Lebanese politician seeks state of emergency in Syria spillover
Lebanese politician seeks state of emergency in Syria spillover: Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea called for the measure after a week in which a Lebanese politician was arrested and accused of planning to target Sunni Muslims in Lebanon. On Wednesday, a powerful Shiite clan kidnapped dozens of Syrians and other nationals in retaliation for the kidnapping of a family member by Free Syrian Army rebels.
More kidnappings were reported Thursday, though the clan denied responsibility. There are widespread fears that the 17-month uprising in Syria will affect neighboring countries, especially now that it has increasingly become a sectarian conflict. Lebanon has its own history with sectarian strife during its civil war. "The image formed in every citizen's mind now is that Lebanon is an uncontrolled state with no authority, constitution or rules whatsoever,"
In Lebanon, signs of sectarian strain bear echoes of a devastating civil war: Haaretz analyst Avi Issacharoff believes a lot has changed in Israel's neighbor to the north since the end of its 16-year-long war. However, Assad's ouster could undo what has been a delicate ethnic and religious balance. The battles that have been raging in the northern Lebanon city of Tripoli in the last three days prompt grave concerns that those events serve just as the dress rehearsal ahead of a wider civil war that could break following the possible ouster of Syrian President Bashar Assad.
It absolutely is going to and throughout the entire middle east and sadly Russia, China, and the United States seem to be desiring to get involved because of natural resources and a pipeline though all three lie and say they want peace. Maybe so but each side wants the other to stand down and I do not see it happening.
As Syria's fall gets closer I reiterate: The realities on the ground are that Iran is influencing and interfering everywhere they possibly can in order to stop what they think is the US getting its way. It has nothing to do with doing the right thing for Syria as a whole. It has everything to do with keeping the US, the West, and Arabs from having events in Syria go their way and not the way of Iran, Russia, China and the rest of their allies.
This is all about the future direction of the entire middle east. The goal absolutely is to be the country who decides which direction the new Middle East (dis)order will take. Bush started it by attacking Iraq to get into the middle east to destabilize it and start the new middle east order the idiot said God told him to do now it will be up to Iran and Saudi Arabia (Al Qaeda?) at least up front fight it out whether this goes the Iranian Shiite way or the Saudi Arabian Sunni way and do not forget Israel!
You know I firmly believe and have said so a million times by now that since 9/11 everything was construed to allow Bush to gain the power he needed to prosecute his new order not just in the Middle East but on the entire world! He diverted from Afghanistan to get back into the Middle East with the goal of setting up a larger safety zone for Israel and going after Iran. Both will fail! It has long been my contention that coming to Israel's aid once they attack Iran will be our in to Iran but with Iran, the Gulf, Syria, and everything else who knows what will happen first.
We must contain this to the middle east and keep it from turning into WW3. This must be a middle east fight and problem or the entire world is in dire trouble and we have too much already as we try to move successfully through the 21st century. I am afraid we are failing our children in every regard.
Syria is battleground for Russia and US: Under Putin, Moscow's objections to foreign interventions in the Middle East will grow. A Sunni-Shiite standoff in the region will complicate issues. The winds of a second Cold War are blowing across the Middle East, more than two decades after the collapse of the Berlin Wall and the ensuing unraveling of the Soviet Union.
This time Moscow is looking to reassert its role and influence in a Middle East that is polarized along new geopolitical divides, initially created as a result of direct US military intervention in Iraq eight years ago and deepening later following the tumultuous Arab Spring in 2011. The battleground for the new confrontation between Russia and the United States is Syria, which has been embroiled in a popular anti-regime uprising for more than a year. Moscow has adopted a tough line in support of its old and last ally in the Arab world. Why do you think Putin stole his way back in as President in the first place?
Russia is not going to give up Syria. To do so would be letting the US win and Putin to the demise of the Syrian people is not going to let that happen. Russia's weapons are being used to slaughter the people and they brag about it. Those are the only weapons Russia will allow. French President Nicolas Sarkozy likened Syrian leader Bashar Assad to a "murderer" while Russia said it was arming his regime enabling him to slaughter his people.
The Syrian people are being sacrificed in this the opening volley not just in the middle east but in the world against US hegemony! That is the only reason Putin got himself back into the Russian Presidency. The sole goal is to finish what was started under him and George Bush when he was gathering forces amongst Russia, China, the 35 non aligned nations and anyone else interested in stopping our efforts to rule the world.
Hezbollah and Iran's IRG armed by Russia have taken the lead in slaughtering the Syrian people to keep them and Bashar Al assad in control. This is just the opening volley in the war against US hegemony. Sorry to say but those Syrian people are being sacrificed in an opening volley for the war for position to see who holds prominence as we try to move through the 21st century.
I remember saying a year ago that the Syrian protesters are the bravest in the world as they know they at the least are facing dedicated Syrian and Iranian Revolutionary Guard killers and now we find out we were right on and then some. I know the protesters vowed not to be deterred stating they will break the Government period but there is no way. The Syrian Government will kill and arrest who they have too. Iran will accept nothing less!
I remember the Syrian opposition saying that they would not stop and would ultimately defeat the Government saying Democratic transition would safeguard Syria from violence. As outsiders looking in we know nothing could be further from the truth. People are being imprisoned and murdered and I can not see that stopping until the Democracy movement is crushed. Supposedly this expected situation is begging for us to get involved but we damn well better not. Unless that is going to war with Iran is the goal.
I remember saying from day one that it would take almost the whole military to defect before they would have a chance and now that we know how involved Russia, Iran and Hezbollah are in the slaughtering that is going on around the country that is beginning to look like the beginning of their fight.
You have to be very concerned about what is happening in Syria especially. Russia, China, and Iran are not going to allow Syria to fall to Democracy. What we saw after the voter fraud in Iran was mild compared to what the IRG will do if this movement spreads to Iran. I really wish Bashar would step down but Iran is the elephant in the room any way you look at it. The total middle east breakdown we have written about numerous times is well under way. We can only hope we keep it from erupting into WW3.
