Once again I must digress from covering very important events as McClellan will testify before the House in CIA leak case! Is it too late? First...

I wanted to discuss our growing environmental crises, then I moved to our still just beginning economic crises that Bernanke stupidly thinks will get better. I also wanted to discuss the very real possibility that Israel will attack Iran before our elections giving Bush the excuse to come to their rescue and cancel our elections. I also wanted to discuss the Right's growing concern that McCain is unprepared to take on Obama as I firmly believe and am banking on watching him implode. I then moved to Republican Politicians increasingly losing control of every State and everything as we need to happen and they certainly deserve. However once again I must digress as the unraveling of Bush's orchestrated underhanded nightmare is increasingly coming to light though I firmly believe it is too late to do anything about it!

Yesterday I received this E from Representative Wexler as many of you may have. I correspond often but like and respect him more every time I hear him!

Anyway from Rep. Wexler: I am pleased to announce to you that the House Judiciary Committee has met my public call for Scott McClellan's immediate testimony with action: Today, Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers officially invited Mr. McClellan to testify under oath on Friday, June 20th at 10AM. After all of our hard work pushing for impeachment hearings for Vice President Cheney

– the McClellan hearing provides our cause with a legitimate opportunity to showcase the crimes and violations of this Administration for the American people, the mainstream media, reluctant members of the Democratic party, and sensible Republicans. This hearing provides us our first genuine opportunity to enter the public consciousness and change the dynamics that have prevented true accountability for Bush and Cheney. Mr. McClellan was a major figure in the Valerie Plame/CIA scandal, as well as a leading propagandist for the Bush White House's deliberate attempts to hide the true costs of this war from the American public. As such, Mr. McClellan will testify under oath (and be subject to perjury charges should he lie) and be asked about the following matters:

What role did President Bush, Vice President Cheney , and key administration officials take in the effort to reveal the identity of covert CIA agent Valeria Plame Wilson – thus destroying her network and putting lives in jeopardy?

What role did President Bush, Vice President Cheney, and key administration officials take regarding the firing of U.S. Attorneys or political reasons?

What role did President Bush, Vice President Cheney, key administration officials take in conspiring to blatantly break U.S. and International laws prohibiting the use of torture?

* I call on Mr. McClellan to immediately accept this invitation and testify under oath as he previously agreed to while being interviewed on national television. During the hearing I will have roughly five short minutes to question Mr. McClellan and undercover the illegalities committed by this Administration – which is why it is critically important that every representative on the Judiciary Committee hears your voice. Please let them know that you demand answers to these questions. Nor should it stop there: Karl Rove has thumbed his nose to the Judiciary Committee's subpoena – joining Harriet Miers, Joshua Bolten and Vice President Cheney's Chief of Staff David Addington as the only Administration officials in history to claim Congress has no power to even bring them before a committee to be questioned. I have called for Karl Rove to be held in inherent contempt and for the other renegade officials to appear as required by their subpoenas, or be forced to do so by the House Sergeant of Arms. What the Judiciary's request of McClellan proves is that if we stay vigilant – if we call loudly and repeatedly for accountability - that we become very difficult to ignore. Please stay tuned. I hope for more developments soon. With great respect,Congressman Robert Wexler

I decided to go with this once I found the subject being covered on Faux and thought it might be too late at this point but maybe something will finally proceed with this crap, deceit, and treason. President Bush's former spokesman, Scott McClellan, will testify before a House committee next week about whether Vice President Dick Cheney ordered him to make misleading public statements about the leaking of CIA agent Valerie Plame's identity. McClellan will testify publicly and under oath before the House Judiciary Committee on June 20 about the White House's role in the leak and its response, his attorneys, Michael and Jane Tigar, said on Monday.

** In his new book, "What Happened: Inside the Bush White House and Washington's Culture of Deception," McClellan said he was misled by others, possibly including Cheney, about the role of I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby in the leak. McClellan has said publicly that Bush and Cheney "directed me to go out there and exonerate Scooter Libby." The statements prompted House Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers, D-Mich., to invite McClellan to the hearing "concerning reported attempts to cover up the involvement of White House officials in the leak of" Plame's identity. Plame's CIA identity was leaked to the news media by several top Bush administration officials in 2003, including Libby and former top White House political adviser Karl Rove. Last July, Bush commuted Libby's 2 1/2-year sentence, sparing him from serving any prison time after being convicted of perjury, obstructing justice and lying to the FBI. McClellan will testify before the House

You know the shit came right from the very top right from the beginning. As the world and America appears to be crumbling is it too late to stop or do anything about any of it?

