Gore Backs Obama rips Bush Obama vows preelection visit to Israel, to visit Iraq, Billions to repair our failing infrastructure, This is a winner! ???

I wanted to discuss the fact that the Midwest is still flooding levees are failing and at last count there are 26 in danger of failing. I also wanted to discuss the US dropping leaflets warning residents to move out of the Taliban held towns in Afghanistan before NATO forces try to recapture them. I wanted to discuss also the chief idiot going to visit the flooded areas so he can lie to them too saying he will help them like he helped everyone else in disaster areas, Not! I also wanted to discuss that not only has Bush created an opium haven in Afghanistan to financially support our enemies and to supply single handedly more than the entire world can consume but with his wars in Iraq and Afghanistan he has also created half of the worlds 11.2 million displaced peoples. However as seems to happen every day now I have to digress. Today for an unusual change it is for good news!

By now everyone knows Former Vice President Al Gore endorsed Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama on Monday, urging Americans to reject what he called the Bush administration's legacy of "incompetence, negligence and failure." He said "Americans simply cannot afford to continue the policies of the last eight years for another four," Gore, the party's 2000 presidential nominee, told Obama supporters at a rally in Detroit, Michigan. Perceived as a senior statesman in the Democratic party, Gore brings a certain force to Obama's campaign, political analysts have said. Monday marked Gore's debut in the 2008 election; he had not weighed in while Obama was still battling Sen. Hillary Clinton. Amid thousands of cheering supporters, Gore began by addressing head-on the criticism that Obama doesn't have enough experience to lead the nation.

* I really liked this part as The former vice president turned Nobel Prize winner playfully said he recalled one Republican nominee wondering out loud whether his Democratic rival for president was "naive and inexperienced." "And yet another said the United States cannot afford to risk the future of the free world with inexperience and immaturity in the White House," said Gore. "Who were they talking about? Every single one of those quotes came from the campaign of 1960, when the the Republicans attacked John Fitzgerald Kennedy for allegedly lacking the age and experience necessary to be president." Richard Nixon was the Republican nominee in 1960. Joining Obama in the midst of the candidate's two week swing through the nation to talk about his plans to revitalize the economy, Gore praised Obama as someone who could mobilize people, young and old, who had never before taken part in politics. Gore went on to praise the nominee's vision on the environment, domestic and international issues. Saying he will do whatever he can to support Obama's bid for the White House, Gore said Obama has "inspired" him. "I feel that same spirit in this auditorium tonight, building all over this country this year," he said. "Take it from me, elections matter," Gore said.

"If you think the next appointments to our Supreme Court are important, you know that elections matter. If you live in the city of New Orleans, you know that elections matter. If you or a member of your family are serving in the active military, the National Guard or Reserves, you know that elections matter. "If you are a wounded veteran, you know that elections matter. If you've lost your job; if you're struggling with a mortgage, you know that elections matter. Gore cited concerns about the environment, lead-painted toys and food safety -- even pet foods -- as other reasons to vote for the Democrat. "After the last eight years, even our dogs and cats have learned that elections matter," Gore said, adding, "After eight years of lost jobs and lower wages, we need change. After eight years of incompetence, negligence and failure, we need change." Gore said the Bush administration has "dishonored and disrespected" the Constitution and led the nation through "eight years of the most serious foreign policy mistakes in the entire history of our nation." as we all know is true and is just scratching the surface! He also He called for Americans to move beyond partisanship and select in Obama a leader who can "solve the climate crisis and create a bright future." Al Gore backs Obama for president you can also watch it

It gets even better as Obama reportedly plans to visit Israel before the U.S. presidential election in November. The Democrat's likely candidate announced this week that he will tour Iraq and Afghanistan ahead of his showdown with the Republican's likely nominee, John McCain. Citing sources in the Obama campaign, Yediot Achronot reported Tuesday that the candidate also will come to Israel for talks with Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and other top officials. Obama is seen as anxious to burnish his national security credentials. Good idea