In closing: You know Putin just got himself reelected as President, he did this so he could be at the helm of Russia as he like me knows 100% that world war is our future. He plans on marshaling China who is rapidly building a more formidable military and whoever he can to take on US hegemony.Russia watched helplessly as we had our way in Libya. Putin blames what is happening in Syria on our interference and Libya for training the protesters to fight against Bashar Al-Assad. Russia and Iran will not let this be another Libya but at what expense?
Putin is going to do everything possible to keep us from helping the Syrian people and I really feel for them. I do not see this going down the way Libya did and Iran and Russia are going to make sure it does not. I am afraid the Syrian people are going to be sacrificed, sacrificed in what is merely an opening salvo in this the wars for future dominance. I just heard that Russia is gathering forces to go into Iran via Armenia for a quick strike through Georgia. We have a showdown setting up that looks disastrous for the worlds future. It will be a miracle if we can keep this from turning into WW3!

Middle East Breakdown update: Syria war tipping Mideast balance toward Sunni's
Syria war tipping Mideast balance toward Sunnis: The change is emblematic of how the bloody conflict in Syria, now in its 18th month, has brought a shift in the Middle East's sectarian power balance. For much of the past few years, Shiites were surging in power across the region, based on the central alliance between Iran, Syria and Hezbollah, with close relations to Shiites who took power in post-Saddam Hussein Iraq.
But now the region's Sunni-led powers are appearing more confident, encouraged by the prospect that the Sunni-led rebellion could bring down Syrian President Bashar Assad's regime, dominated by members of the Shiite offshoot sect of Alawites. Assad's fall would cost Iran a priceless foothold in the heart of the Arab world. Hezbollah would lose a bastion of support and a conduit via Syria for vital Iranian weapon supplies. Further boosting the Sunnis, the wave of uprisings around the Middle East since early 2011 brought greater political influence to Sunni Islamists, particularly the Muslim Brotherhood, in Egypt and Tunisia.
The realities on the ground are that Iran is influencing and interfering everywhere they possibly can in order to stop what they think is the US getting its way. It has nothing to do with doing the right thing for Syria as a whole. It has everything to do with keeping the US, the West, and Arabs from having events in Syria go their way and not the way of Iran, Russia, China and the rest of their allies.

Both Iran and Saudi Arabia have been using Lebanon and now Syria as their battlefront, up to now they have been able to avoid direct confrontation. Iran has pumped millions of dollars in supplies and arms into Lebanon and Syria much to the consternation of her suffering people while Saudi Arabia has been supporting the Palestinian Authority.
So far there has been no direct confrontation. However I absolutely see what I have been warning about since Bush diverted from Afghanistan to attack Iraq and get back in the middle east to create a new middle east (dis)order! I do not give a damn what anyone says. Bush, Cheney, and their Democratization program in an already historically unstable middle east set all of this and more in motion!
The hell on earth Bush created for Iraqi’s will engulf the entire Middle East before it encompasses the entire world if we can not contain it. Under Bush we broke a long standing tradition of not adding fuel to the Middle East fire by supplying weapons. We are now, including advanced weaponry and missile defense systems. The Middle East breakdown Bush started armed and funded is continuing under Obama. This up to now proxy war in the middle east is under way.

Live updates: Syria will defeat revolt at "any price" as Up to 500 killed in Daraya 200 execution style
Live updates as battles in Daraya rage on
320 killed in Daraya 200 execution style: Hundreds of bodies were found as Syrian forces launched a deadly assault in the southwestern belt of Damascus on Saturday, in what activists said was a new bid to crush "once and for all" the insurgency in the capital.
Combat helicopters and tanks also pounded rebel-held areas of the battered northern city of Aleppo, an AFP journalist and monitors said, as the army pressed on with its war against fighters seeking to topple President Bashar al-Assad. The confirmed death toll nationwide on Saturday included at least 34 in the town of Daraya, southwest of Damascus, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported.
Syrian rebels shoot down military helicopter over Damascus: The fighting comes after an intense and bloody government operation in the areas surrounding the capital that has left hundreds dead in recent days. More than 320 people were killed Saturday in the suburb of Darayya alone, many of them shot in the head, in what opposition groups are calling the biggest massacre of the conflict so far.
Dramatic videos of the helicopter attack, which allegedly took place in the Qaboun area of northeastern Damascus, were posted online Monday. One video shows the helicopter smoking and circling horizontally before taking a dramatic vertical dip and plunging to the ground in a fiery ball. The sound of heavy machine gun fire can be heard on the video along with chants of “God is great.”
Assad: Syria will defeat revolt at "any price": Syrian President Bashar al-Assad on Sunday vowed to defeat at "any price" the rebellion after the death of hundreds of people in a massive military operation in a suburb of Damascus. "The Syrian people will not allow the foreign conspiracy to succeed" and defeat it "at any price," said the Syrian leader, while receiving Alaeddine Boroujerdi, a senior Iranian MP, according to the official SANA news agency.
It was the first time that the media reported statements by Mr. Assad since a Syrian official stated Tuesday for the first time the opportunity to discuss the departure of the Syrian president in negotiations with the opposition. Assad comments coincided with the announcement by the Syrian opposition of discovery of at least 320 bodies in the predominantly Sunni town of Daraya, seven miles south of Damascus, where the army launched five days ago a massive operation. Most of the bodies, some of which were summarily executed, were found Saturday,
Assad will go nowhere unless he is killed. Still It absolutely will not end. It will continue without the direction of Assad. Maybe the Alawite's may no longer be leading it against the Sunni majority and Christian minority but it will continue. Only now the Sunni may be leading it against the Alawite's who will continue to be armed and reinforced by Iran. The Russians will meanwhile have gone nowhere and the big unknown is the large Chinese military contingency in the area.
The realities on the ground are that Iran is influencing and interfering everywhere they possibly can in order to stop what they think is the US getting its way. It has nothing to do with doing the right thing for Syria as a whole. Syrian ex-premier: Regime near collapse, more spectacular defections coming
Syrian ex-premier: Regime near collapse: "Based on my experience and my position, the regime is falling apart morally, materially, economically," the former official, Riad Farid Hijab, said at a news conference in Amman, Jordan. "Its military is rusting, and it only controls 30 percent of Syria’s territory."
