Two days ago we discussed the axis of Russia, Iran, and Venezuela now Putin wants to head it as President and can!

Putin for president in 2012?

These three stories are interconnected and together very important. I implore you to read all three of the links and you will see they tell a complete story and it is not good. I have written about all this numerous times during Bush's regime. While he was going around the world arming who he wanted and war mongered he was driving the non aligned nations and much of the world to ally with Russia to take him on.

I had great hopes that Obama's election would put an end to the anti American fervor and the desire to see us go down. Because of Bush you may remember there was a drive by nations against us to gain life time Presidency to stay in control to stay in control in the fight for the future they all knew was coming.

We discussed often the arming of Venezuela and South American Nations are the reemerging Russian navy in our back yard waters as they have started using Cuba with their nuclear ships again and are now visiting Venezuela as well. Obama tries to unify the world but we see nothing has changed. Chavez and Ahmadinejad HATE America and are reinforcing their ties. The Emerging Axis of Iran and Venezuela

Hugo Chávez deepens petroleum and military ties with Russia

We knew Putin wanted to stay in power but Russian law only allowed two terms so Putin got his puppet Medvedev elected as President and he has continued to pull the reins as the prime minister. He has continued to dictate Russian actions and policies as the Defacto President. Putin Russia's current PM and former president has now given the clearest signal to date that he is considering a return to his old job.

Putin told Russian 45 Russian experts from around the world that ha and President Medvedev were in meetings trying to decide who was going to run as President in 2012 and that he was mildly optimistic about a reset in relations proposed by Obama. I found that odd that scares the hell out of me that, we have to fear the nightmare Bush being President here again. That is a scary thought but I think it can happen? Anyway I wish Putin and Medvedev would both run and divide the country but Putin would win. I guess he wants to run the country as the President not the PM.

Worse the constitution has since been changed to extend terms to six years from four therefore If Mr. Putin were to return to office in 2012 he could potentially remain until 2024. I have more than mixed feelings about that. Great concern would be an understatement because like most of you when Bush looked into Putin's eyes and saw a good man I saw evil and a man with nothing but contempt and hate for us. That has not changed in any regard! Putin Signals Desire to Return to Presidency

Listening to Putin rattle off his concerns about US intentions, with Iran coming out to extend official recognition of South Ossetia and Abkhazia, over whose survival Russia fought a brief but bloody war with Georgia last year. Until now only Nicaragua has joined Moscow in recognizing the independence of the two republics. I still only see future war and do not like to see the likes of Putin Chavez and Ahmadinejad uniting together against us nor do I like the prospect of another 12 years of Putin at the helm to unify the world against us because that is all that will come out of it.

I don't really see much change in the situation. We've been playing cat and mouse with Russia since the 50s.
So as for the real situation look what they do with any SALT agreements from here on out.
Chavez doesn't have the power you think he does and Amadinajad is becoming the puppet of the supreme leader and that country's issues aren't over yet. Lastly nobody did their homework on Georgia and South Odessa. That was something we tried to stir up. That was about pipelines not property rights or citizenship.

Chavez is in our backyard that is his big ace and why China and Russia are arming them. I had big hopes all this crap would change with Obama's election but nope!

"...Chavez and Ahmadinejad HATE America..."

This statement is patently untrue. What Chavez, Ahmadinejad, and a host of others hate, is America's hegemonious Foreign Policy. This includes, but is not limited to, our quest for global dominance, both militarily and economically; and our unmitigated support for rogue nations, i.e., Israel can do no wrong.

Proof of this, Jim, you can probably attest to yourself. For years, Chavez has been supplying low cost heating oil to the Northeast. You don't do this sort of thing if you have hatred for someone.

Although this may sound un-patriotic or anti-American, having the likes of Chavez, Ahmadinejad, and Putin building a strong global coalition may be the best thing that can happen to America. We just may need to be humbled in order to shed our veil of arrogance.

Will it be painful? As Mooselini would say, "You betcha!". But it may be a necessity for us if we ever intend on re-claiming our status in this world, which incidently, is NOT as 'The Boss'.

We have to get past the avaricious notion, that as 5% of the world's population, we are 'entitled' to a third of it's natural resources, and that is a conservative estimate.

It's time to replace avarice with altruism. A failure to do so will result in our demise. Think about it, my friend, the destruction of America would free up much needed resources for the remaining 95%.

