With MLK and Obama, I had a Dream! Or is it a nightmare?

As a festive Capital readies for Obama's inauguration I do not know what it means to you beyond hope but I will tell you what it means to me! It is much more! A festive capital readies for Obama inauguration

High security for Obama's inauguration BBC News High security that is what I want to talk about!

This whole process from beginning to end in the making of President Obama has impressed me to no end! Not one step along the way has failed to impress! Even the world feels the promise of this man at this dire time! That in itself concerns me knowing Obama is touted as another Abraham Lincoln (as he rode his train and prepares to swear in using his Bible) and a JFK unifier and we know what happened to them.

* There are 2 million spectators expected to be there to experience this great moment "I Hope" One of them is one of my sons who has been there for a few days already clearing the Mall area as well as the parade route. I have a lot of concerns but relying on my son to do his job and do it right is not one of them. Jim is excessively disciplined and professional. As a EOD Explosive ordinace expert he commands a lot of respect. As such he has been chosen as a team leader for an EOD Evaluation tem meaning he will be overseeing others to make sure nothing is overlooked or if there is a problem that it is dispatched correctly! I approach the inauguration still with concern! I saw the high level of security he has especially when he is working the crowds as I expect he will be doing at the inauguration.

* I have my concerns and this morning listening to Larry King Live they were brought to the forefront by an innocent statement! Roland Martin in a discussion about the cool commanding demeanor of Obama described Obama as cool, calm, and collective. Someone you want to give the ball too when time is running out! A real Assasin! Knowing one of my great concerns is assassination or killing him in a supposed accident as happens too much these days like almost happened during his campaign when his replacement plane almost went down in a freak accident, Yes I am concerned!

Those who follow me know I fear that for Obama, us, and the world. Do you know the mayhem and chaos that would ensue and justify martial order? I am still very concerned and will not declare victory until we have kept hope alive (President Obama) long enough to finish his Presidency and hopefully fulfill his promises!

My concern is heightened by a report I saw yesterday that according to the FBI and CIA Barack Obama has already received more death threats than any President elect in history. More Death Threats Than Any Other President - NAM He isn't even President yet!

I have said it many times but I firmly believe the right is behind these assassinations that have never been adequately resolved and never will be! For now let us focus on the promise of President Obama!

I have heard much as to the historic significance of this moment, his Presidency because he is a black man. I am sure I am different in this regard too but that is not even a thought of mine.

* I can not stop thinking of the historic proportions of this moment not because of his color but because of the historic possibilities of Obama succeeding in giving us back our America and repairing Bush's colossal damage to us and around the entire world! God or somebody help us keep hope (Obama) alive!

As officials are bracing for election woes I am very concerned as I firmly expect this one to be stolen too despite millions of votes already cast!

Election Day will be something of an afterthought for tens of millions of Americans — they'll be voting well ahead of time. In fact, six weeks out from Election Day, some voters in Kentucky, South Carolina and Virginia already are done. Nationwide, about a third of the electorate is expected to vote early this year, thanks to expanded early voting provisions and fewer restrictions on absentee voting, researchers project. In all, more than 30 states allow any registered voter to cast an early ballot, some in person and others by mail. Greg Dearing, of Louisville, Ky., locked in his ballot for Barack Obama on Thursday. "I'm usually a straight party voter," said Dearing, who will be vacationing in California on Nov. 4. "It would take something very far-fetched to make me regret my vote."

Early voting has been on the increase in recent years: In 2004, 22 percent of voters cast an early presidential ballot; in 2000, 16 percent voted early. It's a trend that is fundamentally changing the home stretch of American political campaigns. October surprises? They'd better come in September if campaigns want to influence every vote. Get out the vote operations? They're already under way in some states. Even the presidential debate series, which begins Friday and runs through Oct. 15, will come after many have voted. However, experts say the earliest voters tend to be party loyalists who wouldn't be swayed by debate performances anyway. Across the nation, election officials are reporting high demand for absentee ballots. Ballots already are available in a few states, and they will be ready in about 20 more this week. By the first week of October, absentee voting will have started in all but a handful of states. In most states, all registered voters will be eligible to vote absentee, and a growing number will take advantage.

