Gay marriage victory: New York joins Massachusetts, Connecticut, Iowa, Vermont, and New Hampshire
Six states now currently allow same-sex couples to marry. In date order, those states are: Massachusetts, Connecticut, Iowa, Vermont and New Hampshire. The District of Columbia also now recognizes gay marriages as of March 3, 2010, we can safely add New York.
I am heterosexual but I am ecstatic States are starting to allow gay marriage. We are all the same like it or not. We all deserve the same rights. We are crossing an important line though and we should. In this instance at least we are outlawing bigotry! I get sick of Republicans saying we must protect the sanctity of marriage. Your marriage is still sanctified. The meaning of marriage will not change for anyone, only those that want the meaning changed for them.
As you know by now, gay marriage is now just a ride away for most New Englander's. Iowa, Vermont and Connecticut have joined Massachusetts in legalizing gay marriage. As the joke goes, hell everyone should be equally miserable.
Those in upper New York went to Canada and those near New York City went to Connecticut or Massachusetts. Now every State can go to New York to get married. I just think this is great! New law clears the way for gay marriage in New York: At New York City's Stonewall Inn, the Greenwich Village pub that spawned the gay rights movement on a June night in 1969, Scott Redstone watched New York pass a historic same-sex marriage law with his partner of 29 years, and popped the question.
Time is not on the side of those against gay marriage. The majority of those under 35 are pro gay marriage. People just want to be left alone.
There is a gathering storm in the Battle over same sex marriage. NOM has mounted a Campaign of lies to convince people that allowing Gays and Lesbians to marry is a danger and a threat to them. Supposedly there is an army of Gay marriage coming to a State near you. People are not going to be flocking tot New York to get married as some fear. Gay marriage will be coming to a State near you and I love it. Just wait!
I do not understand Republicans! Are they so shallow weak and insecure that they are threatened by everything that is counter to what they believe? I do not get it! I am a to each his or her own kind of guy. I could care less what someone else does. I have enough to worry about. I do not believe in forcing others to think and believe what I do. If you like it follow it if not have a nice day. I do not understand Republicans declaring war over everything they disagree with.
I can almost understand being against abortion as Republicans say it is about killing a life. Gay marriage has nothing to do with death so I do not get it. 55% want gay and lesbian marriage legalized and it should be. This is not the most important issue we are facing as Republicans say. It is the economy stupid! We are not redefining marriage. We are being all inclusive.
Let Gays and Lesbians get married and use a justice of the peace not a church. That should satisfy everyone. I am sick of the lame argument that your marriage is under attack. Anyone who feels their marriage will change because of someone else's marriage needs help and should go see a marriage counselor!

