet secretary later said Beijing had torpedoed a slated meeting between the two premiers at the last minute. Russian PM Visits Disputed Kurile Islands despite continued protests

Russian PM Visits Disputed Kurile Islands: Ahead of his arrival on July 3, Medvedev called the Southern Kuriles "an important part of the Russian land." It will be Medvedev's second official visit to the islands.

In November 2010, he became the first Russian president to visit the island chain, outraging Japan, which refers to the islands as its Northern Territories. The two nations have yet to sign a formal World War II peace treaty due to Tokyo's claim over the islands, which Russia has controlled since Japan's surrender at the end of the war.

Russia Angers Japan With Visit to Disputed Islands, China angry with Japan over disputed Islands: Beware!

US backs Japan on islands dispute with Russia: State Department

President Dmitri A. Medvedev flew on Monday into the south Kuril Islands, which the Soviet Union seized from Japan at the end of World War II, making it clear that Russia had no plans to cede the mineral-rich territory despite Japanese protests. Russia Angers Japan With Visit to Disputed Islands

China lambasted Japan on Friday for raising the issue of disputed islands in the sea and a Japanese cabinet secretary later said Beijing had torpedoed a slated meeting between the two premiers at the last minute. China angry with Japan over disputed Islands

China wants all the Islands and all the China seas, this has got to stop! Now Russia, what the heck is going on here? I know they are after natural resources as we jockey for position as we proceed through this century but this has to stop!

Remember the "incident two years ago with the 10 Chinese warships including destroyers and submarines off Okinawa? This put a new light on things to me. Look at the big picture once again. Japan has got to be rethinking their constant effort to get the US Military to leave Okinawa. It will behoove Japan to have us there. This puts a whole new light on China's turn around on Iran, their monetary finagling, and their last minute turn around on whether or not to attend the nuclear summit. This latest row really has to have Japan rethinking.

Cooperation between China Russia and the US is critical! Obama was right to say our ties will shape the future of the 21st century. The US and China are eying each other and moving very cautiously as they try to strike a balance. A few years back I began to view our relationship with China as the most important in the world. Not because we drove each others economy but because if at the time with Bush's instigation to war with Russia China due to the fact of how our 2 economies are so intertwined that if something happened China would side with us not Russia. I never imagined that today problems between China and Japan would be the issue.

As we discussed there have been at least three cases of groups of Chinese military ships crossing through the area of Okinawa since November 2008, first 4 ships then 6 then 8 and now 10 including destroyers and submarines. That case appeared to be the first involving surfaced submarines. The group of 10 ships, including the submarines, was observed about 90 miles (140 kilometers) southwest of Okinawa in international waters.

Two missile destroyers and three frigate ships from the same group were spotted participating in a flight exercise of carrier-based helicopters April 7-9, the Defense Ministry's Joint Staff Office said in a statement The war ships were in international waters but close to Okinawa and Japan was not notified. That area as you may know has natural resources under the ocean and islands claimed by both Nations. It is important that we stay in Okinawa as China plays a more important role in Asia and around the world as she gains strength militarily and economically as we just discussed. Remember our discussion on the importance of China and the US staying together to move successfully through the 21st century

We must maintain as much of the old world balance and order as we can to maintain a balance as we try to move progressively and successfully through the 21st century! I know of China and Japan's past, I know of the still ongoing Island disputes, the disagreement over natural gas in another area of the East China Sea, I also remember that with China's economic clout rising she took the number 3 seat on the world bank and we talk constantly that China is taking the leading role in Asia and Asia relations.

We failed the test ourselves but being in a superior position puts one in a unique position of power and that power must be handled gracefully, with humility, responsibly, and not abused. That is something I taught all my sons and America under Bush did a lousy job of handling. I am a little worried that China too is getting a little too heavy handed and abusive with her new position of power and beginning to take what she wants instead of being content with what she has which is what I constantly lecture has to be the case if we are to have a future. The time when man and the planet could handle war and colonialism is over, period or else!

China calls weapons modernization drive warnings alarmist "cock-and-bull story.

China calls weapons modernization drive warnings alarmist "cock-and-bull story." We were here with the Nazi's look at the awful details

China media dismiss Pentagon: China's state news agency on Thursday condemned a Pentagon report on China's growing military might, calling its account of Beijing's weapons modernization drive an alarmist "cock-and-bull story."

China military 'closing key gaps': China is on course to build a modern military by 2020, a move that could threaten stability in the Asia-Pacific region, the Pentagon says. In its annual report on China's defense capability, the Pentagon said China had closed key technological gaps.A main aim of the military development was to prevent possible US intervention in any conflict with Taiwan, it said.