He added that many high-level civilian and military officials in Syria — "leaders with dignity" — were waiting to defect. Hijab said he fled the Syrian capital, Damascus, because the government had threatened his family and had no reasonable means to end the violence. He also urged the opposition to unify and move ahead with plans for a transitional government and "a civilian democratic state that preserves the right, justice and dignity of all Syrians." But he said he had no interest in a formal position with a post-Assad government, should there be one.
Syria: French FM expects new "spectacular" defections soon: "From the information we have, but we'll see if this is confirmed in the coming days, there are other spectacular defections that will occur," said the French minister as he visited Beirut. He recalled the "very spectacular defections" in recent weeks by the Prime Minister Riad Hijab and General Manaf Tlass, the highest ranking Syrian dissident who was a friend of President Bashar al-Assad.
"All this shows that people from different communities (...) decided to abandon the regime because they see that the only thing that Bashar al-Assad can do now is to murder his own people" said Fabius. "These elements that add to each other are not only spectacular but show that the regime is decaying (...) we obviously want it to go as fast as possible," he said. But, he cautioned, however, the fall of the regime should not be translated "into a rise of extremism. For this, it requires not only the regime be changed, but that security institutions continue to exist. If not we may have the same phenomenon as in Iraq. "
First Syrian in space defects from Assad regime: Before crossing into Turkey, Gen Faris visited the headquarters of the Free Syrian Army in his home town of Aleppo in a show of solidarity with rebel forces battling Assad's troops in Syria's commercial capital. The Anatolia news agency reported that it was the general's fourth attempt to defect.
Gen Faris was born in 1951 in Aleppo, where the Syrian army and air force was pounding rebel positions on Sunday ahead of a threatened ground assault on the northern city. A graduate of the Aleppo's military pilot school in 1973, he joined a Soviet crew on the orbiting space station Mir in 1987, for which he was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union and also received the Order of Lenin.
The commander of Assad's elite Republican Guard defected and last I knew was in Turkey, 23 senior General's at last count have defected along with thousands of troops and their commanding officers. After the defection of the fighter jet to Turkey along with his mig23 the remainder have been grounded because of rumors others were attempting to follow.
The rebels soon will have high level Government officials in place to form a new Government and the military if it does not already will soon have a military that will be capable of performing its role as the defender of the new Government. It is China and Russia and their sizable land, air, and naval forces that mysteriously we have heard nothing about since we learned in July that they were headed to Syria for so called exercises.
* Forget it Assad the game is up! Your die hard followers now want you dead and gone and even the Shabiha your hand picked murderers are abandoning you trying to melt back into the countryside they have helped to destroy in your name. Syria as you and your father knew it is gone. Only God knows what will happen now before it spreads throughout the middle east and no one will like it.
* It would behoove Russia to cut its losses and evacuate its people and evacuate its sub base but it will not. With China and Russia both with at least 11 powerful warships "including carriers", 1000 tanks, hundreds of fighter jets, and thousands of soldiers, I absolutely believe they plan on hanging around and fighting for their last naval hold in the middle east. Putin is done cutting and running!
*Putin and Iran are ready to fight for their last significant ally Syria, the bull in the "China"shop is China. Right now China is with Russia but when all is said and done I think it behooves China to side with the west and the Syrian people then when the dust settles if it is as vicious as it may be China will be able to be in a position to take advantageous of it. With its push in the South China seas that is the common sense thing to do!

Pussy Riot sentences just the latest crackdowns by Putin's Kremlin:
Pussy Riot sentences just the latest crackdowns by Putin's Kremlin: On Friday, after something of a show trial, three young women in a Russian punk band were found guilty and sentenced to two years in prison for an anti-Vladimir Putin protest in a Moscow cathedral earlier this year. Western governments and rights groups condemned the harsh sentence – even the Russian Orthodox Church had asked for clemency. despite its high profile, the Pussy Riot trial was just one on a long list of crackdowns on freedom of expression that human rights activists and observers have compiled since Putin returned to the Russian presidency in May.
Russia faces international condemnation over Pussy Riot:
The international community is right to be outraged but it is too late. They would have been smarter to attempt to derail Putin's attempt to get reelected for a third term and to have that term extended. His goal is not only to suppress the Russian people but to join up with China and take on US hegemony.
Remember when Putin was rallying and uniting the world to take on Bush and his drive to dominate the world? Absolutely as the world's mayhem ensues amidst its drive to dominate as we move through the 21st century is Putin's only agenda. It is an old thought. I remember when term limits made him have to leave last time. There was immediate speculation as to him taking back the Presidency.
This is another sobering shock. Putin's party has been intimidating and gaming the system for years in his effort to get his fascist hands on Russia again. This is proof positive of Russians' increasing suspicions of Putin's authoritarianism, ingrained corruption and falling living standards. Putin is not to be trusted and Russians have felt his grubby little hands around their necks for 12 years as he intimidates and tries to control Russia's future for his party.
Be scared be very scared! The USSR's Mikhail Gorbachev has warned that Russia risks six lost years when Vladimir Putin returns to the presidency, echoing rumblings of dissent over his Kremlin comeback. I always find myself agreeing with Gorbachev but that is putting it mildly. This is bad news for the US and the world!
This is very concerning. I remember back in 2008 when Putin was going to try and be President for life. He was not alone. Leaders aligned with Russia were all trying to get permanent leadership so they could be at the helm of their prospective countries to take on then President Bush when his war mongering hit the point where Russia, the 135 non aligned Nations, Iran, and others were prepared to join forces and take him and our allies on.
I remember when Bush first met Putin and he said he shook his hand and looked him in the eye and saw a man of compassion, a man who was true to his word, and a man he could work with. I shuttered at Bush's stupidity. I looked at Putin and saw a man deceitful to the core who was not to be trusted period.
We were too pompous then and were pushing the world towards WW3 with our take it or leave it, my way or the highway, interference around the world. Putin was determined to head us off, to directly confront us when we were on Russia's front door trying to instigate war by installing the so called missile shield in Czechoslovakia and Poland, and return Russia to the role of a world leader.
Personally we blew it when Russia broke up and the Berlin wall came down. We were the world leader and had the perfect opportunity to be humble, show we were the leader, and bring the world together to proceed successfully through the 21st century. We egged on the likes of Vladimir Putin who understandably chaffed under our we are the boss do what we say take it or leave it, it your face tactics of Bush and Cheney.
