wikileaks emboldened the beginning of the end in Afghanistan

At 63 dead Americans July now eclipses June as the deadliest month as Afghans riot in Kabul, wikileaks emboldened the beginning of the end in Afghanistan. Obama insists on joining Afghanistan's graveyard of nations and a repeat if Saigon.

Three NATO Troops Killed in Afghanistan At 63 dead Americans July now eclipses June as the deadliest month

Afghans riot in Kabul after deadly NATO crash

Taliban Exploit Openings in NeglectedDeprived of jobs and government services, people in Baghlan Province are turning to the Taliban for speedy justice and work.

WikiLeaks 'has blood on its hands' over Afghan war logs, claim US officials But so doesn't the US!

I admit that so far what wiki leaks leaked was old news for most of us but if the US was smart they would not be downplaying the news as they are. The news is old but the message has been sent and heard if it wasn't already, do not work with the US and NATO or you will be betray and outed by wiki leaks and killed by insurgents.
Afghanistan is unwinnable period unless we declare our job well done and hand control over to Afghanistan like the Brits are and like them get out! We can then observe from a distance see what they do with it and monitor the situation with drones and reliable intelligence sources if there is such a thing.

See what they build with corrupt Karzai and the other drug lords, and the Taliban and other tribes. Any way you look at it we other fish to fry with Somalia, Yemen, and God knows where else or what is going to crop up next. Obama is backing a failed policy in a failed country as we all know. Leave India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan, to their own demise. Pakistan and Afghanistan have proven they want our money not our military help. Time to say good bye and good luck!

Events just keep getting worse and worse and what little support there was for Karzai and a so called Democracy is all but gone and riots are breaking out calling for Karzai's head. For years now I kept saying we can not listen to the so called experts and add more troops. We had to listen to Max Cleland former U.S. Senator who lost both legs and right forearm following injuries inflicted by a fellow soldier's grenade in the Vietnam War. He warned we must get out now and instead Obama ads 30,000 more troops to another lost cause.

There's war fatigue in America. It's affecting our psychology. I understand that. This is an ugly war. It's a war in which an enemy will kill innocent men, women and children in order to achieve a political objective. You have to say what side are we talking about? We always hear Afghanistan being compared to Vietnam.

listening to the radio I heard that Lyndon Johnson was told he could not win militarily for the first time in 1966. 95% of all the names on the Vietnam war "wall" memorial were put on there as a result of continuing the war after he was told he couldn't win militarily in 1966. Bush ignored Afghanistan creating a crisis situation that Obama insists on making worse. We are mirroring Vietnam and worse in every way, including in this respect. I hoped Obama would pull out now but now I see another Saigon!

Tax payers "you and I" are paying the Taliban not to kill us with our Taxes!

I just heard Main stream media discussing that our tax dollars are being used to pay off the Taliban we are fighting. I always say once they make an issue of something it is too late late. This being no exception I dug up what we discussed last November:

That really peeves me! We talk about corruption in Afghanistan and the Afghan Government. We have discussed often about corrupt President Karzai his corrupt Government, and his drug lord brother being on the CIA payroll. Now we are finding out private security is paying of the Taliban not to blow up our equipment and to not kill us.

First I want to say I guess we are not paying them enough. This is sick! Drugs and corruption seem to be Afghanistan's main industry! Think about the scope of this and the future ramifications as this so called terrorism progresses around the world. We are setting a very dangerous precedent.

I was stunned to find out if we do not pay the Taliban their bribes they blow up bridges kidnap people and generally create mayhem until they do receive their kickbacks. Also the Taliban actually keeps an office in Kabul to review major deals, determine percentages and conduct negotiations. That absolutely amazes me! Is the Taliban Getting a Cut of U.S. Aid? - World Watch - CBS News

Obama is looking at paying off the 70% of the Taliban who are not considered hard core and will switch sides for money as we have heard, They are called the $10 a day Taliban and with 15,000 of them costing $300,000 that would be a drop in the bucket compared to the 165 million per day we are paying to fight this war. Obama prepared to pay off the Taliban

We are paying off the Taliban not to kill us, the Government is totally corrupt, And they do not want to cooperate or fight for their country, no wonder Obama is stymied as to what to do next. I am not! Get us the hell out of this mess in an honorable withdrawal with heads held high. Our troops did their job, the Al Qaeda is gone! Afghani’s do not want us there, they do not want a Democracy, nor do they want a central Government.

* In closing: To top everything off trucking firms use DOD cash to pay off the Taliban, the US pays off the enemy not to attack convoys, Karzai cousins control the key routes to Kandahar, and we are now 9 years into this with no end in sight. Unless we bite the bullet and just get the hell out as our job of defeating Al Qaeda is accomplished we are going to be added to the roster in the graveyard of nations.

