The Taliban needs to feel more pain before we can get real cooperation
Taliban Need 'More Pain' to Force Talks, US Envoy Says: Peace negotiations with the Taliban are unlikely to bear results until additional military pressure is brought on the insurgents, the new American ambassador to Kabul said, playing down talk of progress in efforts to end the 10-year-old war. Afghan President Hamid Karzai, center, shakes hand with the new U.S. ambassador to Afghanistan Ryan Crocker in July 2011. "The Taliban needs to feel more pain before you get to a real readiness to reconcile,"
More pain? Then give it to them! Since June more than 135 militants have been killed in the South and North Waziristan lawless areas used by Islamists as a staging area to kill American and NATO forces in Afghanistan along with numerous natives.
The Taliban think they are getting away with something but they are being watched closely by JSOC ready to pounce and take them out when given the command. I say give it now and and inflict more serious pain than the severe pain they have felt of late.
Pakistani forces advance in Taliban stronghold:
Pakistani security forces backed by gunships and fighter jets have advanced on the Taliban stronghold in a tribal region and consolidated positions, military sources said. Hundreds of Pakistani regular and border troops are attacking hideouts of militants in Kurram tribal region to eliminate and expel them, they said."Taliban militants did not show any resistance," a military officer said.
Dozens killed in Afghan fighting:
Afghanistan: Dozens dead after Taliban raid in Nuristan. Provincial Governor Jamaludin Badar told the BBC that 33 border police had been killed in two days of clashes. He said 40 insurgents and five civilians had also died after more than 150 heavily armed insurgents attacked from bases in Chitral in Pakistan.
This is really looking good. Since Obama was elected we have been killing many high and mid level leaders and numerous Taliban fighter. It is looking good and it is looking doable but? I invite you to read this and think about it all!
Obama's General "now General McRaven has the job" but McChrystal was Cheney's chief assassin If nothing else give this a quick read it is mind blowing!
This is a long held plan: The plan is a detailed plan to secure Pakistan's Soviet style mobile nuclear force if it appears they are in danger of falling into the hands of Al Qaeda, the Taliban, or any other "perceived" militants. Key word perceived! American intelligence sources say the operation would be conducted by Joint Special Operations Command, the super-secret commando unit headquartered at Fort Bragg, N.C.
The Taliban think they are getting away with something but they are being watched closely by JSOC ready to pounce and take them out when given the command. I say give it now and save lives. At least for me until a year ago JSOC and what they are doing in Pakistan and Afghanistan had not been divulged. I do not know if it is wise or not but Obama had let this out of the bag too. JSOC is the military's chief terrorists hunting squad and has units now operating in Afghanistan on Pakistan's western border.
A secondary mission is to secure foreign nuclear arsenals. As you know the mission has taken on added importance in recent months, as Islamic extremists have taken territory close to the capital of Islamabad and could destabilize Pakistan's shaky democracy. Pakistan appears to be holding off the Taliban threat thus the threat of the US too feel the need to act on defending their Nukes.
Just in case the US Has Plan to Secure Pakistan Nukes if Country Falls to the Taliban
Because of our secret plans to grab and secure Pakistan's mobile nuclear weapons I long ago came to the conclusion that securing them and the plan along the Afghanistan Pakistan Border to take out the Taliban when given the go ahead is the reason we are hanging around in Afghanistan. That is more than enough reason. Just imagine the peril of the world if Pakistan's nukes fell into the hands of the Taliban and other extremists. The entire world better come together and realize their very being is under threat here and they all must come together and do their share.
While we are decimating the Taliban we are hearing that Al Qaeda is resurging. This is an endless trap and we will be there for decades at a minimum unless we join the graveyard of Nations first. Our troops served magnificently. I just do not know the answer any more because we are looking at the Gulf of Aden opening up right now as the next so called front in the was on terror in this forever war and this is barely beginning. WTF?
Bottom line the Taliban are indigenous to Afghanistan and will not be eradicated so efforts in bringing them pain should be concentrated solely in accomplishing US and western goals at least until we can get out of there. If they want to rule the country after that I say fine have fun.