Could America Graduate from the Electoral College? Yes we must
Could America Graduate from the Electoral College?
Massachusetts Nears a Change to Electoral Votes
We must Cancel the antiquated Electoral College Then Politicians must take Blogging 101 to Prove they're doing the Peoples work to get elected!
We discuss the countries problems all day every day not only here but on many Liberal Blogs and on the other side Conservatives do it on their Blogs. However, we need to stop wasting our time and talking the issues amongst ourselves and implement a system in which we are heard. We can do this! What "We the people" think should be heard and required to be acted on as a prerequisite to being elected or reelected. We have been burned not only by the last Republican MIS Administration but by inadequate public representatives from both parties.
However thinking about it more these solutions are even more basic and comprehensive and voting time is rapidly creeping upon us again as our attention is diverted to the many problems around the world. The issue of solving our election problems so another election is not stolen and "'We the people" are heard and our thoughts acted on are more important than ever and I have a very viable way to accomplish this but we must get our solutions heard where it matters and have them acted on. Tell me what you think!
First, we must Abolish the antiquated Electoral College. that served the peoples purpose when we could not get ourselves heard in rural America. As we learned with Bush it now represents the interests of the Politicians. We are capable of going to the polls today and speaking for ourselves. While on the subject of a system working for the Politicians we must also throw out these new electronic voting systems because they can be tampered with casting any vote the tamperer wants and you ca not detect it. Paper trail or not it is worthless because you cannot prove the vote was real.
Technology is not the voters friend! Technology is the Politicians friend! Anyway 2ndly we must as a prerequisite to running pass a requirement that every single politician or perspective Politician must make an enforceable promise to do the work of their constituents and America not their special Interest handlers. While having to take a course about the top Blogs from their party to know what their constituents want and make them responsible for speaking for the people and not them and special interests.
Politicians must prove performance. We have got to hod them accountable. We do not care what Politicians think. They are supposed to care about what we think. They are supposed to represent "we the people" not we the Politicians.
Our Government of the people, for the people, by the people, facilitated by society, has become a Government of the Politician, for the affluent, by the media, facilitated by the so called legal system. This has got to change. We have got to take "our America" back. It is imperative to the countries future and we owe it to our kids.
Just this second I got off the phone with one of my sons that just got back from Afghanistan. Of course the conversation turned to Politics. I explained what I am saying right now and laid the future of his kids and country on his shoulders. He must for his children take an active role in cleaning up this mess. He is still determined to go to Iraq next year. He is EOD and I don't like it but some of these idiots my son included find some perverse pleasure in this.
I am afraid Bush will keep him busier than he wants regardless of who is President or who gets elected next. He wants to retire after 20 years and that is 10 years away. I can only pray that he makes it and survives paying off Bush's trillions in debt he put on their shoulders to be paid when he is gone. Boy are our kids getting a screwing!
We do need a grassroots movement in order to get rid of the electoral College, take the courts out of our Election process, give the process too the people who it is supposed to represent, and return to a verifiable paper process, so the entire process can be monitored and truly representative of the people and their desires.
This will not happen as long as we leave it up to the Politicians. They will try to manipulate the process in their Political favor as seems to be the prevailing thought process today. That is the case in every instance in today's Political environment and is the primary reason for the majority of the countries problems today. How can "We the People" get involved and ensure that a voting system representative of the people not special interests is in place in the entire country.

Was Teddy's stellar career working for the people in the Senate because of remorse and atonement for Chappaquiddick?

Kennedy Memoir: Chappaquiddick 'inexcusable'
The First Draft: Teddy's Life of Remorse and Atonement
Kennedy Memoir: Chappaquiddick 'inexcusable' Did Mary Jo Kopechne end up unknowingly sacrifice her life for the benefit of all Americans as Teddy's Senate achievments in trying to atone for what he did to her ended up benefitting "favorably" every living American?
Whether you liked him or not as you know there was Chappaquiddick and it ended his dreams of a Presidency but he served us better as a US Senator for the down trodden the elderly and those without. He served 46 years, Kennedy was the 2nd most senior member of Congress, the 3rd longest serving Senator in History. He fought for a fair and more just America the whole time. Health care was his passion! I see a Health care reform Bill being passed now as a tribute to Senator Kennedy! Top Democrats vowed to fight for it to honor Kennedy. He said we will all live on in the future we make. Well let us make it!
Teddy secured a waiver to establish a health care Bill in Massachusetts! 1964 American Civil Rights act
1966 passed first common health law
Legacies include the American fair housing Act and the American Disabilities Act!
He was responsible for giving 18 year olds the right to vote.
1969 he gave his first speech on health care
Meals on wheels and ending the draft we owe him for too!
* He personally touched 2500 major pieces of legislation 300 of which were passed into law!
* In 2009 Kennedy's committee was the first to pass health care reform! We can all be thankful Ted Kennedy remained in the Senate and served us all, we are all better for it and I rest knowing he died a happy accomplished man!
He said often at key times"For all those whose cares have been our concern, the work goes on, the cause endures, the hope still lives and the dream shall never die." How do we remember Teddy Kennedy the last of the Kennedy men? His Irishness? His Compassion? His sense of Humor? His senate long fight for health care? His devotion to the common man? Chappaquiddick? teddys-life-of-remorse-and-atonement?