Pakistan gives Obama the excuse he needed to keep smaller footprint!

They do not want a large increase in troops and I have to agree with their reasoning. Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani said the United States must fully share its plans for Afghanistan with Pakistan so that it can contribute to them. He warned of our closing posts near the border and I agree we should increase our presence there.Pakistan demands US share Afghan blueprint

'US drone' targets Pakistan hideout 8 more militants killed! I understand Obama has greatly increased drone attacks. I abhor any civilian deaths or injuries but I do think the drone attacks should be increased along with use for observation. The drones are a way for us to help on the Pakistan side of the border without putting boots on the ground. I have to say, Pakistan and both sides of the border should be our priority now.

As you know, I agree with the Afghan citizens interviewed and with Pakistan that we should put Karzai to the test and concentrate our efforts on securing the Afghanistan Pakistan border to contain militants in Pakistan so Pakistan can eradicate them if possible and keep them from migrating into Afghanistan to complicate our efforts. Border security is key to the success of both Pakistan and Afghanistan and should be a prime concern and the effort of Afghan forces can be spent training up and killing the militants that are already in country!

I happen to like the new “5th option” The final option on the table, dubbed the "hybrid" option, would involve a surge of around 20,000 troops to reinforce major population areas coupled with a renewed counter-terrorist effort against al-Qaeda and Taliban targets in lawless tribal areas along the border with Pakistan.

Bingo! Exactly what we have been saying and then we should get the hell out and see if Karzai is as spineless and corrupt as some of us think before we have another Saigon and join Afghanistan’s graveyard of Nations!

The 5th option is the right option and I bet Obama will go with that and then start the slow withdrawal and see what Karzai and Afghanistan do with their opportunity, I hope they fight like Pakistan is. The letters from Ambassador Eikenberry set this in motion and I am psyched! Pay attention to Biden, pay attention to Max Cleland!

Adding more troops will only embolden the Taliban, make them happy, and make things much worse for us! Karzai better quickly get things together and cooperate, the writing is on the wall.

We keep saying we better learn from Vietnam or we are going to have another Saigon! Get the hell out of there. We have lost enough good soldiers fighting for Karzai’s corrupt Government! Obama wants to hear the advice to down size and withdraw and he has it! He has an exit strategy and I can’t wait to hear it

Obama Honor all our troops not just the dead at Fort Hood and listen to Gorbachev!

Obama decision on Afghanistan troops 'in days'

I have been listening to irresponsible rumors the last few days as news channels competed to be the first to declare what President Obama will decide on as to adding or even subtracting troops from Afghanistan.

I first heard he decided to send 34,000 then that he was going to add the 40,000 recommended by General McChrystal. I was very disturbed thinking he did not wait to hear the provincial assessments and what the Afghan leaders need and want.

I was relieved to find out Obama has not decided what he is going to do yet. The ceremony at Fort Hood to Honor the 14 massacred and 30 wounded by what they thought was one of their own it is a somber backdrop that will influence Obama’s decision.

I finally heard Obama will decide in 2 weeks after here hears assessments From American Commanders on the ground in every province in Afghanistan. I pray Obama will not see fit to add the 40,000 troops General McChrystal recommended but will listen to Mikhail Gorbachev as he knows first hand if we do not we will join the graveyard of Nations in Afghanistan too.

Gorbachev rightly recommends that Obama start to withdraw troops, the slow good bye I keep recommending! I firmly hope Obama does not see fit to add 40,000 more troops to what the Taliban believe is the end of day’s battle field. I sent you the link many times to the Taliban get their first wish so Google it if you want but they will be tickled pink if we add more troops for them to kill.

President Obama could add a million more troops and it would not matter. There is no shortage of volunteer wanting to martyr to get the infidels out of Afghanistan. President Obama should the 13 murdered and 30 wounded at Fort Hood along with all our troops.

President Obama should weigh what his chiefs of staff, General McChrystal, VP Biden, General McChrystal, Max Cleland and most of all Mikhail Gorbachev and then as Commander in Chief do the right thing.

Train up the Afghan army and leave, our troops did their job and exemplary. Honor them by letting them pull out with their heads held high. Fed and supply the Afghani’s. Karzai said he will fight the corruption, unite Afghanistan, and defeat the Taliban. So be it, see you later!

In Afghanistan It is time for the slow good bye or we will have another quick get riddance!

Abdullah's pullout sows new concerns for Obama in Afghanistan, now what? Abdullah as you know by now will not partake in the runoff election.I heard him tell the people not come out and vote in the fraudulent elections then ha said he would not boycott them. Isn't that one and the same? With none of Abdullah's demands for fair an open met this will or could turn into a one man race. I do not understand. If Karzai honestly believed he is the peoples choice he would insure that the election was rig proof.. Seems obvious to me but there are those who say Abdullah knows he will lose. Yeah because he knows thief election too will be a fraud.