Hey man
All right I'm coming over. First I have to tell you it is not going to stop. It is just starting. It will be a nightmare for most for some of us not many just a matter of course. I have been trying to wake people up for 30 years. It is too late now. No one is going to stop this. This is simple fact.
I have been talking to a friend in the Northern Kingdom (extreme Northern Maine) They will be okay being extremely rural and in potato country. I was just at weasledogs. Talk is all of survival. You better get off your ass, educate yourself, hunker down, and be prepared. You think we're having an election watch what happens this fall. Hold on! I told you I am concerned for those like yourself who have young kids. I am also concerned for my sons one of which called me from Iraq this morning and my Grand kids I'mon my way over!

I got the same e-mail from Wexler.

Smoke and mirrors, Jim, smoke and mirrors.

In regards to the other day--- the asshole deputy took me to jail. I'll be alright though, my help cometh from the Lord.

The word verification for this comment was oowup. Ya gotta laugh.:)

Shit man! I was wondering what was up! I was wondering what you were up to when the cop got to you but that is not up to me to broach not on thie forum anyway. You ticket.
I have to laugh. Long term help might come from the Lord but talking or something might help short term.
On another note I have been talking to Mike S who I met on your site. Pretty cool! He is way up North in an area known as The Northern Kingdom. Wilderness near the Canadian border. Potato country, I have a long connection in the area, with what it coming down the pike it is the best place in the country to be. Survival seems to be the discussion of the day. If people only knew. I am a survivalist and have been in survival mode all my life, It is kind of late to start thinking about it now. You better have the tools because it is going to drop on you. Take care Bud!

I come from the swamps of Louisiana, survival has been a part of my life for 58 years. I'll be alright. You'd be surprised at what can be eaten. I'm well versed in water de-salinization, and we got plenty of that. :)

In Florida, talking to the deputy is an exercise in futility. They have only one thing on their agenda ......... $$$$$$$$

This is all very exciting stuff.

The Dems might even write a sternly worded letter.

We can hope.

Bush and Cheney have put there criminal lies on record and still the Republican wing of the Democratic Party and the fascist wing of the Republican Party will stop all efforts at impeachment.

They are all traitors to the Constitution.

You hit it on the head. For some of us it is a way of life a life long discipline and mindset.
You make me laugh! I always tell people the same thing (you'd be amazed at what is edible) I have been talking to mike in Maine, and everyone today is talking survival. Unless I am on your or Wease's site I have to bite my tongue as to reality. I was just on my way to your place again to see if I could get to Mike's site. I didn't even know he had one. Busy, busy, busy, hope all is well!

Reality is very exciting stuff! I wish they would start facing it and now. It is too damn late to do anything about the chief idiot. Teach people how to survive the future if they cared but they don't. As long as they take care of themselves and can start over that's all they care about!

You're right Dave

I've been watching Survivor Man off and on.

In every episode he is hungry and weak by the end.

In one episode, he was stuck, hungry in a Louisiana swamp. I don't get it. Swamps are full of food. He was only able to catch one frog. One? No crawdads? No fish? One snake? In a swamp?

In the last one, he was in Africa, and only ate some cattails, a few ants, a tiny crab and some termites.

One of my sons just came here from Florida and surprised me. He just left for the day. Survivor man is that, that reality survivor show. Louisiana, one frog guts and all should should keep you for a day. I would expect to find all kinds of life. Even up here. Hell if it crawls or moves in any way I'll eat it. I might even cook it.
My fiance thinks I'm soft but just give ma a rat trap and I'll eat like a king. Was that you I was talking with about the fact that you would be surprised at what is edible. I was an astute student and will simply brush up. We'll be alright.

Gwt this Jim Bush thinks he is known as a war-monger because of his rhetoric, not his actions:

President Bush has admitted to The Times that his gun-slinging rhetoric made the world believe that he was a “guy really anxious for war” in Iraq. He said that his aim now was to leave his successor a legacy of international diplomacy for tackling Iran.