He was also wise to deflate McCain on the Iraq issue as A day after his Republican counterpart sat down with visiting Iraqi foreign minister Hoshyar Zebari, Barack Obama spoke with him by phone from Chicago Monday morning and told him that he looked forward to seeing him in Baghdad before November. Obama calls Iraq promises pre McCain debate visit you can watch this too

To top off the days good news on Obama he also proposed spending billions to revitalize the nation's economy, a plan the campaign of his likely Republican opponent said would slow economic growth with higher taxes. During an economic speech in Flint, Michigan, Obama promised to spend billions to improve America's education, infrastructure, energy and health care systems. To improve America's competitiveness, the senator from Illinois said he wants to spend $10 billion on childhood education, $150 billion over 10 years on developing alternative energy and $60 billion over 10 years to build "21st century infrastructure." Obama said he would pay for these programs by ending the war in Iraq, reducing government waste, charging polluters for greenhouse gas emissions and ending the Bush tax cuts for wealthy individuals. This is right but of course dead wrong by war mongering Republicans

*Obama is really making his stride and rapidly saying and doing the right things in order to become our saviour I mean President as long as we can keep him alive and we even have fair elections or any elections at all if Israel attacks Iran and Bush steps in to help them before elections thereby staying at the helm of this mess!

I don't know if we really have actual elections now.

I really have no idea if or how my vote might be counted.

I do not believe elections are fair today. The last two at least were stolen and I expect this one to be too. The only question is just what fiasco are they going to use. None of the possibilities are pleasant.
Do yuou remember the NH primary was contested because of those damn machines? Obama and I think! it was Edwards was told they could have a recount if they paid for it. They said they would and we never heard anything about it anymore!
I am not looking forward to this fall at all! Israel will attack Iran getting us in there. Obama may be assassinated. The election finagled? This is no Democracy this is a facade!

I am not an American - but I loved Al Gore's short speech last night.

There's just one thing I can't get over these days. We are all too used to it to even notice it when it comes from the neocons, but it is especially irritating when it comes from intelligent folks like Obama and Gore. As I (too angrily), had to note on my weblog:

It also really, insanely irks me when those who opposed the war state their reasons and give a big loud I told you so … By only referring to what America has lost during these 5 long years. More than ONE MILLION Iraqis have been KILLED. Not “injured”, not “wounded” … KILLED!!!!!!!!!! This is a bloody massacre and all you can talk about is what it has done to the economy? After the second world war, can we in the Western world, in our right minds even slightly imagine what it may be like to lose that many citizens? And all you can do is tell me what it’s done to your economy? Don't their dead corpses deserve the slightest nod or gesture?

While American issues are number one on the list of any candidate, especially if they opposed the war, I don't think they should blindly look over all that Iraqis have lost during this occupation.

I agree, Gore's speech was very good and coupled with Obama's recent revelation's on Israel, Iraq, and the US infrastructure, would be most beneficial to us getting back the entire Government as we must! I was disturbed to notice Hillary fans continue to be angry. I just heard 20% still plan on voting for McCain.
A McCain election stolen or whatever would guarantee the demise of the US and the world. We can't let it happen!
I agree with you on the Partisan poor me rhetoric coming from both sides. One wanting to stop US deaths and pull out to save lives and money and the other to not let them have died in vane and not haver sacrificed for nothing!
I have written on it extensively but no one of consequence even mentions the 2 1/2 million permanently displaced or the fact that basic necessities are still a dream in many places. Screw these partisan Political Idiots!

Blood on Bush's hands

Len Hart

Bush's Official Conspiracy Theory of 911 Defies the Laws of Physics. If an airliner of some 100 tons had crashed into the Pentagon, some 100 tons of debris would have been recovered. It wasn't recovered because it wasn't there! Not even Bush's kiss ups have dared make such a claim!

The question then is not 'where is the airliner', but 'where is the debris'? Until Bush can come up with a better cover story, his 'theories' are not credible. Stories inconsistent with demonstrable physics are --bluntly --bald-faced lies. Odds are good that whomever is most motivated to lie about 911 is guilty of it!

