Interpol Issues 'Red Notice' for WikiLeaks Founder
Lawyer: Assange is being persecuted in Sweden The lawyer for Wiki Leaks founder Julian Assange says that the decision to add the 39-year-old Australian to Interpol's most wanted list shows that his client is being persecuted. He damn well should be. He now says he is going to release mega documents and bring the banking industry down. Assange is ruthless scum and just wants to bring the US down.
Whatever it takes he must be shut up and now! Australia, Turkey, Russia, Middle East Nations, they are all down playing Wiki leaks but they all want him stopped. He wants Hillary fired and spying by US diplomats stopped. Like it or not that is what Governments do, all of them. Ruthless pompous self serving Assange should be stopped and now before he does some real damage.
If Assange was in Russia , China, Iran, or anywhere else he would already be dead along with his family. There is nothing honorable or righteous about his intentions. Just look at his face his intent is nothing but malicious and vengeance. I hope you read the Wikipedia about him. He was not imprisoned for being good in doing this in the past. He is ruthless and unconcerned about what he has done. He better be held accountable and even though he is not a US citizen we can do it and it should already be done.
Because of damaging wartime leaks by Wiki Leaks operator Julian Assange, Assange should be prosecuted and possibly executed by the U.S. government for wartime espionage. Title 18 U.S. Code, Section 794, Paragraph (b) reads:
"Whoever, in time of war, with intent that the same shall be communicated to the enemy, collects, records, publishes, or communicates, or attempts to elicit any information with respect to the movement, numbers, description, condition, or disposition of any of the Armed Forces, ships, aircraft, or war materials of the United States, or with respect to the plans or conduct, or supposed plans or conduct of any naval or military operations, or with respect to any works or measures undertaken for or connected with, or intended for the fortification or defense of any place, or any other information relating to the public defense, which might be useful to the enemy, shall be punished by death or by imprisonment for any term of years or for life."
The New York Times, the Guardian and Der Spiegel who coordinated the publication of his leaks should be prosecuted too, I agree they might find the following Subsection (c) also to be a revealing read: "If two or more persons conspire to violate this section, and one or more of such persons do any act to effect the object of the conspiracy, each of the parties to such conspiracy shall be subject to the punishment provided for the offense which is the object of such conspiracy."
According to the New York Times, "Justice Department lawyers are exploring whether Mr. Assange and Wiki Leaks could be charged with inducing, or conspiring in violations of the Espionage Act." They damn sure have and the more I think about it the more I see so called extremists very happy and emboldened. They were picking up anyway but they are now empowered to go full bore. These people should all be in custody already though the damage is done and I can't believe we are playing games. This is no game!

Julian Assange cannot be found guilty of violating Title 18 U.S. Code, Section 794 because congress has not declared war. He is a hero.
Exposing the idiocracy of the US defense department is the patriotic duty of all of us. The extent to which this has not been yet done shames us all.
When morons at the Pentagon behave like spoiled children, it takes people like Julian Assange and Private First Class Bradley Manning to show them as the childish bullies that they are. James Joiner is behaving like a raving idiot for blindly defending them.
I don't think he is a hero; these Leaks are not the Pentagon Papers. They're day-to-day diplomatic discussions and the equivalent of when someone accidentally hits "reply all"on an email and the entire conversation about everyone behind their back suddenly gets sent out to everyone on the list who's been discussed. Embarassing, perhaps; undermining our ability to negotiate with other countries, definitely. But not heroic, as nothing of real value was disclosed.
However, the intent to release this information was not benign. It's just lucky that nothing really dangerously secret was exposed. However, no matter what we think of him, Assange can't be convicted of treason since he is not a U.S. citizen.
Well if they are going to convict this guy then maybe they should take a look at the leaks. They could convict Clinton for espionage. Stealing credit card numbers and personal information is a crime you know.
And as I came to the conclusion quite a while back that the Saudis were funding Al Qaeda, this just proves that I was right.

There in lies the problem. When too much is done in secret then usually bad things happen like illegal detentions, torture and murder all in the name of "National Security". And from a historical stand point we've seen this repeat itself over and over again from Nazi Germany to present day Darfur. Even Gates has said that this whole matter is little more than an embarrassment.

I would be calling for the prosecution of Cheney, Libby and Rove for leaking covert operative Valerie Wilson's identity, before worring about "embarassments" of messages that were not top secret.
When sued for warrantles surveillance the govt. demanded unprovable proof of damage from a secret program. Let's turn that around and demand the government show proof of harm from the leaks.

Setting aside the question of the right of the US government to try a foreign national for treason and your remarks about the Guardian and Der Speigel which, last time I looked, owed no allegiance to your country, just what damage has been done? In the case of the UK, our government has been exposed for agreeing for the USA to hold cluster bombs on our soil - illegal here actually; it has been exposed for agreeing to conceal embarassing documents from the enquiry into the UK's involvement in Iraq; more is to come and all being well we will see some creeping apologies from the craven f**kwits in office here. If that's damage then bring it on.
Otherwise the bulk is tittle tattle relayed by your diplomats about foreign politicians in exactly the same way that foreign diplomats relay gossip about your folk. All of which can be gleaned from reading the press.

Richard to me the biggest crime some say is the illegal dumping of millions of secret documents affecting the entire world.
