US Secretary of Defense Robert Gates says the Arab world should arm against Iran, Been there Done that!

Riz Khan - Nuclear double standard - Sep 7 2009 - Pt 1

We did that long ago! All right I found it. We as you know already upset the balance of power in the middle east and Bush purposely did it to go after Iran. What Gates is supposedly proposing today was already done by us. I had to go back to July 2007 to find the story but you will find this interesting because even under Obama this is still going to happen.

Balancing power they call it. U.S. promises of military aid or arms sales to strengthen its Middle Eastern allies against Iran and other regional foes seem aimed at repairing a balance of power destroyed by the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq. That is not what is going to happen or what this is about. Supposedly Toppling Saddam Hussein ended Iraq's role as a counterweight to Iran, a part it had played since the 1980s in a Gulf security system that Washington had hoped would contain the rival powers.

That was only the smallest of the repercussions. Toppling Saddam gave Bush the excuse to get into the middle east, upset the balance of the entire middle east as Bush knew would be the case, and set the stage for Bush's new middle east order that has long been planned and he will not stop now. This is still just beginning but it will increase rapidly once Bush has others to fight for him. I had some interesting conversations yesterday in relation to yesterdays conversation on this story.

That made me remember how long this has all been planned, and put the rest of this developing scenario together. After 50 years of middle east policy and not arming them to fight wars Bush has changed that in hopes of getting them to fight Iran and Syria. Bush will be freed to attack Pakistan and Iran from the Gulf as Iraq quiets and others fight Iran on the ground! Bush has now pushed his effort to attack Iran in part to a proxy war via Israel, Saudi Arabia, and other so called middle east allies.

He will now be free to go after Pakistan and Iran from the Gulf with our carrier and battle Groups while others will be doing the brunt of the fighting and ground combat. Everything is almost prepared. Bush is prepared in the Gulf and we have a seasoned fleet Admiral in command of middle east forces set to lead events while others expend their efforts on Iran. Gorbachev is right and this will not be good. I have heard that we are thinking of sending undercover special forces to Turkey in order to combat Kurds from Iraq. I wouldn't put it past Bush at all but that too will backfire on us.

You know there are those of us that expect Bush to attack Pakistan too. I expect it in conjunction with the attack on Iran this fall or shortly thereafter. Now he will be in a position to do it.With what he is now doing with Israel, Saudi Arabia, and other so called middle east allies, He will be freed to go after Pakistan while others focus on Iran. With our carrier and battle groups in the Gulf He will be free to take them both on. Bush is one happy camper. July 2007 Middle east balance of power

So having pointed that out I find it again disingenuous for Gates to be saying that the 'Arab world should arm against Iran'

Yes, Ahmadinejad once again supplied the impetus for him to say that but the stage was set long ago and it will not be changed regardless of what we want because stolen or not Ahmadinejad is still in power and he will do his share to get this going as you can read. Ahmadinejad derided his nuclear and Political opponents by likening them to "pollutants" staining "the gown of the revolution

Seems like Gates has a part-time job working for the Arms Dealers. Two-thirds of all arms business done last year was through American suppliers. Like you said we've been there and done that before. The results of us arming one side against the other echos through the years and price paid is in blood. Speaking against it is like trying turn back the tide. We move seamlessly from one administration to another and nothing changes. It appears that there is a policy in place and no new President has any influence or desire to change it.

There doesn't seem to be any morals in the middle east for us. We overthrew Irans leader and installed the Shia then when he died and power shifted to anti- American we backed Sadam. In the process selling arms to all takers. We're so imoral that at one point in the Iraq occupation we were selling arms to the Sunnies and the Shia at the same time. And remember it was us who trained and armed Al Qeada and the Taliban when they were fighting the Russians. Gad! Orwell was right.
But remember "no health care for you" that would cost money and actually save lives. Can't have that.

Holte I refuse to believe we are doing this. Especially in the middle east we are adding hi octane fuel to what will be a raging inferno.

Demeur I can not believe we purposely upset the middle east apple cart and sadly this is barely beginning.

Believe it, Jim.

Brother I am trying to get things positioned so I can go down to the VA tomorrow and I was just working on something. Man I am so disturbed! I am fining that nothing has frigging changed and everything Bush set in motion Obama is getting credited for and is still going to happen! Because of Bush we have discussed all this crap before. I'm disgusted!

Couldn't Obama figure out that keeping a Bush war monger in power would only escalate Bush's forever wars.

Larry--
You betcha! After they sat him down to watch the Magruder film, that convinced him. :)

The difficulty with all this noise is that Iran would be the best ally the west could find to keep the Taleban out of Afghanistan and Pakistan. They will not wish to have a fundamentalist bunch of sunni bigots sitting on their eastern border with the capacity to de-stabilise a nuclear Pakistan.

Looking north, the Chinese have serious difficulties in their western provinces and again an islamist ruled Afghanistan would not be on their wish list; neither would the Russians. Finally however much India and Pakistan squabble the Indians have no wish to see the break up of Pakistan if it means strongly islamist regimes holding nuclear bombs to their west.

My point is that the west in the pretence of combatting terrorism have got themsleves embroiled in an unwinnable conflict from which they cannot benefit. Unless there is a great deal of hidden action, the beneficiaries of a stable secular Afghanistan are sitting on the sidelines; in one case placed there deliberately by our own rhetoric. It's a no brainer to me why the west doesn't hold its collective nose and engage with Iran on the basis of mutual self interest.

Larry I am convinced that was the goal and as long as Obama continues these wars they will keep him alive. If he tries to get out of one he is a dead man!

Hi Richard T
Welcome! This is another small part of the total lie we have been living since the inception of Bush!

Iran would absolutely be a major ally. They are deadly enemies. Iran use to help Afghanistan as they are on the Taliban's menu too. The Taliban believe Iran too belongs to them.