The 'official conspiracy theory' of 911 is just such a lie. Bush's official conspiracy theory requires a complete rewrite of the laws of physics going back to Galileo, Newton, and perhaps even Aristotle. It is more reasonable to conclude that Bush is a part of a murderous plot to seize dictatorial powers than to conclude that Galileo, Newton and Einstein were just wrong about matter, motion, and the conservation of both matter and energy. I don't they were wrong. Rather --I think Bush is a goddamn liar!

Certainly, Einsteinian physics proposed an equation that describes the conversion of matter into energy: E = mc2. But E = mc2 cannot explain what happened at the Pentagon unless one is willing to posit that a nuclear device was exploded there. Had that happened, the Pentagon and perhaps much of DC would not have been left standing. That we are expected to believe that a 100 ton airliner simply vanished is the most absurd violation of Occam's Razor that I've encountered in my lifetime. It's stupid! Needless to say --no one exploded a thermonuclear device; neither did an airliner exceed the speed of light and thus pop into another dimension.

Absurd theories by Bush partisans and paid liars simply create more problems for themselves than they can explain scientifically. If Bush had been innocent he would have insisted upon a thorough and complete investigation. Instead, he tried to cover it up and interfered with the 911 commission which he opposed.

Let's re-examine the physics that proves Bush a liar.

When a piece of copper metal is heated in air, it comes together with oxygen in the air. Then if it is weighed, it is found to have a greater mass that the original piece of metal. If however the mass of the oxygen of the air that combines with the metal is taken into consideration, it can be shown that the mass of the product is within the limits of accuracy of any weighing instrument, equal to the sum of the masses of the copper and oxygen that combine. This behavior of matter is in accord with what is called the Law of Conservation of Matter: During an ordinary chemical change, there is no detectable increase or decrease in the quantity of matter.

Conversion of one type of matter into another are always accompanied by the conversion of one form of energy into another. Usually heat is leveled or absorbed, but sometimes the conversion involves light or electrical energy instead of, or in addition to heat. Many transformations of energy, of course, do not involve chemical changes. Electrical energy can be changed into either mechanical, light, heat or potential energy without chemical changes. Mechanical energy is converted into electrical energy in a generator. Potential and kinetic energy can be converted into one another. Many other conversions are possible, but all of the energy involved in any change always appears in some form after the change is completed.

The Law of Conservation of Energy states that energy cannot be created or destroyed, but can change its form.

The total quantity of matter and energy available in the universe is a fixed amount and never any more or less.

Jim--
As I sat down to comment about this, I realized it would be so long, I decided I'd put it up as a post at my place.

Obama is better than McCain't, but I wouldn't call him any kind of saviour, either. He has some sycophantic behavioral problems; but if he's just pandering for votes, then he he has some honesty problems. One is no less virtuous than the other.

Look at this Jim:

Evil In High Places

Once upon a time in this country, when corruption in high places was exposed, something was done about it. What happens now is the perps simply smile for the few cameras that ever focus on their crimes, pooh, pooh the charges, and return to pursue their dark agendas, unmolested by those we’ve hired to protect us from them. The fourth estate, once a mighty force for the righting of such wrongs, simply no longer responds to that higher call.

The free and democratic nature of the internet has provided a precious measure of correction for those abuses just by making it possible for us to find out about them while they’re happening. If you believe in such things, you’d almost think it was divine intervention, the way the internet took fire when it did. It has been a precious glimmer of light in what was threatening to be the new Dark Ages. All you have to do is spend 30 minutes a day looking, and you can see that things like championing the underdog, intolerance for injustice, demanding accountability from officeholders and most of all, an undying love for this country and all it once represented that was good, and fine, are all still very much alive and well among We The People. All those reports about how lazy we are, how all we care about is who’s winning on American Idol or owning the next iteration of the iPod -- all lies. They are particularly brilliant lies of course, because there’s actually some evidence we are a little too enamored of empty, hollow, meaningless things – but they are lies all the same. That’s the good news.

