A couple recent discoveries, listen to the Boston Pops and watch the 4th of July fireworks display

Boston Pops last 4 minutes of the 1812 Overture. Wow!

Boston Pops Fourth of July Stars and Stripes Forever!  Boston Pops Fourth of July fireworks Finale! Phenomenal!   After nearly three years of excavation, archaeologists confirmed the discovery of the site of George Washington's boyhood home near the banks of the Rappahannock River in northeast Virginia. Archaeologists found remains of Washington's boyhood home Then to celebrate it A rare and original manuscript of one of America's most patriotic songs has been discovered in a flea market bargain. A shopper browsing through the market in New York bought a framed picture of a flower for $10 and found handwritten manuscript of "America" (My Country 'tis of Thee) tucked behind the picture, the manuscript's owner said Thursday. The manuscript of the song whose lyrics were written by Samuel Francis Smith in 1831 could be worth tens of thousands of dollars, said the owner, art collector Keya Morgan. He said he bought it from the flea market shopper, who has asked not to be identified. The song was intended to be played in schools to inspire and teach children and was first played in public on July 4, 1831, in the First Baptist Church in Newton, Massachusetts, Morgan said. The song is written to the tune of "God Save the Queen," the national anthem of the United Kingdom. Rare song manuscript found in flea market I am trying to lighten up today as one of my sons is here with the grandchildren and we are going to have a little get together so I am squeezing this in! It is primarily a scorcher today in Western Massachusetts but I will try to cook on the grill in celebration of the day. I hope you all can do the same. Have a nice Fourth of July and God Bless America! James Joiner Gardner Ma http://anaverageamericanpatriot.blogspot.com

Good video of the Boston Pops fireworks show! No fireworks here in New Mexico (too dry). Have a wonderful Fourth of July with your family, Jim.

A brief respite from our usual heavy foreign affairs convos I guess is a good thing.

Stay cool my friend.

Thanks Vicki! It's pretty cool being right here and going there all my life. Did you see what I wrote? I kept putting it in paragraphs and when I published this is what it did.

4th of July is a welcome respite but I still had to do all my research. Can't let that go a day, something drastic might happen. One of my sons just got here after a 27 hour drive from Florida, one just got back from his deployment and one called as he is on his way to Patika province "prick better keep an eye on those Afghani's.

Jim is trying to get back one last time before he sews on master and they wont let him lead troops in the field.

He says he carries a loaded 9mm at all times and everyone is fair game. Something listening to his stories, those special forces guys are crazy!