My tribute to my Senator, Teddy Kennedy plus Ted Kennedy's triumphs, trials captured on video

Ted Kennedy's triumphs, trials captured on video
Ted Kennedy: Family senator, patriarch, dead at 77
Massachusetts son Senator Edward Kennedy 1932-2009! Ted Kennedy friend and mentor on both sides of the aisle was a fierce Partisan, a tough customer and a great man! Being a life long resident of Massachusetts the Kennedy's have always been a part of my life. Ted Kennedy's passing truly is the end of an era. He was the last man standing, the last of his brothers. He will rejoin his brothers John and Robert at Arlington cemetery, date still unknown!
Ted Kennedy end up having a hand in everything but when he first went to the Senate as the youngest of 9 children no one expected much from him. Many believed he only won the seat because his brother was the President. Boy did he pleasantly surprise. Yes there was Chappaquiddick and it ended his dreams of a Presidency but I think he served us better as a US Senator!

From Top to Bottom Government, corporations, planners on every level have failed us and payment is just Beginning!
Failing bridges, tunnels. mines, failing Government, it is catching us
Part of the most expensive Boondoggle in the countries history this new bridge is Boston already has problems.
This is the $900 million dollar giant Golf ball design failure built to defend our failing system and we do not really know if it works. This facade of security is crashing!
Yesterday I ended my day with a discussion with another concerned citizen about Government and so called leader failing on all levels and how much trouble we are in and how much worse it is going to get. I know I am not the only one that thinks we are heading the way of the Roman Empire and Bush has sped the process up exponentially. We see rampant corruption in Iraq and around America as Corporations race to make the mighty buck leaving us and our welfare behind. We are finding out the hard way that those we entrusted to maintain our systems and infrastructure were not thinking of us or thinking at all. I am disgusted at the level of ineptitude.
Anyway the current mine disaster seems to be indicative of the constant drive to make a buck while maintaining a failing system and getting away. This is all uncoscionable, detrimental to our America, and we must turn this harmful practice around if wa are to have a successful future. It is fine to make a dollar but doing things right, safety, and putting America first must start now or we are in serious trouble.
I am from Massachusetts and I woke up this morning to hear that not only is the Big Dig Debacle corrupt and full of deceit, puposeful inadequacies. and shortcuts. just to make money at the expense of honesty, average Americans, and our America as I have written in the past http://anaverageamericanpatriot.blog/

At $14.6 Billion and climbing daily with constant repairs this is the most expensive purposely corrupted construction project ever in America that will never end I just found out that the beautiful bridge they built as part of the project already also has built in inadequacies.
A new federal report on the Big Dig raises concerns about warped steel anchor plates on the Leonard Zakim Bridge in Boston. A U.S. Department of Transportation inspector general report asked state officials to take a closer look at the safety risk posed by anchor plates which connect the bridge's cables to its steel girders. They just built the damn thing and already Six warped plates were found on the bridge.
Federal officials said the anchor plates posed a higher safety risk than state officials found in their stem-to-stern safety review of the Big Dig last November. Federal officials also called for additional testing to assess the effects of high-temperature fires on Big Dig tunnels, saying a "high-temperature" fire could cause ceiling panel anchors to fail. They are testing the venerated Ted Williams tunnel because they are concerned the tunnel can not withstand a fire caused by two trucks crashing because it was only designed to with stand a one truck fire.
I find that unbelievable as it only seems to be common sense to me but as we are finding to be the norm. only tested tosatisfy the legal system. I am not an engineer but I want to do things right and be honest. It seems only common sense to ask relevant questions and build something that withstands a worse case4 scenario. It seems that over time that scenario very often comes up.

