With a take charge start Obama will keep the movement going as top names surface and thanks to Bush things get worse daily as expected! TGFObama!

The morning after: Putting a team together and what to do?

You have to agree with the thought that Obama could be another FDR because he has to be and he is! "I think this is the passing of an old order," CNN senior political analyst David Gergen said as the results rolled in Tuesday night and the outcome became increasingly evident. "I think what we see ... is a new coalition, a new order emerging. It isn't quite there, but with Barack Obama, for the first time, it's won. It is the Latino vote, it is the bigger black vote that came out. Very importantly, it's the youth vote, the 18- to 29-year-old," said the Harvard University professor and former presidential adviser. CNN spoke to world affairs expert and author Fareed Zakaria about the Obama victory. CNN: Was this a transformative election? Zakaria: Many people have been discussing it from a racial perspective and although that is true, I think it is larger than that.
I think President-elect Obama has the chance to realign the political landscape and to create a governing ideology for the West. CNN: Doesn't that seem like a grand ambition? Zakaria: It is not only ambition, but a result of the times. Conservatives have dominated Western politics for the last three decades because they proposed solutions to the problems of the 1970s -- slow growth, social unrest, and Soviet adventurism. But those solutions don't work anymore. They don't address the problems of today -- an out-of-control financial system, rising inequality, unaffordable health care, poor infrastructure, a broken energy policy. CNN: Isn't what you're describing then a return to the left?

Zakaria: Not really, the world has moved on from the 1960s. Few believe that the government should own the commanding heights of the economy, that central planners should allocate resources and that protectionism will save jobs in the long run. Look at the left in power, from Britain to Australia, and you see pro-market, pro-trade policies aimed at promoting growth. The difference is that they also encourage government efforts in certain areas where the private sector isn't sufficient. Obama could be another FDR

People do not get it! Obama is another FDR! Problem is the situation requiring him has been purposely created in the rights endeavor for a new order. Now it is up to Obama to the old order or even some semblance of order to us and the world order! the question to many as voiced at cnn is The way he won is as significant as his victory itself. Can he keep the movement going? Obama's election has significance way beyond race. The way he raised money and mobilized voters represents a taking back of the country, a grassroots movement, even an uprising, that will have echoes far into the future. Criticized for abandoning the public finance system, he upheld the spirit of reform by breaking the grip of the big donors and special interests. Millions of people contributed to the Obama campaign with the average contribution under $100, a new netroots populism that can sustain him as president during the tough times ahead. His immediate challenge will be figuring out how to keep together and activated this new citizens' army that he created. It will take all his oratorical skills to keep enthusiasm high once he starts making decisions that have no immediate payoffs, and there are no more election-night highs.

Watching him on the stage in Grant Park accepting the acclamation of the voters, he was his same steady self—if anything, more sober-minded. He wasn't flying high with the taste of victory, and his words were pitched as much to those who didn't support him. He didn't mention Martin Luther King, Jr. by name, but his speech borrowed from King in its cadences and aspirations in the same way that President Bush in his speeches drops references to biblical passages that only those in the know would pick up on. "The road ahead will be long. Our climb will be steep. We may not get there in one year or even in one term. But, America, I have never been more hopeful than I am tonight that we will get there. I promise you, we as a people will get there," Obama said as the crowd chanted "Yes we can!" King's final speech before he was assassinated envisioned the Promised Land. "I may not get there with you," he declared in words that would later seem prescient. "But I want you to know tonight that we, as a people, will get to the Promised Land."

When an aide mused aloud in the week before the election why anyone would want the job of president given all the problems, Obama replied that it's the best time to be president because in the midst of crisis it's easier to break down bureaucratic barriers and actually do something. It was a typically analytical response, but he wouldn't be human if he didn't have some qualms about the burdens about to be placed on his slim shoulders. NBC's Tom Brokaw jokingly remarked that once it was clear who had won, Obama had asked for a recount. Indeed, Obama himself had said earlier in the campaign that the possibility of losing didn't wake him up at night; it was the thought of winning.

