Gaddafi has us right where he wants us, now what?

Libyan forces loyal to Col. Muammar el-Qaddafi have been firing into residential neighborhoods in Misurata with cluster bombs a weapon that has been banned by much of the world, witnesses say.

Barack Obama has said the "noose is tightening" on Colonel Gaddafi but the US will not increase its military role in Libya. Yeah right! He's riding around laughing at NATO and killing civilians with cluster bombs. Get real, this guy and his family are going nowhere unless we get involved on the ground and if we do it will be hell!

Another Western ultimatum for Gaddafi

Female snipers suspected of belonging to the Marxist guerilla group FARC from Colombia, have joined other mercenaries fighting to keep dictator Muammar Gaddafi in power, according to the reports received by Libyan rebels.

Libya's 'Claudia Schiffer' Defends Gadhafi -- Because He's Her Dad "We are a people that cannot be defeated," she said, pumping her fists in her family's trademark gesture of defiance. Her father did the same thing Thursday while being driven through Tripoli's streets in a bizarre parade procession, with the dictator popping up out of the sunroof of an SUV and waving to supporters.

Nato and Libya: What now?

Gaddafi has us right where he wants us: US planes still bombing Libya: Pentagon I should have known. Not that I disagree with it but as usual we worked it so we appeased the dove crowd and finagled it to please the hawks by putting the planes under NATO. I also think it is good that Gaddafi knows we are still over his head. I know they respect and fear the US more than the rest of NATO.

I reiterate: Rebels are selling their oil now,let them use the oil money. Secure more areas, more money for more sounds like motivation for the rebels to fight and retain, not to expect us to do it. Sounds like a win win to me.

Nothing has changed and it will not unless thy whoever they are start hitting Tripoli the heart of the problem, the AU gets serious about getting rid of their benefactor Gaddafi, the Arabs get more involved, and the French get involved on the ground if they care so much because Britain won't do it and we can not.

We are looking at arming these rebels who turn around and run at the drop of a hat it seems. What is the guarantee that they are going to stand their ground and fight for their lives? They seem more like cry babies blaming everything on NATO and the west. They want us to do their fighting for them. They know the ruthless killer that is Gaddafi, they should have known he would not step down and they would have to fight to the death as he slaughtered their people.

We can't do this again. So far I am on Obama's side, I think he, NATO, the Arabian's and the AU have done the right thing. They did not wait during a year of slaughter as Clinton did in the Balkans, Obama did not go full bore and unilaterally as Bush did. It is already obvious that the no fly zone is a failure without the US running it. We can not get dragged into this further. We must get out now and the rebels must fight the good fight or die. We can not do this for them and Gaddafi is never going to step aside nor will his sons give up what they think is theirs.

Any way you look at it Kaddafi is no Mubarak and Egypt's army is not the army of blood thirsty mercenaries Kaddafi's Billions buys. They aren't going to be able to take out Gaddafi. He is going to keep slaughtering the "rats" The no fly zone stopped working when we handed it to the Brits and French though they seem to be doing better now the Bgabgo is capture and they can focus on Libya though I understand Gaddafi's forces are still flying and killing rebels.

I just see no way in hell that Moamar, Saif, any of the Gaddafi men, or his daughter for that matter are going to go anywhere. I believe we screwed up again unless France takes control on the ground. We can't do it and we are getting dragged into it!

I am all for dropping a MOAB (mother of all bombs) or a 30,000 pound bunker buster designed to dig 7 or 8 levels underground before exploding right in the middle of Gaddafi's 4 acre compound. I was just listening to Gaddafi's bitchy daughter speaking in Tripoli and Gaddafi hiding in a car while Loyalist planes circled overhead. What the heck is that in a supposed no fly zone? We are going to end up doing this ourselves I am afraid and what about Russia and China?

You're darn right they don't want Gadaffy gone. How else can they sell more arms to the rebels? This is all becoming one game of War Inc.

Heh, heh, heh, heh, heh ... business as usual Guy ... and of course what I suspected on day one of this and wrote ... well ... became a reality as it alway's does, because we have the same ole folk's playing the same ole dance ... frankly I dont even think any of this has a thing to do with freeing any people, but just a battle of power's, no one give's a shit about them from the top, anymore than they give a shit about us ... they do want us to "live" though .... after all ... you cant have slave's, pocket puppet's, and masses of flunkies, if folk's were to die, nor would you have consumer's to buy your product's ... heh, heh, heh, heh, heh.

RC we do not matter period and it sickens me that people just can't see it and it is the common in every society. We are a mere inconvenience to be placated and to be used as cannon fodder to get what the haves and the Government in control wants, period!

You know AP ... it is easier for us to see what is going on at our age than folk's half our age ... or your son's (the one who just had a b- day) age of 30. Take my daughter for instance at 25, the one I live with in the photo with me. She frankly doesnt even have the time to watch the news, barely the time to sleep and do a couple work out's a week at the spa/ fitness center ... she carries her Blackberry and laptop with her everywhere it seem's ... her internet time since she is hour's on in online daily is even limited, because her life evolve's around her job and client's, then on top of that she has to travel alot for the job as well. In college ... their swamped with worries and bill's and work as well. Also .... folk's at that age that were, say born in 1985 ... they never knew the freedom that you and I experienced in the 1960's and 1970's ... we had lost so much since them dayz brother, when I talk to my grandson's they are fascinated to hear the stories of those dayz .... just blown away by what all we had and the difference's of today, it's remarkable. I remember when I was only about 13 or so my Dad mentioninng to me ... "son ... slowly but surely our right's and liberties change and fade away ... after 30 or so year's, they do it so slowly, you dont reckonize it ... etc" (similar wording) ... at the time being a kid, caught up in kid shit, it went in one ear and out the other ... when I look back to them dayz at the thing's my Dad told me .... he was so right! I miss my Dad very much.

You are right! One of my brothers and I talk about it all the time but we had the best of America as far as I am concerned. They gave us supplies at school and didn't ration us. We had everything we wanted. No bringing your own toilet paper, cut backs and all this shit. Laying off cops, firemen and firing teachers, breaking unions. We had the best man and it wasn't 10 years ago it was the 60's!