The bad news is that it doesn’t seem to matter that we’re not the stupid fools we thought we were. We have thoroughly exposed an awful crime and nothing has changed. It isn’t because we’re nothing but a bunch of fat, lazy, ignorant fools that we're danger of losing all we ever held dear, it’s because we’ve lost control of the people in power. Because we've lost the vote. It didn’t happen because we weren’t paying attention. It happened through brilliant subterfuge, meticulous planning, and plain old garden variety evil in high places. Regardless of how you feel about right and wrong, and good and evil, you can’t help but be impressed by what they accomplished, and how they accomplished it. Misunderestimate these people at your peril.

We found out though, finally. We found out that the vote theft machine swung into place and put George Bush in office twice, instead of the people we voted for. I try not to think about how different the world might look today if it hadn’t happened. I have my hands full of things I can do something about. But I can take some comfort in knowing that we did not elect him in 2000, or re-elect him in 2004. We knew what we wanted both times and we knew who was bad for the country both times and we voted that way. Our votes didn’t matter. The fix was in.

We thought we were deploying the one thing we had that nobody could ever take away from us – the one invincible weapon we would always have against wickedness in high places: our vote. Turns out all we were doing was playing a role in the charade, so those overpaid, underqualified celebrities masquerading as the fourth estate could play theirs by filming us doing it and “reporting” about the whole show for a few days. Then they could return to insulting our intelligence and diverting our attention with the sickening stories of gruesome, obscure crimes and revoltingly shallow celebrity gossip that pass for “news” now.

I fly to and from Brussels twice a year. Europeans (who make me for American almost immediately) delight in grilling me about George Bush. One actually said, to my face, that the fact that we elected him twice is evidence that Americans “simply have no critical thinking skills.” I stifled my impulse to punch him in the nose for drawing that conclusion because God help me, I drew it myself – many Americans did. We thought the lunatic fringe had somehow become a majority and were therefore representative of this country. They aren’t and they never were. They’ve always been the small, if stubborn, 15%-25% who currently remain loyal to George Bush. They were never the majority they’d need to have been to elect him twice. If you don’t know whether to laugh or cry, welcome to my world. I can’t decide either.

There have always been things like literacy tests, stuffing ballot boxes, and various other burglar's tools that those in power have used down through our history to steal our votes from us. When discovered, they were addressed, and eliminated. That’s how it used to happen. It happened that way for so long we started to think it was some kind of divine law that could never be abrogated – you get caught trying to subvert democracy you’re toast. Those were the days, huh?

It’s hard to walk around the virtual room of political discourse in this country without tripping over a book, an article, a movie, a blog, a website or some other evidence that authors, moviemakers, celebrities and an army or ordinary citizens have dedicated, for the last 8 years, their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honors to taking back the vote. I want to shoot off fireworks when I realize it -- and once again, when I see that the vote remains firmly in the hands of the bad guys, I blow out the match. I'm dying for the day when I can go on and light the fuse so I can get the kick out of the rocket's red glare God intended for me to get from it.

Nothing has changed since 2000. A beautifully organized, managed, and executed election theft machine was deployed then that performed beautifully, did so again in 2004, and has been being rendered ever more efficient since then without a second glance from the people we hired to restrain these kinds of abominations.

A recent, and therefore especially important book is "Loser Take All: Election Fraud and the Subversion of Democracy 2000-2008" by Mark Crispin Miller. I can’t possibly recommend it highly enough. There’s Greg Palast’s "Armed Madhouse." There’s the seminal two articles in Rolling Stone by RFK, Jr. There’s another standard in this study from Harper’s, called “None Dare Call It Stolen.” There’s the HBO documentary “Hacking Democracy” that is so available and so inexpensive there’s just no excuse for anybody not to have seen it, and millions have. It’s the story about one of the leaders of this insurgency, Bev Harris, and her comrades – freedom fighters all. Very ordinary American people who take up arms when their country is under attack regardless of the odds or the cost -- and who are, therefore, extraordinary.

This fraud has been thoroughly exposed. It’s not a secret. It’s not a conspiracy theory. It’s a fact. It happened. We know about it and we are appropriately outraged. Nothing has changed. And we have another presidential election upon us.

