As the entire world allies against Bush's Forever War he will Declare Martial Law, will a filibuster proof Congress matter?

As Bush prepares to embroil the entire middle east in the hell he created for Iraq Turkey is preparing to go into the Kurdish area in a more permanent "temporary force" as we did in Vietnam. We know how that worked out, Forget about "only a year" as Turkey thinks. It will be more or less permanent like all the rest of the still just developing horror in the middle east.
Bush's militarism has forced Putin to confront him over his missile shield and it has brought Russia together with Caspian Nations to ally against Bush. Many of the thoughts on Bush and his militarism ruining what might be right for the entire world if that was the concern instead of Bush following what is right for him were very interesting but I want to focus on something else so if you are interested please look at The Link

I have always respected the Dalai Lama and could never fathom China being so against him and little Tibet. I have the same curiosity towards Myanmar but I really have to wonder about the timing in angering China in such an in your face manner and Bush the arrogant idiot is peeved at the Democrats and their holding Turkey accountable for genocide because it might interfere with his warmongering making it more difficult but it till not stop him.

Anyway, The US president, George Bush, today denied that he had risked damaging American relations with China by attending an award ceremony for the Dalai Lama, and urged Beijing to permit religious freedom. he is but he doesn't care! China has vehemently protested over the public ceremony at which the exiled spiritual leader and 1989 Nobel peace prize laureate was awarded America's highest civilian honor, the Congressional gold medal. Read the whole story

Mr. Bush said the Dalai Lama was a "universal symbol of peace and tolerance, a shepherd of the faithful and a keeper of the flame for his people" as he handed him the award.I am really disturbed at the audacity of the underhanded, warmongering, universal symbol of war and intolerance giving the Dalai Lama his deserved award for peace and tolerance. I am sick of this picture!
That is still not my prime concern and question today. We are about to enter unchartered waters as the world unites against Bush and his new world order Forever Wars. This is not just a hope to me. I believe people are waking up and it is going to happen but It started out as such a faint hope for New York Senator Charles Schumer that he hardly dared voice it. But as more and more Republicans retire or become engulfed by scandal, it has become irresistibly imaginable: the idea that Democrats might gain a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate after the 2008 elections. "It's a very remote chance and every star would have to align correctly," Schumer, who heads the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, told TIME. "But it's way too early to make predictions."

It may not be too early, however, for Republicans to be fearing the worst. As early as July Senator Minority Leader Mitch McConnell grimly acknowledged: "When you look at our numbers, holding our own is the best we can hope for." And that was before five long-serving Senators recently announced their retirements, many of them in purple states such as Virginia and Colorado that may be difficult for the G.O.P. to defend. In a more conventional election year, the G.O.P. might actually be making a push to regain a slim majority. The Senate is currently split 49-49 with two Independents — Joe Lieberman of Connecticut and Vermont's Bernie Sanders — who caucus with the Democrats. But this cycle there are a range of factors working against them. The disappointing GOP

* The GOP's biggest problems are their corruption but Mainly Bush, his abusive powers, and his Forever Wars. Now my concern! As the world is lining up to ally against Bush, his upcoming attack on Iran, and his militaristic warmongering, many of us fully expect the idiot to cancel elections and declare Martial Law. You can help me with this but would not that make Filibuster and Congress worthless and powerless as you and I? We are in so much trouble, our future!

hey, AAP--
on one point you made, Turkey could be in for a surprise if it goes after Kurdistan. this is the only secure and quiet spot in Iraq at the moment-- but that could change in a heartbeat.
and Turkey could discover what so many nations [including the US] have discovered in the past: people who are fighting for the security of their homes and loved ones are more ferocious than any invading force can match.

as to Bush's martial law and abolishing the electoral process --I truly do fear that prospect.

I used to so blithely say, 'Why didn't the Germans just leave?'
I'm learning the error of that thought, these days:
1] I have the luxury of hindsight with the 1930s -- 1940s situation
and
2] exiling oneself from one's home isn't as easy as it sounds.
so, I feel stuck -- and scared.

Who can be sure the Congress will not continue to enable him.

Nothing has changed yet.

Deflecting a question about the recent Israeli missile strike on Syria, President Bush refused to comment on his reaction to a similar strike by Israel 26 years ago saying he doesn't "remember what I was doing in 1981."

At the time, Bush was a 34-year-old oil man living in Midland, Texas running a company he founded two years earlier after a failed bid for Congress. Bush would not become governor of Texas for more than a decade and White House ambitions were even farther in his future.

During a White House press conference Monday, NBC correspondent David Gregory asked Bush whether he supported Israel's destruction of the Osiraq nuclear reactor in Iraq.

"Ya know, Dave, I don't remember what I was doing in 1981," Bush said. "I don't remember my reaction that far back."

After parrying with the reporter for a minute, Bush declared firmly, "I'm not going to comment on the subject you're trying to get me to comment on," and he moved on to the next questioner.

Perhaps this was just another example of the president's unwillingness to address growing tensions between Syria and Israel, which destroyed what many suspect was a fledgling nuclear facility in Syria last month. But Bush's admittedly faulty memory at the time coincides with a period of overly rambunctious -- some say immature -- behavior by the president, during which he acknowledged drinking heavily.

Old friends of the president told New York Times columnist Nicholas Kristof in 2000 that Bush was a "late bloomer," who had perhaps a bit too much fun in his younger days.