With the return of Putin to the Russian Presidency I am again concerned as we have returned to a confrontational relationship with Russia.Under Putin we have a re-surging Russia who is suppressing his people and Democracy. His goal hopefully with the aid of China and Iran is to put an end to US hegemony. I do not like the man, I do not trust the man, and I am very concerned as to which direction Russia and the United States are headed now and at a time when China is surging militarily.
We must maintain a balance as we try to move progressively and successfully through the 21st century! Being in a superior position puts one in a unique position of power and that power must be handled gracefully, with humility, responsibly, and not abused. That is something I taught all my sons and America under Bush did a lousy job of handling it and so it China and Russia.
Watching what is happening in Syria and Iran at this point it looks like Russia and China are going to unite to take on the United States and our allies and that bodes ill for the prospect of future war or the well being of us the world and the planet.
We need Russia on our side. I am a little worried that China too is getting a little too heavy handed and abusive with her new position of power and beginning to take what she wants instead of being content with what she has which is what I constantly lecture has to be the case if we are to have a future. The time when man and the planet could handle war is over, period or else! Be very concerned for our future!

Mullah Omar was for killing civilians before he was against it
Reclusive Afghan Taliban leader Mullah Mohammad Omar has urged insurgent fighters, who he said had successfully infiltrated the security forces, to avoid civilian deaths after a swathe of suicide bombings this week killed 63 people. Islamist suicide bombers on Tuesday targeted markets crowded with Ramadan shoppers and a provincial hospital in Afghanistan, killing scores and wounding 148 in the worst attack since a series of sectarian bombings against Shi'ite Muslims late last year.
The Interior Ministry said the Taliban had not let up on attacks during Ramadan and security forces had stepped up security ahead of the three-day Eid al-Fitr festival. But Mullah Omar, who is thought to be sheltering in Pakistan despite government denials there, boasted that his forces had successfully infiltrated Afghan security forces to mount rogue shootings of foreign troops that have killed 39 soldiers in 30 attacks this year.
Dozens of Afghan civilians die in bloody day: Twenty-three people were killed and 50 others were wounded in the suicide attack in a car park crammed with vehicles supplying the largest NATO base in southern Afghanistan, police said.A suicide bomber on a motorcycle struck first and as a crowd gathered to help the victims a second bomber walked into their midst and set off explosives strapped to his body, Kandahar provincial police chief General Abdul Raziq told AFP.
"All casualties are civilians -- not a single military person," he said. Taliban insurgents claimed responsibility for the bombing, saying on their website that "several dozen of the foreign terrorist forces and their puppets were killed Wednesday in a martyrdom attack".
Last year was the deadliest on record for Afghan civilians with 3,021 killed, a rise of 8 percent from the year before as insurgents ratcheted up violence with roadside bombs and suicide attacks, the United Nations said Saturday.
Taliban-affiliated militants were responsible for more than three-quarters of the civilian deaths in 2011, the fifth year in a row in which the death toll went up, the U.N. said. The figures were a grim testament to the violence the Taliban and allied Islamist militants can still unleash in Afghanistan, even as NATO begins to map out plans for international troops to draw down and give Afghan security forces the main responsibility for fighting insurgents by the end of 2014.
Who is the real Mullah Omar? Omar was for killing his people before he was against it before he was for it before he was against it... You get the picture
Mullah Omar Wikipedia
Just over a year ago Taliban leader Mullah Omar ordered fighters to kill Afghan civilians, contradicting orders he issued the prior year. Remember that farce they called a code of conduct to protect civilians. Yes civilians are dying from both sides. As usual they get the shit end of the stick!
In a statement, NATO said it intercepted orders that Mullah Omar gave to subordinate commanders at the beginning of June 2010 . It says he instructed fighters to kill Afghans who work with NATO or the Afghan government, and to kill women who provide information to coalition forces. I have to ask what's changed really?
There was no immediate reaction to the claim from Taliban leaders. prior to that, Mullah Omar called on militants to avoid causing civilian deaths when attacking government and foreign troops. NATO says Mullah Omar ordered the Taliban to kill civilians You saw the results, while the west was found to be responsible for much fewer deaths the Taliban were purposely killing as many as possible to show them who was in charge.
We managed to lower the number of civilians killed so Mullah Omar had ordered the Taliban to kill as many as possible. Now that Omar says his forces have been successful in infiltrating the Afghan military and police forces enabling him to kill NATO forces it seems at will with 6 so called green on blue killings in 2 weeks Omar figures it is time to give the civilians he plans on ruling a break.
I want us to get the hell out of Afghanistan like we should. If we are lucky enough to have that happen and I have my doubts, the people have a choice. They will still have their tribes but otherwise they have the choice of Mullah Omar who will kill them if they do not live the way he says or the corrupt drug dealer Hamid Karzai.
I just do not get it. If those people know how bad their life is going to be under the Taliban then why do they not fight to defeat them? *Vietnam all over again regardless of what they say. They are now offering the Taliban to join in the Government.
I really do not care what they do. Our soldiers did their job. We should get them out now with heads held high for a job well done. They have performed magnificently. The Taliban are going to take over again regardless and the people know it that is why everyone who can is making preparations to get out now.

Britain and France Join the US in Warning Syria About Military Action as Sunni cleric killed in north Lebanon clashes
Big Foreign Military Forces Pile Up On Syria’s Borders As War Looms |
Sunni cleric killed in north Lebanon clashes: Fierce clashes raged between supporters and opponents of Syrian President Bashar Assad in Lebanon's northern city of Tripoli, killing a Salafist sheikh and wounding 21 other people, including a Canadian journalist and 9 soldiers.
Britain and France Join the US in Warning Syria About Military Action: In a further sign of anxiety over the security surrounding chemical weapons stashed in Syria, officials said the subject came up in Istanbul during the first meeting of a newly created joint working group of the United States and Turkey. The purpose of the group, first announced by Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton a few weeks ago, is to prepare for the aftermath of what leaders from both countries have described as the inevitable fall of President Bashar al-Assad.
Worries about the chemical weapons were also expressed by Russia, the Assad government’s most important foreign supporter.