The Pentagon said on Wednesday that China was on track to forge a modern military by 2020, a rapid buildup that could be potentially destabilizing to the Asia-Pacific region.

This report is not very long so I hope you give it a quick read. The Pentagon gave this a pretty wide, expansive, and comprehensive look but having followed China's military actions and interests very closely for years you better believe when you get to the nitty gritty China's military prowess is not exaggerated at all but in my eye a bit jaded.

We have been here before with Hitler's "innocent" military build up. China is laying claim to all seas and Islands in Asia and wants to widen its interests. Japan, Vietnam, Taiwan's and US concerns are valid and not exaggerations but I have no idea as to how they can be addressed. Global military buildup aside we are witnessing actions to be concerned about in China's words of innocence.

It is not just the East China Sea, we have talked extensively on China's instigation in the South China Sea but remembering Japan's actions against China before and during WW2 China and that Japan was ultimately defeated China said We hope that Japan will use history as a guide, and earnestly reflect on its defense policies. I believe it is China that should slow down and remember it was the US and her allies that saved her. It is time to share not fight! China has been warning all other Asian Nations not to go after the gas, oil, and other natural resources around the Spratly's, Kurils, Senkaku, and other contested Islands and areas in the China Sea.

China just launched its first aircraft carrier a retrofitted Russian aircraft carrier and is in the process of building it's first Chinese carrier. Anyway then all Asian countries better be prepared. Remember the "incident this past spring with the 10 Chinese warships including destroyers and submarines off Okinawa? This put a new light on things to me. Look at the big picture once again.

As we discussed there have been at least three cases of groups of Chinese military ships crossing through the area of Okinawa since November 2008, first 4 ships then 6 then 8 and now 10 including destroyers and submarines. China accuses Japan of exaggerating it as a military threat: It is no exaggeration it is called truth and you better be concerned

China accuses Japan of exaggerating it as a military threat: The accusation follows a defense white paper earlier this week in which Japan warned that China's naval forces were likely to increase activities around its waters. The two countries have long bickered over ownership of parts of the East China Sea, with the latest flare-up late last year. China's foreign and defense ministries both rounded on the Japan's latest defense report, which laid out worries about China's military modernization and expanding maritime reach.

It is not just the East China Sea, we have talked extensively on China's instigation in the South China Sea but remembering Japan's actions against China before and during WW2 China and that Japan was ultimately defeated China said We hope that Japan will use history as a guide, and earnestly reflect on its defense policies. This puts a whole new light on China's turn around on Iran, their monetary finagling, and their last minute turn around on whether or not to attend the nuclear summit. This latest row really has to have Japan rethinking.

Remember Just prior to this sudden mood and cooperation change with the US we were being threatened for arming Taiwan, for meeting with the Dalai lama in Washington, and threatened with slowing our economic recovery. I fell for the line of thought that the so called experts were floating that China realized that if we go down so do they.

Cooperation between China Russia and the US is critical! Obama was right to say our ties will shape the future of the 21st century. The US and China are eying each other and moving very cautiously as they try to strike a balance. A few years back I began to view our relationship with China as the most important in the world. Not because we drove each others economy but because if at the time with Bush's instigation to war with Russia China due to the fact of how our 2 economies are so intertwined that if something happened China would side with us not Russia, I just do not know any more. I never imagined that today problems between China and Japan would be the issue.

Russia boosts military presence on Kuril islands as the US backs Japan on the disputed Islands

Russia boosts military presence on Kuril islands

The dispute flared up when at the end of Last October Medvedev visited them and made it clear that Russia had no intention of ceding the mineral rich Islands. Japanese ambassador was summoned home over Kuril Islands visit: Lavrov

We had this discussion off and on over the last few years because of this and China flexing its growing military might over Japan in the area. Chinese anger flared over an over-lapping claim in the resource-rich East China Sea, raising the issue of disputed islands in the mineral rich sea

Take a Break: We must maintain as much of the old world balance and order as we can to maintain a balance as we try to move progressively and successfully through the 21st century! With no end to the fishing boat dispute in sight, relations between Asia's two biggest economies are in danger of backsliding. Taiwan has been trying to get involved in this too making their claims, it has been tit for tat ever since even though the boats captain has been released. Both sides want apologies and both want the other to pay. This has got to stop! Now Russia, what the heck is going on here? Remember the "incident this past spring with the 10 Chinese warships including destroyers and submarines off Okinawa? This put a new light on things to me. Look at the big picture once again.

Being in a superior position puts one in a unique position of power and that power must be handled gracefully, with humility, responsibly, and not abused.