Caging lists are bigger and better, dirty tricks have been prettied up and perfected. There are more of the thoroughly discredited electronic voting machines in place now than ever, with predictable results. There are some interesting discrepancies between the hand-counted votes and the optically scanned ones in the New Hampshire primary, for instance. Remember how the punditocracy decided Clinton’s puzzling win there was all about some kind of weird backlash over the tears she shed? I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry as I watched the ridiculous gymnastics they executed to explain that. It’s hard for me to believe that fraud hasn’t entered their minds, but maybe it hasn’t. It doesn’t matter either. They’re either too stupid to consider it or they know about it and they’re too venal to report on it. Either way, if we depend on them to sound the alarm we’ve got a long wait.

But we all know they’re a joke. This has been thoroughly exposed without them. And that has not translated into the slightest remedy. Everything is still in place only more so. The perps haven’t broken stride.

A picture pops into my mind when I have to face this. I try to suppress it with varying success. It was on the cover of a magazine – I think Life magazine -- when the Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan all those years ago. It was this bunch of turbaned tribesmen, armed with these long sticks, and clubs, and rocks, attacking some tanks, defending their country even though they knew they were going to be crushed to death in the process. I cried when I saw it then and I still have to fight back tears when I remember that picture. Because it seems to be what’s happening to us, here, and now.

There’s another picture though, equally powerful. I should at least give it equal time. It’s the famous picture of that one fearless man in Tiananmen Square who stood in front of a tank to defend freedom. Just like the Afghan tribesmen, and just like you and me, he was outgunned in a major way and he still did what had to be done. In his case the tank stopped.

Wonder how it will turn out for us.

I don't think I have heard that one but we know for a fact that Bush is a worthless proven underhanded liar from day one! Absolutely 100% everything is a fabrication a total lie so this mess can be followed. We know it,. he knows it, the world knows it, and the scum gets away with it. For security my ass! We are all powerless and I just do not get it!

I mean Obama at this point appears to be the only hope we have as slim as it is. We are so screwed but we have to keep trying! I will be over to see what you have to say. See you then!

If Obama does make it to the top of the political pile, and does end the war in Iraq, then what will happen to the millions of workers currently engaged in the manufacture , shipping and sales of weapons?
The military is said to be worth a trillion dollars per annum to suppliers of war related products, including uniforms, which are nearly all made by the prisoners in american jails :(((.
Of course, if he keeps good his word to end the war in Iraq, but then ups the war in Afghanistan, and also attacks Iran and Pakistan, then the warmongers will be in clover!
All said, I guess he is the "lesser of two evils", but anyone who "aspires" to the position of chief, is often not a true indian.

That piece on Evil in High Places is good but we know all that and a lot more. The internet is our printing press and our way of communicating and getting the truth out but it is worth nothing as we do not matter nor does what we think or know.
We are just laughed off and dismissed as this US and world changing underhanded agenda continues.
We also know there is no question how this will all turn out. total world war I call a forever War as we have again discussed numerous times. The only question is how many will be left to start over in the mess of a planet that will be left as I closed My old manifesto to the world with! No one is listening all right I'll shut up!

All right Karen! Thanks that was really good. I expected a blow it for a lot of reasons but you never know. I assumed the series was purposely brought to that point for the financial benefit and so the Celts could win it at home.

I hate to say it but we will not be leaving Iraq as we think we will. The military Industry will do even better in the future than they are and it stinks. We are in a Forever War! Sun Tzu says...

When doing battle, seek a quick victory.

A protracted battle will blunt weapons and dampen ardor.

If troops lay siege to a walled city, their strength will be exhausted.

If the army is exposed to a prolonged campaign, the nation's resources will not suffice.

When weapons are blunted, and ardor dampened, strength exhausted, and resources depleted, the neighboring rulers will take advantage of these complications.

Then even the wisest of counsels would not be able to avert the consequences that must ensue.

Therefore, I have heard of military campaigns that were clumsy but swift, but I have never seen military campaigns that were skilled but protracted.

No nation has ever benefited from protracted warfare.

Therefore, if one is not fully cognizant of the dangers inherent in doing battle, one cannot fully know the benefits of doing battle.