France backs no-fly zone over Syria, Russia continues cooperation with Damascus: The international community is still divided on ways to solve the Syrian conflict as France indicated Thursday that it would support a partial no-fly zone over Syria while Russia continues close cooperation with the Syrian authorities on energy. French Defense Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian, speaking on France 24 television, called for a partial closure of Syria's air space, as suggested by U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. However, he warned that shutting Syria's entire air space would mean "going to war." Do you think Russia is going to stand still for this?
This is only going to end in a much wider war any way you look at it. It absolutely will not end.
The goal absolutely is to be the country who decides which direction the new middle east (dis)order will take. Bush started it by attacking Iraq to get into the middle east to destabilize it and start the new middle east order the idiot said God told him to do now it will be up to Iran and Saudi Arabia at least up front fight it out whether this goes the Iranian Shiite way or the Saudi Arabian Sunni way and do not forget Israel!

The sides are forming for military confrontation around the world: WW3?
Russia to send navy vessels to disputed Pacific islands: The dispute has strained relations between the two countries since World War Two, when Soviet forces occupied the four islands at the southern end of the Kuril chain. Japan says the islands are part of its territory and wants Moscow to hand them over.
The Russian Defence Ministry said the large landing ship Admiral Nevelskoi and the tugboat Kalar will visit three of the four islands to take part in ceremonies honouring Soviet sailors who died there at the end of World War Two.
The Pacific fleet ships are scheduled to travel between Aug. 25 and Sept. 17, it said. Moscow disagrees with Tokyo's claim, and senior Russian officials have drawn protests from Japan in the past two years by traveling to the islands, which Russia calls the Southern Kurils and Japan calls the Northern Territories.
Japan Prime Minister Naoto Kan and Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao will not hold a one-on-one meeting intended to mend ties at an Asian summit as Chinese anger flared over an over-lapping claim in the resource-rich East China Sea. China lambasted Japan on Friday for raising the issue of disputed islands in the sea and a Japanese cabinet secretary later said Beijing had torpedoed a slated meeting between the two premiers at the last minute. China angry with Japan over disputed Islands
China Approves City Council, Military Base in Disputed Islands: China says it has formed a municipal council for a newly established city in a disputed part of the South China Sea, and has authorized the deployment of a military base in the area. In a report published Sunday, China's official Xinhua news agency says 1,100 residents of several islands known in Chinese as Xisha, Zhongsha and Nansha have elected 45 deputies to a municipal people's congress. The islands are part of the new city called Sansha, and the council will be based on an island that China refers to as Yongxing, known in English as Woody Island.
Xinhua also says China's Central Military Commission has approved the formation of a Sansha garrison command responsible for “national defense” and “military operations.” The Chinese government declared the establishment of Sansha last month, saying its role is to administer the disputed Paracel and Spratly archipelagos and surrounding South China Sea waters, which are believed to hold oil and natural gas deposits. The islands are claimed in whole or in part by Brunei, China, Malaysia, the Philippines, Taiwan and Vietnam.
We are Taiwan's, Vietnam's, Australia's, and Japan's protectors. As China flex's their military muscles in the area we are not supposed to worry. Just what are we supposed to think they are going to do with their advanced weaponry, missiles, stealth aircraft, aircraft carriers and the like. Their threats are going to become more ominous until they cannot be ignored and it is too late. We have been here before. The world was not supposed to worry as Hitler built his arsenal and we know how that turned out.
Last? Certainly not least: As Syria's fall gets closer the realities on the ground are that Iran is influencing and interfering everywhere they possibly can in order to stop what they think is the US getting its way.
We back Japan against Russia in their Island disputes. We back Brunei, Malaysia, the Philippines, Taiwan and Vietnam, Australia, and anyone else in the world it seem who asks for our help in their disputes involving the China seas. Both Russia and China vow to defend their interests with ever improving military assets. We back Syrian rebels and Arab Nations against Syria,Hezbollah, Iran, Russia, and China.
World War 3 is all I see, it is only a matter of time. As we know from history wars to not get easier over the years they get more violent, and weapons get more destructive to humans and the planet. We can only hope common sense prevails in all this but there is no way!

US drought shows us we are not exempt from a growing world food crisis
Food crisis caused by drought may hit US very Soon,IFPRIs Fan says: Biofuel production from corn must be stopped to secure food supplies, Shenggen Fan, director general at the institute, said in a Bloomberg Television interview today. Higher corn prices will drive up meat costs in Asia and accelerate global food inflation, Fan said. Countries including India and China must release their food stockpiles to help the poor cope with rising costs, he said. Governments must also refrain from imposing export bans, he said.
The US is not exempt, we are as susceptible as the rest of the world. Much of the rest of the world has been dealing with food shortages and food wars for years and for many reasons. Mother nature seems to even be turning on the US who until now seems to have been able to beat everything but you do not mess with mother nature and we have. As usual the poor go down first and the better off eventually get hit. We are beginning to get ours.
In the growing fight to secure their own food supplies after world wide droughts and other natural phenomena you know exports will be slowed down if not halted and the Food Wars long in the making will get much worse.
Could we really run out of food? It is right now hitting the United States!
Let's just go back 4 years, you would swear this is todays conversation but every situation the world is facing right now we were fighting 4 years ago. The problems are not new, they have not gone away they only continue to multiply and get much worse.
Growing world water wars, growing food wars, and a growing world war! World Bank President Robert Zoellick says the escalating price of food is stunting opportunities and creating hardship for people in poor countries. The international lending organization says it aims to double agricultural business investment this year and called on rich countries to help offset the rising cost of food. Speaking to reporters ahead of the World Bank/IMF meetings this weekend, Zoellick said World Bank members must step up efforts to stave off what he called a "growing emergency" in developing countries. VOA's Mil Arcega reports. The world Bank says Sub-Saharan countries will be among the hardest hit by the skyrocketing cost of food.
Speaking to reporters, World Bank President Robert Zoellick says the situation in the world's poorest countries makes the financial problems in developed nations seem trivial in comparison. "While many are worrying about filling their gas tanks, many others around the world are struggling to fill their stomachs - and it's getting more and more difficult everyday,” he said. World Bank studies show the price of wheat has more than doubled in the past year, while the price of rice has risen at least 75 percent. Zoellick says the upcoming spring meetings by members of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank must do more than recognize the crisis. He called on rich countries to act quickly to expand safety net programs for poor nations and provide at least $500 million to meet their emergency food needs.
