Ground Zero Mosque Plans Move Forward After New York Landmarks Panel Vote: That mosque will be a Holy pilgrimage site for closet extremists!
Think about the nature of the beast we are up against. Regardless of your position this is not a good idea. No matter the issue or what I discuss I always take an unbiased view. Your own feelings and thoughts should have no bearing. The goal is to do the right thing. The right thing for the whole not the right thing for you. I taught all my sons that and they are all quite the workers and leaders though like me they always feel alone and you are!
That said doing the right thing almost never works in your favor but you can not change your principles. Having said that, Mayor Michael Bloomberg and City Council Speaker Christine Quinn have supported the project. The proposed mosque has drawn opposition from half Governor Sarah Palin who should not even be a thought and former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich who have called its proposed presence near the site of the deadliest terrorist attack in U.S. history inappropriate.
The project's sponsor, the Cordoba Initiative, describes itself as a pluralistic organization seeking better relations between the Islamic community and other faiths so they say. Last week, Abraham Foxman, director of the Anti-Defamation League, an organization created to fight religious intolerance, said the city "would be better served if an alternative location could be found. Once again I have an unpopular opinion and also one not heard once yet. What's new as it is the truth and the right thing to do. Those parties who lost loved ones and friends should have their opinions considered but like those who under the auspices of equality say it should be allowed should also be considered. However I hate to say it but what they think does not matter here.
Consider the nature of the beast we are against. We hear the thought that this is not a war against Islam but whether we want it or not it is. We are not against all Islam as we are a melting pot of all religions and lack there of as we are a melting pot of all races and creeds. Again with all that said the only consideration here should be the so called terrorists who are waging unholy war with us forcing us to fight them and we will.
* With all said and done that Mosque should not be allowed to be built 2 blocks from ground zero not because it insults the aggrieved or that it is too close but it would be another big laugh by Islamists at us and an in your face "see we won" a laugh and rallying call to further sacrifice their lives to kill the infidels.I can see that mosque as a pilgrimage site for all those who want to go there to pray just so they can say they did it at ground zero. Ground Zero is as important to extremists as it is to us only for the opposite reason. I don't like it what do you think?

Good post...allow me to answer by way of what I wrote the other day at my blog.
Why no outrage over the Mosque in the Pentagon? Are the 9/11 victims of that location any less sympathized than NYC? Or does that not fit the script, as it would come perilously close to sounding like not 'supporting the troops'? And the question that nobody appears capable of answering - how far away from ground zero is 'near'?
When no discernible threat is present, as is categorically the case here......we have a choice to act in accordance with our principles, or to surrender them and act in accordance with the principles of our enemy. This is but one more instance where the alleged Constitutionalists allow emotion to override the very tenets they claim to support.
Hi CI welcome! I had no idea there was a mosque in the pentagon. I'm going to have to check into that. To me everyone involved should set aside their feelings and put themselves in the so called extremists shoes. What it would mean to them and do to their cause should be the only thought not that the mosque means well or anything else. Thank you by the way!
Excellent point CI. I was going to add that there are aholes of every walk of life. Do we condem an entire race or religion because of the actions of a few? And remember many Muslims died in the twin towers as well so to them you would say good riddence? Should we condem the entire Catholic church for the inquisition? They not only killed people but tortured them before hand. Nope I think you're throwing the baby out with the bath water here Jim.
This shows that we stand by our principles of freedom and justice for all.
Demeur of course you're right but my inclination is to deal with those I am in contention with and disregard everything else. I was not a good enemy when I was a kid and those principles still rule me. I think the thought behind the mosque is good and they should let them build another in New York but not where it serves the interests of the extremist because in my mind it will only embolden their cause.
Jim
Consider this, the land like you said is not exactly on the site. It's privately owned. It's to be a type of Community center. It is unlawful to ban them from building it. It shows we are the bigger people. In fact it makes us stronger as a nation. Crazy Muslims will hate us no matter what we do. And Demeur made all my other points.
Tim I don't care if they hate us or not. To the extremists that are fighting us it wil be a recruiting tool and a drawing care for wanabe extremists. We can be the bigger by posing a viable alternative because I think the motives are honorable.
Don't you think that our presence on Muslim land constitutes more than enough recruitment incentive?
The core of Al Qaeda remains rather small. We spend far more energy and effort fighting groups that are not aligned with Al Qaeda.
Oh yeah! At this point leave their lands or not which is all they originally wanted and they will get us here and around the world anyway.
I really do not understand why they make such a big deal about the Taliban and I long ago got upset with hearing we did nothing to deserve this and 9/11 while we did everything to deserve it. You know what they say about payback!
