Israel, Iran, the US: our future is tied but not good!
We heard about preparations yesterday but today I have both sides and the consequences of an Israeli attack on Iran! I have been saying for years now that an Israeli attack on Iran was unavoidable and long in the planning. I have done numerous stories on it saying coming to Israel's aid will be our way of getting at Iran. Israel has long declared their willingness to attack if necessary and are now thanks to us armed, prepared, and are practicing!
American military officials say Israel launched a major military exercise that appeared to be aimed in part at demonstrating its ability to stage an attack on Iran's nuclear facilities. Israel's military refused to publicly confirm or deny whether the exercise was a rehearsal for a potential bombing attack. But a senior Israeli Air Force official close to the operation told FOX News that the military is preparing for all possibilities with Iran, and during this exercise was testing its refueling capabilities. The source said helicopters were even used to practice how to respond to a downed plane. An Israeli fighter pilot also confirmed to FOX News that he took part in the mock air mission in mid-May. Pentagon officials said Israel sent dozens of aircraft on the large-scale mission in the eastern Mediterranean. The aircraft used in the drill, F-15s and F-16s, flew a distance of about 900 miles — similar to the distance between Israel and uranium-enrichment facilities at Natanz, Iran, officials said. One defense official said the exercise could be taken as a show of force to Iran and a demonstration to the world that Israel is serious about the need to challenge the country's nuclear program — and might be prepared to do so militarily.
"They have been conducting some large-scale exercises — they live in a tough neighborhood," one U.S. official said, though he offered no other recent examples. Another defense official told FOX News that the "dry run" was the second time in three months Israel has carried out such a drill. The official said the reports on the mission were probably the result of a deliberate leak from the Pentagon to send a signal to Iran — and even Israel — about a potential strike against Iran.Privately, Pentagon officials grimace at the idea of Israel striking Iran, fearing the unintended consequences of such an attack. The Jerusalem Post reported that a senior cleric in Iran warned Israel, in response to the drill, that it would react to such a strike with a "strong blow." The New YorkTimes first reported Friday that more than 100 Israeli fighter jets took part in the maneuvers over the eastern Mediterranean and Greece. Citing undisclosed American officials, it said the exercise appeared to be an effort to focus on long-range strikes. "They wanted us to know, they wanted the Europeans to know and they wanted the Iranians to know," a Pentagon official told the Times. "There's a lot of signaling going on at different levels."(okay we know)
The source said the air force got permission from the countries along the Mediterranean to fly the mission. The Israeli Air Force needed permission to conduct the exercise from all the countries whose air space was entered, according to the official. The Israeli planes flew above civilian air space to avoid disrupting any passenger jets. U.S. officials, however, did not believe Israel had decided to attack Iran or think such a strike was imminent. Asked to comment, the Israeli military issued a statement saying only that the Israeli air force "regularly trains for various missions in order to confront and meet the challenges posed by the threats facing Israel." Israeli military analyst Martin Van Creveld of Jerusalem's Hebrew University said military preparations for a possible attack are indeed under way.
"Israel has been talking about this possibility for a long time, that it would not take an Iranian nuclear weapon lying down. And it has been practicing the operation or operations for a long time," he said. But though an Israeli strike would likely be able to "paralyze the most important Iranian nuclear installations," it probably won't be able to destroy the program entirely, Van Creveld said. "I would be very surprised if Israel can really knock out every part of this program, which by all accounts appears to be large and well-concealed and well-dispersed," he said. Israeli government spokesman Mark Regev offered no comment beyond the military's statement. Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert has said he prefers that Iran's nuclear ambitions be halted by diplomatic means, but has pointedly declined to rule out military action. In an interview with the German magazine Der Spiegel published on Wednesday, Olmert said the current international sanctions against Iran would probably not succeed alone, adding there were "many things that can be done economically, politically, diplomatically and militarily." Asked if Israel was capable of taking military action against Iran, Olmert said, "Israel always has to be in a position to defend itself against any adversary and against any threat of any kind." Israeli Military Demonstrates Ability to Attack Iran, U.S. Officials Say
*Personally I believe it will open up a hornets nest and Russia if not China will protect their interests and help Iran. Israel has long feared a three pronged attack from Iran, Syria, and Hamas. There are on going efforts to mitigate the threat from Syria and hopefully have a peaceful neighbor in Palestine as the inevitable war with Iran comes closer. In response to learning about Israel's preparations Iran has said it considers a military attack on its nuclear facilities by Israel as "impossible". "Such audacity to embark on an assault against the interests and territorial integrity of our country is impossible, said spokesman Gholam Hoseyn Elham. The statement follows reports in the US media that Israeli aerial maneuvers over the eastern Mediterranean were a possible test-run for a strike on Iran. Iran discounts 'attack by Israel
Impossible or not they are prepared! Iran would respond to an Israeli attack on nuclear facilities with a ``heavy blow,'' a senior cleric said, following a New York Times report that Israel carried out an exercise that could prepare it for such a strike. Ayatollah Ahmad Khatami leading Friday prayers in Tehran, said today that Iran favored dialogue and would resist ``mischievous acts,'' the state-run Islamic Republic News Agency said. Such an attack would prompt an ``uproar on the part of our nation,'' Khatami said. ``If enemies, especially Israelis and their U.S. supporters, wish to speak in the language of force, they should rest assured they will be dealt a heavy blow on the face by the Iranian nation,'' the ayatollah said, according to IRNA.
