The Taliban do not want a Democracy period. They want strict Sharia law! They are arguably defeating us in Afghanistan. Why the hell should they talk from a position of strength. The will not!
Most realize by now that Obama plans on reaching out to Iran To help in Afghanistan! At first glance that sounds ridiculous but I believe cooperation will happen. I had no idea back in 1998 Iran was prepared to attack Afghanistan or that since they have been supplying weapons to Northern Afghanistan to fight the Taliban! check out the numerous common interests including survival

* We are in serious trouble as in my naivety I have hit the nail on the head more than a few times and have been right all along though ridiculed while this war against so called terrorism which I have said since 9/11 is like it or not a fight against all of Islam and nothing less than our survival is at stake. You at least looked at all the titles now I will sum up just one story that ties them all together and that is "The Taliban get their first wish" As I never knew this and the entire world better friggen wake up because like it or not 9/11 was albeit a bad joke but just a joke as to what the future holds for us! This is no joke to co called Islamists and the Taliban!
I had no idea when I mentioned that Pakistan and Afghanistan was the front line in this war against "Islamists" how right I was! finding this out just blew me away! I found out that many Muslim's believe that what is modern day Afghanistan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and Iran, is the promised land from where they will secure victory in the end of days battle which ultimately will be fought in Palestine, Lebanon, and Syria. Knowing this now makes sense of all the events we have been discussing with Syria, Lebanon, Gaza, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and to my surprise Iran. I had no idea Iran and the Taliban are enemies. This is a relationship we better exploit and it sounds like we are!
What a surprise! The valley of Swat is right in the middle of this! With Petraeus trying to negotiate a supply line through there no wonder the Taliban are elated at their victory in securing the area as a stronghold under Sharia Law! The area in question is the Northwest Frontier Province (NWFP) and includes Islamabad! Now the Taliban is only 65 miles from Islamabad.This is not good for our future! This is a huge defeat for us and a huge victory for the Pakistani Taliban and it bothers me that this was brokered by the Pakistani Government who are supposedly on our side and we are being told hands off. This is a major defeat for the United States, NATO Pakistan, India, Karzai, even Iran and indeed the entire world as hordes of trained fighters already swarmed from the Swat area and now that we are ramping up in Afghanistan Pakistan has capitulated. * If we are to have a victory Russia, India, Iran, indeed the entire so called civilized world is going to have to unite. This region throughout history has never been defeated militarily and will not now unless we all realize the future we want will not be unless as a whole we realize how critical the situation is and that united we stand divided we fall, one at a time!
We better unite as a world and quick! We could add a million troops and it would only be matched by the Taliban and other insurgents. They can and will more than match us fighter to fighter and this is their home turf. I used to say if we could secure the Afghan Pakistan Border we could then concentrate on the Taliban and rebuilding Afghanistan. However, knowing the territory and seeing the map there is no way in hell that is going to happen. I thought the Mexican border was violent and it is but the Pakistan Afghanistan Border is the most violent in the world today.
I have been long convinced Bush guaranteed a loss in Afghanistan and everywhere else when he insisted on attacking Iraq so he could help Israel create a new middle east order. I am afraid this is just taking shape and both sides, the Taliban and our so called allies are still just forming the front lines and gathering forces, Both sides are still just beginning to build and This is still just beginning! Afghanistan has never been defeated but that is not even my biggest concern. We have for generations been angering Muslims and certainly in the last 8 years done everything possible to ensure an endless supply martyrs wanting to give their life to kill infidels for Allah!

* In closing, Rove and Cheney are concerned about continuing the lie we lived under them and Bush and rewriting their dire History and preserving Bush's legacy of destruction as a great thing. Bush the servant of God, purveyor of war torture and destruction, doing it al for God in the name of peace. Sick! I do not see the necessary rosy scenario happening that would lead to a successful outcome for us. Rove, Cheney, Hannity, Limbaugh, and other right wing extremists have succeeded in undermining Obama's good intentions of restoring unity and world order. Republican Extremists are creating chaos and disorder here. Russia is closing in on Georgia, Iran is posturing, Fidel refuted everything Raul said, The Taliban has now offered Bin Laden safe haven. The Taliban has extended their territory to within 65 miles of Pakistan's Capitol of Islamabad. Pakistan and Afghanistan is just beginning and thanks to Bushies will be hell on earth. Add in what we discussed yesterday and knowing mother earth the essence of all life can not take any more environmental destruction we are in serious trouble!

