A Government Report says Al Qaeda worse today than since 9/11. Bush of course says it's better, Sees Iraq interim report with 10 failures as cause for optimism, everyone else failure! Listen to Obama's solution!
I just first want to say that I heard an absolutely stunning statement this morning in relation to the Vietnam Wall Memorial that makes one take stark note of Bush's insistence in staying in Iraq's civil war that he caused, after he was told numerous times that it would fail and he couldn't win militarily. Please let me put the days developments in contrast first.
First, as I woke to the alarm this morning I had the pleasure of waking to hear an interview on WBZ of Barack Obama and what a President Obama would do in Iraq. I was pretty happy when I heard him say that he would call together the Joint Chiefs that Bush ignored and listen to their advice first.
He called For a phased withdrawal, no permanent U.S. Bases, and the withdrawal to begin within 2 months of his time in office. Please listen to it, it is better than this and short. http://wbz1030.com/...
Then I heard that a Government Report is reporting that Al Qaeda is stronger today than it was in 2001 as we all knew it would be. But of course Bush knows better! The report reports that Al Qaeda is the strongest it has been since the aftermath of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, a new U.S. government analysis concludes, according to a senior government official who has seen it.
The five-page intelligence analysis remains classified and was prepared for senior U.S. policy makers. It was not issued in response to a specific threat. Two intelligence officials said the report's finding are similar to what is expected to be in the National Intelligence Estimate anticipated to be released later this summer. The NIE is the intelligence community's collective analysis of pressing national security issues.

They both see a resurgence and re strengthening of what they call Al Qaeda. Most of us knew they would and that this is just getting started. After six years of bragging, artificial successes, and fear mongering, his so called successes which are only designed to allow him to further his war against Islamists as he attempts his prosecution of middle east order and not theirs.
As we all bear witness, Bush is succeeding. Now you know why he can brag of success! As we expected not only are there more Islamists which he denies of course, They are more diverse and dedicated to our destruction, while being deadlier and farther underground as an average idiot would have expected but of course Bush is no "average idiot"
Then I had it worsened by hearing Bush's misinterpretation of the interim progress report. With 10 of the 18 benchmarks of success being deemed as failures, I would say it is worse than that but The president is pleading for more patience saying stupidly that this is call for optimism. "He's not really offering a new prescription to deal with the violence on the ground in Iraq. Instead he's urging lawmakers to give him until September to see if the current troop increase will work. We know it will not work except to have our military in place when needed elsewhere in the middle east.
During his news conference the president commented on the nation's psyche, declaring, "There's war fatigue in America. It's affecting our psychology. I understand that. This is an ugly war. It's a war in which an enemy will kill innocent men, women and children in order to achieve a political objective. It doesn't surprise me that there is deep concern amongst our people." He is being commended for using the term war fatigue. I have heard him use it before but the biggest problem is not war fatigue but "Bush Fatigue"
Finally Bush says Congress should not be trying to run the war but neither should he. As I remember, he didn't complain about the Republican Congress doing it.

Before I get to the most striking mention of Vietnam to what is happening in Iraq with Bush I just want to mention that here is the entire White House Benchmark Report if you are interested.

Now this absolutely stunned me when I heard it this morning on WBZ Radio. In regard to Bush in my mind declaring "mission complete" on the aircraft Carrier after the initial surge into Baghdad I have to think about that but knowing for years now Bush has been advised by many that he cannot win militarily in Iraq as we know and he still insists on keeping our troops in this growing civil war, I heard this and it blew me away.
We always hear Iraq being compared to Vietnam but this morning I heard that Lyndon Johnson was told he could not win militarily for the first time in 1966. 95% of all the names on the Vietnam war "wall" memorial were put on there as a result of continuing the war after he was told he couldn't win militarily in 1966.
Bush is mirroring Vietnam and worse in every way, including in this respect.