Those skilled in doing battle do not raise troops twice, or transport provisions three times.

Take equipment from home but take provisions from the enemy.

Then the army will be sufficient in both equipment and provisions.

A nation can be impoverished by the army when it has to supply the army at great distances.

When provisions are transported at great distances, the citizens will be impoverished.

Those in proximity to the army will sell goods at high prices.

When goods are expensive, the citizens' wealth will be exhausted.

When their wealth is exhausted, the peasantry will be afflicted with increased taxes.

When all strength has been exhausted and resources depleted, all houses in the central plains utterly impoverished, seven-tenths of the citizens' wealth dissipated,

the government's expenses from damaged chariots, worn-out horses, armor, helmets, arrows and crossbows, halberds and shields, draft oxen, and heavy supply wagons,

will be six-tenths of its reserves.

Therefore, a wise general will strive to feed off the enemy.

One bushel of the enemy's provisions is worth twenty of our own, one picul of fodder is worth twenty of our own.

Killing the enemy is a matter of arousing anger in men;

taking the enemy's wealth is a matter of reward.

Therefore, in chariot battles, reward the first to capture at least ten chariots.

Replace the enemy's flags and standards with our own.

Mix the captured chariots with our own, treat the captured soldiers well.

This is called defeating the enemy and increasing our strength.

Therefore, the important thing in doing battle is victory, not protracted warfare.

Therefore, a general who understands warfare is the guardian of people's lives, and the ruler of the nation's security.

That was good and right until little Bushie! "I have heard of military campaigns that were clumsy but swift, but I have never seen military campaigns that were skilled but protracted. No nation has ever benefited from protracted warfare."
This is all purely for financial gain and a new order one Government World with the US in charge. This is still just the beginning of this Forever War! Protracted is putting it lightly Bud!

Weaseldog said...

He said that no nation benefits from protracted warfare.

Bush is proving him to be correct.

So Bush profits at our nation's expense. The harm he does to our nation, the more he benefits.

I agree with you! But you have to remember our goal is not Bush's goal. What we see as failure is total success to him. Bankrupting our America is only one small goal.
You know a one world economy has been his goal for a long time. He wants a permanent presence in the middle east to control the oil and get this Forever War going. that so he thinks will fuel the new one world economy and Government with the US at the head.
We have discussed all of this numerous times usually in the comments I'd say and thanks to Larry but along with the NAU is a plan for a new monetary system. Of course it too is denied but it makes perfect sense when you look at the looting of our economy!

Weaseldog said...

Absolutely Jim.

The sad part is that as world oil production declines, this new global super structure will fracture and fall apart. We'll be trapped under the rubble of the collapsing infrastructure.

To make this dream happen, all localization must stamped out, and all good and services must be transported using fossil fuels, so that they can be controlled from centralized locations.

The idea of turning the world into a single corporate entity can only be accomplished so long as energy growth continues.

Without infinite energy growth, mega-corporations can't consume enough resources to stay alive. Smaller entities gain the upper hand.

Many of our largest corporations now have become carrion feeders and parasites. When these types become dominate species of an ecosystem, it's because the ecosystem is crashing.

Some think that once USA crashes, BlackWater will become the local military police force. But what will they be paid with? Inflationary hot checks?

They may be used in some locales, but it's more likely that authority will become more localized. Centralized authority requires the ability to get agents (troops) to any location quickly. As hot spots pick up all over the states, the fuel costs will make it prohibitive for a centralized authority to respond to every crisis.

Local authorities will increasing regain control. At first with the Fed's blessing, then later, in spite of it.

I don't believe that the neocons understand this at all. I believe that they believe completely in 'progress'. And that they direct progress as a way to conquer nature and the world. They do not see to what extent their actions and options are molded by forces that they dismiss as irrelevant.

Whom ever takes control of ME oil, will be the target of the world's ire. Just as every redneck blames the Muslims for high gas prices, once we own the problem, all of the world's 'rednecks' will blame Americans.

In the game, 'King of the Hill', 'the King' is constantly being replaced.