"[A]s he approached 40, an age when Al Gore was already a senator running for president," Kristof observed, "George W. Bush was just a heavy-drinking, fun-loving oilman struggling to control his tempter, salvage his business and hold on to his marriage."

Bush can't remember 1981, how can he remember not to war?

Look between the lines!

President Bush warned of dire consequences if Iran acquires nuclear weapons during a press conference on Wednesday, saying that he had told world leaders the country must be prevented from achieving nuclear capability "if you're interested in avoiding World War III."

"We've got a leader in Iran who has announced that he wants to destroy Israel," Bush said, responding to Russia's stated cautioning against military action targeting Tehran's suspected atomic program.

"So I've told people that, if you're interested in avoiding World War III, it seems like you ought to be interested in preventing them from having the knowledge necessary to make a nuclear weapon," said Bush.

I'm surprised you didn't update and mention the World War III line Der Fuhrer used today.

It's definitely coming and very soon I'm afraid.

Off to la-la land now. Up early, catch ya later.

God Bless.

bush/cheney is taking us closer to the brink every single day. They need to be stopped because 15 months is too far away! That "press conference" shows the world, yet there bush is- at 24%, breaking the laws of the United States and man and IMPEACHMENT IS "OFF THE TABLE".

Actually hearing the train wreck refer to WW3 is surreal.

Hey two crows!
First I want to say don't be scared. You have family and friends and you are not alone. Albeit for different reasons but you have moved on before and you can do it again if necessary and many will have no choice.
I am going to put a story together today I think discussing just that. With so much attention being paid to the environment and the warmongering, what shape will future war take?
Driving down the coast to Florida last April I was very concerned to see the Georgia area already suffering water woes. Much of Alabama, tennessee, Florida, and other States are not much better and it is just as bad in the midwest, Texas, California, and around the world but for conflicting environmental reasons. I have written about it in the past and received great input from around the world.
Atlanta is due to run out of water in 45 days leaving 9 million without and you know they are not just going to die and go away. I have yet to hear anything from Bushco.
I have to wonder first why States like Georgia, South, and North Carolina have not invested in desalinization long ago? This problem did not occur over night!
That said, I do agree with you about Turkey and the Kurdish area and have said so but it will not even be that simple as Iran is also encroaching on the area as Turkey already is.
Any way you look at it the entire middle east is blowing thanks to Bush but watching China and Asia beginning to have water wars particularly because China is taking it because of the three Gorges dam and watching right here and around the world I have to wonder what shape this is all going to take though you know how I expect it to work out.
We can only take care of ourselves and watch this play out as we are observers not players so don't worry just relax and hold on to those like us, family, and friends, and be thankful we have each other!

You know I for one fully expect him to act and Congress will have no choice but to, with all the out of control mayhem going on.
I was curious if the entire Government mattered at all once martial law is declared. I don't think so but could use some input.

The hell with Bush's friends, he isn't a late bloomer he was dead headed long ago.
I was getting furious listening to Bush's idiocy as he refused to talk about that.
He kept saying he was busy working and raising a family. That damn loser! Daddy gave him the money for that Business and he sank it so he went into Politics.

I caught him feeding that BS too. With him declaring he will stop Iran period and Russia and Caspian Nations coming to their defense you know how this will end and we can only hold on and hope as the world wants to fight it out at a time when our weapons and technology are to powerful for man and the planet to sdurvive.

I am so sick os Bush's two faced crap. If you help him and give him what he wants he will look the other way at transgressions. If it will instigate enemies so he can further his new order he will speak up as the idiot just did with the Dalai lama.
Just watching all this unfold and the directions are entirely obvious it is sickening to be powerless and watch this unfold while they are all lying and saying they are peace lovers as they prepare for war and it will not be avoided.

Hey Anon
I know, I caught that BS. I didn't think it worth the input so I ignored it. We all know Bush is bringing it about and needs to inorder to fight and implement his new world order.
Discussing the world lining up against him yesterday to give it to him I felt we had it covered. You are right sadly. It is coming soon and it will not be avoided. Sadly it is at a time when man and the planet can no longer survive it because of the horrific weapons. Just relax and stay together with us!

Sadly it is obvious and has been for years how this is going to turn out but no one has listened and this will happen soon and will not be avoided. Sadly the world is ignoring that man and the planet can no longer survive the horrible weapons in our possesion.

hi, AAP--
like Hitler, BushCo can only operate if they're at constant war. that's how they keep us off balance while they create a dictatorship.

assuming 9/11 came from bin Ladin, it was an absolute gift.
tho' I find the thought totally repulsive, I do sometimes wonder if it DID come from bin Ladin.

but, surely they can't be THAT depraved.
can they?

as to the water crisis --
florida, one of the wettest states, is undergoing its 4th year of drought conditions.
we're allowed to water our lawns one day per week.

it's been fairly easy for our politicians to ignore since the effects began in Africa and have been building so slowly.
so, tho they had to know it was coming-- they just crossed their fingers and chanted the mantra, 'Not on my watch. Not on my watch.'

I just finished putting my story together. I was thinking of you while I was. As for 9/11 I firmly Bush allowed it to happen as it gave his all the powers he needed to follow his plan. I would love to discuss that more in depth with you.
Speaking of the water problems ! I was stunned at much of what I learned when researching the water wars going on around the world. Check out some of the stories. Don't get bummed but what the hell are we doinging creating another world war? We are in one right now!
