The political system was designed to take the election out of our hands
The political system was designed to take the election out of our hands because we were not trusted to pick our own leaders
First I must admit that because of Bush I have found myself forced to learn about the political process from the ground up under duress. Most of what I have found is very distasteful. The Political system does not favor us the voter but is designed to clandestinely take the voting process out of our hands. We have been determined not to be trusted with picking our own leaders!
** Here's their story, in short: A few decades ago, Democratic leaders felt that sometimes, Democratic voters were choosing poor presidential candidates: campaigners who couldn't win elections, or even if they could, they didn't please Democratic kingmakers.
Jimmy Carter, for example, was an obscure candidate who developed so much popular appeal that he essentially forced Democratic Party leaders to accept him as the nominee, even though not everyone was thrilled by it. See?
So the party changed the rules for picking its nominee. They made the super delegates: a super class of super Democrats, each of whom could vote at the convention for a candidate of choice -- in effect, giving each of these Democrats the power of tens of thousands of average citizens.
Who are they? Democratic members of Congress, governors, big-shot party members: Bill Clinton, for example. The theory was that the super delegates could help steer the party toward solid, competitive candidates, and away from Monday morning regrets.
There are about 800 of them, and that's a lot when you can win the nomination with only about 2,000 delegates. Hence the controversy. Even though one nominee is winning more delegates in actual primaries and caucuses, Another is substantially ahead of him in the overall delegate count because many more super delegates say they will vote for that individual. Maybe that shouldn't matter.
The Democratic nominee is not selected by a sea of Americans voters, but instead is anointed by party leaders. Super delegates can change their minds. What happened to we the people choosing, picking, and electing our leaders? Any way you look at it we aren't.
** We have got to get involved, change the system, take it Back the right to pick and elect our own leaders!

The United States of Disarray;
Forever Vigilant!
Looking at today's unwinding horrors we will be facing long into the future. We watch Iraq, Afghanistan, Yemen, Somalia, Pakistan, Iran, Israel, Syria, Lebanon, Gaza, Russia, China and Taiwan, North and South Korea, water pollution, air pollution, global warming, water wars, food wars, numerous future wars in the making, under Bush's war mongering I had been long convinced we had not had the defining moment of our time, our moment of extreme challenge.
9/11 was not the defining moment of our time as we are told, that event has not occurred yet but that moment is coming and soon and it could very well be upon us. A lot of people tell me to get over Bush but the US and the world will never be able to as he upset US and world balance that will forever affect us all.
We had the hope of Obama for 8 years but thanks to the Republican vow to make everything he tried to do to better the plight of the people fail our economy has improved and health care for all was implemented but Republicans because of their negative input constantly reminded us the the improvement was the slowest in history "their fault" and they plan on eliminating Health care for all.
In steps the nightmare Donald Trump. Many of us were very concerned about Trump as soon as we knew he was going to run for President because he has a penchant for being loud arrogant ignorant and a flagrant liar saying whatever he wants to get his way. Most of what he says is a flat out lie but he does not care doubling down and making the lie even deeper. His childish antics and ignorance is something new to me.
From what I can see the electoral college is only kept to steal an election for the Republican party. The people as a whole know the Democrats have faults but are there to make their lives better.
Back in 2000 I thought the Republicans were done as a Political Party when they picked the Alcoholic worthless liar George Bush to be their leader. I was greatly dismayed with that stupid hanging chad crap and the Supreme court ultimately picking him as the next President of the united States. He was re-elected by the outdated Electoral College over Al Gore who the people had selected. You witnessed as did I Bush's illegal war in Iraq and his destruction of the US.
Now the electoral College has interfered once more over-rode the will of the people and chose Trump to lead the nation to destruction and destroying Obama's legacy along with FDR's and every positive step ever taken ti further the American people.
Trump was not even sworn in yet and not only is Putin being credited with hacking the DNC flooding the air waves with lies about Hillary but he swears he likes the murderer Putin and he has already earned the Ire of China which is not hard to do but I am very concerned with this fool Trump's penchant to act without thinking and failing to engage brain before opening mouth.
Now we also hear his sons are sitting beside him when ever he meets with world leaders. I for on think they are so they can keep an eye on Trump. Plus his daughter Ivanka we hear is going to be the first Lady as Trump's wife does not want to be, and it costs a million dollars a day for their security but I bet it is more like 10 million and they aren't worth a dime.
We as a people, country, and world are in serious trouble as we proceed through the 21st century or so we hope.
* I am very concerned as to what the future has in store for us unless something Drastic happens to upset the cart our politicians have set for Republicans and their mis-leadership of us, the US, and the world.