Bad day(s) and bad times for the Taliban in Pakistan and Afghanistan:
Pakistan's Army Extends Offensive Against Taliban Near Afghanistan Border:
Troops moved into the mountains of Kurram Agency, a tribal district that Taliban factions have used as a base, according to Major General Athar Abbas yesterday. Thousands of troops were involved, some flown in by helicopter. Taking control of central areas of Kurram may enable the army to block the last major escape route for militants based in North Waziristan, the country’s biggest remaining guerrilla stronghold where the U.S. has pressed Pakistan to conduct a ground offensive

Three suspected US missile strikes in north-western Pakistan
In less than 12 hours have killed at least 38 alleged militants, an unusually heavy barrage at a time when relations between the two countries are badly strained, Pakistani intelligence officials said. The strikes follow the Obama administration's announcement that it is suspending more than one-third of US military aid to Pakistan until disagreements are worked out. The attacks indicate the White House has no intention of stopping the unmanned drone program, even though the attacks have increasingly caused tension with Pakistan.

At least 45 suspected militants were killed by missiles launched by U.S. drone aircraft in Pakistan's northwest, local intelligence officials said on Tuesday, one of the largest death tolls to date in the controversial air bombing campaign.

Karzai warned NATO that Afghans will be forced to take unilateral action: Please kick us out
NATO: Arrests made in deadly north Afghan: NATO and Afghan forces captured a man they believe took part in a bomb attack that killed two prominent Afghan police officials and wounded the German general who commands troops in northern Afghanistan, the coalition said Wednesday. A night raid Monday carried out by Afghan forces under NATO led to the arrest
Karzai Warns NATO Against Air Attacks on Afghan Homes: President Hamid Karzai warned NATO on Tuesday that Afghans will no longer tolerate air strikes that result in civilian casualties. If they continue, he said, “we will be forced to take unilateral action in this regard.” Please do us a favor and kick us out. We can go home and monitor Afghanistan with drones taking out targets as necessary as we should have done in the first place. We could have saved thousands of lives and trillions of dollars. Please send us home where we should be!
I think we should give Karzai what he wants and stop night raids under a precondition. Asking us to stop drone attacks and now to stop night attacks and attacks on homes where the Taliban are hiding behind civilians is asking us to fail. Fine, we are not wanted there and are in the wrong country anyway. We should pull out of the cities and see what Karzai can do for a start or should I say the beginning of the end for him.
While we are at it we should stop giving the master of corruption the Billion dollars a day we are giving him and see how he does with his drug money. I have not heard anything about the pullout that was supposed to start this month and culminate in 2014. Give Karzai what he wants, give the Taliban what they want and speed the pullout up. That will work for me if they would cooperate and stop raising hell until we lift and then blow open Afghanistan as will be the case whether we stay or leave.
Our soldiers did their jobs there meritoriously! Get them out now with their heads held high instead of hung low for joining unnecessarily Afghanistan's graveyard of nations. We are kind of stuck but we should give Karzai supplies to feed and arm his fighting forces otherwise let him use his families drug money, we should make a quicker exit by leaving most of our trucks and supplies behind but hell the Taliban will get them as well as the country anyway.
We are stuck between a rock and a hard place and it was unnecessary. We could have used drones exclusively and stayed out of Afghanistan in the first place. We are on the Pakistan Afghanistan border right where the Taliban want us, give a quick look at "the Taliban get their first wish We have due to our arrogance and ignorance I would have to assume walked or should I say flew right into their trap at this point I am not sure we have a realistic choice..
Many Muslims believe that ancient Khorasan which covers parts of modern-day Afghanistan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Iran, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan is the promised land from where they will secure the first victory in the end-of-time battle in which the final round, according to their beliefs, will be fought in Palestine-Lebanon-Syria. They are not desperate they are giddy this is finally under way!

