Did you know General McChrystal was Cheney's chief assassin?

Taliban target Afghan elections - 10 Aug 09

Taliban Attack Government Buildings South of Kabul

As usual words were taken out of context to make a story. This time when McChrystal said the Taliban was adapting so we must change tactics. I have heard that NATO said we need more troops and McChrystal on top of the thousands of additional troops already added in the surge plus the additional 4,000 asked for, for training says even more troops may be needed. Taliban gains upper hand in Afghanistan: US commander

I talk about it often that I knew we had a force in place in Pakistan to secure their nukes if we think they are in danger of falling into extremists hands. I do not think I knew that General McChrystal was in charge of that force or that he was in charge of Cheney's assassin squads. I did know he was the head of the Delta force but never thought about their clandestine activities. I invite you to read this and think about it all! Obama's General in charge of Afghanistan was Cheney's chief assassin

Now we're talking as US targets Opium Barons and they attack elections! That said I think we are on the right track finally! I do not think the Taliban is winning nor do I think they have the upper hand. Certainly not now that Baitullah Mehsud was killed taking Al Qaeda and the Taliban's safe haven and the glue that held them together away from them. Especially now that I know who General McChrystal is. We are starting to do the right thing. Opium barons at top of kill or capture list as US targets the Taleban

Generally our so called leaders are very slow to catch on if they aver do but McChrystal is finally doing the right thing in targeting the opium Barons. I do not think it will have any effect what so ever on Opium production. I happen to believe that the opium Barons are Taliban themselves and or certainly know who is as they grow and sell their opium to them to fund their movement.

I know our misleaders have not thought about it but in targeting the opium Barons McChrystal is actually helping the little guy and furthering Capitalism in Afghanistan because this will create a niche for the small poppy farmer who will grow opium and will at the very least sell it on the black market.

The Afghan citizens and the small time poppy farmer are the winners in the Taliban and General McChrystal's new plans as the Taliban say protecting the citizens is their main goal and General McChrystal says the premium is on safeguarding the Afghan population. Sounds like a win, win for the average Afghani to me. Now if we can only get them to care enough about their living condition to help with the so called terrorists like Pakistan's citizens are.

I think you need to rethink this one Jim. When a countries' number one export and source of income is opium the small farmer might have a temporary profit but it isn't doing the nation any good. To say the Taliban is a kinder gentler organization is not what they ment. It means they'll try not to kill the entire village when they are after somebody.

As for the nukes they're of the mobile variety and very difficult to gain control of. What is concerning is the rather large embassy we're building near Islamabad. Pakistan is not a large or wealthy country.

I just do not see opium growing stopped there period. It is all they know. Such a solution will allow farmers to produce legal opium for legitimate interests, and to produce such essential medicine as morphine and codeine.
I was reading a story this morning from the US saying Pakistan's nukes have been threatened numerous times in the last 2 years. That is concerning because I do not want an excuse fabricated to get in their.

I thought the Opium barons were our allies in the fight against the Taliban? The Taliban was capturing and executing these people for violating their laws religious beliefs. So we sided with them to defend them against the Taliban.

These people were known in the opening stages of the war as the Northern Alliance.

Are we now going after the Taliban and their enemies?

Do we have no allies left in Afghanistan?

It could be that we're eliminating the competition of some of our favored drug lords.

I can't see our spooks giving up their lucrative drug funding.

interesting post.

Liked "... as usual words were taken out of context to make a story."
Exactly! As usual and that's how we get a great majority of bad news and riots and wars created!!! Well done for spotting the real cause!

We have made enemies of everyone over there. What the hell is new. At this point kill the barons and you open up the market for the little guy. There is a legal use for poppies. We should put them to work and but everything.

Hi Sarah
In every instance today everything is parsed to get the meaning out of it one side or another wants to further their own agenda!

Allowing the poppy to thrive at all, keeps the whole country corrupt, we are talking 100s of millions of dollars here. It's all very well taking out the opium lords, there are people standing in line to take their place, we are taking pretty serious money.
Perhaps some international aid organization could buy the opium from the farmers and then sell it on to pharmaceutical companies, anything but criminals.

I agree Holte!
They aren't going to change for us. The thing to do is put them to work for us. Buy the stuff and burn it. They pay millions and millions for people to do as we want over there. Seems to me like the cheapest thing to do is to pay off the farmers and do something with the stuff ourselves.

betmo,
Or would that be "stirring the poppies"?

Hi Billy and everyone! Yeah I guess we have to do that every once and a while. I wish it would make a difference.
Speaking of that I was having coffee at 3:00 AM and I saw a map of all the groups in America hate Obama, Anarchy, Take our America back, anti Black, it was unbelievable seeing them train and how many there are. I do not like this at all!

My favorite solution is still, pull out, and let them sort out their own problems.

But we can't. We have the pipeline to protect for our foreign friends, and the profits from the drug trade.

We can't afford to be a massive empire at this time. but history tells us that we won't stop trying until we go bankrupt.

That whole pipeline thing pisses me off because prior to 9/11 it was all about the pipeline. We won't get out because of that and Democracy will never happen. The forever war I attributed to Bush will continue under Obama!

Hi Jim,
On the topic of Opium poppies, and the trade in morphine, heroin, codeine etc....There`s a logical sequence of events taking place over here, quietly and without fuss, in the last few years, the brits are becoming self-sufficient in opiate production.

It`s quite a sight, acres of colourfull flowers, and a good revenue!

Despite the bad press for their misuse, plant-sourced opiates are priceless in the treatment of severe pain and terminal illnesses.

The company is still recruiting farmers...could it spread to the US?

Presently, there`s one company holding the licence to produce heroin for the British health services, however, who knows, perhaps individual hospitals and clinics, patients even, might want to start growing and processing for themselves.
