Bush tried desperately on Thursday to defuse the news that the three biggest telephone firms in the US provided the National Security Agency with the records of billions of calls made by Americans.
The companies' cooperation with the spy agency has created the largest calls database in the world, allowing the agency to track the number of calls made and their frequency and duration, and search for other patterns in communication.
The newspaper believed no agents listened to the content of the calls .We're supposed to believe this? Only one company, Qwest Corporation, which operates in 14 western states, refused to help the agency. It said it had concerns about the legality of the taps.
The NSA threatened to cut off Qwest's classified contracts if Nacchio didn't agree to provide the caller information, USA Today reported.(typical Bush crap)The NSA threatened, however, to cut off Qwest's classified contracts if Nacchio didn't agree to provide the caller information, USA Today reported. http://www.dailykos.com/story/2006/5/12/16145/5516 What a surprise!
President George W. Bush on Thursday took the rare step of publicly denying that his administration was spying on Americans, after a media report claimed the National Security Agency was collecting the phone records of tens of millions of Americans.
It's not our fault we will have the ability to track whoever we want and do what we want!
We're not mining or trolling through the personal lives of millions of innocent Americans,"
We will just be able to monitor every single household in the country, and you know he can't be trusted to do the right thing or be honest!
Mr Bush said in a brief statement to reporters. "Our efforts are focused on links to al-Qaeda and their known affiliates." you might have them in your house so we have to check out everyone. That makes sense.
It is not what he says it is how he says it! He is the decider, you have to parse his words.he is going to lie! That is the only thing you can bank on!
It is very disturbing that, on the same day we learn that the NSA has been secretly collecting the phone records of tens of millions of Americans, we also learn that the Department of Justice has abruptly cancelled its investigation into the agency's warrant-less wire tapping program," You know this is from Bush! If its above board why worry? http://msnbc.msn.com/id/12743895/
He will abuse and misuse any right he declares his. In this case it is the wiretapping. It isn't the wiretapping many disagree with. It is the fact that you know he is going to lie about it, misuse it, and use it for political gain.
In a few posts in the past we discussed this plus the fact that in order to say he is only having calls coming into the country checked. We are having calls made inside the country, routed outside and then back in.
Also, we know he has been tracking anti war advocates. There is no drawing a line anywhere by his own admission. Trust him, Yeah right!
He is the Decider and he will do whatever he deems necessary and find an excuse for it later justifiable or not. He is the Decider! He can do whatever he wants and to hell with You!
He will lie again and get away with it!