None of the early votes will be counted until Election Day, and in some states it could take days or weeks to count all absentee ballots. But in most states, the campaigns will be able to determine well ahead of Nov. 4 who's voted early. Want the campaigns to stop bombarding you with fliers and phone calls? Vote early. "That's one less person we need to put a get-out-the-vote call to and one less person we need to send a mailer to," said Nathan Treloar, communications director for the Iowa Republican Party. Oregon is 100 percent vote by mail, and Washington state is getting close. Early voting in Colorado, Nevada, Tennessee and Arizona could top 40 percent or even 50 percent of total votes cast. Absentee voting starts in early October in Minnesota, and thousands already have requested ballots, including a few snowbirds who stopped by the Edina city clerk's office on their way out of town. Early voting is relatively new in hotly contested Ohio. A third of electorate may vote b4 election day!

I won't but every early vote is one more we do not have to worry about being stolen! Despite our many efforts to get rid of all the machines many are still around and I am concerned this election will be the worst yet! Faced with a surge in voter registrations leading up to Nov. 4, election officials across the country are bracing for long lines, equipment failures and confusion over polling procedures that could cost thousands the chance to cast a ballot.
The crush of voters will strain a system already in the midst of transformation, with jurisdictions introducing new machines and rules to avoid the catastrophe of the deadlocked 2000 election and the lingering controversy over the 2004 outcome. Even within the past few months, cities and counties have revamped their processes: Nine million voters, including many in the battleground states of Ohio, Florida and Colorado, will use equipment that has changed since March.

But the widespread changes meant to reassure the public have also increased the potential for trouble. "You change systems and throw in lots of new voters, and you can plan to be up the proverbial creek," said Kimball Brace, president of Election Data Services, a consulting firm that has tracked the voting changes. Both campaigns have lined up teams of lawyers to challenge any irregularities, from registrations to polling place problems to vote counts. And experts say the problems ahead will be formidable, even if they don't rise to the level of the Supreme Court challenge over the 2000 results. "The voting process is going to be tested in a way it has not been in recent history," said Tova Wang, vice president for research at Common Cause, a government watchdog group. Recent local primaries have offered warning signs.

In the District last week, initial tallies were inflated by thousands of votes, causing chaos that night, and officials have yet to explain the problem. In Palm Beach County, Fla., more than 3,500 ballots went missing in an August primary, forcing workers to hunt through bins and leaving a judicial election still undecided. That same day, equipment problems in two other Florida jurisdictions delayed results for hours. Premier Election Solutions, the company that makes many of the nation's voting machines, last month acknowledged that software used in 34 states, including Virginia and Maryland, could cause votes to be dropped. The company, formerly called Diebold, said it has no fix for the problem now, but election officials can catch the errors and recover the votes through a routine process of double-checking electronic memory cards. Any weak spots in the process in November, whether poorly trained poll workers, a confusing ballot design or faulty equipment, will be further stressed by turnout, including many first-time voters. Officials brace for unprecedented mess

Personally I am stunned not that the machines are still around but that we let them get away with keeping them. They are solely designed to steal elections! I expect a host of distasteful scenarios to occur this fall. The right will not stop this agenda no. It is too far along and the abusive power gained can not be allowed in Dem hands! Well now we are hearing increasingly that the election is too close to call. White House says the election too close to call That means a third stolen election! What will they do this time?

As you know, we have been living a lie for almost 8 years now! Rove, Bush, Cheney, Ashcroft, Gonzo, Mukasey, Rummy, 9/11, the phony commission hearings, the Government's Anthrax attacks on Democrats and average Americans so Bush could get his abusive power from the Patriot Act so he could subvert our America and the world. Letting our infrastructure fail, manufacturing our financial collapse, etc, etc, etc, we are living a lie and it is coming to a head. What are they going to do this fall? How are they going to steal this one to keep this Fascist agenda going?

Much has been made of Obama opting out of public Financing and McCain is making the most of dirtying Obama but I don't know if it is good or Bad?

I just don't know what to think but supposedly Sen. Barack Obama's decision to forgo public financing for his presidential campaign clears the way for him to outspend Sen. John McCain by 3-to-1 or substantially more in the general election, a financial edge that dramatically rewrites the playbooks for both candidates. With Possibility the key word: Sen. Barack Obama's decision to forgo public financing for his presidential campaign clears the way for him to outspend Sen. John McCain by 3-to-1 or substantially more in the general election, a financial edge that dramatically rewrites the playbooks for both candidates.