You think China and Russia arming other countries is some great evil, yet you fail to acknowledge that it is the U.S. that supplies 66% of the global arms sales. Explain the difference to me.

OK, I'll shut up now. :)

Shame on you Brother give me a kiss, you know you don't have to tell me any of that. those two hate what our leaders do not us but like it or not we are a package deal.

We are the biggest arms dealer which pisses me off but what really bothers me is we give nuclear knowledge and high tech weapons to those who say they'll help us but they always turn on us.
What I was referring to was while Bush was selectively arming countries around the world Russia and China were doing it right here in our backyard.

The crawlers hate the U.S and even more so since Bush tried his empire of evil, and the hate goes on.

Chavez and Ahmadinejad may or may or may not hate America, but the Venezuelan and Iranian people probably don't, although it is easy to whip populations into a frenzy of hate, look how a large chunk of the population here dislike Muslims, or how millions of American whites have a deep distrust of their black American co-citizens. I do not see convincing evidence that either, Chavez or Ahmadinejad have stirred their populations in an anti-American frenzy and neither has Putin now matter how fake the Russian democracy is I do not feel anti-Americanism from Russia, not like when I was a boy, in the 1950s and early 60s, when we thought we going to die pretty soon.
I can see Russia putting in their 2 Roubles worth, Iran is right on their border. The US military has over 700 military bases the Pentagon admits to, scattered all over the globe, the US Navy patrols every ocean, Russia and China have as much rights as we do to patrol international waters.
The Russians or the Chinese military never really stray far from their own borders, in recent or long term history, they are so insecure at home they may need their military to keep the peace on their own doorstep.

Look at Russia and Putin from the perspective of history to undertand if not to condone. Russia has lost the Soviet empire stretching to the west of Berlin and Bulgaria; it's lost Ukraine and the Caucasus republics; it's lost all the former west asian states; the whole lot in the last 20 years. Just how are they supposed to see the west and the world?

I see Putin as a russian nationalist who will go on the offensive to protect Russia's interests. The US went meddling with Israel in Georgia and Ukraine talking nonsense about joining them into NATO. The President of Georgia is as nasty a bit of nationalist work as you might find and he gave Russia a golden opportunity to walk in to protect the South Ossetians who were being bullied by the Georgians. He will react to provocation so turn the picture upside down and look at the world through Russian eyes and the US and the west do not seem quite so innocent - a Russian might see encirclement.

I can't see Chavez as being much else than a posturing trouble maker who hasn't got the staying power.

In the case of Iran, just ask yourself how and why the west has been doing the Iranians' dirty work for them and gaining the hatred of the muslim world for it into the bargain. We hit Saddam hard in the 1990s after the war between Iran and Iraq; we then deposed him, smashed the whole Iraqi state apparatus and opened the way for a Shi'ite majority government in Iraq; before that we got the Taliban out of Afghanistan and we're now expending heaven knows what in material and soldiers to keep them out. All these have been to the Iranians's advantage. But again look at the world from the iranians' viewpoint and see encirclement and confrontation. Just who started what?

I don't think the west has the brain in its foreign policy to construct alliances based on mutaul self interests; we posture about all the western values whilst actually showing the world how little we value them - torture anyone?; unquestionning support for Israeli policies designed to ensure that the Palestinians don't get a viable polity on the west bank; silence and active tolerance when Israel destroyed the Lebanese economic revival.

With every respect, this has been led by the US, actively supported by the UK. This is not to imply I am anti west or anti the USA. I am a Gaullist/Kissinger realpolitik merchant and you can't understand your own position without analysing that of the others.

Sorry for the length of this; I got a bit carried away.

Hi Larry! I was hoping for an end to the world division Bush purposely created but as we kept saying, this has taken on a life of its own and will not be stopped.

Holte it is not the citizens. I trust the average citizens of the world. They want peace and prosperity. It is the leaders of the world we have to fear. They are the problem!

Hi Richard
Carry away I like to hear it! Man the more you learn the more you have to see that we are responsible for all the world problems today as far as relations go.

Bush did his damnedest to create division and war monger. His Forever war will still happen I am afraid.

Russia, Iran, and many Nations have ever right in the world to hate us and the Brits. Bushco stupidly harangued Russia instead of coming together for world peace.

That scum Bush!