Khatami spoke after the report in today's Times that the Israeli military had carried out maneuvers this month over the eastern Mediterranean with more than 100 F-16 and F-15 fighters as well as refueling tankers. Citing unidentified U.S. officials, the report said that the 900-mile (1,450-kilometer) range exercise could be a rehearsal for an attack against the Iranian nuclear plant in Natanz and Iran's long-range conventional missiles. Iran doesn't recognize Israel and President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has repeatedly predicted the end of the Jewish state. Crude oil rose today following the Times report that Israel held a rehearsal for a potential bombing attack on Iranian nuclear targets, and as the weaker dollar enhanced the appeal of commodities as a currency hedge. Iran Would Respond to Attack With `Heavy Blow
** Just wait until you see what else happens as a result of Israel attacking Iran and our inevitable involvement! Can anyone say gas and food rationing and that is just the beginning? As you know, fighting terrorism was merely the excuse to impose this so called new world order. The other main powers are doing the same damn thing. All it means is hell for a future and again as I say unless bringing about the end of days as I think it is, is the goal we are in more than serious trouble because someone will have to live in the mess that is left. Again as you know, I have said numerous times, this will dwarf the hundred years war in length dwarfing WW2 and the great depression combined. It is getting closer and it will not matter who is our President. They will run to Israel's aid and get this entire new world order Forever War going.

The cease-fire went into effect on Thursday. There are two significant factors in this cease-fire:
First, the truce means Israel has given Hamas de facto recognition, acknowledging that the US-backed blockade has not worked.
Second, although Hamas's charter calls for the destruction of Israel, with this truce Hamas showed a willingness to co-exist with Israel as Hamas's leaders have said they will pursue a long-term truce in order to build a Palestinian state.
Whether this cease fire holds or not, those two points are a huge step forward. Being a glass half full kind of gal, I see this as quite hopeful.

You are good! I have my story in my head but am just sitting down to get it together. i have never had faith with peace in the middle east but because of what I am preparing I believe there is a chance with a Palestine that will co-exist ith Israel. This is getting ready to ratchet up regardless of who our President is. Our friend naj use to get mad at me when I spoke of an attack on Iran as being a foregone conclusion but now she sees these idiots for what they are. It was set in 93 and it is coming! A deal with Hamas is only coomon sense as it is with Syria and it is still ongoing.
The Israel issue will be on-going for years to come. In my opinion, I think we should dump them and let them handle their own country without our help. But I know this would be political suicide for any politician.
I believe that Israel should not exist. Religions don't need a homeland and neither do the Jews. They have fit well into all the countries in the world.
If the Zionists had invaded California in 1948 like they did in Palestine, and named it Israel, believe me they would have been removed a long time ago.

I hear you! The thing is like it or not our existence has been tied in to Israel. Those in charge of us have pledged to protect Israel's existence at the cost of our own. It seems to me to be tied top the belief that the Israelites are the chosen people. I was going to link this to Jerome and Danny and see what they say. I know I am dead right and they keep saying we are not that stupid but oh yes we are!
fireassay
Welcome! Nice to have your input! You must have just read what I sent to Karen. Personally at this point I don't think we should be sticking our noses in anyones business and let them work it out themselves if they can.