With the possibility of spending perhaps $500 million just in the final two months of the campaign, Obama will be the first major-party candidate to enjoy a spending edge in the general election in more than 30 years. The comparison with the consistently cash-strapped McCain campaign could hardly be more stark. "It'll be like George Steinbrenner's Yankees in the '90s — an All-Star at every position — against the '90s Kansas City Royals, barely able to meet their payroll," said Chris Lehane, a Democratic consultant who worked for Al Gore in 2000 and John Kerry in 2004

Though Obama risks a short-term political backlash by seeming to go back on his word, Democratic and Republican strategists say most campaigns would take such a hit in exchange for the unprecedented cash advantage he'll derive. McCain said Thursday he will accept public financing, meaning he'll be limited to spending only $84.1 million in the critical window between the Republican National Convention and Election Day. He'll be forced to lean more heavily on the Republican National Committee and outside groups that he cannot legally coordinate spending decisions with.

In that same time period, Obama will continue to be free to raise and spend unlimited amounts — with advertising specialists and party insiders projecting that he will bring in hundreds of millions of dollars, utilizing and expanding on the most efficient fundraising operation in American political history. "He's going to be able to raise almost unimaginable amount of money," said Tad Devine, a Democratic strategist who was a top adviser in the Gore and Kerry campaigns. "This is an incredible advantage for him and his campaign. He'll be able to dictate the terms of this election." Obama opts out of public financing

I don't know about that and I think a can of worms has been opened! Of course Republicans slammed the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee’s decision to abandon an earlier pledge to use the more than $84 million in public money if his Republican rival did the same. McCain’s campaign and supporters said the Illinois senator showed his true colors as a dyed-in-the-wool Washington player. And McCain said Thursday in Minnesota that “we will take public financing.” “Rather than sending a message that he’s about change or a new type of politics in America, it really looks and sounds like he’s about the same old … type of politics in America,” Republican Texas Sen. John Cornyn told FOX News. “The thing that is most important in terms of an office holder or a politician’s relationship with his constituents or the people is trust. And frankly when a politician says one thing and does another it erodes that trust,” Cornyn said. “It’s just another chink in the armor but a lot these things will add up over time.”

In Iowa, McCain criticized his rival for backtracking, reminding reporters that Obama “said he would stick to his word. He didn’t.” The Republican candidate added, “This election is about a lot of things. It’s also about trust. It’s about keeping your word.” A statement issued by the McCain campaign said Obama “has revealed himself to be just another typical politician who will do and say whatever is most expedient for Barack Obama … Barack Obama is now the first presidential candidate since Watergate to run a campaign entirely on private funds.” Even Democratic Wisconsin Sen. Russ Feingold, who worked with Obama on an ethics and lobbying reform bill last year, called Obama’s financing decision “a mistake” in a statement Thursday. “This is not a good decision. While the current public financing system for the presidential primaries is broken, the system for the general election is not,” he said. Having numerically clinched the GOP nomination, McCain says he will accept public funds for the general election — but Obama has gradually eased off his earlier pledge.

Obama and his supporters argue his reason for doing so speaks to his ambitions as a reformer. Obama has already “rewritten the book when it comes to financing campaigns” by rejecting Washington lobbyist and political action committee contributions, Illinois Sen. Dick Durbin, an Obama supporter, told FOX News.Durbin said that with his broad-based network of small donors, “He’s really behind reform and showing he can do it.”Obama, in his video announcement to supporters on Thursday, cast his approach as progressive, saying his supporters helped him build a “new kind of politics” where candidates don’t rely on a small pool of mega-contributors from inside the Beltway. Obama argued that the public financing system is “broken, and we face opponents who’ve become masters at gaming this broken system.” Look at the arguments

* Like you I happen to agree with Obama and I fear it will happen once again! Yes Obama is raising funds to combat the Republicans to the tune of 3 to one but the RNC is vastly better funded than the DNC. Correct me if I am wrong but can't the RNC infuse all the money they want in an effort to defame and dirty Obama and steal their false Republican God into the Presidency once again to continue their underhanded agenda?

