* Palestinians meet in Gaza for reconciliation talks:  A senior Hamas leader based in Egypt is in Gaza for talks aimed at reaching a reconciliation agreement between the two rival Palestinian groups, Hamas and Fatah.:  Moussa Abu Marzouk is meeting Hamas leaders in Gaza on Monday ahead of a visit by Fatah officials on Tuesday. Hamas freed 10 Fatah prisoners before the meetings as a good-will gesture.

Palestinians have been divided since 2007 when Hamas took control of the Gaza Strip from forces loyal to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas of Fatah. Since then, Hamas has ruled Gaza while Abbas governs some areas in the West Bank. Past attempts have failed.

* Gaza rockets hit south Israel, army strikes back: : Six rockets fired from the Gaza Strip exploded in southern Israel on Monday morning. One of the missiles hit a street in the city of Sderot, causing damage but no injuries.

The Israel Air Force  responded by attacking two targets in the southern Gaza Strip and other targets in the center. Direct strikes on the targets were reported and all aircraft returned safely to base, according to the Israel Defense Forces spokesman. 

Whether or not Palestinian factions unite will not matter. Israel does not want an equal p(ea)iece they want to be the lords period. Palestine needs help but that will only make things worse. There will never be peace because all Religions want things their way and want all other Religions dead.

 UN investigator accuses Israel of ‘ethnic cleansing’:  A UN human rights investigator today accused Israel of “ethnic cleansing” in pushing Palestinians out of East Jerusalem and cast doubt that the Israeli government could accept a Palestinian state in the current climate.

Asked about his accusation of ethnic cleansing, Mr Falk said that more than 11,000 Palestinians had lost their right to live in Jerusalem since 1996 due to Israel imposing residency laws favouring Jews and revoking Palestinian residence permits. “The 11,000 is just the tip of the iceberg because many more are faced with possible challenges to their residency rights.”

 An American General warns the Israeli Right:   “We have got to find a way to make the two-state solution that Democrat and Republican administrations have supported, we’ve got to get there,” he said. “And the chances for it, as the king of Jordan has pointed out, are starting to ebb because of the settlements and where they’re at, are going to make it impossible to maintain the two-state option.”

After blaming the lack of peace squarely on the settlements, he went a step further, and raised the incendiary question of apartheid: “If I’m Jerusalem and I put 500 Jewish settlers out here to the east and there’s 10,000 Arab settlers in here, if we draw the border to include them, either it ceases to be a Jewish state or you say the Arabs don’t get to vote -- apartheid. That didn’t work too well the last time I saw that practiced in a country.”

I reiterate: Palestinians for their part are doing their share for peace but it is futile: They are willing to let Israel control the wailing wall and just want East Jerusalem as their capital but there is no way in hell Israel is going to give that up as they swear it belongs to them. It does not belong to them. They do not want peace unless they get everything they want and they will not. This will only end in war and we will be dragged in. That is why Bush ignored Afghanistan to get into the Middle East. Right from the get go helping Israel against Iran was the goal.

Israel and Iran have long been in preparation for this confrontation. As you know, when asked by a journalist how he felt upon returning to Iran in 1979 after 15 years in exile. Khomeini’s curt, one-word reply was “nothing” Whoa! From day one of his return to Iran Khomeini expressed no love for Iran only a love of the atom bomb. The drive even then was to possess a nuclear weapon though that desire is still denied until Iran can get their hands on one.

On the other side there is Israel who will give nothing and expects Palestinians to give up everything! I realized a long time ago that Israel is the world's chief war monger and we seem to do their bidding and fighting. If they get into a war with Iran we will end up coming to their rescue regardless of what they do or what is said or done and that is sad! We should in fact take care of Jewish American's and American's and our interests in Israel and otherwise tell them in no uncertain terms they are on their own if they continue to instigate war not peace and expecting us to come to their rescue. Well the heck with them we have given enough!

* Fatah accepts Arab League land swap proposal: Opponents of the land swap idea said they were against it because it would “legitimize” settlements in the West Bank by allowing them to remain under Israeli sovereignty in a final deal between Israel and the Palestinians. 