Obama strategist David Axelrod recalled standing in the green room with Obama minutes before he would go onstage for the debate with John McCain. The days before the high-stakes encounter had been chaotic with the financial crisis breaking around them and McCain declaring he was suspending his campaign and might not attend the debate in order to return to Washington and help craft the bailout package. A day of debate prep was lost in the frantic back and forth with Treasury officials. Axelrod found the tension in the green room "suffocating." He turned to Obama and asked, "Are you nervous?" "Yes, but it's a good kind of nervous," Obama said. "Just give me the Ball. Obama wanted the ball now he has it

This is Obama's time and he seems to have been destined to be here at this dire time in our and the world's history. The entire world can be thankful! To deal with the mess this from MSNBC: Obama is weighing an array of Washington insiders and outsiders, including some Republicans, for top administration posts, according to Democratic officials. Obama has signaled that he will make no Cabinet-level appointments immediately, and his deliberations are tightly held by his closest aides. But that hasn't stopped Democrats and interest groups from circulating lists and offering recommendations to the Obama transition team. Some are surprising, such as former Bush Secretary of State Colin Powell as possible education secretary. Others are high-profile governors or members of Congress. Yet many are also little known to the general public — and may remain so.

I am happy to say we will hopefully no longer have a war monger as President and Obama will only do the right thing for America. It is now up to the world and not Bush whether they choose Peace or violence in dealing with Obama Obama is the steady hand we need at the helm at this time and if we can keep him alive I am supremely confident he is the man to lead us and the world out of the dark tunnel Bush has purposely led us in. He is the shining light we have been waiting for!

Jim, as you know, I have seen the writing on the wall for some time now. Even as others were certain the election would be stolen, I believed the total number of votes for Obama would be too many for them to stop. I believe Obama probably won by an even bigger margin than is currently on the board. They tried. They cheated a little, but in the end, it didn't work. Why? Because we the people decided we needed a transformation to a new style of government.

Yes, I see a little bit of FDR in Obama, but I also see a little bit of JFK, MLK, RFK, and a whole lot of BHO. This is something new.

BHO may borrow from some of the greats, but in the long run, this new direction will be closely guided by what he wrote about in "The Audacity of Hope". I see it already.

Obama wants to return the government to the people and the Constitution. When you look at his new website, you'll notice he has placed the Constitution ABOVE the office of the president in the chain of command. In addition, he is asking "we the people" to make suggestions to the new government. And while that may sound like the way it has always supposed to be, this is the first time in modern history that a new administration has actually been prepared to lead by the example of the citizenry.

Hey Robert
Yes you were right and you know I was one of the ones. I still am nervous until 1/20 and even beyond! What you said is trus! As Bush improved on Fascism and his heroes Mussolini and Hitler Obama will improve on his, MLK, JFK, and RFK. You know suffering their demise is my big concern. Like you I dare to hope as does the entire world!
I just prepared something for tomorrow that has me very pleased as Obama's goal is to undo everything Bush did and give us back our America. What a man!

i hope obama picks the best and brightest -- his task is daunting - but he has room to maneuver with the kind of victory he had.

what we will have is Rush and Coulter and Hannity spewing more and more hate and fear to their ilk. yes they are smaller and less influential -- but they still command sizeable audiences - and they will do EVERYTHING to make obama fail - that is what they want to do - and they have started already.

Hi! The entire world will be pleasantly surprised. I am telling you the guy is a gift and the wise guiding light we need to lead us out of the dark tunnel Bush has led us all down.
He will pick the best and the brightest! It is up to them to pick up the gauntlet or be labeled as partisan Obstructionist!

I just posted that his top priority is undoing everything Bush has done to undermine our Constitution and our America. Now we have to keep hope alive )Obama)
