Was Teddy's stellar career working for the people in the Senate because of remorse and atonement for Chappaquiddick?

Kennedy Memoir: Chappaquiddick 'inexcusable'

The First Draft: Teddy's Life of Remorse and Atonement

Kennedy Memoir: Chappaquiddick 'inexcusable' Did Mary Jo Kopechne end up unknowingly sacrifice her life for the benefit of all Americans as Teddy's Senate achievments in trying to atone for what he did to her ended up benefitting "favorably" every living American?

Whether you liked him or not as you know there was Chappaquiddick and it ended his dreams of a Presidency but he served us better as a US Senator for the down trodden the elderly and those without. He served 46 years, Kennedy was the 2nd most senior member of Congress, the 3rd longest serving Senator in History. He fought for a fair and more just America the whole time. Health care was his passion! I see a Health care reform Bill being passed now as a tribute to Senator Kennedy! Top Democrats vowed to fight for it to honor Kennedy. He said we will all live on in the future we make. Well let us make it!
Teddy secured a waiver to establish a health care Bill in Massachusetts! 1964 American Civil Rights act

1966 passed first common health law

Legacies include the American fair housing Act and the American Disabilities Act!

He was responsible for giving 18 year olds the right to vote.

1969 he gave his first speech on health care

Meals on wheels and ending the draft we owe him for too!

* He personally touched 2500 major pieces of legislation 300 of which were passed into law!

* In 2009 Kennedy's committee was the first to pass health care reform! We can all be thankful Ted Kennedy remained in the Senate and served us all, we are all better for it and I rest knowing he died a happy accomplished man!

He said often at key times"For all those whose cares have been our concern, the work goes on, the cause endures, the hope still lives and the dream shall never die." How do we remember Teddy Kennedy the last of the Kennedy men? His Irishness? His Compassion? His sense of Humor? His senate long fight for health care? His devotion to the common man? Chappaquiddick? teddys-life-of-remorse-and-atonement?

It is always good to praise the good things about a person.

But wasn't he also pro-psychiatry?

It's hard to say what his motivations were. Was it Chappaquiddick or the loss of his brothers? I don't know but he left a goal to strive for.

Pro-pshchiatry? With some of the nut jobs we have out there right now maybe we need some more shrinks.

Demeur, as far as I am concerned, psychiatry creates nut cases, more than anything else!
All schoolshooters are usually on psych-drugs and talking torture and brainwash - where do you think that comes from?
And did you know that Hitler wasn't just a psychiatric patient himself, he was also fully backed up by the shrinks and carried out their ethnic cleansing. That's right - that's where it oririgally comes from! Same thing in Bosnia! the 3 Serbs starting up the war and the ethnic cleansing were in fact 2 shrinks with their patient!

I have never ever seen anybody getting helped by psychiatry, but the only result they delivered were completely destroyed and tortured human beings - suffering horrendously!

He did some good work and the last one indeed.

What about President Kennedy's son though, John John? He's still a Kennedy.

Hi Sarah
I do not know if he was pro psychiatry or not just that he was intensely Religious and went to church every day. As for the Psychiatry industry I agree with you. I think they only make people worse and any cure comes from within.

Demeur I agree it would have to be both of course. He had a lot of weight on his shoulders.

Hi Monique
Many of us had big hopes for John John but he was killed in hie private plane crash along with his wife and sister in law on their way to the Vineyard 10 years ago! JFK Jr Biography

To me Joe Kennedy is our best bet to fill his uncles shoes!

I think James Joiner would be a classier fit. ;)

I knew it wouldn't be long before they drug up his scandals and used them to drag him down.

Larry I am really disgusted at what I have been hearing. Yeah there was Chappaquiddic and you know he was dirty but they let him get away with it and he spent his life securing his brother's legacies and helping the downtrodden.