Abdullah's decision not to run is final as he is fed up with the lack of transparency and control. He demanded that the so called officials who "surprise" are Karzai people, be fired. Of course they were not and all his requests for a fair election have been ignored so he backed out. I can't say I blame him but now what? Abdullah pullout from Afghan runoff sows new doubt over legitimacy

Human costs, dollars, the monstrous US, NATO, commitment, What are the implications? What does this mean to Afghanistan? What does it mean to Obama's decision of whether or not to add troops? Does Abdullah think about that? He has of late spoken to Britain's Gordon Brown, Hillary, Kerry and even Obama. He knows how critical a a certified election is to the future of Afghan and maybe most importantly to us and Obama.ANALYSIS - us looks to work with, and around, Karzai

Like you I believe Abdullah is right saying the runoff will be as corrupt as the first election with Karzai insisting on no real oversight and the refusal to replace the corrupt voting officials but what now? I do not know what to think about this but Hillary said the election will still be legitimate because Abdullah did not object before when the runoff was agreed to by Karzai.

Sounds to me like that is merely an excuse for legitimacy so we can move forward. Supposedly it will not affect Obama's decision but it better! Think about this: We know that some one million fraudulent votes were thrown out the first time. If true as we believe then 1 million votes would have to be fraudulent this time or the truth as to who really should have been elected would be glaring. Hmm!

The Taliban have already boycotted the elections. Abdullah said no one will get in the way of our Democracy. He said he is not boycotting the election but that is exactly what he is doing. He said no one will get in the way of our free and Democratic election but what does he call his actions? At this point both Abdullah and Karzai have negated any such thing as free and democratic elections. After he announced he will not participate in the runoff who knows what will happen next.

Abdullah: Afghanistan will survive that I am sure! My question: Yeah but in what form? Total chaos? I would be lying if I said I cared because they do not and I do not. We should get the heck out! Thanks to Bush whose lack of concern for our troops and Afghanistan displayed by abandoning them so he could attack Iraq he created in Afghanistan Obama's Vietnam. What to do now?

What we should do after the people get their central Government if that is what they want and not what Karzai wants is go home: I reiterate that Our soldiers did their job send them home. Unless their job is to create as many enemies as possible which is all they are doing in Afghanistan get them out. Getting rid of Al Qaeda and eliminating their Afghan safe haven was supposed to be the goal not building a puppet Government like in Vietnam.

Think! Do it the right way! Refocus the mission! After 8 years of mismanagement under Bush it is right that Obama take time think and listen to good advice not war mongering Republicans. Listen to Max Cleland who has learned the lessons of Vietnam the hard way. Listen to Biden! Listen to McCain, then think about it and do the right thing.

They may be now but the Taliban was not the enemy Al Qaeda was and is they attacked us not the Taliban. We keep hearing the Taliban are resurging. Who the hell cares as long as they stay in Afghanistan. THEY ARE NOT THE ENEMY! At least they weren't! Or is the friggen goal to see how many Muslim's we can get to fight us? Get out and Monitor them with drones.

Work on Al Qaeda around the world! Afghanistan and the Taliban as I said were not the enemy though they may be now! Karzai is using us so he can steal Afghanistan for him and his brother! We do not need a hundred years ground war unless keeping our military and a war going in Afghanistan is how they plan on saving and driving our economy! I have faith whatever he decides, Obama will do the right thing no matter how unpalatable it may be! When all is said and done it is time for the slow good bye!

Abdullah wants to see Afghanistan move forward but how do they? He was asked what Obama should do and he said we should be increasingly involved. BS! All I heard from him was a lot of gobbledygook wishy washy say nothing babbling and running around the subject. Bush did not but Obama better have learned from Vietnam in that escalating in a country whose fraudulent Government the people do not support or want. It is time for the slow good bye or we will have another quick get riddance!

Obama says no extra troops until Karzai proves election was credible! Q & A: Afghanistan elections, what's next?

I must admit I am stunned that Republicans are insisting the additional 40,000 troops that General McChrystal wants and now despite the fact that their is no Government in Afghanistan. Afghanistan's Electoral complaint's commission has thrown out thousands of fraudulent votes cast for Karzai! Karzai's representatives have indicated that they might not accept the ECC ruling which has sparked a flurry of diplomatic activity to avoid a protracted political crisis. Election Audit Said to Show Karzai Has 48 Percent

This will embolden the enemy but what are we going to do? Once again we are between a rock and a hard place. I am not convinced that adding thousands of more troops would do anything but get them killed because the people do not back Karzai and are indifferent to the Taliban. The IEC (independent election committee) is seen as not likely to accept the ECC findings as they are seen as corrupt and favor Karzai! Hamid Karzai 'stripped of outright win' after fraud inquiry

Abdullah Abdullah will entertain a power sharing deal with Karzai but first he has to accept Afghanistan's Electoral complaint's commission findings and he will not. We can not keep our troops in the middle of this mess to be killed for what? Afghanistan has never had a central Government and we can not enforce one especially a corrupt one the people do not want! what are the options? Q & A: Afghanistan elections, what's next?