I do not like that Bush has sworn to come to the defense of ex Russian satellites nor do I like that we keep telling China we will come to Taiwan's Defense. With S Korea the Balkans the Philippines and everything else we are way over extended.
Personally I happen to agree with what Ahmadinejad said long ago and that was that if Europe felt so guilty about what happened to the jews during WW2 then they should give them part of their country. It appears to be the old NIMBY rule!
I have a feeling that there will not be true peace until Iran actually acquires a nuclear deterrent. While I'm against nuclear proliferation, it would seem nuclearized countries are the only ones we respect. The U.S. and Israel are basically upset because Iran challenges their military hegemony. In some ways we're like the bully in the class that ups his ante when the bullied kids figure out a way to foil his advances. Its like we can destroy them utterly, but if they try to change that relationship, we'll destroy them sooner.
The peace will not last. If you listened to Olmert's words in that video clip, you hear him calling the Palestinians "despicable, blood-thirsty terrorists". Sure doesn't sound like someone looking for peace to me.
With casualties being over 400 for the Palestinians, and only 7 for Israel, which group sounds like 'despicable, blood-thirsty terrorists'?
If my grandpappy were alive today, he'd be saying of Israel, "That boy has gotten to big for his britches".
If we were to back away from kissing Israel's kiester, and they were left to fend for themselves, I can guarantee there would be peace.........one way or another.
Given that Ahmadinejad is a crackpot. But logistically speaking, he is not in charge. And I believe we would have gone the same path on the nuclear issue no matter who was president.
Many times, an extremist is somebody who has been through extremes ...
100, 000 Iranians died during the Iran-Iraq war as a result of chemical weapons provided partly by companies in the east coast of the United States ... Our only democratic government ever to exist was ousted in a coup led by the CIA ...
Today, we are living under daily threats of war.
People only have so much tolerance.
googleads
man you hit that on the head! Sorry I took so long one of my sons just called and we talked for an hour. He is at Charleston right now and his wing is on alert but he can't tell me anything!
The thing that stinks is you are right about the nukes and Israel is about to try to neutralize them but that will get us involved and Russia n special forces have long standing orders to defend their interests there. Another of my sons is in Iraq near Iran. What the hell is next? Despite what we hear, it doesn't matter who is the next President is they will help Israel.
by the way Welcome and thanks for speaking up!
Brother
You are entirely right and I agree with your Grandfather! Instead we weaponize them along with the Saudis and others who most likely will turn on us and those we aren't weaponizing Russia and China is. No there will be no peace as everyone thinks they can fight and win their version. There will be a total middle east Breakdown and then this entire mess will really get going. No there will be no peace!
pedestrian
Welcome! Knowing everything you said is true and then some it led me a while ago to do a couple of story's wondering what our real motivations for war are. We are always instigating and always at war.
We the people are well intentioned but I no longer trust our Governments motivations and did a couple stories wondering? We have been at war almost every year of our entire history and we always seem to be covertly instigating while trying to appear the hapless victim as the war mongering Bush is trying to do.
We the people are well intentioned but I no longer trust our Governments motivations
Absolutely.
When I said: people only have so much tolerance
I did not mean that after this tolerance is over, and they become extremists, they are at all legitimate or right.
Rather, that is the point where "governments" can come in and exploit them. People want justice; and they will listen to whoever promises it to them.
It always makes me wonder though: relatively speaking, the United States has been a safe place. Especially before 9/11, it's people have have been out of harm's way (in comparison to many other countries).
But even before 9/11, America has often been engaged in war. Many times, the American people have supported these wars.
I don't understand that. As I think support for brutality only comes from people who have seen it done to them as well.
I don't understand how otherwise - relatively - safe, comfortable people support the propagation of violence.
We are being exploited now as you know. 9/11 was allowed to happen to rally Americans behind the hidden aganda of the right. Fighting terrorism is just the excuse. They are the tool. peace and honesty loving Americans are the real enemy.
Churchill said all we have to fear is fear itself. Taking that lesson to heart the right is giving us as much to fear as they can to keep this mis-aganda going.
Generally in the past we are against war to start but the Government seems to allow things to happen(I will go to my brave absolutely convinced we let Pearl Harbor happen to whip the people into a frenzy, look at the evidence I am absolutely 100% totally convinced we are witnessing the very beginning and remember the environment is already heading south!
You know I agree with you, Jim, and I'm not nit-picking when I say this. I know you're a stickler about typos. The quote, "The only thing we have to fear is fear itself" was from FDR in his first inaugural address in 1933. It's in the first paragraph.