Unlike most Palestinian factions, Fatah said that today, it was not opposed to the land swap idea. Fatah’s leaders stressed after their meeting, however, that they perceive the idea as meaning that there would be “minor and mutual adjustments” to the future border between Israel and a Palestinian state.

* Peace-talk resumption requires Israeli recognition of two-state solution: Abbas: "A clear Israeli declaration that Israel recognizes the principle of the two-state solution, halting settlement building and releasing the (Palestinian) prisoners is sign of the success of the U.S. efforts to resume the talks," said Abbas.

"The upgrade of Palestine to a non-member observer state by the United Nations means that the occupied Palestinian territories are the territories of the Palestinian state," he said, adding "these territories are not disputed lands." As for land-swap with Israel, for us, it means slight mutual exchanges of lands.

Analysis: Sudan strikes by Israel a blow to Iran and Hamas.

 

 

 

Analysis: Sudan strike - A blow to Iran. Amid the latest escalation between Hamas and Israel this week, a covert strike that is far more strategically significant may have occurred. Israel has remained officially silent over Sudanese accusations that Jerusalem carried out an air strike on a weapons factory near Khartoum, but tellingly, Jerusalem has not taken the trouble to deny the allegations either.

 

Sudan has been a central transit point for Iranian arms headed to the Gaza Strip for several years. With Iran’s nuclear sites roughly the same distance from Israel, an air strike in Khartoum would demonstrate Israel’s long-range capabilities, and make the military threat on the table that much more tangible. At the same time, striking a single target in a country with minimal air defenses cannot be compared to the operational challenges inherent in striking multiple targets fortified by vigorous air defenses.

 

 Report: Israel hit Sudan twice in two months Israel Radio reported that the IDF spokesperson would not respond to its query regarding a Reuters asserting that Israeli aircraft struck targets in Sudan in September and then again Oct. 23. The September strike, according to unspecified “foreign intelligence sources” quoted Thursday by Reuters, was conducted by a drone and targeted a weapons convoy south of Khartoum. The strike destroyed 200 tons of munitions, including Gaza-bound rockets, the report said. 

 

 On Tuesday, a “huge explosion" ripped through a weapons factory near the Sudanese capital Khartoum, killing two people, Reuters reported. Sudan, the report added, swiftly accused Israel of sending four military planes to take out the complex. The speaker of the Sudanese parliament, Ahmad Ibrahim Al-Tahir, declared that the “Israeli attack on the Al-Yarmook arms factory will not deter Sudan from continuing its support to the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas,” according to the Sudan Tribune, an online news site.  

 Sudan: a front for Israel's proxy war on Sinai jihadis? If Israel bombed a Sudanese munitions factory, as Khartoum alleges, the raid was part of its widening proxy war against Islamist militants in neighbouring Egypt which the Jewish state is reluctant to confront directly.

 

A huge explosion ripped through the factory near the Sudanese capital Khartoum on Tuesday, killing two people, with Sudan swiftly accusing Israel of sending four military planes to take out the complex. The poor Muslim east African state, with its ties to Iran and Sunni jihadis, has long been seen by Israel as a conduit for weapons smuggled onward to the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip, via the Egyptian Sinai desert.

Put an end to the whole business of tunnels in Gaza, put an end to the illicet business of rockets and weapons being produced in Sudan and supported and purchased by Iran to be smuggled to Hamas to support their fight with Israel. It is painfully obvious Israel is going to fight in order to survive as she is. It is obvious Palestine will have a country beside Israel whatever shaape it takes.

 

It is Time for Iran and Hamas to accept those facts and stop the fight. It is time for Hamas and Fatah to reunite and have serious discussions with Israel. It would put an end to the need of Sudan to manufacture illicit arms along with the interference of Iran. It is time to end this!

There are several domestic and international actors involved in the conflict. The direct negotiating parties are the Israeli government led by  Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), headed by Mahmoud Abbas. The official negotiations are mediated by an international contingent known as the Quartet on the Middle East (the Quartet), consisting of the United States, Russia, the European Union, the United Nations, and represented by a special envoy, currently Tony Blair. The Arab League is another important actor, which has proposed an alternative peace plan. Egypt, a founding member of the Arab League, has historically been a key participant.