Taliban's chilling threat: We will not target your nukes we are going to take over your nuclear weapons and use them. OMG think of that world and unite!
There can be no refuge, they must be hunted down on both sides of the border like the dogs they are and killed or the entire world will pay the price.
At least 70 killed in 2-day battle on border of Pakistan, Afghanistan
Gilani's olive branch to militants
over a year and a half ago now Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari removed himself from the nuclear chain of command, transferring his authority to the prime minister.
This is almost 5 years ago but be on the alert, JSOC and Blackwater are there killing Taliban, running the drone program, and authorized to secure the nukes if they think they are endangered by the Taliban. They include JSOC as well as many Blackwater now XE employees under General McRaven
I talk about it often that I knew we had a force in place in Pakistan to secure their nukes if we think they are in danger of falling into extremists hands. I do not think I knew that General McChrystal was in charge of that force or that he was in charge of Cheney's assassin squads. I did know he was the head of the Delta force but never thought about their clandestine activities. I invite you to read this and think about it all! Obama's pick to lead military operations in Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan and the Middle East says it is fun to kill, okay?
Controversial US general to head Central Command
Mattis: 'It's fun to shoot people'
President Obama's pick to lead military operations in Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan and the Middle East is an experienced ground combat commander, but also earned a stern rebuke in 2005 for controversial comments about combat operations. With all the wars going on around the world he speaks his mind which is not always savory but he is the right man for the job.
Blunt General Appointed to Lead Forces in Mideast
I don't want to sound like a masochist or a right wing war mongering baby killer but it sounds to me like President Obama has picked the right man for the job. He was disciplined 5 years ago when he spoke the truth saying it was sometimes fun to kill those that harm and kill others. I believe he has since learned something I learned as a little kid and have said here often and that is engage brain before opening mouth!
Mattis would replace Army Gen. David H. Petraeus, who is in Afghanistan as the U.S. and NATO's top military officer there having taken over for McCrhystal after his ill fated interview where he and his staff openly mocked Obama and his war staff. I think Obama picked the right man for the job. I was pretty proud of the men he led in the battle of Fallujah in Iraq in 2004. In reclaiming that city I had a friend who won a silver star reclaiming bobby trapped houses and areas.
With his new job General Mattis would technically be in control of General Patraeus too. Patraeus got much of the credit for Afghanistan and what was done in Iraq but General Mattis was the man advising him. With the Pentagon now examining its media relations in the wake of the Rolling Stone article that ended McChrystal's career Gates has in Mattis the right man for the job, a general not known for cozy relations with reporters. Still, he values good press and pulls no punches, a quality I admire and remember from another great General.
As he was poised to cross into Iraq in 2003 with embedded reporters in tow, he quoted the Greek poet Pindar: "Unsung, the noblest deed will die." Sound familiar? Remember General Patton who was well known for his love of battle and quotes? 37 memorable quotes and quotations from General Patton

General McChrystal Goes on vacation Patrol I mean patrol in 'Taliban Vacation Spot'
Exclusive: Gen. McChrystal Goes on Patrol in 'Taliban Vacation Spot'
Pakistani Troops Kill 84 Taliban Fighters
Remember Afghan militants present doable 15-point peace plan to the Afghan ...
Don't get too ecstatic but it just keeps getting better! It is working in Pakistan and it can work in Afghanistan too. This just keeps getting better. We discussed it many times in the past. Remember the militants world started crumbling with the capture of Mullah Baradar
When all is said and done I remember when it came out that Karzai was corrupt and he won the election. The people’s attitude was oh well, one corrupt Government is as good as the next .At least the Government is not killing and maiming the people in the name of Sharia law. The government might be corrupt but it is better than the alternative.
This is big and keeps getting better and better! I am pretty pleased that Gulbuddin Hekmatyar Representatives of his major insurgent faction have presented a formal 15-point peace plan to the Afghan government of Hamid Karzai. This is the first concrete proposal to end hostilities and get us the heck out of there. Obama can do this, he is doing it.
This would not even be a thought under Bush. As we said in Iraq the Afghan's too must come together so we can leave. They can then turn on each other as I fully expect to be the case in Iraq and also in Afghanistan. Anyway representatives of Hezb-e-Islami met on Monday with representatives of the Government. This is huge as Hezb-e-Islami, or Islamic operates under a separate command from the Taliban, it has links to the Taliban leadership and Al Qaeda and has fought on a common front against foreign forces in Afghanistan.
They only want what I want and that is a withdrawal date for all foreign forces on Afghani soil. That is doable under Obama. We can really do this! They want us to start in July and have it completed in 6 months. The 6 month time frame would have to be flexible and they would have to police the still militant Taliban and keep the peace amongst themselves even if only until we leave as I expect.
Insurgent Faction Presents Afghan Peace Plan
Even the hard core Taliban will go along with this plan if we will only guarantee that we will leave. I really believe we can do this under Obama like health care it would not have happened under Bush or anyone else. Health care, Afghanistan, and the peace prize, what a heck of a trifecta, what a legacy, Obama has already secured his legacy but success in Afghanistan will make him a legend.

