Malki said terrorism was defeated in Iraq and we could leave? We better listen to Obama and get him elected as defeated terrorists continue to kill!

On 7/6 we discussed that Nouri Al-Maliki declared terrorism defeated in Iraq and declared that it was time for us to establish a withdrawal date from the so called Sovereign Nation. Of course Bush is the Decider and refuses to leave

Today we hear from those defeated terrorists again as we knew we would! At least 35 people were killed outside of an Iraqi army base Tuesday when two suicide bombers detonated their explosive-laden vests, officials said. The Interior Ministry said most of the casualties were army recruits, CNN said. Sixty-three other people were injured when the two, posing as army recruits, detonated devices outside the recruitment center at Saad military base in Baquba, Iraq, about 37 miles north of Baghdad in Diyala Province. The male bombers set off the explosives about 30 seconds apart in a crowd of more than 200 recruits, military officials said.
U.S. military officials said Tuesday they captured an Iranian-trained leader of an explosives cell in Baghdad. Officials said the man was suspected of overseeing "a network of explosives experts" and linked to attacks against Iraqi and coalition military bases. In Germany, three Iraqi men were convicted of plotting to kill a former Iraqi prime minister, CNN reported. The German federal prosecutor's office said the men were convicted of plotting to kill Ayad Allawi, Iraq's interim prime minister in 2004-05, and of being members of a terrorist organization, Ansar al-Islam, a radical Jihadist group. Defeated terrorists killing Iraqi troops on their own bases

Obama is right! It is time to withdraw, listen to Al-Maliki and the American people and withdraw to focus on worsening Afghanistan while we can! Sen. Barack Obama on Tuesday will outline his strategy for dealing with the biggest threats facing the United States, which he says requires bringing the war in Iraq to an end, his campaign said. The speech on national security and the war in Iraq comes one day after he detailed his plan for the war-torn country in a New York Times op-ed. Sources familiar with Obama's plans said the candidate will travel to Iraq later this month with two Senate colleagues, Republican Chuck Hagel and Democrat Jack Reed.
"This war distracts us from every threat that we face and so many opportunities we could seize. This war diminishes our security, our standing in the world, our military, our economy, and the resources that we need to confront the challenges of the 21st century," Obama will say, according to excerpts of his prepared remarks. "By any measure, our single-minded and open-ended focus on Iraq is not a sound strategy for keeping America safe," Obama will say, according to excerpts of his prepared remarks.

In addition to ending the war, his plan for securing the country includes finishing the fight against Qaeda and the Taliban, securing nuclear weapons from rogue nations, reaching energy security and rebuilding our alliances "to meet the challenges of the 21st century," his campaign said. See where the candidates stand on Iraq. "In fact -- as should have been apparent to President Bush and Sen. McCain -- the central front in the war on terror is not Iraq, and it never was. That's why the second goal of my new strategy will be taking the fight to al Qaeda in Afghanistan and Pakistan," Obama is expected to say. "Sen. McCain said -- just months ago -- that 'Afghanistan is not in trouble because of our diversion to Iraq.' I could not disagree more," Obama will say. Obama rightly says Iraq is a dangerous distraction

Of course McCain criticized Obama for delivering a speech on Iraq before traveling there. Obama's visit to Iraq, where he has only been once, in 2006, and Afghanistan follows repeated criticism from McCain that he should visit the area and talk to commanders. "Sen. Obama is departing soon on a trip abroad that will include a fact-finding mission to Iraq and Afghanistan," McCain said in written excerpts of comments he will deliver later on Tuesday in New Mexico."And I note that he is speaking today about his plans for Iraq and Afghanistan before he has even left," McCain said. "In my experience, fact-finding missions usually work best the other way around: first you assess the facts on the ground, then you present a new strategy," he added. McCain as usual incorrectly criticizes Obama

I happen to believe Obama is right on! We should withdraw and refocus on Afghanistan while we can and it is right for him to say what he wants to do there before he goes to Iraq to in his own words find out if what he says is doable or needs fine tuning because of events on the ground! It is time the routine childish politics of Republicans is ignored and comes to an end. It serves their selfish interests but is harmful to America, the middle east, and the world, before it is too late. We need to get Obama elected in the fall and take back the entire Government if we are to have a future at all.

I am with you on the urgency of getting Obama elected. Realistically I try not to hold too much hope for what Barack may be able to do.

He will be under enormous pressure to keep to the corporatist agenda.

This much is certain. The Reich Wing Republicans have destroyed our country enough. It is past time to crush the Reich elements of the party and out of existence, and force the rest of the party back to the moderate right instead of the radical right.

Of course the Democrats will have to move away from the right themselves to make room, since there is no functional left, or liberalism anymore.

It's the only way to bring our country back from the abyss the Reich has taken us to.

The right has destroyed the county and they are not done yet. I have faith in Obama wanting to do the right thing for the country and not for the rich or his cronies.
That said we have to keep him alive if this election too is not stolen. I don't think he will be able to get much done unless we get back total control! I am afraid he will be constrained by the future wars Bush set in motion and by the damage he has done to our societal order!

I like Barack's speech today on Iraq.

Should be interesting to see who he chooses for his VP.

I listened to his speech and couldn't turn it off. The man is right! If we can keep the elections from being stolen again and keep Obama alive he is our best chance for a future. I liked what he said about Iraq and Afghanistan and of course McDink ridiculed it. I an so sick of the game playing just speak for yourself then shut up McDink!

Bush will have Israel attack Iran so he can join in with the false premise of protecting Israel.

All this before the elections, thus forever war.

I have to disagree. We could re-deploy every single last troop in Iraq to Afghanistan, and still not win. The British and the Russians learned that the hard way. We will suffer the same fate.

As I've said hundreds of times before, the end will come when we remove our forces from the Muslims soveriegn lands and stop meddling in their affairs.

Why should we sacrifice even one more American life? How many barrels of oil is a human life worth? How many barrels of oil would you trade for the life of one of your sons?

AAAARRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

You know I have said that numerous times that coming to Israel's rescue will be what gets us in Iran. Now I will say it does not matter who our President is so we will learn real soon about the time line. This really stinks!

I agree! remember at the very Beginning we were told Muslim's wanted us off their lands all of them. that means Spain, Africa, everywhere. That will never happen so! I wrote it years ago that at this point in man's life like it or not every country has to just accept what the past has dealt them and live with what they have if we are to survive into the future and prosper. Again that will never happen!
All we ever had to do was leave them alone but noooo! No Forever War that way soooo AAARRRGGGHHH!