"This is not just about meals foregone today or about increasing social unrest. This is about lost learning potential for children and adults in the future - stunted intellectual and physical growth. Even more, we estimate that the effects of this food crisis on poverty reduction worldwide is on the order of seven lost years," he added. Food riots have already erupted in developing nations where people spend as much as 60 percent of their income on food. The U.N. and World Bank blame the rising cost of food on a combination of factors including climate change, higher energy prices and the growing demand for biofuels.
Demand for ethanol and other biofuels is a "significant contributor" to soaring food prices around the world, World Bank President Robert Zoellick says. Droughts, financial market speculators and increased demand for food have also helped create "a perfect storm" that has boosted those prices, he says. The soaring costs of food and fuel led to riots in Haiti and Egypt and a general strike in Burkina Faso this week. Skyrocketing food prices are topping the agenda this weekend of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund annual spring meetings in Washington. Zoellick held up a bag of rice during a news conference Thursday to illustrate the severity of the food crisis.
"In Bangladesh a two-kilogram bag of rice ... now consumes about half of the daily income of a poor family," he said. "The price of a loaf of bread ... has more than doubled. Poor people in Yemen are now spending more than a quarter of their incomes just on bread." And Zoellick says prices for basic staples will remain high for an extended period of time.
* "I think you have a perfect storm of things coming together," he tells NPR's Steve Inskeep in an interview. "You have high energy prices. You have the increase in demand from some of the developing countries. ... As the Indian commerce minister said to me, going from one meal a day to two meals a day for 300 million people increases demand a lot. Bio fuels boosting food prices
6 years ago: Perfect storm no kidding? 40 countries face food shortages worldwide Darfur crisis most pressing humanitarian problem 9 October 2006, Rome -- Forty countries are facing food emergencies and require external assistance, with the crisis in the Darfur region of Sudan still the most pressing humanitarian problem, according to an FAO report released today. In Darfur, “the already precarious food supply situation may worsen if deteriorating security disrupts the main harvest due to start in the coming few weeks,” FAO’s Crop Prospects and Food Situation report warns. Close monitoring of global food situation needed. Prospects for the 2006 world cereal harvest have deteriorated further since July, according to the report. Exceptionally hot and dry weather is adversely affecting the wheat crops in Australia, Argentina and Brazil, while drier-than-normal weather in parts of South Asia is also raising some concern for the second 2006 paddy crop.
FAO’s forecast for world cereal production in 2006 now stands at about 2 013 million tonnes, almost 8 million tonnes down since the previous report in July and 1.6 percent less than the 2005 level. “The main concern is the declining stocks and whether supplies will be adequate to meet demand without world prices surging to even higher levels,” the report says.
Africa: While the situation in Darfur remains the most critical, elsewhere in Eastern Africa, despite improved prospects for the 2006/07 crops in some areas, floods, erratic rains and conflict-related displacement have negatively affected the food situation. Most of the region’s pastoral areas have yet to recover from the successive poor rains that severely affected livestock and resulted in acute food shortages and migration of thousands of people in search of water and food.
In Somalia, a severe food crisis is expected to persist throughout the country for the rest of 2006, affecting at least 1.8 million people. In spite of a satisfactory food supply situation, serious localized food insecurity due mostly to access problems is reported in several West African countries, including Burkina Faso, Guinea-Bissau, Mali, Mauritania and Niger. Emergency food assistance continues to be needed in Chad, Côte d’Ivoire, Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone due to large numbers of internally displaced people (IDPs) and refugees.
Asia: Reduced food aid and crop damage due to floods in July has increased the severity of food insecurity in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea. In Timor-Leste, hundreds of thousands of people affected by civil unrest still need food assistance. Over 45 000 people affected by drought and floods in Nepal have received relief assistance. Unprecedented floods caused by several weeks of torrential rain have left millions of people in India and Pakistan homeless and in need of food assistance.
In China, the worst drought in 50 years has affected more than 3 million hectares of crops in Sichuan and Chongqing. In Iraq, conflict and insecurity continues to displace hundreds of thousands people. Drought and unusually high temperatures have compromised food production in Afghanistan and Armenia. In addition, increased military operations and conflict over the past year in Afghanistan have further exacerbated food insecurity in the country.
Central America: Food aid is still being provided to some vulnerable rural families affected by hurricanes during the second half of 2005 in El Salvador and Guatemala. It is also being distributed to populations without access to food in Haiti, Nicaragua and Honduras. 40 countries and growing face food shortages worldwide I could not find todays numbers but know everything is getting worse around the world you can just imagine.
* The Future! Growing Food wars, growing water wars, Growing environmental crisis, growing future wars, You see what is happening not just in the United States but around with an environment running amok, seemingly rebelling against us. You know our current war situations around the world and the growing threat of another world war starting in the middle east. I'm not a pessimist, I am a prepared realist! Things are not getting better but in every regard they continue to get worse and we will deal with it accordingly.

Russia warns West over Syria after Obama warns Syria
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov warns President Obama after Obama warns Syria |
President Barack Obama said any discovery that Syria’s chemicals or biological weapons are being moved or used may force him to reconsider U.S. military action. “A red line for us is we start seeing a whole bunch of chemical weapons moving around or being utilized,” the president told reporters yesterday in a news conference at the White House. “That would change my calculus.”
Obama said the U.S. has contingency plans to deal with President Bashar Al-Assad’s regime and its violence toward the Syrian people. It has made clear to the government and what he termed “other players on the ground” that there would be “enormous consequences” for any development involving Syria’s chemical weapons arsenal.
Russia warns West over Syria after Obama: Russia warned the West on Tuesday against unilateral action on Syria, a day after U.S. President Barack Obama threatened "enormous consequences" if his Syrian counterpart used chemical or biological arms or even moved them in a menacing way. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, speaking after meeting China's top diplomat, said Moscow and Beijing were committed to "the need to strictly adhere to the norms of international law...and not to allow their violation".
