Romania starts work on US missile defense base: The Missile Defense Facility will be maintained by US service personnel and house SM-3 interceptor missiles as well as radar equipment.

Russia is concerned that the missile system could be used against Russian interests. Moscow has threatened to aim a new generation of missiles at European military targets and deploy its own missile interceptors.

What's next now? Knowing that in the past Russia had expressed their anger over the missile Defence system proposed for Poland and Czechoslovakia and at one point to counter this proposal even offered to have them housed on their soil. Of course this offer was turned down as was the offer by Britain to have them on their soil.

The Bush line was that these systems are needed to counter the threat from Iran and North Korea. That sounds absolutely ludicrous if you ask me. In response to Bush's refusal to not deploy the systems Russia countered when President Vladimir Putin announced that Russia would suspend its compliance with a treaty on conventional arms in Europe that was forged at the end of the Cold War.

Instead, Putin said, the Kremlin would use future compliance with the treaty as a bargaining point in the dispute with United States over its proposals to install missile defences in Europe. Can you blame them?

Putin's announcement, made in his annual address to Parliament, underscored the Kremlin's anger at Washington for proposing a new missile-defense system, which the Bush administration and now Obama  insists is meant to counter potential threats from North Korea and Iran. I thought quite to the contrary! What they are proposing to set up are boost phase interceptors--missiles that target a missile during it's relatively slow lift-off stage while it's still in the atmosphere.

 To accomplish a take down, the chase missile has to take off within 50 seconds--i.e. it has to be in relatively close proximity to the missile it wants to take down. That's why the argument that missiles in Poland and Romania  are supposed to deal with missiles coming from Iran or North Korea is nonsensical. Condi using the word nonsense against Russia gives the game away. They always ascribed their own motivation to others.

Looking at today's statement that Russia cannot alter a U.S. plan to set up a missile defense system in nearby Poland, a senior U.S. official said in an interview published on Wednesday that is likely to stoke Russia's anger over the project. Russia is enraged! "We have listened to them but they have been so intransigent in their position that most NATO allies now support our proposal," he added.

6 years ago U.S. Under secretary of State Nicholas Burns said Russian fears were unjustified as the project was purely defensive and could not be modified to launch attack missiles. These statements by Burns just told ignorant little me that while these systems could not be modified but they were solely to neutralize any interference by Russia in our plans. The only result of these rising tensions and the purposeful politics of confrontation practiced by the U.S. is to bring us closer to WW3 and our goal of what we think will be our version of new world order. Most as usual paid no attention to what was happening in the world or to our demise in the White House when George W Bush was President. I want to remind you why almost 10 years ago some of us started calling Afghanistan pipestan in this part of the lie we are living today. Cheney Bush and Condi did all this. I discussed it ad nauseum. Everyone forgets but remember the secret White House meetings with the so called energy Czars?

They had meetings with the Taliban in the White House and in Crawford. After the Taliban said no to Bush putting a pipeline through Afghanistan Bush threatened to attack them and what a surprise, 9/11 was allowed to happen and we did. This is well worth a quick read at least after the Kennedy stuff but did you ever read we do not have clean hands in Afghanistan

After 10 years of trying to wake up the people, Politicians, MSM, and the world, I am resolved to the fact that the vast majority do not want to know the truth and will not get it until it is too late and I believe it is! There are no surprises here! What is happening with our infrastructure and financial collapse, 9/11, the supposed Anthrax attacks, the lie called the Patriot Act to give Bush the power to subvert our American and world order to emplace his version, the attack on Afghanistan, the slide to Iraq to get into the middle east to help Israel install a buffer zone and new middle east order. To that end as to what is happening around the world have you ever heard about The right's world war maker Randy Scheunemann? Scary very scary he almost succeeded and still may have. There is enough documentation on our oil pipeline in Georgia to circumvent Russia and our efforts to go to war with Russia while once again lying and saying we only want peace but just read that little item on Randy Scheunemann!

Our Founding Father was warning against the Randy Scheunemanns among us, agents hired by foreign powers to deceive Americans into fighting their wars. And none dare call it treason.

In the middle east we have been living a total lie from 9/11 on! You have not heard the truth once! Not on the events of 9/11,the Anthrax attacks which scared Congress to pass the so called Patriot Act and give Bush the abusive power he needed to attack Afghanistan for not allowing his pipeline through Afghanistan. The only remaining obstacle on 9-11 was the remaining agreement between the Taliban and Bridas Corporation

. The Bush Administration, Congress, many in our major media, and even the 9-11 Commission and Cheney Energy Task Force all know about Bridas Corporation because that Argentine oil and gas company was standing in the way of our US oil companies and UK oil companies. The Caspian Basin oil is landlocked and there are only so many ways to get that oil out of the ground, to the ocean ports and into your gas tanks or home heating oil tanks.