Gore Backs Obama rips Bush Obama vows preelection visit to Israel, to visit Iraq, Billions to repair our failing infrastructure, This is a winner! ???

I wanted to discuss the fact that the Midwest is still flooding levees are failing and at last count there are 26 in danger of failing. I also wanted to discuss the US dropping leaflets warning residents to move out of the Taliban held towns in Afghanistan before NATO forces try to recapture them. I wanted to discuss also the chief idiot going to visit the flooded areas so he can lie to them too saying he will help them like he helped everyone else in disaster areas, Not! I also wanted to discuss that not only has Bush created an opium haven in Afghanistan to financially support our enemies and to supply single handedly more than the entire world can consume but with his wars in Iraq and Afghanistan he has also created half of the worlds 11.2 million displaced peoples. However as seems to happen every day now I have to digress. Today for an unusual change it is for good news!

By now everyone knows Former Vice President Al Gore endorsed Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama on Monday, urging Americans to reject what he called the Bush administration's legacy of "incompetence, negligence and failure." He said "Americans simply cannot afford to continue the policies of the last eight years for another four," Gore, the party's 2000 presidential nominee, told Obama supporters at a rally in Detroit, Michigan. Perceived as a senior statesman in the Democratic party, Gore brings a certain force to Obama's campaign, political analysts have said. Monday marked Gore's debut in the 2008 election; he had not weighed in while Obama was still battling Sen. Hillary Clinton. Amid thousands of cheering supporters, Gore began by addressing head-on the criticism that Obama doesn't have enough experience to lead the nation.

* I really liked this part as The former vice president turned Nobel Prize winner playfully said he recalled one Republican nominee wondering out loud whether his Democratic rival for president was "naive and inexperienced." "And yet another said the United States cannot afford to risk the future of the free world with inexperience and immaturity in the White House," said Gore. "Who were they talking about? Every single one of those quotes came from the campaign of 1960, when the the Republicans attacked John Fitzgerald Kennedy for allegedly lacking the age and experience necessary to be president." Richard Nixon was the Republican nominee in 1960. Joining Obama in the midst of the candidate's two week swing through the nation to talk about his plans to revitalize the economy, Gore praised Obama as someone who could mobilize people, young and old, who had never before taken part in politics. Gore went on to praise the nominee's vision on the environment, domestic and international issues. Saying he will do whatever he can to support Obama's bid for the White House, Gore said Obama has "inspired" him. "I feel that same spirit in this auditorium tonight, building all over this country this year," he said. "Take it from me, elections matter," Gore said.

"If you think the next appointments to our Supreme Court are important, you know that elections matter. If you live in the city of New Orleans, you know that elections matter. If you or a member of your family are serving in the active military, the National Guard or Reserves, you know that elections matter. "If you are a wounded veteran, you know that elections matter. If you've lost your job; if you're struggling with a mortgage, you know that elections matter. Gore cited concerns about the environment, lead-painted toys and food safety -- even pet foods -- as other reasons to vote for the Democrat. "After the last eight years, even our dogs and cats have learned that elections matter," Gore said, adding, "After eight years of lost jobs and lower wages, we need change. After eight years of incompetence, negligence and failure, we need change." Gore said the Bush administration has "dishonored and disrespected" the Constitution and led the nation through "eight years of the most serious foreign policy mistakes in the entire history of our nation." as we all know is true and is just scratching the surface! He also He called for Americans to move beyond partisanship and select in Obama a leader who can "solve the climate crisis and create a bright future." Al Gore backs Obama for president you can also watch it

It gets even better as Obama reportedly plans to visit Israel before the U.S. presidential election in November. The Democrat's likely candidate announced this week that he will tour Iraq and Afghanistan ahead of his showdown with the Republican's likely nominee, John McCain. Citing sources in the Obama campaign, Yediot Achronot reported Tuesday that the candidate also will come to Israel for talks with Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and other top officials. Obama is seen as anxious to burnish his national security credentials. Good idea

He was also wise to deflate McCain on the Iraq issue as A day after his Republican counterpart sat down with visiting Iraqi foreign minister Hoshyar Zebari, Barack Obama spoke with him by phone from Chicago Monday morning and told him that he looked forward to seeing him in Baghdad before November. Obama calls Iraq promises pre McCain debate visit you can watch this too