Electoral College confusion;
Today the College votes for president. Knowing we already voted and Hillary won by almost 3 million votes but Trump was declared the winner by the electoral College I was again confused.
I thought they were representatives or the two political parties but they are not. I noticed Republicans have the edge in number and figured Trump was right the system is rigged.
It seems to be but it is not that simple.
Our forefathers seem to have gotten it right again though I disagreed the last 2 times they held sway. The whole system and why they did it was and still is very confusing so I was lucky enough after some pretty extensive digging to find the following link that I found very informative.
The
Electoral College is a group of people that elects the president and
the vice president of the United States. (The word “college” in this
case simply refers to an organized body of people engaged in a common
task.)
As
voters head to the polls on Tuesday, they will not vote for the
presidential candidates directly, in a popular vote. Instead, they will
vote to elect specific people, known as “electors” to the college. Each
state gets a certain number of electoral votes based on its population.
The
electors are appointed by the political parties in each state, so if
you vote for Donald J. Trump on Tuesday, and Mr. Trump ends up winning
the popular vote in your state, then electors that the Republican Party
has chosen will cast votes for him in their state capitals in December.
I for one am no longer calling for an end to the electoral college. Take a quick read and tell me what you think.
On Election Day, we’re electing the electors who elect the president. And it takes 270 of the 538 electors to win. Got it?

We must cancel the antiquated Electoral College
We must Cancel the antiquated Electoral College Then Politicians must take Blogging 101 to Prove they're doing the Peoples work to get elected!
We discuss the countries problems all day every day not only here but on many Liberal Blogs and on the other side Conservatives do it on their Blogs. However, we need to stop wasting our time and talking the issues amongst ourselves and implement a system in which we are heard. We can do this!
What "We the people" think should be heard and required to be acted on as a prerequisite to being elected or reelected. We have been burned not only by this Republican MIS Administration but by inadequate public representatives from both parties.
"It is time to implement a verifiable Voting System that Represents the people not the Politicians! James Joiner Daily kos 2007
However thinking about it more these solutions are even more basic and comprehensive and voting time is rapidly creeping upon us again as our attention is diverted to the many problems around the world.
The issue of solving our election problems so another election is not stolen and "'We the people" are heard and our thoughts acted on are more important than ever and I have a very viable way to accomplish this but we must get our solutions heard where it matters and have them acted on. Tell me what you think!
First, we must Abolish the antiquated Electoral College. that served the peoples purpose when we could not get ourselves heard in rural America. As we learned with Bush it now represents the interests of the Politicians. We are capable of going to the polls today and speaking for ourselves.
While on the subject of a system working for the Politicians we must also throw out these new electronic voting systems because they can be tampered with casting any vote the tamperer wants and you ca not detect it. Paper trail or not it is worthless because you cannot prove the vote was real.
Technology is not the voters friend! Technology is the Politicians friend! Anyway 2ndly we must as a prerequisite to running pass a requirement that every single politician or perspective Politician must make an enforceable promise to do the work of their constituents and America not their special Interest handlers. While having to take a course about the top Blogs from their party to know what their constituents want and make them responsible for speaking for the people and not them and special interests.
Politicians must prove performance. We have got to hold them accountable. We do not care what Politicians think. They are supposed to care about what we think. They are supposed to represent "we the people" not we the Politicians.
Our Government of the people, for the people, by the people, facilitated by society, has become a Government of the Politician, for the affluent, by the media, facilitated by the so called legal system. This has got to change. We have got to take "our America" back. It is imperative to the countries future and we owe it to our kids.
Just this second I got off the phone with one of my sons that just got back from Afghanistan. Of course the conversation turned to Politics. I explained what I am saying right now and laid the future of his kids and country on his shoulders. He must for his children take an active role in cleaning up this mess. He is still determined to go back to Afghanistan this winter. He is EOD and I don't like it but some of these idiots my son included find some perverse pleasure in this.
I am afraid our misleaders will keep him busier than he wants regardless of who gets elected next. He wants to retire after 20 years and that is 7 years away. I can only pray that he makes it and survives paying off Republican and Democrat trillions in debt put on their shoulders to be paid when he is gone. Boy are our kids getting a screwing!

We do need a grassroots movement in order to get rid of the electoral College, take the courts out of our Election process, give the process too the people who it is supposed to represent, and return to a verifiable paper process, so the entire process can be monitored and truly representative of the people and their desires.
This will not happen as long as we leave it up to the Politicians. They will try to manipulate the process in their Political favor as seems to be the prevailing thought process today. That is the case in every instance in today's Political environment and is the primary reason for the majority of the countries problems today. How can "We the People" get involved and ensure that a voting system representative of the people not special interests is in place in the entire country.

The popular vote is in serious Jeopardy again, The Dream match up McCain Obama is in danger, because of Bill Clinton, and President Carter!