What a coincidence huh? There is the direct route from Turkmenistan across Iran to the ocean, but that is not politically popular since the overthrow of the Shah of Iran many years ago. There is: 1.) the route across the Caspian Sea westward, which is extremely costly; and through Azerbaijan through Turkey to the Mediterranean; and 2.) from Turkmenistan through Georgia to the Black Sea; and 3.) through the Ukraine to Europe; and 4.) the Turkmenistan through Afghanistan and Pakistan to the ocean. Until one of those solutions was in place, the holes being drilled into the ground by British Petroleum, Chevron, Exxon and others could not go anywhere and could not produce revenues for those companies.

A route northward through Russia would put US oil companies at risk to changes in Russian politics and the Eastward route through China was not deemed secure enough since China is soon to become the second largest user of petroleum in the world after the United States.

In short, the people that were in the Cheney Energy Task Force were the same people that stood to gain if we attacked Afghanistan and took the deal away from the Taliban and Bridas Corporation. They had spent years getting the deals, invested billions into drilling and could not turn a dollar of cash flow or profits until that pipeline was under US control. That is Economics 101 and when one considers that there is over $12 trillion in oil at stake and over $3 trillion in natural gas, that also might be Prime Motive Number 1 for 9-11.

They probably could have joint ventured that pipeline with Bridas, but then Argentina would have been raking in billions in hard cash and not hanging on for dear life as they are now. Zbigniew Brzezinski, former National Security advisor to Carter and Foreign Intelligence advisor to Reagan even wrote a book titled The Grand Chessboard , American Primacy and It's Geostrategic Imperatives about the grand adventure to take over the Caspian Basin and its mother lode of oil and natural gas. If you are like me, you see no "geostrategic imperative" about sending your sons or daughters, wife or husband, off to some far away place just so a few elite insiders can make billions in oil in a deal they have conspired to take over for at least the past three presidential administrations. That is exactly what they have done and exactly why they suppressed the investigations into 9-11 and the Cheney Energy Task Force.

Consider for a moment Condoleezza Rice, who used to sit on the Chevron Board of Directors at that exact time that Chevron made the decision to invest billions into oil and gas production in the Caspian Basin and without any way in sight to get that oil to ocean ports. You cannot convince me that Ms. Rice was unaware of Bridas Corporation and that they had beat US and UK oil companies to the punch way back in 1992 and 1993 when they starting signing oil and gas deals with the Turkmenistan government. You cannot convince me that Ms Rice was not completely aware of the geostrategic imperative of that oil pipeline across Afghanistan.

The Republic was led by a dishonest government that would tell any lie to carry out any objective where it involves money, greed and power. They cared not at all what they do in our name or what they did to undermine our freedoms and what this nation has always stood for. The Taliban would not okay the pipeline so 10 days later 9/11 happens and Afghanistan is attacked as was threatened! Another coincidence I know but from there the excuse was found to attack Iraq to get our military into the middle east to help Israel form their desired buffer and to establish a new middle east order that is guaranteed disorder for many generations to come if we are lucky!

Now! What is really going on in the middle east was planned before Bush. They only needed to wait for a brainless idiot to come along and prosecute the plan. As you know along came the life long failure liar and alcoholic! Remember "A Clean Break"? The Perle-Wurmser policy document demanded: 1) Destroy Yasser Arafat and the Palestinian Authority, blaming them for every act of Palestinian terrorism, including the attacks from Hamas, an organization which Sharon had helped launch during his early 1980s tenure as Minister of Defense. 2) Induce the United States to overthrow the Saddam Hussein regime in Iraq. 3) Launch war against Syria after Saddam's regime is disposed of, including striking Syrian military targets in Lebanon, and targets in Syria proper. 4) Parlay the overthrow of the Ba'athist regimes in Baghdad and Damascus into the "democratization" of the entire Arab world, including through further military actions against Iran, Saudi Arabia, and "the ultimate prize," Egypt (see Documentation following for the "Clean Break" report). last night I was thinking of posting Jerome's story on the Possible Republican answer to Obama and Hillary. After hearing a right on analysis of Romney who looked and sounded like an undertaker at a meeting of Angels Anonymous endores McCain who was even less comfortable and cordial I had to by pass my research for a moment and Post What the Relentless Liberal said about the Republican two-for This is a very real and likely scenario. As Secretary of State, the former national security adviser, professor and concert pianist has the experience and savoir faire to attract the celebrity conscious U.S. public. Her link with unpopular President Bush is a negative she already shares with John McCain. She would bring an unusual combination of youth and experience to the GOP ticket and could become a star if she told us what went wrong with U.S. foreign policy and how she would repair it. And from an insider’s perspective, it might be sensational and irresistible.