The bridge failure in Minneapolis is bound to be repeated due to rampant lack of attention, money, and concern as is the mining disaster. I am stunned at the money grubbing failures allowed because of lack of planning or concern for average Americans and our America. our entire infrastructure is failing and it has purposely been allowed to happen as saving money has consistently been put ahead of saving lives.
We have purposely built in failure by uncaring, unthinking, selfish, so called experts. To top it off just think about this! I also ran into this story on the missile defense System failure designed supposedly to protect our failing infrastrusture. I must admit, this entire part of this system was unknown to me and I guess purposely so.
Anyway, The military's $900 million, 28-story-tall missile defense radar is Designed to keep an eye out for rogue missiles flying toward the United States, the SBX had been scheduled to report for duty in Alaska in early 2006, but a series of structural repairs and upgrades have kept it in warmer waters. For over a year, the nine-story radar that sits atop a self-propelled Norwegian oil platform has been coming and going from Pearl Harbor for fixes and test a delay critics see as symptomatic of an agency under pressure to deliver a national missile defense system that is still more fiction than fact.
The 280-foot high, $900 million gizmo will soon be scanning the horizon for enemy threats, joining the growing suite of land-, sea- and space-based technologies that the MDA claims is the nation's first functional national missile defense system. Shortly after arriving in Hawaii, the MDA ordered an assessment of the radar's rig, which resulted in a $27-million to-do list before it could be declared operational.
Improvements include everything from rethinking the platform's ballast system to installing anti-slip surfaces on its decks. When you read that report, you have to wonder what the people who designed the thing where thinking,"
The MDA claims the SBX is powerful enough to spot a flying baseball in San Francisco from New York, and more importantly, to tell the difference between a real missile heading for America and a decoy.
A Giant 'Golfball' for Missile Defense*
I just do not understand the American penchant today to be inadequate at the expense of us and "our America. We do not even know if this thing works and Russia and China are again holding joint military manuevers and both warning us about our east Asia ventures. Not only is our failing infrastructure cathing up with us but our failing Government and policies from the top down is too. Somebody has to wake up and quick. Corporations and Government have got to start doing the right thing and putting the people and America first or we are in serious trouble. What will it take for them to realize we are in trouble and it will get worse.

Don't keep dealing with the results of the problem Deal with the source of the problem!
This morning when my alarm went off the first thing I heard had me thinking all morning because it just didn't make sense and as an ex cost Manager I believed in getting rid of the problem source not dealing with the problem whenever it cropped back up. Thinking of the countries and the worlds problems I found myself wishing it was as easy as applying that rule. Does anyone or anything come to mind?
The issue that got me thinking this morning was an Amendment Proposal here in Boston banning Pit Bulls. There has been a rash of pit Bull attacks here and I am sure everywhere but it does not seem like banning Pit Bulls is a rational answer. As I said, I was always of the frame of mind that instead of dealing with the problem every time it reoccurs you get rid of the source of the problem and the problems gone for good.
I understand Pit bulls are vicious or so we are led to believe. I happen to think the problem is the people who train them to be viscous. To me the idea should be to go after those that teach any dog or animal regardless of breed, to be vicious and hold them accountable. If you would like to sign a petition to stop this ban in your State
here is the petition. http://www.thepetitionsite.com/takeaction/199597800?ltl=1179149298
After listening to the mornings dose of problems many of them attributable to Bush I wish it would be so easy an answer as to just get rid of him. I got an email this morning from http://www.worldcantwait.org/ saying,
Is 2008 too late to get rid of Bush? What could the Bush administration do in the next 20 months? I think it is too late! Think about what the chief idiot can do to us, Iran, Iraq, the middle east and the world in 20 months.
Just as I am putting this together I hear Bush making another proposal he wants put into effect after he is gone. First it was in regard to paying off his trillions of Dollars in debt. This day it is in regard to gas consumption, he wants it cut by 2010. I am sick of hearing our biggest problem is oil consumption and dependency. Our biggest problem is Bush. I wish we could just get rid of him. Too bad there is no such thing as a Do Over!