Obama Honor all our troops not just the dead at Fort Hood and listen to Gorbachev!

Obama decision on Afghanistan troops 'in days'
I have been listening to irresponsible rumors the last few days as news channels competed to be the first to declare what President Obama will decide on as to adding or even subtracting troops from Afghanistan.
I first heard he decided to send 34,000 then that he was going to add the 40,000 recommended by General McChrystal. I was very disturbed thinking he did not wait to hear the provincial assessments and what the Afghan leaders need and want.
I was relieved to find out Obama has not decided what he is going to do yet. The ceremony at Fort Hood to Honor the 14 massacred and 30 wounded by what they thought was one of their own it is a somber backdrop that will influence Obama’s decision.
I finally heard Obama will decide in 2 weeks after here hears assessments From American Commanders on the ground in every province in Afghanistan. I pray Obama will not see fit to add the 40,000 troops General McChrystal recommended but will listen to Mikhail Gorbachev as he knows first hand if we do not we will join the graveyard of Nations in Afghanistan too.
Gorbachev rightly recommends that Obama start to withdraw troops, the slow good bye I keep recommending! I firmly hope Obama does not see fit to add 40,000 more troops to what the Taliban believe is the end of day’s battle field. I sent you the link many times to the Taliban get their first wish so Google it if you want but they will be tickled pink if we add more troops for them to kill.
President Obama could add a million more troops and it would not matter. There is no shortage of volunteer wanting to martyr to get the infidels out of Afghanistan. President Obama should the 13 murdered and 30 wounded at Fort Hood along with all our troops.
President Obama should weigh what his chiefs of staff, General McChrystal, VP Biden, General McChrystal, Max Cleland and most of all Mikhail Gorbachev and then as Commander in Chief do the right thing.
Train up the Afghan army and leave, our troops did their job and exemplary. Honor them by letting them pull out with their heads held high. Fed and supply the Afghani’s. Karzai said he will fight the corruption, unite Afghanistan, and defeat the Taliban. So be it, see you later!

Abdullah rejects power sharing and may Boycott reelection creating crisis Republicans want our troops rushed into. Think! ...

Officials say Karzai rival may choose to boycott runoff
Afghan President, Main Rival Reject Power Sharing
Republicans: Clock Is Ticking on Afghanistan Troop Decision
I ask again, this is what Republicans want us to rush into? The troops that are there will not be abandoned and until the right decision as to what to do next is decided they will take care of business! A reiteration and then my synopsis:
Combatants should not be added with the goal of hunting Al Qaeda. They, Mullah Omar, and Bin Laden are in Pakistan. Our combatants should largely be on the border after we hopefully secure some semblance of a fair election. Then I reiterate Karzai's brother is a drug lord and was found rigging ballots. Why would we think a new vote would bring new results? I just see increased violence and corruption in this battle between truth and fraud to control Afghanistan!
What we should do after the people get their central Government if that is what they want and not what Karzai wants is go home: I reiterate that Our soldiers did their job send them home. Unless their job is to create as many enemies as possible which is all they are doing in Afghanistan get them out. Getting rid of Al Qaeda and eliminating their Afghan safe haven was supposed to be the goal not building a puppet Government like in Vietnam.
Think! Do it the right way! Refocus the mission! After 8 years of mismanagement under Bush it is right that Obama take time think and listen to good advice not war mongering Republicans. Listen to Max Cleland who has learned the lessons of Vietnam the hard way. Listen to Biden! Listen to McCain, then think about it and do the right thing.
They may be now but the Taliban was not the enemy Al Qaeda was and is they attacked us not the Taliban. We keep hearing the Taliban are resurging. Who the hell cares as long as they stay in Afghanistan. THEY ARE NOT THE ENEMY! At least they weren't! Or is the friggen goal to see how many Muslim's we can get to fight us? Get out and Monitor them with drones.
Work on Al Qaeda around the world! Afghanistan and the Taliban as I said were not the enemy though they may be now! Karzai is using us so he can steal Afghanistan for him and his brother! We do not need a hundred years ground war unless keeping our military and a war going in Afghanistan is how they plan on saving and driving our economy! I have faith whatever he decides, Obama will do the right thing no matter how unpalatable it may be!
* This stupefies me! Russ Feingold and others and others in Congress are already prepared to stop Obama if he takes McChrystal's advice and goes with a troop increase. There should be a troop increase but it has to be hybridized to insure success! Success must be redefined as Any Government elected by the people with the proven ability to unify and fight for the average Afghan! We should then go home. Feingold should not fight a troop increase cart blanch. If the job can be done with the troops at hand fine.
There has to be a reeducation of Afghan defense forces and all the people. Teach them to stand up! Give them the equipment. Let them show us they want to and can do this! We can stand down and concentrate on helping Pakistan and Afghanistan on the border. If the Afghan army is ready to stand up take control and fight we can do this! However I have my doubts that they and the people want to do it!

