immigration Protests: were they productive Or Counterproductive?

First I have to say I agree with this!
Only in America can thousands of illegal immigrants protest quite legally.

Only in America can they demand things of a system that really doesn't owe them anything.

We hear conflicting stories on the results of the Day Without Immigrants!
They turned out fewer people than the big demonstration of late March. By the standards of that day — and the ambitions of the organizers — there should have been five million people on the streets Monday. Instead there were one million

When I first heard of the plan I was afraid it might backfire!
Now I think I Might Have been right!

This is from Democrat Tom Kovach, Rather than making points for legalizing illegal immigrants, the recent rash of protests are turning more and more Americans against not just illegal immigrants, but also the legal ones.

Colorado Rep. Tom Tancredo, leader of House Republicans opposed to a guest-worker program supported by President George W. Bush, said the May 1 walkout by hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants and supporters was destined to backfire.

To me this reaction is like that of a little kid! A useless move of desperation!

Mexican President Vicente Fox will sign into law a measure that decriminalizes the possession of small amounts of marijuana, cocaine, heroin and other drugs for personal use, his spokesman said Tuesday.

You have to suffer so much, it's not worth it say recently rescued attempted border crossers. With minutemen crawling all over the place. Tensions up along the border. And heats reaching 120 degrees in the deserts it is not worth the risk.

My whole thought is this! With things as bad as they may be here. With things as bad as they are trying to get here. With all the sacrifices, insecurity, and questions.
It seems to me that if things are that bad at home then you should get active and change them for the better, for your future, for your families future, for your countries future!
What do you think?
