Gaddafi taunts the west: "I'm in a place where you can't get me" as Obama senses weakness, re-focuses on war in Libya, time to up the ante?

Obama re-focuses on war in Libya: President Obama is re-focusing U.S. efforts in Libya, amid reports that Moammar Gadhafi is struggling.

Nato Says Colonel Gaddafi Is Losing Support: Nato has said there is growing evidence Colonel Muammar Gaddafi is losing the support of his troops, as the Libyan government denies that he is dead or injured.

Captive Soldiers Tell of Discord in Libyan army: The soldiers, interviewed at a rebel prison, spoke bitterly of their lot but also chose their words carefully.

Libyan Opposition Reaches out to France: Libyan opposition leaders will seek additional support from France on Saturday, a day after the U.S. stopped short of granting the opposition's Transitional National Council (TNC) full diplomatic recognition.

time to up the ante: NATO must step up bombing missions over Libya to increase the pressure on the Gaddafi regime or risk allowing the dictator to cling to power, the head of the UK's armed forces said

In the west's eyes we are being forced to step this up and we should not. It was obvious from the get go that the rebels could not do this on there own not from lack of desire but because Gaddafi the mad man would kill as many as he could and he is. It would make him very happy if we put boots on the ground as it would in the very least motivate the mercenaries fighting for him and his loyal followers. We are beginning to recognize the rebel Government more and more, that I am afraid means we are in this fore the long haul and will have to come to the rescue if this goes south instead of leaving the rebels to their own demise.

I am afraid this is just beginning unless we can kill them all and we can't so WTF are we doing there? We can't go in Osama style with seal team 6. Our only option is to get the hell out of there and supply the rebels with arms food money and medicine unless Gaddafi tries to mine the sea ports again. I said it when we first got involved in Libya but this whole thing just blows me away. Then there is Syria, Iran, and the rest of the middle east and Africa.

I said from the beginning in Libya that if we are serious we had to go directly after Tripoli and Gaddafi's extensive military assets there. We are finally doing that. If there was a way to totally neutralize Gaddafi's heavy weapons and defenses those rebels may stand a chance. Still, remembering Gaddafi's original statement that many thousands will be killed I am afraid he is getting closer to using his cyanide, mustard gas and vast reserves of chemical weapons.

Gaddafi already issued gas masks to those doing his murdering for him. What choice will we have but to drop a MOAB (mother of all bombs) or a 30,000 pound bunker buster in the middle of his compound designed to dig 7 or 8 stories underground before detonating and take as many of them out as we can. They are not going to relent period. We can not get any deeper than we are so I am happy to see the rebels making gains.

I frankly gave up on Libya Jim, and simply because of the reason the first few dayz of it, when I wrote that satirical posting about it for Tim and his wife Melissa over at Scared Stiff, when they were asking what it was about. I mean, I knew it was going to be BS as far as our involvement and calling it every goddamn thing but "war", we know how much petro business is involved here, we know no one give's a rat's ass about these people except those people, politician's looking for vote's. or media's/ blog's trying to look fashionable/ liberated, with "save the people" crap, etc. I'll be honest here ... I really dont give a rat's ass about the Libyan people, and I'm sure most who read your post wont say that ... but I really dont, I wouldnt care if their free, or eating shit sandwiches daily or whatever ... I care about issues we have in our country ... and sick and tired of all the handout's and support period we give to many place's that cant even get their shit together. I care mostly about how much our taxes have to spend on this shit, I care about the thousand's of Vet's that come back home from some of these place's who are sleeping in our street's, etc I dont hate these folk's over there, but I dont love them either, why would I? ... they done nothing for my country, and I dont need to interfere with their's ... but that's just my honest opinion Jim.

I agree about being concerned about our many and sizable interests and sickened that our misleaders ignore them all while they bicker and only care about their own party. That said I do not want to see a mass slaughter of anyone but don't believe we can intervene everywhere. We are in a very bad time in man and the planet's life regardless of what the asses say!