Hi Jim,
Iran has a formidable arsenal of missiles.
Should the Israelis attack, using warplanes, the missile response will reach Israel before those planes return home.
In fact, the Iranians could be justified in firing those missiles the moment the Israelis enter Iranian airspace...
Israel, like America has several trillion dollars worth of outmoded weaponry.
For every warplane that Israel sends to Iran, the Iranians can respond with over 100 very accurate missiles. (much cheaper, faster and with no pilots!)
Iran has enough missile power to take out Tel Aviv and many other cities....completely and utterly with millions of human casualties..
Will the jews risk loosing several million citizens?
I really don`t think the Israelis will attack, they know full well that they are outgunned and have little chance of survival.
The sheer hypocrisy of thenm shouting about the Iranian nuclear programme, whilst having secretly built over 100 nuclear warheads is beyond belief.
Oh yes, and should the US join the battle, Iran has a few submarines, also armed with missiles, and should one of these make it to either of the American coasts, then who would be suprised of New York or L.A. went up in smoke.
The Iranians have promised too, that if the US joined battle, then the Baghdad "green zone" will be obliterated, along with the brass that are currently srutting therein..
I reckon (and hope!), that by November, given the failing economic and military fortunes of the US and Israel, that we will see some moves towards peace.
The main worry is the religious idiots who think that by blowing up half the world they will encourage the "happy rapture/return of christ/will of allah".
These people are trouble enough, but the thought that many of them actually are in uniform, with access to weapons is a horrible thought.
Peace/shalom/salam..
Got to go to work, back later.!
The people of Israel no more want a war with Iran than do those people in the U.S.
Bush is behind the future attack of Israel on Iran and he will use this attack to join in to "protect" Israel thus launching his dream of World War III.
Check out this article Jim on the Super Corridor:
Steve Lendendman
All right Brother!
Ge that was no typo just my recollection of him saying it. I do not know where it originated so thanks Bud i will check out the link now. I have to laugh I thought I Miissedspilled something. Ha!
landsker
Thanks for the input Bud! I know we have increased our funds and advanced weaponry and missile defensed improvements as the Russians and Chinese have both done for Iran. We are also arming the rest of the middle east we think is on our side and all this will turn into a fireball that will soon spread around our already failing planet. Unfriggenbelievable!
Landsker
Not only does Iran have a few subs but Russia has reopened their sub base in Syria to counter us. A lot of their equipment is advanced and they man it with firm instructions to defend their interests.
The Iranian's have long threatened that there are already thousands here ready to take action and opened a school called "suicide 101" i wrote about both those subjects too.
Knowing what you said about the US anjd Israel is dead on and that this entire mess will only end up one way is why I have also writen numerous times that bringing about the 'End of Days" has to be the goal because some will be left but that has to be the only known outcome. I can only hope there is a God and he takes retribution on Bush and the rest who are destroying his planet. Yah Weh is not user friendly!
larry
Right on! And it gets closer every day. Average Jews do not want war any more than average Americans or average citizens around the world but we know we do not matter and are powerless and just along for the terrible ride!
larry
Thanks for the link to Lendenman. Nice to see a fellow Bostonian who gets it though we have long said despite efforts already in the courts like everything else with this chief idiot nothing will stop this crap. I was disappointed that I could not find a place to comment on Steve's site!
At the end of it all, Jim, maybe the Russians and Chinese have already "won". No-one doubts that the godless "former communists" are not only supplying the Iranians with political tactics and advanced weaponry, but also manipulating in some ways, the current wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The danger from Bush as a loose cannon has most likely been anticipated by the Russians, and I would not be suprised if rather than having faith in a "greater power", they have "agents and plans in place", should their interests or investments be overly threatened.
It`s going to be an interesting few months, one thing for certain, both America and Britain are heading towards a financial crash of some unknown quantity, whilst China and Russia are both holding large budget surpluses.
Like a game of cards, when players run out of chips, they stop playing...or they try to steal from the other players!
Landsker
The Russian's and Chinese have already won. This house of cards is just beginning to crumble.
Instead of capitalizing of the end of the cold war we chose to brag about it and use it in our favor instead of for the better of the world.
Mistake! Russia and China are now bankrupting us and I fully expect it to all blow as early as this fall but no longer believe it is constrained by who is our next President as their bed is being made for them!