NATO endorses McChrystal plan, this does not pressure Obama it frees him up to follow Clelands plan and ignore Cheney!
US military families comment on Afghan war
US Lawmakers Hear Diverse Opinions on Afghanistan
NATO Defense Ministers Endorse Wider Afghan Effort
Karzai says wants "better" Afghan election run-off
Thanks to Cheney and Bush adding only 6,000 troops to combat the Taliban in Afghanistan and adding over 100,000 to fight their created unnecessary war in Iraq so they could get into the middle east to create what they thought would be a new middle east order Obama has to now clean up another of their created crises. Cheney should shut up and will not so he must be ignored. Watch the video on the US military families comments, listen to them and Max Cleland.
Obama has enough advice he does not need the advice of a deferment king who did not serve his country in combat but avoided it at all costs! He created the war in Afghanistan and used Bush to prosecute it. Did you ever read his plans? A clean Break
Cheney and Bush created this crisis and it is now Obama's to fix and fix it he will but not the way Cheney and others think. He will do as I would do! Listen to all advice chew it swallow it and regurgitate it as the right thing! I am glad NATO thinks McChrystal is right and they are ready to add more troops. I agree that they are right that training Afghani's and securing the citizen's should be the goal and the primary goal.
That said, combatants should not be added with the goal of hunting Al Qaeda.

We can not listen to McChrystal the Afghanistan mission was against Al Qaeda not to take on Islam!

We keep hearing McChrystal is supposed to be the most qualified of Generals making counterinsurgency his career including heading Cheney's assassin squad and his advice should be adhered to.
With that said he should be ignored and reeducated as to what the mission is. Up to now no one has done it but Obama might if he listens to Biden and Cleland. We have got to change course in Afghanistan so we can concentrate on Al Qaeda around the world.
Our soldiers did their job send them home. Unless their job is to create as many enemies as possible which is all they are doing in Afghanistan get them out.
Getting rid of Al Qaeda and eliminating their Afghan safe haven was supposed to be the goal not building a puppet Government like in Vietnam. Staying in Afghanistan I understand has only brought a threat from the Taliban to attack us in the US once they get us out of Afghanistan.
Afghanistan belongs to the Taliban and they said they would keep Al Qaeda out, sounds like all the win we are going to get let's go home with our heads up. We are only making more enemies. If the goal is to take on Islam we are headed towards success.
The alternative to getting out now is adding more troops and staying there in the forever war Bush set up. Maybe with our failing economy the idea is to keep us going on a permanent war economy? What do you think? In regards to what to do in Afghanistan I was listening to an interview by Christiane Amanpour of Defense Secretary Robert Gates and our other so called expert on what to do in Afghanistan, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
They said we have two options making the issue black and white, right or wrong, which only highlights the politicization of the issue. Our choices are not All in or Withdraw. Making this an issue of doing it the Republican way or the Democrat way is the problem. Think! Do it the right way!
Refocus the mission! After 8 years of mismanagement under Bush it is right that Obama take time think and listen to good advice not war mongering Republicans. McChrystal is out to accomplish the wrong goal! Listen to Max Cleland who has learned the lessons of Vietnam the hard way. Listen to Biden! Listen to McCain, then think about it and do the right thing.

Who the hell cares if Afghanistan is a safe haven for the Taliban it is their country. As long as they keep out Al Qaeda leave them alone if possible and monitor them!