In an exclusive interview, he expressed regret at the bitter divisions over the war and said that he was troubled about how his country had been misunderstood. “I think that in retrospect I could have used a different tone, a different rhetoric.”

Phrases such as “bring them on” or “dead or alive”, he said, “indicated to people that I was, you know, not a man of peace”. He said that he found it very painful “to put youngsters in harm’s way”. He added: “I try to meet with as many of the families as I can. And I have an obligation to comfort and console as best as I possibly can. I also have an obligation to make sure that those lives were not lost in vain.”

Here comes that Depression Jim:

An ominous warning that the rapid rise in oil prices has only just begun

By Danny Fortson, Business Correspondent

The chief executive of the world's largest energy company has issued the most dire warning yet about the soaring the price of oil, predicting that it will hit $250 per barrel "in the foreseeable future".

The forecast from Alexey Miller, the head of the Kremlin-owned gas giant Gazprom, would herald the arrival of £2-per-litre petrol and send shockwaves through the economy. His comments were the most stark to be expressed by an industry executive and come just days after the oil price registered its largest-ever single-day spike, hitting $139.12 per barrel last week amid fears that the world's faltering supply will be unable to keep up with demand.

Mr Miller's prediction is well beyond even the most heady market forecasts, the most extreme of which fall between $150 and $200 per barrel, and was explained only by vague references to demand from the developing world. It nonetheless stoked an already febrile atmosphere of growing public anger across Europe over a soaring fuel cost that is wreaking havoc at nearly every level of the economy.

The British Government was urging motorists yesterday not to panic-buy petrol in anticipation of a strike on Friday by lorry drivers who deliver petrol to forecourts for Royal Dutch Shell, assuring motorists that contingency plans would ensure sufficient supplies.

In Spain, the regional government of Catalonia enacted an emergency action plan to bring in fresh food and fuel supplies after nearly half of its forecourts ran dry and supermarkets shelves were left bare. The situation was the result of the second day of an "indefinite" nationwide strike staged by lorry drivers in Spain seeking their government's help to contain the effects of expensive petrol. Scattered protests by drivers and fisherman in France and Portugal also continued yesterday.

In a speech to the European Business Congress in Deauville, France, Mr Miller offered little prospect of relief. He warned that the world was experiencing a fundamental shift in energy prices that will end at a "radically new level. We expect that the oil price will approach $250 per barrel in the foreseeable future".

Philip Shaw, an economist at Investec Securities, warned that oil at that level would exert an extraordinary drag on the economy at a time when it is already decelerating at a rapid rate. "The word is ouch," he said. "Forecasts are forecasts though, and I think it should be treated with some level of scepticism."

The most visible result of $250 oil would be at the petrol pump, which is already at a record 116.9 pence per litre for unleaded. Because more than half of that price, about 68p, is due to duty and taxes, the general rule of thumb is that each $2 increase for oil means a 1p increase of petrol at the pump. Oil at $250 a barrel would mean an increase of almost 60p in petrol prices, even before VAT.

The price of everything from food to energy would see significant price rises. Household electricity and gas bills are particularly vulnerable. Power companies have begun warning of a second round of major tariff increases for household bills this year that they say they will need to push through just to break even.

Mr Miller placed some of the blame on financial speculators for oil's price rise – it has more than doubled in the past year – but said that the primary reason is simple supply and demand, driven by the rapidly expanding countries of the developing world, principally China and India.

It is a view shared by the International Energy Agency. In its monthly oil report, the developed world's energy watchdog said yesterday that the "abnormally high prices [for oil] are largely explained by fundamentals". But whether the price of oil will reach $250 is uncertain at best. Most expect it to reach a breaking point before that figure. The IEA said that the high price would eventually "choke off" demand and a balance between supply and demand would return.

What is certain is that for Europe, Mr Miller's role will become increasingly important as head of the continent's single biggest gas supplier. He also warned against "protectionist tendencies" in Europe, where worries have grown that the company is being used as a blunt negotiating tool of the Kremlin. "The relationship between Gazprom and Europeans is one of mutual dependence. We rely as much on European consumers as they depend on us," he said.

