Ahmadinejad: Egyptian protests herald new Mideast, yes but whose version?

Live feed as Egypt cleans up and gets on with the business of building their Democracy

FIRST there was shock that Israel's most important ally in the region was facing an uprising that threatened to sweep away 30 years of stability. Iran's president said Friday that Egypt's popular uprising shows a new Islamic Middle East is emerging, one that Mahmoud Ahmadinejad claims will have no signs of Israel and US"interference. Ahmadinejad: Egyptian protests herald new Mideast It is a sign of a new Middle East but it started a long time ago and in what form it manifests itself will take years and years to shape.

US, Israel will soon exit Middle East: Ahmadinejad

Boy is he wrong!

We have been shoring up the Dictator's in the Middle East for years. We turned our heads as to their abuse of their people as long as they supported us and did our bidding. For now the Egyptian people seem to have won and are very happy. All they want now is Democratic elections to elect the leader they want in their new Democracy. I hope it works out that way.

Egypt's Defense Minister Muhammad sayyid tantawi is head of the Higher Military Council that now has control of Egypt. We have strong ties with Egypt's military regime so this sounds pretty good for us. Switzerland announced immediately that they were freezing all Mubarak's and his families assets. Makes me wonder if securing them is one of the reasons Mubarak was holding on.

The rest of the Dictators in the Middle East have to be very worried about these developments. They just begin with Jordan and Saudi Arabia, Iran is on the list too but those poor people found out the hard way that their Dictators are willing to imprisoned and kill them all in order to keep their fascist agenda on line.

In closing: Bush's intention in attacking Iraq was to get our military back in the Middle East to help Israel establish a safety zone, create a new middle east (dis)order as God told him to, and to establish a permanent middle east presence. I was very concerned that this entire mess in the middle east would take on a life of its own We freed Iran up to instigate for their new order by eliminating Saddam who kept them contained.

The middle east is exploding as we long said it would and anti Israeli anti US forces are trying to use it to their advantage. Israel is nervous as they should be with all their hedging at a real 2 state solution. Across the Arab world, people living under the thumb of repressive leaders are rising up against the rulers who once seemed omnipotent. It is no coincidence these were all American allies! They are not quite sure what they want. But from North Africa to the Arabian Peninsula, they know they want change. And their wrath and their courage are creating a new form of Arab unity.

The goal since we went back into the Middle East has been to see whose version of a new middle east order will prevail. I have faith it will not be Persian Iran's version and not ours but rather a free and Democratic Arabian version whatever shape that may take.

I'm going to go out on a limb and make a wild guess here. The Tunisian dictator was going to break away from U.S. support as was Mubarak. Our CIA steps in and riles the people to get them to over throw the government thereby doing the job they wanted to do in Iraq and Iran for the last 20 years. Or should I just take off the tinfoil hat and assume this was a natural uprising, the result of a last straw?
I was right about Mubarak getting his assets frozen. It was the only way to get him out.

You know Demeur the thing that gets me is we both know every frigging time we interfere in another country it bites us in the ass.

I just finished a story on what the military has done so far and I have hopes they really do want a Democracy.

A factor we're not seeing get much play in the media is that Egypt's hunger for petroleum is growing, while their oil production is in decline.

Their natural gas consumption has used up their spare capacity and any further increases will cut into their exports.

The normal IMF style cure for this problem is to destroy the nation's economy so that consumption drops, freeing up more resources for exports.

It's working in the USA where the loss of over 40,000 manufacturing plants since 2000, have provided the illusion that we're in a natural gas glut, when in fact we're still at 1970 levels in production. Fracking is driving up costs, but not meaningfully increasing production rates.

If our economy declines further, it will free up coal for export to China.

Hey wease! You know when you say that it just makes you think about the fact not only are we as a world ruining all the resources we need for survival but we are running out of them. What a frigging future.

On a side note I just had friends shovel 4 feet of snow off my roof to prevent a collapse and I just realized I need oil so I have to shovel through a 6 foot high 50 foot long bank of snow. Damn!

We can all agree that Mubarak was a tyrant in the eyes of his people and deservedly so. And people here in the West cannot begin to imagine the hardships and travails of life in a country like Egypt or for that matter any Third World country, be it Egypt, Sudan or whatever. Too many of the citizens of the U.S., even if they were to look at it, are too busy whining about their own supposed problems to even consider what’s going on around the world. So be it. That’s what class warfare and the entitlement society have done to us.

However, as we look deeper into the Egyptian situation, we can see a rather disturbing pattern emerging. Listen to the talking heads of the MSM. Listen to the President and his out of touch administration, Hell, they can’t even get their stories straight. Hillary says one thing. Clapper says another. And the President openly welcomes the very element that can and will destroy Egypt and in turn put Israel and the West in dire straits. Of course I and many others will be called alarmists, racists or Anti-Muslim bigots for pointing this out, but it has to be said.

One only has to remember the Iran situation. Yes, the Shah as far as the people of Iran were concerned was a despot. As the people rallied there, the talking heads including our good buddy “lost in space Carter” went on and on about how the Ayatollah was in fact a moderate Muslim who would bring peace and open Democracy to the country. I distinctly remember the few brave souls who had done their homework and warned of the impending disaster that was coming. As it is now, they were branded as subversive or worse. The world sat back and we all know what has transpired since then.

As the Iran situation came to a head, the morons in the press and government here in the States put out the fallacy that the people of Iran, having grown use to the Freedoms they did have and their supposed love for all thing U.S. would in fact turn their back on radical Islamic fundamentalism and continue to embrace and expand the Western ideals to which they had grown accustomed to. Well, we all know how that worked out! Typical head in the sand gobbley goop from the West and presto!, an Islamic hell was born.

While one can hope the army there can keep the order and help transition to a free government, the chances of that happening in my view are slim at best. First, let’s take a look at the army. They have always been the power in Egypt since the overthrow of King Furuk. No secret there. Will they give up power?

As there is a vacuum in leadership right now can we assume the radical movements, those that any idiot can see are the best organized will in fact take their shots at power? You can bet your ass they will. The head of the Muslim Brotherhood is a known terrorist with a deep seated hatred for Israel. As we move forward, one has to assume they along with infiltrators from other radical Muslim states will do their best to install a Radical regime in Egypt.

It took about 30 days from the overthrow of the Shah, to the Ayatollah’s homecoming and then an almost instant plunge in radical Muslim horror that is now Iran. Is this what one wants for Egypt? And what about Israel? As we have a President who seems hell bent on hastening her destruction, will we come to the aid of Israel when the crap really hits the fan? If Egypt is taken over in the end by the radicals, will Israel survive? Hell, let’s not even go into the oil situation right now or the fact the Egypt controls the Suez Canal. At least Mubarak was honor bound to a treaty and kept too it. Can one even think for one moment that any radical faction will not immediately turn on Israel?

Hi Joe welcome!
Yes we created the situation in Iran as we do everywhere around the world we interfere. We are our own worst enemy!

We have supported all the middle east dictators and turned our head to their abuse as long as they did our bidding.

That house of cards is crumbling but in place4s like Iran it will not. Those people can rest assured that they will be killed by the Islamist regime that came to power because of out interference.

I do not think this will happen in Egypt be cause of our ties with the military elite, the connection with their people, and their true desire for a Democratic Egypt.
