Afghanistan's Karzai arrived in Washington for visit intended to ease tensions wants to talk with the Taliban. Great!

Afghanistan's Karzai arrived in Washington for visit intended to ease tensions and it will

Talking to the Taliban So called experts are calling this a terrible idea and a thorny issue between Obama and Karzai. However the so called experts know nothing and it is not. Whether up front, behind the scenes, or admitted to or not, it is on going and an idea whose time has come. I like the way things are progressing in Afghanistan of late due to President Obama's ability to realize a given situation take advice and readjust to alleviate the problem and succeed. This keeps getting better and better!

Karzai wants direct talks with Mullah Omar and I think it is a great idea. We got the cofounder of the Taliban and I would expect that if it can be arranged Mullah Omar would be willing to talk. Even if he flipped off Karzai at least we could realign our direction but that would be a mistake for Mullah Omar.

We discussed Mullah Baradar's capture when a call to Bin Laden from one of his Lieutenants requesting help was intercepted This was a serious big catch because he not only is second only to Mullah Omar and Taliban's military commander. Baradar was Mullah Omar's right hand man and his knowledge is extensive. He is one of the four men who founded the Taliban movement in Afghanistan 1994 and I am sure he knows the disposition of Bin Laden and the whereabouts of Mullah Omar. I understand he is talking and I am sure that is why we have captured and killed many more leaders. He is a childhood friend of Omar's and a long time adviser.

Just a month ago we discussed a stellar idea Helmond province mullah's in London to bridge gap and learn, it's about time!

This is big and keeps getting better and better! I was pretty pleased that Gulbuddin Hekmatyar Representatives of his major insurgent faction have presented a formal 15-point peace plan to the Afghan government of Hamid Karzai. This is the first concrete proposal to end hostilities and get us the heck out of there. Obama can do this, he is doing it.

This would not even be a thought under Bush. As we said in Iraq the Afghan's too must come together so we can leave. They can then turn on each other as I fully expect to be the case in Iraq and also in Afghanistan. Anyway representatives of Hezb-e-Islami met on Monday with representatives of the Government. This is huge as Hezb-e-Islami, or Islamic operates under a separate command from the Taliban, it has links to the Taliban leadership and Al Qaeda and has fought on a common front against foreign forces in Afghanistan.

They only want what I want and that is a withdrawal date for all foreign forces on Afghani soil. That is doable under Obama. We can really do this! They want us to start in July and have it completed in 6 months. The 6 month time frame would have to be flexible and they would have to police the still militant Taliban and keep the peace amongst themselves even if only until we leave as I expect.
Insurgent Faction Presents Afghan Peace Plan

Even the hard core Taliban will go along with this plan if we will only guarantee that we will leave. I really believe we can do this under Obama like health care it would not have happened under Bush or anyone else. Health care, Afghanistan, and the peace prize, what a heck of a trifecta, what a legacy, Obama has already secured his legacy but success in Afghanistan will make him a legend.

Talk is cheap! There is a time for talk and a time for action. Now is the time for talk and action. We are capable of doing both at the same time. After the disaster Bush created in Afghanistan under Obama this is looking much better. I believe it is now time to remain tough but let Karzai put out a feeler and try to talk to Mullah Omar. If there was ever a time it is now!

The real problem here is what to do about Pakistan? We know Al Qaeda operates in the border regions and in northern Pakistan. I'm sure the average people in that area are sick of being squeezed between us with our drone raids and Al Qaeda attacks. Unless Pakistan lets us in then I see no end to this.

You bet Demeur! You may have read them but I did a few stories on the fact that we are in Pakistan prepared to secure their nukes if necessary and Pakistan is the end game of staying in Afghanistan.