"In all frankness, I am concerned about certain protectionist tendencies resurfacing in the EU ... How wise it is that the European Commission invents an 'anti-Gazprom clause' to keep investments which are so needed for more efficient satisfaction of raising demand."

About your Bush comment: The man still cannot stop lieing. What will it take to get the truth outta him? Maybe waterboarding?????

Depression is already here, Larry. The question is: How bad will it get before it bottoms out? The 'Supply and Demand' theory is BS. You, Jim, I, and many others, all know it. When was the last time you saw a line at the fuel pumps????

All the srikes are a GOOD thing. The only way to get the attention of the obscenely wealthy Corporatists (which includes 'Big Oil') is to put a nut-squeeze on their wallets.

Weaseldog said...

Brother Tim, that's a good question on the line at the fuel pumps.

The answer is simple, when inventories get lower, they raise prices. They don't wait for the gasoline to run out. So everyone can buy as much gas as they choose to, at the price offered.

For instance, there is an extreme shortage of gasoline priced at $1.25 / Gallon. But if you wanted to pay $5 / Gal, you'd find dealers lining up to sell it to you, until they ran low on inventory.

I keep saying this is just the absolute beginning. The other day I mentioned the G8 concerned the world might be headed to recession. Idiots! By himself Bush guaranteed hell. This including the wars and environmental problems along with water and food wars are just beginning and combined will dwarf the Great Depression and WW2 combined. Again I will say relax but be prepared!

They are all afraid of Bush and his cronies. Remember Dan Rather? They have and will do worse. Even what they did to Plame was mild! No one will say a word until it is too late to matter! We should all be more than a little frightened and concerned!

That boat don't float.

Inventories are still high. Demand dropped 1.3%, and the refineries cut production back to 88.6% of current capacity.

This is another Big Oil Rip-off

jmsjoin said...

Brother
There is nothing that is going to drop prices. We are powerless and the industry now knows it and smells and tastes blood. Cutting their tax breaks drilling in Anwr nothing will work and it will only backfire rasing prices for some other excuse. We are hostage. Besides hydrogen I see no recourse and nothing changing what is still just beginning. I am leaning on doing an update along this line as I just learned meals on wheels is hurting now too. You know, this is just beginning!

Weaseldog said...

Brother Tim, well clearly, they are charging what the market will bear.

Aren't you glad we have an oil man in the White House?

Consider though that World Oil Production is flat. The world is consuming oil as fast as it can be produced. Other countries are outbidding us on the open market, and driving the price higher.

Our oil refineries were running near 100% for a time. They can't do that forever. They are supposed to operate under capacity.

I expect that our refineries will continue to see production declines as other countries increase their consumption, while ours drops.

Demand is a mythical creature, like a unicorn. In theory it is the measure of how much product people would buy at a given price. In practice it is measured as what people are buying.

Rather than trust the government's figures on demand, like their fake CPI figures, consider that price will keep rising, so long as demand exceeds supply. Demand could be considered a ratio of (New Price / Old Price) / Time.

It could well be that World Oil production declined this year. The last EIA and IEIA figures I saw were rosy. But their recent figures are always rosy lies. We'll have to wait a year to learn the truth, when they backdate their corrections.

If World Oil production is in decline now, then you'll see refinery capacity continue to fall as China begins consuming an ever growing share of the oil pie.

If we want to keep consumption up, then we have to dramatically outbid them, even as our trade deficit grows at over $600 Billion / Year and we make the Chinese wealthy beyond the dreams of avarice.

So as we pour money into China, we have to pour money into the Middle East faster, to bid against the dollars we're giving the Chinese. But if the Chinese can't buy enough oil, their exports will decline and they'll have to charge more for cheap plastic crap.

You know Tim, the US Military is paying something like $47/gal for diesel in Iraq. Perhaps that's where some of our domestic supply is being redirected to?

jmsjoin said...

How the hell can they justify that or is it the hazardous duty? I was going to discuss the growing vioolence in the world over the prices but again there is so much hapening I think the idiot wins again!

Weaseldog said...

Jim, I think it's 80% graft and 20% war premium.

We ship it in with convoys, then sell it to Iraqis for under a buck a gallon.

Halliburton and other contractors work from a Cost Plus style contract, where the more money they waste, the higher their profits are.
