A warning to would-be interventionists in Libya

American Military Strategy in Libya

Fresh protests hit Libyan capital after Friday prayers and are confronted by Gaddafi supporters

Anything being done has got to be done by Libyan's, they must do the heavy lifting and if there is any outside help it must come from the Arab League and the African Union who we can reinforce and advise but that is it. This is the right way to go about it!

Libya's tribes rise up against Gadhafi as soon after the Libyan rebellion escalated, a senior member of the nation's powerful Warfallah tribe announced it would no longer support Moammar Gadhafi, saying that "he is no longer a brother."

nomadic Tuareg mercenaries from Mali, Niger, and Algeria join Gaddafi lured by huge salaries

At least 30 civilians killed after Gaddafi loyalists try to retake rebel-held town of Az Zawiyah, witnesses say. At least 30 civilians have been killed after security forces loyal to Muammar Gaddafi, Libyan leader, attempted to retake the rebel-held territory They are not Gaddafi loyalists they are mercenary killers given $10,000 and $1,000 a day to kill Libyans. Both sides claim victory but it looks like the rebels took the oil port and despite the Barbary shown by Gaddafi, his sons, and their Tuareg mercenaries, rebels say they can win if someone air drop them much needed food and weapons.

Arab League Opposes Foreign Intervention in Libya Arabs may impose Libya no fly zone in cooperation with the African union. Well, then get going!

Of course Russia and China are against a no fly zone but if it is imposed by Arab and African countries that would satisfy the third principle, that China would “heed and respect the opinions and positions of Arab countries and African countries, You can forget about the first 2 principles as Gaddafi will not use diplomacy or peaceful means. Instead he promises rivers of blood. China Signals Potential Opposition to No-Fly Zone Over Libya

US officials "are taking prudent steps to prepare for potential humanitarian contingencies," Rice told NBC television's "Today Show" program. with an estimated 200,000 refugees already overwhelming the Tunisian border humanitarian needs are right now and I would hope the assets we have sent would get to work taking care of them immediately and keep boots off the ground or it will back fire on us.

I am suspect about what role an amphibious assault ship would play in that. We must get medical supplies, food, and necessities to refugees and revolutionaries immediately and keep our military out of it or this will be turned on us. Do that then sit and watch what the revolutionaries do and keep an eye on the Gaddafi's. I just do not see any type of military action working in our favor. Help the people as they need, Communicate with them but leave the rest up to the Arab League and African Union and wait watch and listen!

Once again it all comes down to money Jim. If the world were to agree to give the oil revenues to the rebel government rather that Gaddafi then the game would be over. A simple matter of freezing his assets would put a dent in his demeanor. That is if he has foreign investments which I'm sure he does.

You bet Demeur, money and oil. That is why they are fighting over the oil fields. They think that we will side with whoever has them. I hope to hell not, we only get 2% of our oil from Libya and it pisses me off that the oil companies can lie and inflate our prices.
