Iranian scientist was CIA asset for years, knowing that was going back a good idea?

Iran-USA: Shahram Amiri's return to Iran

Amiri is playing with fire! Officials said that Amiri had been given 5 million dollars for providing essential information. But the money would have been paid over an extended period and Amiri was not able to take it with him because American sanctions prohibited financial transfers to Iran.

American officials have said that his accusations that he had been kidnapped and drugged were manufactured, and an effort to survive what will almost certainly be a grilling by the Iranian authorities. His safety depends on him sticking to that fairy tale about pressure and torture. There is no way he is going to hold up under what the IRG will do to him.
Iranian scientist was CIA asset for years: NYT
Iranian nuclear scientist suspected to be CIA agent‎

Iran's foreign minister Manouchehr Mottaki gave the first official hints of Iranian doubts about his story."We first have to see what has happened in these two years and then we will determine if he's a hero or not, Iran must determine if his claims about being kidnapped were correct or not," Mottaki said.

Amiri, a specialist in measuring radioactive materials, worked at the Malek Ashtar University, which some American officials think is used as an academic cover for the organization responsible for designing weapons and warheads that could fit atop an Iranian missile. (ANI) 'Iranian scientist was CIA informant in Tehran

Why are they burning that poor dummy by saying he was a CIA informant whether he was or not or maybe he still is? The Iranian scientist who spent 14 months in the United States in mysterious circumstances had been a CIA informant inside Iran for years, This guy is playing a deadly game with his life for what? To keep the IRG from harming his family? To get back inside Iran as a US double agent?

Any way you look at it his natural life is over. They will never let him run free and they will torture him until he tells them what they want to hear as we know is the only result of torture. He will admit to working for the US! I firmly believe he went to the US from Saudi Arabia willingly but went back to Iran unwillingly to protect his son and other family members from the Iranian agents of death the IRG (Iran's revolutionary guard)

My first response to this stroy was that he was a double-agent (for us or for them). But, I agree, if he is indeed a spy for us, it is likely he will be found out via torture.

Hi Vicki! Yeah they will torture him. Even with the IRG threatening his family and friends I still find it hard to believe he went back knowing what they will do to him.

Or maybe he was bribed to be an informant to use against Iran like "curveball" was for Iraq. He may just be treated as a heroic victim of US war-mongering. Hard to say how the Iranians will spin this.

They do not screw around, I am sure he will admit we took him and tortured him. Beats the hell out of being tortured into admitting treason and being hung.

It's weird. First he says he's tortured then all of a sudden everything is hunky dory. This wouldn't be a case of a double double agent would it? Or maybe he's working for the Russians.

Demeur I know it goes back to day one but in this deadly game of deceit and deception it just gets worse and worse and on a larger scale as the world jockeys for position justifying their hidden agenda.

You have to wonder Tim! Just another episode in the lie we live today. The only truth is they are all lying which means whatever the agenda it will continue unabated. WTF?