To top off the days good news on Obama he also proposed spending billions to revitalize the nation's economy, a plan the campaign of his likely Republican opponent said would slow economic growth with higher taxes. During an economic speech in Flint, Michigan, Obama promised to spend billions to improve America's education, infrastructure, energy and health care systems. To improve America's competitiveness, the senator from Illinois said he wants to spend $10 billion on childhood education, $150 billion over 10 years on developing alternative energy and $60 billion over 10 years to build "21st century infrastructure." Obama said he would pay for these programs by ending the war in Iraq, reducing government waste, charging polluters for greenhouse gas emissions and ending the Bush tax cuts for wealthy individuals. This is right but of course dead wrong by war mongering Republicans

*Obama is really making his stride and rapidly saying and doing the right things in order to become our saviour I mean President as long as we can keep him alive and we even have fair elections or any elections at all if Israel attacks Iran and Bush steps in to help them before elections thereby staying at the helm of this mess!

What about an Obama Hillary ticket and end this as under growing veil of Gloom, Pelosi wants it continued? Limbaugh & Republicans target Obama!

A Democratic Unity Ticket with Obama as president and Hillary as vice president would satisfy party factions, lower the temperature, lead to a landslide victory in November. Obama would bring to the marriage the young, the black, and the liberal suburbanites. Hillary would attract her proven constituency of older voters, women, whites, workers and Hispanics. On to victory. Yesterday I heard that Hillary wants Veep. I don't know if Obama can handle her and Bill but that would work for me.

Meanwhile this is getting worse! It ain't over 'til it's over, but a growing number of Hillary Rodham Clinton's closest friends now think it's really over. A veil of gloom descended on Clinton's campaign Wednesday, with people close to her questioning how long the former first lady could -- or should -- remain in the race following a surprisingly thin Indiana win and blowout loss in North Carolina on Tuesday. "I don't see any way she can put this together any more -- she can't win the popular vote or the delegate count -- so what's the rationale?" said a major Clinton supporter from New York, speaking on condition of anonymity. "I think the challenge now is letting her leave with dignity and grace and letting the process go forward. She has got to leave on a high note. She's got to determine her own exit strategy." Clinton's growing veil of Gloom

To make it even worse is trying to keep this mess going: The race for the Democratic presidential nomination is "alive and well" and must continue, according to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. "The people should all have the opportunity to speak as long as two candidates wish to compete in those primaries and caucuses," Pelosi said during a news conference Wednesday to promote Democratic energy proposals. "In a few weeks, we will be on our way to nominating the next president of the United States." Sen. Hillary Clinton is facing renewed pressure to drop out of the race following Tuesday's double-digit loss to Sen. Barack Obama in North Carolina and a narrow win in Indiana. Pelosi, D-California, said either candidate would be a great president. She said the "tremendous turnout" is "something positive that is coming out of this race." Asked if she could see any path to victory for Clinton, Pelosi said, "You never know in elections." Pelosi says race should continue

What the hell is wrong with this Republican wanabe? we have spoken, we want it over but I think we can really seal the Presidency but we better hurry up or we will be fighting on two fronts here to our detriment too!

For weeks Senator John McCain, the presumptive Republican nominee, has directed his most pointed barbs at Senator Obama. The Republican National Committee features an anti-Obama advertisement on its website home page, which has no mention of Senator Clinton. And at least one independent group that had ads attacking Senator Clinton is compiling new ones attacking Senator Obama. Officials in the McCain campaign team and at the Republican National Committee say that they have not counted Senator Clinton out, but some Republicans say the outcome is clear. "Right now Hillary Clinton may not be able to do the math, but Republicans have been for the last couple of weeks," said Kevin Madden, a Republican consultant.
Some of the issues that Republicans are beginning to raise paint a picture of what the election strategy against Senator Obama might look like. This includes using Senator Obama's support for withdrawing US troops from Iraq to portray him as weak on national security and his opposition to suspending the federal gas tax this northern summer to show that the senator is a tax-and-spend Democrat. A senior adviser to the McCain campaign team, Charlie Black, said it was prepared to face either Democrat in the general election and did not have a preference. Yet a memo written on Wednesday by Senator McCain's campaign manager, Rick Davis, analyzed the race as if Senator Obama, and not Senator Clinton, would be the opponent. Republicans target Obama

