Georgia, I.O.U.S.A. Tonights Debate between Obama and McCain with Rick Warren, and our growing Dead ocean! What the hell is next?

I was hoping events involving Russia and Georgia would slow down enough for me to discuss important happenings in the US. Things are moving so fast this is not to be. There is much to discuss today so I will give you the link to Yahoo news Russia There is so much happening so fast i implore you to take a moment and just gloss through the myriad of events and read more on the stories you are interested in!

I.O.U.S.A.: As gasoline, food and health care costs continue to rise, Americans are looking for solutions to the ever-growing financial challenges being faced today and in the future. I.O.U.S.A.: Live with Warren Buffett, Pete Peterson & Dave Walker addresses these challenges while offering solutions in a one-night-only, exclusive in-theatre event on Thursday, August 21st. Theatres across America will become community town halls as five of the nation’s most notable financial leaders and policy experts engage in a 45-minute LIVE panel discussion following the viewing of the acclaimed documentary “I.O.U.S.A.”

The critically-acclaimed “I.O.U.S.A.” documentary, directed by Patrick Creadon (“Wordplay”), follows the “Fiscal Wake-Up Tour” and tells the story of America’s four key deficits – budget, savings, balance of payments and leadership – and their implications for the nation and U.S. citizens. Americans are faced with an ever-expanding government and military, increased foreign competition, and financial obligations that will become ever more difficult to honor absent meaningful reforms. As 78 million baby boomers begin to retire and collect benefits from over-extended entitlement programs, an economic crisis of epic proportions awaits. Using candid interviews, archival footage and economic data, “I.O.U.S.A.” presents a vivid, alarming profile of America’s current financial status. The conclusion offers suggestions for how best to recreate a fiscally sound nation for future generations. Look at some clips atleast as the US is going broke

I wanted to focus on tonights Debate hosted by Rick Warren betyween Obama and McCain because Warren promised civillity and there is no way in hell McCain can be civil so I will be watching and I hope you at least take a glimpse! The Rev. Rick Warren, often called America's most influential pastor, will be hosting Sens. Barack Obama and John McCain for what's being called the civil forum on the presidency. The candidates will appear together at Warren's 20,000-member Saddleback mega-church in southern California where they each will be interviewed for an hour. we're going to look at four different segments. One is a segment on leadership. What is the personal character, competence, and experience of each of these guys. I am banking on the scum McCain screwing himself on every count

Lastly while the world is racing to worsen our living conditions exponentially with another world war we already know the declining Climatic conditions but Dead zones – areas of oxygen-depleted bottom waters – are spreading at an alarming rate in coastal waters, killing off huge amounts of marine life, a new study has found. In a paper published today in Science, Robert Diaz, a biological oceanographer at the Virginia Institute of Marine Science, and Rutger Rosenberg, a marine ecologist at Sweden’s Göteborg University, identified more than 400 dead zones worldwide, affecting an area of more than 95,000 square miles, an area roughly the size of Oregon. The number and size of these dead zones are far greater than previously estimated.

While some dead zones occur naturally, many are caused or exacerbated by chemical fertilizer runoff, fossil fuels, and rain. The fertilizer, which is rich in nitrogen compounds, is washed away from farmlands into rivers and ends up in the ocean. Burning fossil fuels produces airborne nitrogen oxides, which the rain washes into the ocean. The nitrogen compounds feed massive algae blooms. When the algae dies, it sinks to the ocean floor where it is consumed by microbes, which also consume oxygen in the process. As the oxygen is depleted, creating a condition called hypoxia, marine life that can flee does, and life that cannot – some fish but also clams, crustaceans, and other bottom dwellers – die of asphyxiation. At that point, microbes that live in oxygen-free environments begin to thrive and produce hydrogen sulfide, a poisonous gas. Most dead zones are seasonal, as the algae thrives in warm water. According to the authors, the number of these dead zones has doubled every decade since the 1960s. These findings are not just bad news for sea creatures. Growing Marine Dead Zones

* I am actually speechless but will discuss anything of importance to you and us! Take care!

Thanks for posting about IOUSA Jim, it sounds like an important documentary.

Whoa Dusty
Glad to see you around, havent seen you here in ages! IOUSA is important! I first read about it months ago. The guy put it together because he feared for his kids.
It really is overwhelming. I wanted to discuss the meeting tonight but this Bush created Russia thing he has instigated for years and it is really just getting going.
I didn't know what to talk about today because of the lie we are living and there are so many problems to discus and no one is listening! Take care!

I'm glad you bring up the state of the oceans.

Their delicate balance is being thrown off at an alarming rate. Dead zones, warming temperatures, and coral reef degradation are adding up to a catastrophe of such proportions few realize. It is truly an international crisis, requiring close monitoring and, very importantly, cooperation from all governments.

Sadly we lead by setting a pathetic and negligent example.

Dave
I did a story once on a thousand mile wide whirlpool of pollution and platic debris etc. is a giant growing vortex growing off Hawaii but I couldn't quickly find it.
You see what is happening to the Artic, our air environment, growing food wars energy wars water wars etc. But few realize that if the ocean is dead, as the largest organism on this planet? Well you know! Anyway these frigged up ass holes are right now prepering to finish it off.
Man can you imagine? We now have 5 carrier battle groups in the Gulf alone! WTF!

Jim, I know about the plastic ocean near Hawaii. It's almost as if every piece of non degradable trash in the Pacific eventually floats to the same spot.

I did a little post about the Saddleback forum tonight. You have to give Obama bravery points for even agreeing to it. That said, he did pretty well for himself.

Jimster, don't have time to read right now (what? 11:30 already??) so I'll have to return tomorrow..

I finally realized tonight (before scanning the top of your post) why Rick Warren sounded familiar..he's the nutjob who wrote that book whatchama call it..good grief..why on earth would obama do a moderated debate by that guy?? Why do the Dems think we need the nutjob Christians (vs the sane ones they are out there) votes??

anyhoo.. I'll be back tomorrow..

Hi Ingrid
Yes, Rick Warren is the Author of the Purpose Driven Life! I thought everyone had to one degree or another "a purpose driven life" I will never understand why people have to be told how to act. Stupid me I thought you were born with that instinct.
Anyway evangelicals are an influential voting group some say a majority so of course both Obama and McLiar will pander to them for votes.
I think the slimy liar McCain swayed many of them because he is pro life and Obama said he respects a womans choice as do I and I think that is the way it should be.
Hope things are cooling down in Texas Town, school is almost here. Take care!

It doesn't make sense that giant pollution whirlpool off Hawaii. I tried to find the story again and couldn't. I couldn't find my poet either.
I thought Obama did good last night but the slime McCain swayed most evangelicals when he said life begins at conception and Obama said he was pro choice.
You know, I have some Videos I may post today about Georgia from Russia, Gorbachev, and Georgia or Ossetia not sure which but I will go back over it before I post. It is all in writing and very sobering.
Anyway you said you were blocked from reaching our friend and I wasn't but the issue is addressed in that video. It says all RU addresses were blocked to control communications I am assuming from that end maybe ours too I don't know. Take care!