A Syrian government official warned the United States Tuesday that military intervention in Syria could lead to regional turmoil as regime forces bombed a northern village and stormed a rebel-held Damascus suburb, killing dozens of people, activists said.
The comments came a day after President Barack Obama said the U.S would reconsider its opposition to military involvement in the Syrian civil war if Bashar Assad's government deploys or uses chemical or biological weapons, describing it as a "red line" for the United States.
Assad will not quit Syria and Iran and Russia is not going to abandon Assad and not just because they want to keep their influence in Syria and they know they will lose it if Assad and the Alawite's fall.

The Us and the Arabs are being blamed for this but absolutely it is Iran and Russia that is to blame. They want the new middle east order to go their way.
As such Iran and Russia are not going to give up Syria.
Putin blames what is happening in Syria on our interference and Libya for training the protesters to fight against Bashar Al-Assad.Russia and Iran will not let this be another Libya but at what expense?
Putin is going to do everything possible to keep us from helping the Syrian people and I really feel for them. I do not see this going down the way Libya did and Iran and Russia are going to make sure it does not. I am afraid the Syrian people are going to be sacrificed, sacrificed in what is merely an opening salvo in this the wars for future dominance. I just heard that Russia is gathering forces to go into Iran via Armenia for a quick strike through Georgia. We have a showdown setting up that looks disastrous for the worlds future. It will be a miracle if we can keep this from turning into WW3!

Afghanistan businesses plan their own exits as Afghans fear what will happen when troops leave
Bombs kill 46 across Afghanistan: Suicide bombers launched multiple attacks in a remote corner of southwestern Afghanistan near the Iranian border Tuesday, killing dozens of people including shoppers buying sweets for a Muslim holiday and leaving charred and smoldering bits of cookies and dried fruit among the bodies on the ground.
A separate market bombing, this one in northern Afghanistan, brought the overall death toll to 46, most of whom were civilians. It was the deadliest day for Afghan civilians this year. The attacks in provinces on opposite ends of the country — Nimroz in the southwest and Kunduz in the north — come as Taliban insurgents and their allies step up their assaults in a display of force that often results in civilian carnage.
Afghans fear what will happen when troops leave: Among Afghans around the country interviewed by The Associated Press, the worry is pervasive. Many are deeply skeptical that Afghan police and security forces, which the U.S.-led coalition has spent years trying to build, will be able to fight insurgents and militants without American and NATO fighting alongside. Worse-case scenarios that some fear:
The Afghan forces could splinter along ethnic line and prompt civil war, the nation could plunge into a deep recession, or the Kabul government — plagued with corruption and still fragile despite efforts to establish its authority — would remain too weak to hold off a Taliban takeover. Just a 45-minute drive south of Kabul, residents of Wardak province directly feel the tenuousness. The province is a battleground for Afghan and coalition forces trying to squash hotbeds of the Taliban. Residents quickly warn visitors that it’s dangerous just to go past a checkpoint less a kilometer (half-mile) outside the provincial capital, Maidan Shahr.
In Afghanistan, Businesses Plan Their Own Exits: America may be struggling to come up with a viable exit plan for Afghanistan, but Abdul Wasay Manani is sure of his. This month, Mr. Manani, 38, flew to India for 14 days to scout out a new business, and a new home, ready to leave Afghanistan and everything he worked to build here, just in case things fall apart when most Americans and other foreign troops leave in 2014. “If the Taliban come like last time, ordering people around with whips, I can’t stay here,” he said. “I have to leave this country to keep my family safe.”
Many Afghans share his concern. In this environment, troubling indicators are not hard to find. More than 30,400 Afghans applied for asylum in industrialized nations in 2011, the highest level in 10 years and four times the number seeking asylum in 2005. The only Western bank operating here said on Wednesday that it would be leaving. Piles of cash equaling about a quarter of Afghanistan’s annual economic output were physically carried out of Afghanistan last year.

Afghan Soldier Killed After Firing on NATO Troops: A hollow victory!
: A man in an Afghan military uniform killed three U.S. troops Friday in southern Afghanistan, a day after the United States condemned a suicide bomb attack that left four Americans dead.
For the sixth time in two weeks, a member of Afghanistan's fledgling security forces opened fire on his international trainers today, this time killing two US soldiers. A local Afghan policeman in the far western province of Farah opened fire during the police inauguration ceremony attended by both American and Afghan national forces, shortly after receiving his weapon, USA Today reports. He joined the Afghan Local Police, a group of regional militias backed and trained by NATO, only five days earlier.
The so-called green on blue attacks (for the color of the Afghan and international coalition forces' uniforms) have resulted in the deaths of 36 international soldiers in 2012 alone, according to USA Today (some news outlets reported higher numbers). There were only 11 such attacks in all of 2011 and only five in both 2009 and 2010.
I understand there was three green on blue killings in a week by so called rogue or friendly Afghan forces and three of these soldiers were killed by a senior Afghan leader after he invited the soldiers to dinner then he defected to the Taliban. That makes the following victory even smaller. We have to get the F out and let these scum kill each other, period! These killings are happening so rapidly now I can't keep track of them.
Afghan Soldier Killed After Firing on NATO Troops: NATO troops have killed an Afghan soldier who tried to gun down coalition service members at a military base in eastern Afghanistan. A NATO spokesman says no coalition troops were killed in the attack Thursday in Laghman province, but declined to say if any were wounded. I am glad but with Mullah Omar's success this was a hollow victory!
It has begun to look like these so called rogue soldiers think killing NATO trainers is a turkey shoot.
AP Interview: US Afghan withdrawal halfway done: It's a kind of milestone toward wrapping up the U.S. and NATO combat role after a decade in the war-torn nation - but Allen cautioned against putting too much emphasis on the U.S. troop drawdown, because the U.S.-led coalition's campaign is continuing. Still, Allen said that he knows the clock is ticking on the NATO coalition's combat mission, which is to end at the close of 2014 - just 29 months from now.
An Afghan police commander and 12 junior officers have defected to the Taliban after poisoning seven comrades, government officials in the western province of Farah said on Tuesday. The commander, named only as Mirwais, was in charge of a checkpoint in the Bala Boluk district when he and his unit defected to the Taliban and handed over their equipment and weapons, including military vehicles. We must get out and leave this to the Afghan's!
