Live: Battle for Tripoli Gaddafi compound under attack right now!

To see Seif, who has become as hated as his father during the six-month conflict back on the streets a free men, was a great shock for the rebels. To see him on TV footage on the international media boasting to foreign journalists there that his father’s government was still “in control” was something nobody could have envisaged. He was full of himself as he said the regime had lured the rebels into a trap. It raised significant questions about the credibility of rebel leaders. It was not clear whether Seif had been in rebel custody and escaped, or was never held at all. His brother, Mohammed, who reportedly was on house arrest was also free, having escaped on Monday. Seif al-Islam showed up at the Hotel, in a convoy of armoured Land Cruisers. In brief comments he said his father and several of his sisters were safe in Tripoli, and that loyal troops had "broken the back" of the rebels who moved into the capital over the weekend.

He said news of his arrest had been a trick by the rebels, and that he had been travelling around Tripoli in his armoured convoy the entire time. He went on to say that government forces had lured the rebels into a trap in the capital, and that Al Qathafi loyalists "have broken the spines of those rats and those gangsters.

Gaddafi had me for one convinced of a blood bath and he still make make sure there is one. Some 200 rebels rode into Tripoli's port and marched through the suburbs with Tripoli rebels to give them support. Gaddafi had earlier opened up the armories and issued AK47's to all the residents and anyone who wanted a weapon.

With no resistance rebels advanced quickly and I just heard on the news they have now made it to the center of Tripoli, Green Square where all the pro Gaddafi supporters were rallying to support him. It seems like Rebel efforts to reach the tribes loyal to Gaddafi and encourage them to rebel against Gaddafi or at least not to take up arms in his defense.

It seems to have worked at least up to now. It seems all the citizens have taken their arms and stayed home, the tribes that supported Gaddafi seem to have melted away for now. Rebels were able to rive right into Tripoli and arrest Seif Al-Islam without a fight.Seif who vowed to fight to the death and die on Libyan soil. Hm!

I was just listening to Gaddafi while writing this and he was laughing saying don't worry this is not over. The guy is a madman and has always made me nervous. I would put nothing past him. Ghaddafi is not gone yet. His son Khamis is on his way with a Brigade of killers to protect his father and take back Tripoli. It is his threat to kill hundreds of thousands with his plentiful WMD that concerns me.

I remember a couple months back hearing that Gaddafi had issued gas masks to the murderous soldiers that supported hm. Remembering his original statement many thousands will be killed I am afraid he is getting closer to using his cyanide, mustard gas and vast reserves of chemical weapons. I have not heard anything about those weapons nor have I heard anything from the supposed 200,000 soldiers still supporting Gaddafi.

I have to wonder what horrible trick Gaddafi has up his sleeve. His demise seems to be near but you have to be very concerned as to what will come next in Libya. It is not just Libya we have to be concerned with as you know.

It would be nice to see this end with a Democracy but with Libya's many tribes many which supported Gaddafi including his own tribe plus the Islamists some of which have been fighting for the rebels I see a long hell here and combined with what we have done in Iraq and Afghanistan along with the still growing Arab spring and Syria and Iran...

If we want to kill Gaddafi as I heard John McCain said was the goal and a must if NATO was to survive we must use bunker busters and do it in a mass attack of every site he may be at whether he is shielded by civilians or not. If they are stupid enough to be around Gaddafi they have made themselves targets.

I just want to end our commitment and head home where we should be. We have enough to do and Yemen and the Gulf of Aden the next front in the so called war on terror are heating up as we speak and getting ready to explode.

Women are now volunteering to fight for Gaddafi, they "the forces loyal to Gaddafi" are not going to relent period. We can not get any deeper than we are so I am happy to see the rebels making gains but leery with Gaddafi forces encroaching on Tunisia and attempting to widen this war or whatever you want to call it.

Gaddafi will go nowhere despite all efforts to persuade him to leave as we said would be the case on day one! Glad to see this is going the way of the rebels and wonder what Libya and the region will look like without Gaddafi? That said it sickens me that we have frozen multiple $Billions of Gaddafi's assets and the rebels have been selling oil so I refuse to believe they are looking for funding. Stupid us will give it to them to. At the very least they should be given Gaddafi's Billions and should be paying us for the personnel and materials used in our efforts to help them acquire their freedom.

We are beginning to recognize the rebel Government more and more and more of the world are coming forward and speaking up against Gaddafi., that I am afraid means we are in this for the long haul and will have to come to the rescue if this goes south instead of leaving the rebels to their own demise. I am very concerned because this is not just Libya, this is all the tribes in the region many of who are right now receiving $1000 a day to fight for Gaddafi. I am convinced the end of Gaddafi is just the beginning of this mess.

I am afraid this is just beginning unless we can kill them all and we can't so WTF are we doing there? We can't go in Osama style with seal team 6. Our only option is to get the hell out of there and supply the rebels with arms food money and medicine unless Gaddafi tries to mine the sea ports again. I said it when we first got involved in Libya but this whole thing just blows me away. Then there is Syria, Iran, and the rest of the middle east and Africa.

I do not want to see anyone's citizens being senselessly slaughtered but we never should have gotten involved in Libya in the first place. It was obvious to an idiot that Gaddafi is a mad man with extensive assets up his sleeves and he will not relent. He will do whatever he can to slaughter the rats who want a free Libya because Libya belongs to him and his family. I hate to say it but we are getting very deep and this is going to be much worse than Iraq and Afghanistan.

In the last week alone, Nato has destroyed 149 military buildings, 24 ammunition dumps and 20 armored vehicles. Tripoli sites bombed, rebels claim Misrata: NATO warplanes struck a command center in Tripoli early Tuesday in the heaviest bombing of the Libyan capital in weeks, while rebels — capitalizing on other NATO air strikes — reported battlefront gains that could ease the siege of the port city of Misrata.

Personally we have enough going on already but NATO thus the US have already gotten involved with their 3rd war in a Muslim country. The no fly zone is a failure as I see it because Libya's extensive offensive air capabilities have not been taken out. Gaddafi is not going to stop regardless. His use of not just rockets and missiles were are being degraded but his use of balloons and parachutes to drop deadly ordinance on his people and their resources shows that we can not do enough unless someone in NATO gets their boots on the ground.

I do not want to see anyone's citizens being senselessly slaughtered but we never should have gotten involved in Libya in the first place. It was obvious to an idiot that Gaddafi is a mad man with extensive assets up his sleeves and he will not relent. He will do whatever he can to slaughter the rats who want a free Libya because Libya belongs to him and his family.

We are being forced to step this up and we should not. It was obvious from the get go that the rebels could not do this on there own not from lack of desire but because Gaddafi the mad man would kill as many as he could and he is. It would make him very happy if we put boos on the ground as it would in the very least motivate the mercenaries fighting for him and his loyal followers.

I am afraid this is just beginning unless we can kill them all and we can't so WTF are we doing there? We can't go in Osama style with seal team 6. Our only option is to get the hell out of there and supply the rebels with arms food money and medicine unless Gaddafi tries to mine the sea ports again. I said it when we first got involved in Libya but this whole thing just blows me away. Then there is Syria, Iran, and the rest of the middle east and Africa.