Jerome, Jerome, Jerome, you never cease to amaze me! I was just listening to the so called experts discussing who they thought the VP Nominee should be. I don't remember who their choice was for McCain's VP because I saw your thought at the same time and you took my attention. Race and Gender does matter but it is tolerated at that level in the Republican party only if it serves their interest. What you just suggested would serve their interest and is a very scary scenario. That would work for them and man is that a scary thought.

I never gave her any thought because she gained my ire and I see the Ire of all progressives I Blog with when she lied through her teeth during that facade they called the 9/11 commission hearings. She had me seething as did the whole charade because of the obvious lying and cover ups that laughingly found nobody did anything wrong. She is a gifted and proven loyal liar and as I think you know, that is a job requirement to be close to GW. I remember her saying she would never accept the Presidential nomination but I never heard the VP mentioned.

I can see her accepting that and a McCain Rice ticket would indeed be formidable but there are enough people that do not want to be in Iraq for 100 years or want anymore of the lying and war mongering that ticket would guarantee. I believe she would help with party loyalists but would sink McCain where it matters most and that is with independents. I don't know if McCain can win period as many see the modern Republican party for what it is and realize we can not survive another four years. I as you know am very concerned at what underhanded tactic they are going to pull in order to keep their corruptive power.

Canada reports Cheney Pushing Bush to attack Iran before his time is up!

This really bothers me. I had something important to discuss today but I just got in and this was waiting for me from World Can't Wait. It was reported in Canada that the real Decider Cheney is pushing Bush too attack Iran before his time is up because they do not want to leave the job undone. It blows me away that this was reported in Canada but not here under the Bush controlled Media.
Those that read my posts know I expected it this fall though there are some here that think it can be avoided. Bushco will not allow it to be left undone. He will find his excuse to attack Iran to further his middle east breakdown and he will do it before Congress can stop him. the fools will do this and the job will be more undone than before.
Bush attacking Iran before his time is up will leave us in turmoil not just in the middle east but around the world for a long, long time to come. Please read the article. We have got to get Congress to stop this fool immediately. This can not be allowed to happen!

I thought quite to the contrary! A lesson from Hannah here at kos showed me that What they are proposing to set up are boost phase interceptors--missiles that target a missile during it's relatively slow lift-off stage while it's still in the atmosphere.
 To accomplish a take down, the chase missile has to take off within 50 seconds--i.e. it has to be in relatively close proximity to the missile it wants to take down. That's why the argument that missiles in Poland are supposed to deal with missiles coming from Iran or North Korea is non-sensical. Condi using the word nonsense against Russia gives the game away. They always ascribe their own motivation to others.

Looking at today's statement that Russia cannot alter a U.S. plan to set up a missile defense system in nearby Poland, a senior U.S. official said in an interview published on Wednesday that is likely to stoke Russia's anger over the project. Russia is enraged! "We have listened to them but they have been so intransigent in their position that most NATO allies now support our proposal," he added.

U.S. Under secretary of State Nicholas Burns said Russian fears were unjustified as the project was purely defensive and could not be modified to launch attack missiles. These statements by Burns just told ignorant little me that while these systems could not be modified but they were solely to neutralize any interference by Russia in Bush's plans. The only result of these rising tensions and the purposeful politics of confrontation practiced by Bush is to bring us closer to WW3 and Bush's goal of what he thinks will be his version of new world order. These are my thoughts on the worsening situation, what are yours?

A while back as tensions between Bush and Russia were heating up over Bush's insistence on putting the Missile Defense Systems at Russia's door I thought it interesting that Russia countered saying it should be part of the proposed U.S. antimissile shield, put on the spot I thought what can Bush say now?
In light of all the past stories I have done in relation to this proposed missile shield and the fact that Britain wants it there and the U.S. is proposing to set it up all around the world I looked at it myself as a threat to Russia as they also did or do. That is why I find it quite intriguing that Russia also says it wants to be included. Russia then said it should be part of the proposed U.S. antimissile shield because it's close to rogue states that might fire rockets, said Konstantin Kosachev, chairman of the lower house of parliament's foreign affairs committee.

Makes you think that intimidating or targeting Russia's missiles is one of the intentions of these missile defense systems. The Bush misadministration's audacity is really troubling as it seems purposely designed to further tensions that justifiably have the rest of NATO very concerned.

NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer said Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov confirmed Putin's announcement suspending Russia's implementation of the Conventional Forces in Europe (CFE) pact to NATO ministers at a meeting in Oslo.
That message was met by concern, grave concern, disappointment and regret," de Hoop Scheffer told a news conference. "The allies are of the opinion that the CFE is one of the cornerstones of European security," he added.

I couldn't profess to know if the CFE was a cornerstone of European security or not but Russia is prepared to make it one to everyones demise. The only result of these rising tensions and the purposeful politics of confrontation practiced by Bush is to bring us closer to WW3 and Bush's goal of what he thinks will be his version of new world order.