425 Stories on Romney This Morning And only Boston had the Meat and Potatoes Issue of HealthCare!
I have to tell you, this morning the news and stories were filled with the usual preponderance of corruption and Bush Cheney idiocy with a smattering of China trade issues thrown in for good measure. Being in and from Boston I awoke this morning to hear what should be a very important issue knowing the standing of Mitt Romney as being number one right now at 38% as he endeavors to become the Republican Presidential nominee.
I first find it necessary to remind some that a year and a half ago I warned people of Romney and his two faced Bush wannabe Politics and that he would follow suit and say and do anything to get elected and follow Bush's miscourse. Remember The Big Dig Debacle which ran rampant under Romney's guidance and the following great program that Romney wants to emulate for the entire country.
Remember how Romney's Health Care program that he has forced on Massachusetts citizens as being one of a kind and a model for the rest of the country to follow? Well, I had to laugh when I heard the news this morning as to the reality of this great plan for the people.
However when I tried to find the backup for the news it was nowhere to be found. Instead I found 425 stories, every one of them about the supposed bigotry expressed by Al Sharpton towards Romney and supposedly LDS Latter Day Saints or Mormons as most know them. I have to admit I am no fan of Al Sharpton's but after hearing him say that his reference towards God believing people holding sway in the upcoming Presidential elections was towards the atheist he was debating, I am inclined to believe him atleast it can be construed that way which seems to be a standard Political Ploy today.
However true to form Romney made an issue of Sharpton's statement of course to be used for Political gain.
Republican presidential contender Mitt Romney on Wednesday criticized a remark about Mormons by the Rev. Al Sharpton and described it as "bigoted" and "un-American." Sharpton, a civil rights leader, said during a New York debate on faith on Monday that "those that really believe in God" would defeat Romney, a Mormon, in the 2008 race for the White House. Sharpton, who led recent criticism of radio talk show host Don Imus for racially insensitive remarks, later said he was not questioning Romney's faith but was aiming his comments at author and atheist Christopher Hitchens, who he was debating.
"It was a very unfortunate and un-American thing to say," Romney, the former governor of Massachusetts, said. "I think it was a bigoted statement and I have no interest in seeing bigoted statements about my faith or anyone else's faith put into the public discourse." Of course Sharpton accused him of creating controversy to help his campaign. Creating Division as you know is a Rove's taught tactic Bush employs at every chance. http://www.reuters.com/...
I do happen to believe the jab was directed towards the Atheist but pointed at Romney but Romney's capitalizing on the issue paid off while the important issue remains undiscussed.
Catholics and evangelicals came to the LDS Church's and GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney's defense Wednesday, calling on the Rev. Al Sharpton to answer for suggesting Mormons don't believe in God. The Catholic League called for Sharpton to "be held accountable for his bigoted outburst" and suggesting it "should finish his career," just as Don Imus' recent racist statements resulted in the cancellation of his radio show. Sharpton was among Imus' harshest critics.
The Rev. Rob Schenck, an evangelical minister who heads the National Clergy Council, issued a statement calling on Sharpton to "immediately apologize to Mr. Romney and the good people of the LDS Church and repent before God for such sinful hubris. http://deseretnews.com/...
Evangelicals and Catholics expressed solidarity with Romney so right or wrong the creation of a non issue once again was used to successfully push a political agenda while the real issue has not been discussed and I have not been able to find outside of Boston.
That is Romney's great Healthcare for all plan he wants in the whole country. Taxpayers are bearing a larger share of the cost of the expansion of healthcare coverage than expected because the state has not yet collected a penny from businesses that do not help insure their workers.
Penalties on those businesses were expected to bring in $95 million this fiscal year and $76 million next year, according to the Legislature's estimates when the bill was signed into law a year ago.
But the state now expects to collect nothing in the fiscal year that ends June 30, and only $24 million next year, according to budget officials in Governor Deval Patrick's administration and in the House of Representatives. Please read the story at the link and look at the voodoo expecting to make this morasse work and it will not http://www.boston.com/...
I figured in one year the State of Massachusetts is going to be hit to the tune of $150 million to be paid by the taxpayer. That is not to speak of the fact that many are now forced to buy Health Insurance they cannot afford. If they could they would already have it. This is only one small State folks! This is once again a windfall for businesses in the true meaning of Bush Politics. I do firmly believe that a Democrat will be elected in 2008 so in the end this will all be worthless I hope. I am just sickened to see that Bush's two faced Politics are still being espoused and again by a supposed man of God. Oh man!

Oh man!