The thing that really annoys me is that Limbaugh has turned his mealy mouthed attention on Obama! He has publicly urged Republicans to vote for Sen. Hillary Clinton to keep the divisive Democratic nomination fight alive, but talk radio host Rush Limbaugh said Wednesday he really wants Sen. Barack Obama to be the party's nominee. "I now believe he would be the weakest of the Democrat nominees," Limbaugh, among the most powerful voices in conservative radio, said on his program. "I now urge the Democrat super delegates to make your mind up and publicly go for Obama. Rush Limbaugh urges vote for Obama

* I have to agree with the jerk. Lets get this over so Obama can go after McCain who I think one on one will be an easy target! Coulter, Rove, Limbaugh, the complicit MSM, are all trying to prolong this to the detriment of Democrats but it will be to the detriment of them and the world too. Romney threw his two cents in yesterday saying Hillary has the experience and should stay in. They see that Obama will win so now they are turning on him but I can't wait with an Obama McCain one on one because the true nightmare of McCain will sink him.I wish Al would run! He would instantly unite the party and be our next President. Whoever he endorses will be the nominee! McCain is too Damn old and vile! I believe an Obama Hillary ticket would unite the party and defeat McCain big time! I would be very interested in what the rest of you have to say.

As We feared, Chief Justice John Roberts clearly Demonstrated he is the leader of a dangerous Court!

As we feared Chief Justice John Roberts clearly demonstrated he is the conservative leader of a conservative-leaning court. We continue to be subjugated and it only gets worse.
I haven't heard this discussed of late and we have to stay on top of this too. I want to discuss recent rulings in the Supreme Court that are favoring the right and threatening to undermine years of gains for the people. Back when Bush ridiculously attempted to put his lap dog Meirs in there we were concerned Bush was stacking the Supreme Court to push his perverted agenda through for years to come.
There use to be a measure that once someone got on the Supreme Court they tend to vote the opposite as expected. I was hoping that would continue to be the case with Chief Justice John Roberts and Justice Alito. It isn't appearing that way right now.
First I woke this morning to hear a nameless Senator say that never before in history have so many people disagreed with and been upset with the direction of the country. I am afraid we are all part of that group. Then they cut to the chief idiot who was saying everything is great including the immigration Bill and it must be passed.
Then I came in and turned on my computer to see the headline that Bush predicted another win, this time on the arm twisting of the immigration Bill. I say it so much I am sick of saying it as Bush just continues to get his arrogant underhanded way as he drags us into his new societal order.
Anyway with that in mind I was listening to recent developments in the Supreme Court thinking Bush is getting his way there too and it too will continue long after he is gone. Bush is a nightmare that keeps repeating, for us, the middle east, and the entire world. In Monday's Supreme Court rulings, Chief Justice John Roberts clearly demonstrated he is the conservative leader of a conservative-leaning court. In two of the court's high-profile cases, Roberts showed he will take an incremental approach to curbing some of the court's precedents.
In a case testing whether the 2002 campaign reform law could bar certain types of TV ads, Roberts supported the First Amendment right of a Wisconsin Right to Life group to air ads urging two senators to oppose the filibustering of judicial nominees.
That also means that an antiabortion group should have been allowed to air ads during the final two months before the 2004 elections. The law unreasonably limits speech and violates the group's First Amendment rights, the court said. The decision could lead to a bigger role for corporations, unions and other interest groups in the 2008 presidential and congressional elections.
That is a scary thought to me as I can see it being abused further to push these perverted right wing agenda's on us. This is very discomforting and can only get worse. The Supreme Court also ruled Monday that ordinary taxpayers cannot challenge a White House initiative that helps religious charities get a share of federal money. This is really troubling to me. We have to get Religion out of politics.
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/...
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/19415033/
I am a to each his or her own find of person and I do not have a stance either way on the issue. I do not however appreciate being inundated by Religious right to life groups or perverted right wing agenda's. I do not like it at all! We are being further incapacitated. Where is the outrage?
