In a diplomatic shift, Russia joins the call for Gadhafi to step down as Gaddafi support is waning & he refuses to leave his Libya

As the country crumbles around him as we knew from day one Gaddafi declares he will not leave "his country" as Libya's Gaddafi: I will not leave my country, Muammar Gaddafi is emphatic he will not leave Libya, South African President Jacob Zuma said on Tuesday after talks with the Libyan leader that left prospects for a negotiated end to the conflict looking dim.

In diplomatic shift, Russia calls for Gadhafi to step down

8 Libyan Generals, 100 Soldiers Defect

Libya rebels eye OPEC meet as oil minister 'defects' Libya's regime had its back to the wall as it faced NATO air strikes, the apparent defection of its oil minister and threats of prosecution by the International Criminal Court.

Small signs suggest waning support for Gaddfafi: Young men waved their assault rifles in the air, spraying celebratory gunfire. Others let off fireworks. Drivers honked and leaned out of their cars waving green flags and chanting in support of Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi. Gaddafi's regime has been trying to cover the ever thinning rank of supporters showing up at his rallies. The bombings, food rationing, gas rationing, it is all weighing on the people and getting rid of Gaddafi will stop it immediately. They know it but my concern is what comes next?

Explosions Rattles Libyan Capital: Several huge explosions rocked Tripoli on Saturday as NATO carried out rare, daytime air strikes.

NATO strikes 1 of Gadhafi's homes in Tripoli: An alliance spokesman said the Bab al-Aziziyah compound in Tripoli was hit in the early hours of Saturday. That same compound was badly damaged by U.S. warplanes 25 years ago in response to a bombing that had killed two U.S. servicemen at a German disco. They say Gaddafi was not the target, awe come on!

Gaddafi will go nowhere despite all efforts to persuade him to leave as we said would be the case on day one! Glad to see this is going the way of the rebels and wonder what Libya and the region will look like without Gaddafi? That said it sickens me that we have frozen multiple $Billions of Gaddafi's assets and the rebels have been selling oil so I refuse to believe they are looking for funding. Stupid us will give it to them to. At the very least they should be given Gaddafi's Billions and should be paying us for the personnel and materials used in our efforts to help them acquire their freedom.

We are beginning to recognize the rebel Government more and more and more of the world are coming forward and speaking up against Gaddafi., that I am afraid means we are in this for the long haul and will have to come to the rescue if this goes south instead of leaving the rebels to their own demise. I am very concerned because this is not just Libya, this is all the tribes in the region many of who are right now receiving $1000 a day to fight for Gaddafi. I am convinced the end of Gaddafi is just the beginning of this mess.

I am afraid this is just beginning unless we can kill them all and we can't so WTF are we doing there? We can't go in Osama style with seal team 6. Our only option is to get the hell out of there and supply the rebels with arms food money and medicine unless Gaddafi tries to mine the sea ports again. I said it when we first got involved in Libya but this whole thing just blows me away. Then there is Syria, Iran, and the rest of the middle east and Africa.

I said from the beginning in Libya that if we are serious we had to go directly after Tripoli and Gaddafi's extensive military assets there. We are finally doing that. If there was a way to totally neutralize Gaddafi's heavy weapons and defenses those rebels may stand a chance. Still, remembering Gaddafi's original statement that many thousands will be killed I am afraid he is getting closer to using his cyanide, mustard gas and vast reserves of chemical weapons.

As you know, Gaddafi already issued gas masks to those doing his murdering for him. What choice will we have but to drop a MOAB (mother of all bombs) or a 30,000 pound bunker buster in the middle of his compound designed to dig 7 or 8 stories underground before detonating and take as many of them out as we can. They are not going to relent period. We can not get any deeper than we are so I am happy to see the rebels making gains but leery with Gaddafi forces encroaching on Tunisia and attempting to widen thus war or whatever you want to call it. Gaddafi and his son Saif will never leave their Libya while they are alive so...

I believe the British are preparing to drop such bombs. And it's not us that's doing this unless you count the mercenaries.

I learned recently that this war started soon after it was announced that Libya was going to the gold standard, and they wanted all of their oil debts settled in gold.

This kind of reminds me of how we invaded Iraq soon after Saddam announced that he would soon be asking his customers to settle all of their oil debts in euros and he would no longer take dollars.

you don't mess with the bankers, their slave states have massive armies, and they'll direct those slave states to take you out.

Yeah I caught that this morning. They are thinking about bunker busters anyway. With him moving 2 or 3 times a night that makes for a lot more dead innocents. He won't give it up I just hope they get him and Saif sooner rather than later.

Wease everything is getting so convoluted as usual and as usual it is on purpose. I just heard this morning that the Euro is failing. I remember about a week ago when some Republicans wanted us to dump all our Gold. WTF? I haven't for a while but I just don't know what to think anymore.

Thanx for the update posting Jim and Morning Greeting's ... I did hear some about the Russian's support concerning Ghadaffi, but what really get's me Jim, is all these folk's who call him evil now, who for year's and year's have supported him, made him rich and the worx ... such a flip- flopping f'd up global society we have man. I remember over a decade ago when I "bad mouthed" Ghadaffi and pointed out what this guy is and bitched about funding this character ... some people looked at me as kind of racist and agaist giving African nation's anything. I'll shut the Hell up now ... this is all a sea of hypocrisy.

RC we turned our backs to what they did to their people as long as they supported us but now that the people turned on them we are on their side, the side of Democracy. I could be missing something or jaded but it seems normal to me.

Wease he is an ass hole isn't he? He is the same guy who looked into Putin and saw a man of gold. I just saw hell!

Is that why we're bombing densely populated urban areas? To bring Democracy?

Are bombs the best solution to all of life's problems?

Of course being a cynic, I tend to think we're bombing Libya for the same reason we bomb any country. So well connected people can make money.