Interesting you should say that Tim. I was thinking the very same thing. That's how Vietnam ended. There is one slight problem here. That would be that Pakistan has nukes and I'm sure Al Qeada would just love to get their hands on them. Even if we struck a deal with them there's still Bin Ladin. I don't think the U.S. would stand for letting him get off scott free.

This is just barely beginning. The Taliban are only 65 miles from Islamabad. You know despite whet we hear that they will get the nukes and it will suck but we will try to stop them. This mess is just barely taking shape!
We need to make serious changes over there. All we get is permanent war if we stay.
Pakistan is by far the most dangerous powderkeg on the planet now.
Maybe we can bribe the Pakistanis with enough cash to buy their nukes.
I would hope we have contingency plans to confiscate those weapons if the Islamists get any closer to power.

Pakistan seems to be capitulating and saying FU to us and our money. They are going to shoot down the drones and the Taliban gave Bin Laden safe haven for what that's worth. With the Taliban uniting with Al Qaeda and only 65 miles outside of Islamabad we are in some serious shit, WTF can we do? Friggen Bush! This is just beginning!

I don't see a problem. al-Qaeda doesn't have a snowball's chance of getting it's hands on Pakistan's nukes. Although they may have some inter-relational associations, there is a world of difference between the two groups. Calling the Taliban and al-Qaeda, 'birds of a feather' is naive, at best.
The U.S. HAD bin Laden at Tora Bora in December of 2001, and George W Bush let him go. Can any one believe that a 6'6" Arab on dialysis could stay hidden? Especially with over $50 Million in bounty on his head? If we kill the boogie-man, there would be no need for fear. Besides that, there have been several seperate reports of bin Laden's death since 2005. No credible, verifiable source has seen him to refute the allegations.

The Taliban has always given bin Laden safe haven. Tora Bora was a Taliban stronghold. Even in the unlikely scenario that the Taliban gets control of the nukes, our worries, safety-wise, are minimal.
The ones at danger are Western Big Oil, like the American Oil Company (Unocal), Shell Oil, et al. Contrary to popular Neocon/Zionist propoganda, the Islamists are not out to destroy the world. They are not crazy, nor are they stupid. They fully realize that firing off even one nuke would guarantee their annihilation.

I hope they DON'T have contingency plans for confiscating those weapons. That would open a Pandora's Box we could never be able to close. And by the way, the Islamists are already in power in Pakistan.
As a note to everyone: Pakistan is about 97% Muslim (Islamist). 77% are Sunni and 20% Shia. The Taliban are Sunni. Although al-Qaeda is Sunni, it is a sub-sect called Wahhabi. This is the extremely conservative form of Sunni. Much like the extreme-right Evangelicals of Christianity. Wahhabism is the dominant form of Islam in Saudi Arabia. No where else. And not all Wahhabis are backers of al-Qaeda. In actual numbers, al-Qaeda is a very small organization. Ferocious and radical? Yes. Powerful and large? No. We have been spoon-fed fear. Anyone who is a terrorist has been automatically refered to as 'al-Qaeda'.
America likes to call itself, 'the land of the free and the home of the brave'. If we're so damn brave, then why do we piss our panties everytime we hear, or think about, 'terrorists' or 'al-Qaeda' or the Taliban?

Two things have always bothered me about Tora Bora. We built it for the Muhajadeen fighting Russia. We knew the ins and outs. Like you said, they let him escape. I remember they were watching the large caravan leaving at night and go into Pakistan and did nothing to stop it!
Jim, Perhaps it is not in the interests of the Chinese and Russians to assist the US.
As Tim mentions, the Taliban will not venture forth from Islamic land, their objective is to drive out the Americans and NATO...nothing more.
As a matter of fact, even Europe may not be fully in support of the US.
A rout and collapse of US forces, might be what many states across the globe would want.
As for Bin Laden...and the matter of 9/11, there is much contention as to who did what on that day, and it would be a topic in itself.

I agree they both would prefer to see us fail. The Russian have their problem with the Chechnya and China has their problem. The world better all get together and make believe they understand the situation. They are on the menu too.