I don't know why but I heard today that Obama McCain would be the dream match up this fall but something else I learned today really scares me and stinks to high heaven of a set up! I don't like the implications at all. First John McCain is a solid favorite to win the Republican presidential nomination. Barack Obama is an ever-so-slight underdog on the Democratic side. Obama-McCain, however, would be a dream general-election matchup, the most defining American presidential race since at least 1980. Just think of the contrasts.

Obama-McCain, however, would be a dream general-election matchup, the most defining American presidential race since at least 1980. Just think of the contrasts.
The age gap between the 46-year-old Obama and the 71-year-old McCain would be the widest in the history of presidential elections. (The current record: 1996, with Bob Dole 23 years older than Bill Clinton.) Before Obama was even born, McCain was shocking his uptight naval colleagues by bringing a stripper dubbed the "Flame of Florida" to the Officers' Club. More than any other Republican or Democrat, they appeal to independent-minded voters while still parting ways on crucial issues. On Iraq, taxes, health care and the Supreme Court, the differences between these two men are profound. McCain would want to focus a race on national security and terrorism, Obama on domestic concerns and economic insecurity. "This would be an extraordinary contest, an opportunity to see striking contrasts, from age to public philosophy," says Tom Mann, a political scientist at the Brookings Institution, based in Washington.
It would be change versus experience, the audacity of hope versus the faith of our fathers. A small though instructive moment of discord marked their first real engagement. It was in early 2006, and they were the leading point men for their parties in trying to fashion an ethics bill for the Senate. The Senate Democratic leadership, which had put the freshman Illinoisan in a visible role for public relations reasons, pressured him to back off on dealing with McCain. Obama acquiesced, sending a letter to McCain, yet releasing it to the please read on about the Obama McCain relationship
This so called ideal matchup I fear will never be! It's a setup and I was stunned to hear this and that it is acceptable! Americans like a level playing field and we are not going to get it this fall again!
* We wouldn't watch the Super Bowl if one team was given a free touchdown to start. We're apoplectic over the idea of baseball players loading up on steroids. No wonder the Democratic Party is facing serious scrutiny over the idea that super delegates are tilting its presidential playing field in favor of Hillary Clinton. If you haven't heard of these folks in past elections, don't feel bad. They have been, at times, a rather obscure bunch.
Even though Barack Obama is winning more delegates in actual primaries and caucuses, Hillary Clinton is substantially ahead of him in the overall delegate count because many more super delegates say they will vote for her. Maybe that shouldn't matter. Both candidates knew the rules when they started. If she's better at securing these delegates, good for her, too bad for him. But that argument may clatter like a counterfeit quarter with the general public if this race continues neck-and-neck down to the convention, if the Democratic nominee is not selected by a sea of Americans voters, but instead is anointed by party leaders.
Super delegates can change their minds, and if Obama starts running away with the popular vote, you can bet your house some of them will stampede from Camp Clinton. But if the race remains very tight, and the super delegates are the deciding factor, the Democratic Party can expect some tough questions. Remember, many staunch Democrats have always felt Al Gore had his presidency stolen by the courts and the Electoral College. If the super delegates decide this race, there will certainly be a lot of heated debates within the party, and perhaps a very cold November awaiting the nominee. Bill Clinton can determine our nominee
** We have got to get involved, change the system, take it Back!

California proves It is time to implement a Verifiable Voting System, electronic voting machines manipulated, unverifiable!
California proves It is time to implement a Verifiable Voting System, electronic voting machines manipulated and unverifiable!
I understand getting caught up in the all day long underhanded corruption By Bush and his MIS Administration. I kept looking at the unbelievable dose of today's stories and realized I better talk about California's findings because I don't see it getting much coverage and we cannot allow this to happen again.
As we are heading towards the 2008 elections I am reminded that the problems we experienced the last two times still persist. until California I have not heard anything done to resolve them. We cannot wait until we are in the middle of an election once again before this becomes an issue again. It seems as the usual out of sight out of sound is applying once again. As I watch and listen to the nightmare Bush I am increasingly concerned that a nightmare like him could happen again. I keep hearing that the powers behind who really gets elected and the agenda that is actually followed will ensure that a President is elected that will continue Bush's stridence towards so called new world order.
There are those in both party's that allow abuse of our election process for many reasons. First, many people are still lazy and think in the end their elected officials will do the right thing for them. That will never happen and they will continue to do the right thing for themselves. People fall for the line that we must move our election system into the 21st century and that is why we must go electronic. California proved what we know and that is that those machines guarantee a given election outcome and we must get them outlawed and quickly. Again we are running out of time.
Our voting system should be updated but not influenced by the 21st century of political lies we are surrounded by! It should start with an Abolishing of the outdated electoral system that wrongly let Bush in as President in the first place. The Electoral College no longer serves the "peoples" purpose. It was needed when America was so Rural people could not be made aware or get their opinions to the polls so we needed someone to represent us.
That is no longer necessary! We are capable of getting to the polls and representing ourselves. Doing away with the Electoral College would eliminate what got the slime Bush into office in the first place. That is only one problem! Also, we know these electronic voting machines can be manipulated. Sadly, you know they will be in order to benefit one special interest or the other.
It is a sad situation as we are constantly lied to and manipulated for political gain. In order to have a paper trail and verification to move forward sometimes you have to move back to what worked in the past. We must go back to the paper and pencil system that can be verified individually. Until we do that and do it universally there is too much room for selfish exploitation.
We do have a grassroots movement in order to get rid of the electoral College. We must also take the courts out of our Election process, give the process too the people who it is supposed to represent, and return to a verifiable paper process, so the entire process can be monitored and truly representative of the people and their desires.

