N. Korea Is Sign of Chilled US-China Relations: Bingo It's about time they got it!

N. Korea Is Sign of Chilled US-China Relations It took so long to contact the instigator China and it is a sign of the deepening freeze between us while the cold war with Russia is thawing.

Is it no surprise that Chinese President Hu Jintao on Monday warned President Barack Obama that tensions on the Korean peninsula could spiral out of control Chinese President Hu Jintao on Monday warned President Barack Obama that tensions on the Korean peninsula could spiral out of control if not dealt with properly, their first discussion on the issue since the North shelled the South nearly two weeks ago. Analysts said Hu's comments showed a greater sense of urgency in the Chinese leadership over the mounting tension and also an attempt to avoid the perception that Beijing is siding with its ally Pyongyang in this faceoff No kidding and China has been instigating all this!

US-Japan military exercises until the 10th

The truth already came out about China who has long warned about our navy in the seas near their coast. Particularly as they flex their increasing military might in the region. They are arming and allowing North Korea to at least instigate a very dangerous war. They do not want millions of refugees flooding China and that is the least of it! China previously warned on Friday against military acts near its coastline ahead of U.S.-South Korean naval exercises that North Korea, days after shelling a South Korean island, said risked pushing the region toward war.

Now Japan is having joint exercises in their waters and rightly so! The joint military exercises - codenamed Keen Sword - are being held to mark the 50th anniversary of the US-Japan alliance. They are intended to be a show of solidarity between the Pacific allies at a time of heightened tension in the region, says the BBC's Roland Buerk in Tokyo. You remember China's recent muscle flexing with military armada's off Okinawa as they express interest in lost Islands and mineral interests below disputed waters.

As a result the drills were planned well before North Korea shelled the South Korean island of Yeonpyeong last month, killing two marines and two civilians, however they come just days after the United States and South Korea carried out their own joint military exercises, putting on a show of force in the Yellow Sea.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said North Korea remained "an immediate threat to the region around it, particularly to South Korea and Japan". North Korea also posed "a medium-term threat, should it collapse, to China", she said. Beijing has criticized the maneuvers and called for more talks with Pyongyang, saying it is better to negotiate than "brandish weapons".

I have a lot of thoughts about this! Hillary is right and Beijing is right. Again however, Beijing has been using North Korea to belligerence in order to keep us off their door step. They have also for as long while been abusing their increasing financial and military strength. Yes in the past we too did it but that time must be over if we are to move successfully through the 21st century.

Wiki leaks at least has let it be known that China would accept a unified Korea as long as we were not there. That will never happen as I am sure I am not the only one that believes China would take advantage of that and pre planned or not that is why exercises with South Korea and Japan were necessary. China can blame themselves!

The recent incident of North Korea firing on South Korea's island and civilians and killing 2 soldiers after a recent visit from the Kim's shows me China is pulling the strings and will not allow there to be peace between the Korea's. This might be just what China is instigating as Japan Calls For Attack On North Korea, Tensions Mount After Shelling and South Korea's military is on crisis status while they continue to hold live fire exercises.

China's real role here is her goal seems to be to keep Democracy off her doorstep and the Kim regime in power because they will remain a puppet whose strings China can pull. Kim Jong Il said he was committed to establishing "a lasting peace system" on the Korean peninsula and to making it nuclear-free "through dialogue and negotiations" a lasting peace system, what is that? donations of food and supplies from us while he maintains his 7 million man army for China and continues to toy with advanced weapons and starve its people?

In the end I don't care what they say. This is a confrontation long in the works. MacArthur was right wanting to go right through North Korea then China back than because it would eventually have to be done. There is a lot behind the scenes to be concerned with here and yes China is our banker but they are over stepping their boundaries. We owe them trillions but with Russia's cooperation we can come out on top here. I fully expect we would and in the end being victors we would cancel our debt to China!

I have had those that point out Russia and the US will never join against China because of Russia and China's connection in the Shanghai cooperation but don't forget China is also connected with South Korea and Japan and look what that's worth. Vladimir Medvedev realizes as I do that Russia and the US need each other and our close relationship is critical to both of us proceeding successfully through the 21st century.

I was in S/Korea in 10/08
I follow it quite a bit, as my wife is Korean. And I would love to retire there.
Here a 2 sites out of many that might interest you.

BTW. I do not believe the official Cheonan version.

RZ you might want to wait awhile until this gets resolved which could be a bit. With starving people the North has nothing to lose.

I have to wait 2 years. Then I hope it will be a go.

Every regime has one purpose. It is to stay in power, or to leave as if still in power.
They are not suicidal. They know that there will be no N/K in a matter of minutes if they attack.
The West would gladly set an example.
China, and the U.S. have been using the North as a ping pong ball. Neither really wants to see peace, on the peninsula.
The S knows that a total collapse of the N would cost them a fortune, and take them right into a depression. China also does not want millions of refugees running across their borders.
The reunification will have to come in stages. Where the N takes on an economic example of China. China MUST introduce N/K back into the world.
The U.S. is not a fair broker in this, just as they are not in the Israeli/Palestinian situation.
China, N/S/Korea should iron this out.
Japan should stay out of it.
There is still too much hatred toward the Japanese by China, and N/S/Korea.
Hell S/Korea is more afraid of the IMF than they are of N/K. LOL

Thanks RZ! I have never been there but we have a relative there teaching English and he is married to a Chinese, a good friends son is on the Washington, and one of my sons plans on going there shortly a third time to be the NCOIC for EOD but who knows.

We obviously have deep ties there but absolutely China is behind this and they want us gone. I saw yesterday that there Rep was in the DPRK to show support.

China id absolutely doing what both the US and Russia have done in the past but this is the worst time!

Demeur North Korea is where the Afghans are, fighting is all they have. The citizens do not matter. If you saw my reply to RZ you know my valid concerns. China is instigating their lapdog and I do not like this one bit!

RZ I will never understand the wiki leaks thing but one good thing that came out of it is thee revelation that China would accept a unified Korea if we were gone.

Knowing their designs in Asia that will never happen so I see no peace here but like the middle east only war. How future is the only question!
