Q&A: Health effects of radiation: Reactor Rethink: Japan asks IAEA for help

Live feed of the disaster and the Emperor's speech

In pictures: Struggling on

IAEA: Japan reactor building fire seen for 30 minutes That all means it is worse than they say and as bad as we think!

The Japanese army has abandoned its attempts to use a helicopter to pour water on the stricken Fukushima nuclear plant due to fears over radiation.… The race is on to avert a nuclear catastrophe as the situation gets more and more desperate. Remember, this is still early on!

Tokyo eerily quiet as fears over a nuclear nightmare grip one of the worlds biggest cities, people are staying indoors. Tokyo's streets are normally bustling with cars and pedestrians

I am hearing all kinds of misinformation. On my local Boston station WBZ they were saying radiation has dropped and they had sent the people back to the reactor to secure the reactors. Totally untrue! They raised the levels of radiation termed as acceptable so they could send those people back in to sacrifice their lives for the country.

Q&A: Health effects of radiation

Analysis: Problems mount It appears that for the first time, the containment system around one of the Fukushima Daiichi reactors has been breached.

Foreign firms evacuate staff

As I said, I don't care what they say. This is going to be worse than Chernobyl. Japan is an island and about the size of California. Location, location, location. I am going to check out the latest now. In every regard things are moving so fast. Hope for the best plan for the worst. That is what I absolutely expected Japan had done. They of all people should know better than to take chances with a nuclear reactor let alone many. I understand we were warning them from the early 70's that their safety systems were inadequate

Some Americans were warning them, and some were helping them build them.

It's always about the money.
