From nuclear testing we have switched to nuclear power plants that are causing increasingly high rates of cancer, birth defects, and literally an epidemic of diabetes. I have heard it mentioned here before that we have used weapons containing depleted Uranium and didn't really think too much about it because I really wasn't sure.
However watching this video totally documented that depleted uranium has not only turned Iraq and Afghanistan into uninhabitable nuclear holocaust for millions of years. Remember the Gulf war Syndrome? Depleted uranium was also used at Tora Bora. I was not aware of that! Cancer among soldiers is rampant!

* Wake up we are killing our Mother and not with kindness. We throw away 43,000 tons of food away every day in America. That is sick in itself! The world is starving hell even Americans are starving and we just throw away 43,000 tons of food a year. Makes me want to scream.
* We are drowning in trash. A family of 5 generates 25 pounds of trash a day. What is our Population? Figure it out!
* We use 100 million plastic bags per year. Enough is enough!
* In closing we are running out of potable water and at the same time much of our chemicals we use to grow our food ends up in the ocean along with all our other debris. As a result the monstrous garbage swirl in the pacific described above is only one. There are many and they are in every ocean. The debris field in the pacific is 90 feet deep. We have to do something. We are drowning in our Garbage. It is taking over the world. The world as we knew it is already gone. The world as we know it is right behind unless we wake up and yesterday not next year!

The really scary part of that scenario is not so much that there's trash in the oceans but that plastic bags actually do break down in 3 to 6 months to the point where fish eat the small particles. So we are now eating those plastic bags when we eat fish.
It's disgusting! When I started seeing and reading about lobsters with rotted cancerous shells 30 years ago it really woke me up but we just keep getting worse. Not enough take it seriously!
When it comes down to powerful interests being faced with the prospect of losing money and autonomy, the fouling of mankind's nest will continue until a painful lesson is learned the hard way. That seems to be the pattern, anyway.
The Great Lakes have come back a long way from having been nearly ruined. It took the Love Canal debacle, Silent Spring, hundreds of articles and op eds, and a generation of environmentally conscious people prodding politicians to make that happen.
Those with a money stake in things that damage the environment are relentless, like a force of nature, defending current things they do and coming up with new ones that make them money but cause harm.
Popular push back, OTOH, tends to wax and wane over time. It's a very unequal match.
Sorry OTOH but off the top of my head right after waking up I can't figure OTOH? I am sure like the Gulf and everything else the perpetrators of love canal worded it do it was someone elses fault. It really sickens me what companies do to the earth and people in the name of making money. Stupid me right and wrong has always commanded me and I thought that was the way it was. Shit!

Conscience doesn't seem to be considered a virtue in the corporate world. Judging by deeds and attitudes, greed generally is considered a virtue.

SO TRUE ... this only show's us that every avenue of interest's not only in this nation but the entire globe is a snowjob. As I was pointing out in some of my global warming series posting's for example ... like ... we are all going out of our way here as citizen's in our country buying the overpriced car's and taking out loan's to be more green, we are voting in the hope's of change, yet the new empire's of economic's that the wealthy are building such as China and India (nothing at all against these countries, but THEY TOO are going to get the shaft is what I'm saying by letting these shithead's run them too) they are forcing to mine Afghan territories for them and build new coal plant's weekly and put record breaking million's of petro vehicles on the road's .. it's a shame ... and a hypocrisy while our effort's here will be overshadowed and drowned out elsewhere's. Nuke plant's and all, is all 110% total mess, mif not now .. to come, rest assured. I was thinking of Earth Day too Jim ... but wouldnt even do a post on it, because I just dont feel like it's going any damn where's but a few bone's tossed here anf there, and the same ole same. BTW ... I believe in time, we wont even be able to write what we write on this interent, and even that will be controlled much, much more, if we continue to just ignore every damn thing. So let's enjoy these dayz of our free speech as is.