I reiterate though it is a waste of time that like Afghanistan Pakistan is largely tribal but they want a central Government and freedom from the Taliban to continue to have their tribal customs and freedoms and are fighting for it! NATO go home! Scale back! Get out! We keep hearing how tough Afghani's are. Prove it! Pakistan has shown what they want and so has Afghanistan. Can't we take a frigging hint?
We keep hearing how we must get to Taliban moderates and Afghan moderates well get with it do it now and let them fight for their country. Moderate tribesmen in parts of militant-ravaged north-west Pakistan are challenging Taliban extremists threatening to overrun their area, in what will develop into a mass resistance movement. That is what Afghanistan must do!
America and NATO must get out! We have been there 11 years, more than twice as long as WW2, now our longest war! If Afghanistan wanted freedom from the Taliban they would already be trained and fighting for it instead of just letting themselves be killed as pawns.
Our soldiers did their job leave now with heads held high not our tails between our legs like in Saigon! Give food and supplies to the Afghans and if they want their freedom they will fight for it like the Pakistani tribes are. We should be helping Pakistan who has proved they want their freedom from Taliban and Sharia law. Don't keep adding more troops this is Afghanistan graveyard of Nations. Cheat history get out now!
We just discussed this 2 weeks ago. look at the quickly growing History of these insulting deaths These events are happening more often. They do not want us there, get out and leave them to their own demise.

Iranian General threaten's Turkey that they are next in line for violence:
Highlights: 48 Iranian hostages are supposedly "retired IRG and regular Army troops, Iranian General threatens Turkey that they are next in line for violence: Bashar Al-Assad threatens to set the middle east and especially Israel on fire and it will lead to WW3
Syrian President Bashar Assad threatened to set fire to the Middle East, and especially Israel, if NATO (the United States’ surrogate military force) attacks Syria. Assad said: “If a crazy measure is taken against Damascus, I will need not more than six hours to transfer hundreds of rockets and missiles to the Golan Heights to fire them at Tel Aviv.”
According to the Fars news agency, the Syrian president stressed that Damascus will also call on Hezbollah in Lebanon to launch a fierce rocket and missile attack on Israel, such that Israeli intelligence could never imagine. “All these events will happen in three hours, but in the second three hours, Iran will attack the US warships in the Persian Gulf and the US and European interests will be targeted simultaneously,” Assad said.
That said, everything else said here will be put into perspective
The State Department tells CBS News it has no reason to doubt Syrian rebels' claims that 48 Iranians they are holding hostage are members of Iran's elite Revolutionary Guard military unit. Iran has flatly denied the claim that the hostages are military personnel, insisting they are all civilians who were in Syria to visit the Sayyida Zainab shrine, south of Damascus, when they were abducted.
The shrine has been frequented by Shiite Muslim pilgrims in the past, including many from Iran. On Wednesday, however, Iran's foreign minister Ali Akbar Salehi was quoted by the Islamic Republic's government-controlled media as saying, "some retired individuals from the Guards and army" were among those being held.
Iranian General threatens Turkey that they are next in line for violence: A suggestion by Iran’s top general that Turkey is next in line for violence after Syria are “unacceptable," the Turkish Foreign Minister said today, but added that Ankara would nevertheless agitate for the release of Iranian nationals being held hostage in Syria. Iranian Chief of Staff Hasan Firuzabadi’s statement came on the eve of a snap visit to Ankara by Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi.
The two countries' foreign ministers held talks today regarding the situation in Syria and the 48 Iranian pilgrims being held hostage by Syrian rebels in Damascus. "I told [Salehi] that Iranian officials should seriously consider their words before issuing statements," Iran and Turkey differ on their approach to the incidents in Syria, but the party responsible for this difference of opinion was "no one else" but the Syrian regime, which has used heavy weapons against its own people, Davutoğlu said.
before Bush went after Iraq he had designs on Syria, Lebanon, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt when all is said and done. We are all observing age old hatreds play out and Sunni against Shiite, Persian against Arab hate is only serving to make a already volatile region and situation worse. The united States and Iran's IRG have both been instigating for war since day one now it will come at the behest of Syria's Assad.
The Perle-Wurmser policy document demanded: 1) Destroy Yasser Arafat and the Palestinian Authority, blaming them for every act of Palestinian terrorism, including the attacks from Hamas, an organization which Sharon had helped launch during his early 1980s tenure as Minister of Defense. 2) Induce the United States to overthrow the Saddam Hussein regime in Iraq. 3) Launch war against Syria after Saddam's regime is disposed of, including striking Syrian military targets in Lebanon, and targets in Syria proper. 4) Parlay the overthrow of the Ba'athist regimes in Baghdad and Damascus into the "democratization" of the entire Arab world", including through further military actions against Iran, Saudi Arabia, and "the ultimate prize," Egypt. a clean break Think about what is going on now in Egypt, Syria, and throughout the middle east. Now do you see it differently?
That plan was formulated in 1996 before they found a fool to push it through in 2003. I knew about that but did not know about this. The term “New Middle East” was introduced to the world in June 2006 in Tel Aviv by U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. She is credited with coining the phrase. I am disturbed with the role she played because she sat on chevron's board before she became Secretary of State to push Bush's plan through. We have discussed that and her and Cheney's role in energy and Afghanistan in the past and will again but for now:
Bush with his illegal attack against Iraq freed Iran up to pursue her version of new middle East order by interfering wherever she could while Bush was doing the same thing with his Middle East Democratization program. I think you can see how successful Bush and Cheney were with chaos creating Middle East Democracy program but you are barely seeing the results they created in Iran.
As many of you know by now my prime concern in Yemen was the interference by Iran in trying to get Shiite dominance there. Bush freed Iran up to pursue her version of new middle East order by interfering wherever she could while Bush was doing the same thing with his Middle East Democratization program.I n Yemen once again the Iranian Revolutionary Guard is the instigator. They are ferrying weapons through Eritrea to Yemen. They are now avoiding the Arabian Peninsula as Saudi Arabia has instituted a blockade along the coast of Yemen. Iran’s Revolutionary Guard has also transported Lebanese Hezbollah fighters to fight with the rebels.
Worse Russia, North Korea and China are there waiting to step in.
WW3?