I heard this morning that with 1/3 of Karzai's votes rejected as fraudulent he is now prepared to admit he won the election out right! What does this mean? Runoff election? Power sharing? When? Remember no accepted Government no new troops regardless of the mission! This is critical! We can not put our troops in the middle of this fraud of a Government, death, violence, corruption and volatility forever! Time to step up now! Karzai's brother is a drug lord and was found rigging ballots. Why would we think a new vote would bring new results? I just see increased violence and corruption in this battle between truth and fraud to control Afghanistan!

Staying in Afghanistan I understand has only brought a threat from the Taliban to attack us in the US once they get us out of Afghanistan.

The alternative to getting out now is adding more troops and staying there in the forever war Bush set up. They said we have two options making the issue black and white, right or wrong, which only highlights the politicization of the issue. Our choices are not All in or Withdraw. Making this an issue of doing it the Republican way or the Democrat way is the problem. Think! Do it the right way!

Refocus the mission! After 8 years of mismanagement under Bush it is right that Obama take time think and listen to good advice not war mongering Republicans. McChrystal is out to accomplish the wrong goal!

It's about damn time as Obama says Taliban can be involved in Afghanistan's future. Now I can see victory!

First by now everyone knows Obama won the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize and I think that is fantastic not because of his accomplishments but because of his efforts to unite the world. It is a bit ironic for the President of a country fighting two wars to win the peace prize. However if he can bring peace to the middle east and bring Afghanistan to a successful conclusion. This award will be a fitting tribute and a message to the entire world to cooperate with Obama. This is big! A peace prize for hope not accomplishments man are we desperate!

The Taliban have proven to be very politically astute. They are protecting the citizen's whenever possible and making it known to the Americans that they will no longer cooperate with Al-Qaida or provide them safe haven. Next step will be if they would guarantee to route out Al Qaeda then we can go home or more aptly concentrate on helping Pakistan who has been increasingly successful in routing out Al Qaeda and the Taliban. I can now see success where I only saw failure because Bush turned his back on Afghanistan for 8 years! Max Cleland recounts Vietnam compares Afghanistan

I am finally hearing the right advice and it looks like Obama is going to take it. The Republicans of course want a surge with 40,000 more troops sent to be killed. Obama may send a few thousand more but it looks like he is listening to the likes of VP Biden and max Cleland. It is about time we have a President capable of thought! It is about friggen time! On the video they recognize that the Taliban is an indigenous part of Afghan society and will not be defeated. About damn time!

The Taliban is not the enemy Al Qaeda is. They are the ones that attacked us and they have essentially been routed! Obama has this right!
It is about time we have a President that knows how to listen to good advice and is capable of thought. Obama is right to ignore Republicans demanding that he listen to McChrystal and immediately send an additional 40,000 troops to their death. You could add a million troops and it would do nothing but draw more martyrs to the Taliban cause!

Obama will add some troops for now but is listening to the likes of Max Cleland and Joe Biden. At this critical time Biden has become increasingly vocal on what to do in Afghanistan. I agree with him that there should be no more troops and drones should be used to go after Al Qaeda in Afghanistan and in Pakistan. Leave the Taliban alone they are part of Afghanistan. Barack Obama: Taliban can be involved in Afghanistan future

Biden is disenchanted with Karzai's misleadership and corruptitude as we all are! Cleland is also right! More troops will only be more for the Taliban to kill. McChrystal would be right if the Taliban was our enemy but they are not so he and Republicans are wrong. The Taliban have said they will keep out Al Qaeda so we should concentrate on the border and help Pakistan against Al Qaeda. They are the enemy. They attacked us not the Taliban.

In Afghanistan we have another Vietnam only because Bush created it by diverting to Iraq to make a new middle east (dis)order! Cleland says get out now and he is right! Why does Obama insist on sending even one more troop to their grave? Is it because he knows if he pulls out he will be killed? Afghanistan is another Vietnam and we have duplicated every mistake including installing a puppet Government. We must get out now! I know Obama has been President for less than a year but to me he has yet to do anything right or get anything done. Victory in Afghanistan will make everything right and I can now see that happening! No Government in Kabul and the people are indifferent that tells me it is Taliban deal time!