That is the case in every instance in today's Political environment and is the primary reason for the majority of the countries problems today. How can "We the People" get involved and ensure that a voting system representative of the people not special interests is in place for 2008. We cannot wait until the last minute when we have another crisis and I am afraid we are.
First I am reminded of an old saying that "As California goes so goes the Nation" That should certainly apply in this case. In California Three of California's electronic voting systems can be easily hacked into, potentially compromising millions of votes, according to a detailed review announced Friday.
I have to be suspicious as to why but Makers of Los Angeles County's InkaVote system did not submit its equipment in time, so it wasn't included. The three systems evaluated, used by more than two-thirds of California's counties, also had problems with accessibility requirements for disabled and non-English-speaking voters. The findings of what some believe to be one of the most comprehensive electronic voting studies to date come as California registrars rush to prepare for the state's presidential primary election Feb. 5.
Over two months, dozens of experts in information technology organized by the University of California tested machines made by Diebold Election Systems, Hart InterCivic and Sequoia Voting Systems. The analysts tried to infiltrate the three systems physically and electronically, without the safeguards that voting machine vendors or counties might use. "Under these conditions, the technology and security of all three systems could be compromised," the review said.
For example: Testers accessed the insides of Sequoia machines by prying open seals or unscrewing external screws to bypass locks. The experts connected to secure data in a Diebold machine by hacking into its Windows operating system. Testers "were able to bypass both physical and software security in every system they tested." "The severity of what it means, whether counties have adapted [security] procedures already ... is something we have to analyze," she said.
http://www.latimes.com/technology/la-me-vote28jul28,1,6799644.story?coll=la-headlines-technology&ctrack=2&cset=true
Our very existence as a democracy is dependent on our having voting systems that are secure, reliable and accurate, and we have found that out the hard way. This is one State people! I am sure this is repeated around the country. Officials who did this study of course disagree as to the findings and are not sure their is a smoking gun.
I do not have any doubts. There is a smoking gun and it is in the form of an electronic voting machines. We must outlaw them. We must get rid of them before the next election or we will have serious trouble. We cannot afford another Bush or false elections.

This will not happen as long as we leave it up to the Politicians. They will try to manipulate the process in their Political favor as seems to be the prevailing thought process today. That is the case in every instance in today's Political environment and is the primary reason for the majority of the countries problems today.

We must cancel the antiquated Electoral College and Politicians must take Blogging 101 to....
Last week Clammyc brought the election problems to light once again and I last did it on May 2nd myself with a diary titled "It is time to implement a verifiable Voting System that Represents the people not the Politicians! http://www.dailykos.com/story/2007/5/2/152545/6437
It covers many important issues as does Clammy's but we must get them addressed before this bites us again and another election is stolen by Republicans.
We have got to hod them accountable.
He is still determined to go to Iraq next year. He is EOD and I don't like it but some of these idiots my 3 son's included find some perverse pleasure in this.
I am afraid Bush will keep him busier than he wants regardless of who gets elected next. He wants to retire after 20 years and that is 10 years away. I can only pray that he makes it and survives paying off Bush's trillions in debt he put on their shoulders to be paid when he is gone. Boy are our kids getting a screwing!

It is time to implement a Verifiable Voting System that Represents the people not the Politicians!
As we are heading towards the 2008 elections I am reminded that the problems we experienced the last two times still persist. I have not heard anything done to resolve them. We cannot wait until we are in the middle of an election once again before this becomes an issue again. It seems as the usual out of sight out of sound is applying once again.
As I watched and listened to the nightmare Bush I am increasingly concerned that a nightmare like him could happen again.
It should be updated but not influenced by the 21st century of political lies we are surrounded by!
We do need a grassroots movement in order to get rid of the electoral College, take the courts out of our Election process, give the process too the people who it is supposed to represent, and return to a verifiable paper process, so the entire process can be monitored and truly representative of the people and their desires.