Bush may as said he was doing what he wants, results or not instead of taking the stage to once again spew the same old tired lies of progress and sacrifice.
Bush has sacrificed nothing. He is wealthy so he pays no real taxes, his darling twin terrors are too busy partying to go to war, his Exxon buddies are collecting oil dollars for his secret trust, and his Halliburton faction has those billions of tax dollars tucked away to split, between them and Bush/Cheney once their tour of pain end.
Larry
I am so sick of his lying two faced garbage. You are right. He is going to do what he wants right or wrong and regardles of what anyone says he does, As the idiot once said, he would rather listen to his dog. Makes you want to choke the arrogant SOB.
Now that his Congress is gone he says it is not right for Congress to try and manage the war. Now that Patreaus if there to say what Bush wants to hear, the General in charge should be listened too.
The govt. report today said Al Qaeda is stronger than before 9/11 but Bush says he is gaining on them. He is an idiot. I thought Obama had it right and It put Bush's insistence on staying in that civil war after being advised he could not win it miritarily in proper contrast when I saw that after LBJ did the same thing and added 95% to the KIA on the Vietnam war memorial Wall.
amen brother!
Mario Cuomo was on Lou Dobbs saying Bush will end up following the Democrats and pull troops out, since the Repugs are leaving him.
I don't know where he has been hiding, but Bush has the Democrats scared, the Repugs craving Corporate dollars, and Bush and the troops aren't going anywhere.
iaffguy
where you been ? I needed you a while back and had to go elsewhere?
Larry
I have been hearing rumors of troop withdrawal being thought about but as you point out, there is no way in hell. They would all do well to fear Bush because he will not stop his new middle east order regardless. He will force a furtherance before Congress gets it together to stop him.
Democrats are scared as are many Republicans now but they all better get it together and forget about that and stop this idiot or we will all pay and we do not have much time left.
sorry man. next time call me. The number is on my site. ajschimneysweep.com
Did you see Bush smirking and smiling when he was talking about his "war fatigue" today Patriot........he loves the war, he relishes it......his speeches disgust me they remind me of Charley Brown/Snoopy when a stupid grownup is talking and all you hear is ................blah blah blah blah blah blah.............BS/lies........blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah.......more BS/lies........blah blah blah!!!!
He makes me sick, he's the cheerleader they trot out to sell the Neo Con agenda!
Bush is delusional..........Al Qaeda is definately stronger now BECAUSE of Bush's folly and ignorance, we are losing in Afghanistan.
Further Bush keeps flinging out this David Petraus guy like he is some unassiailable God that WE picked or something when the truth is Bush fired, silenced or forced out all the generals who spoke against him and opposed his policies and repeaterdly put in a shill loyal to him to buy time.......Petraus is merely the latest shill.
I'm so sick and tired of him mentioning David Petraus like he is some guy the liberal anti war crowd wanted and he magnanimously conceded and appointed him to appease us.......he's a repug shill loyal to GWB buying him time to run out the clock nothing more!

All right, A face. Last December when we needed a sweep I tried to contact you to no avail. I found Ajax but not this. I thought it might have been you but I did not get a return call.
We still need a cap to keep squirrels out but haven't acted on it yet. If I know of any friends that need your serice I will give your name. Stay in touch!
Right on Mike!
The idiot is truly happy about his wars. His obvious lies are sickening. It is debilitating to see the obvious lies and truth and be powerless to do anything about it.
That two faced, impish, lying, smirk on his face drives me crazy. You are right on with your comment. He is only the cheerleader and Cheney and Rove's are the real Deciders.
Mike
Once again you are entirely right! Al Qaeda as expected is stronger and more wide spread. The idiot has to deny the truth so he can stay his war course.
I am sick of hearing Patraeus name too. He is only using it and willing to listen to "his General" Because he now has one that is going to say what he wants.
That mess will not be won as Bush guaranteed a loss of everything when he against all good advice put our military in the middle east so he could prosecute his new order.
people talk and talk about Bush's smirks whenever he is asked about the war or any of his other disasters.
body language. he's telling us how happy he is about the messes he has created while mouthing words of sympathy and concern.
and, if Congress keeps on doing what it's been doing, we've got 556 more days of his talking out the side of his neck.
two crows
I have to laugh, I think I called you two toes didn't I? Knowing what that underhanded smirk and body language really mean is what makes it so hard to see and listen to him.
He loves his wars and will not stop for anyone. He will continue prosecuting his new societal, middle east, and world order, until he is gone.
It's funny seeing your day count reminds me that I am concerned he will declare martial law and cancel elections if he has too. When I get situated today I am going to put together a story of how the Dems can get in power in 2008 and undo everything he did as they want.
AP--
a couple of things:
1st-- these days Bush has to walk a fine line: on the one hand he has to convince us we are in dire peril if we don't blindly follow him because al qaida is coming to get us if we don't watch out.
and, on the other hand, he has to convince us that we have to blindly follow him because his splurge is working and he's got al qaida on the run.
poor li'l dubbya -- it must be SO hard convincing us he can have it both ways!
***
and 2nd--
I've long been concerned about his declaring martial law and calling off the elections next year 'for security reasons'. I wonder what congress will do THEN. oh, that's right, he will've dissolved it by then.
I've studied the 3rd Reich extensively [almost did my dissertation on it] and I know how insidiously the Nazi's went about their business while the people said, 'Hitler's an imbecile. He's no threat.' and felt safe and smug within their republic. and look where that got them.
so, I'm under no delusions about whether that could happen here. and it terrifies me.
oh and btw--
may I use that story about LBJ and Viet Nam in my blog?
Two Crows
Of course you can. I heard it on WBZ radio but it is regular knowledge. It just made me think that Bush is doing the same thing and how many will he kill after he was told years ago, even before he attacked, that he could not win militarily as any idiot knew.
thx--
I want to blog about it and, even if it is in the general domain, since this was the first I'd heard of it, it seemed only right to ask.
two crows
I was just meaning that the info has been out there but never mentioned. This was the first time I ever heard it too and that is what motivated me to put it in context with Bush. Again I thank you!