Since 2006, the Palestinian side has been fractured by conflict between the two major factions: Fatah, the largest party, and Hamas, an Islamist militant group. As a result, the territory controlled by the Palestinian National Authority (the Palestinian interim government) is split between Fatah in the West Bank, and Hamas in the Gaza strip. This has proved problematic as Hamas is considered a terrorist organization by Israel and many other countries[6 which means that despite the fact it won the Palestinian elections of 2006, it has not been allowed to participate in official negotiations. The most recent round of peace negotiations began at Annapolis, USA in November, 2007. These talks aim to have a final resolution by the end of 2008.[7] The parties agree there are six core, or 'final status,' issues which need to be resolved[8]: Jerusalem, refugees, settlements, security, borders and water. These issues are discussed at length below.

Within Israeli and Palestinian society, the conflict generates a wide variety of views and opinions (see also Israeli and Palestinian views of the peace process). This serves to highlight the deep divisions which exist not only between Israelis and Palestinians, but also amongst themselves. A hallmark of the conflict has been the level of violence witnessed for virtually its entire duration. Fighting has been conducted by regular armies, paramilitary groups, and terror cells. Casualties have not been restricted to the military, with a large loss of civilian life on both sides.

Hamas must re-unite with Fatah: The Hamas government in Gaza has been isolated from mainstream Arab politics since it seized power in Gaza in 2007 and split from Fatah which was left running the West Bank. The expected visit to Gaza by the Emir of Qatar, Shaikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani, is an opportunity to restart the process of reconciliation with Fatah, and should not be treated by Hamas as an endorsement of its isolation.

  Emir of Qatar becomes first Arab leader to visit Gaza since Hamas takeover: The Emir's visit raised hackles in both the West Bank, where the Palestinian Authority operates cut off from Hamas-run Gaza, and in Israel. But the Emir, a key western ally, greeted the Hamas prime minister Ismail Haniyah warmly and promised hundreds of millions of dollars in new aid. "This visit sends a direct message to anyone who wants to listen: Gaza is not alone in the field and Palestine occupies the hearts of Arabs," Mr Haniyeh said.

   Momentum builds for Gaza to secede, Israel and West Bank to become one:  Mr. Palmor of Israel’s Foreign Ministry says the problem of negotiating with the Palestinians before a Hamas-Fatah reconciliation was addressed at the 2007 Annapolis peace talks, with the Israelis accepting that implementation on the ground would happen gradually. While the outlook for the two-state solution envisioned at Annapolis appears bleak,  

Liel holds out hope that the Palestinian bid to upgrade its status to a “nonmember state” at the United Nations next month could create new momentum in that direction if a majority of European nations backed the motion, indicating substantial international support for the Palestinians' right to a state of their own. “I think it can change the atmosphere among Palestinians, maybe even in Fatah-Hamas relations. It can definitely change the mood inside Israel.”

Korea style force in Iraq in the middle of exploding middle east will be 9/11 and Custer's last stand with the same results!

As we are watching the rapid deterioration of the middle east I got to thinking about Bush's desire for a Korea style force in Iraq. knowing what is happening in the middle east and not just Iraq I couldn't figure out how the hell Bush could possibly think a Korea style force in Iraq could work and it dawned on me this morning.

This morning we learned that Bush's fist successful Democracy Palestine had fallen to Hamas. Palestinian security sources said. Fatah's Preventive Security headquarters in Khan Yunis is now under Hamas control. Hamas overpowered Fatah forces, taking several of the rival group's strongholds in northern Gaza, security sources said. Hamas gunmen could be seen perched atop buildings as residents sought shelter in their homes, the sources said.

Fighting over the past three days has killed at least 70 Palestinians and injured 180 more, 20 of them critically, medical sources said. Overnight gun battles killed six Fatah loyalists and militia members as Hamas moved to expand its grip on Gaza, Palestinian security sources said Wednesday. Israel has been drawn in of course as rockets were fired by Palestinian militants into Israel hitting a primary school with no casualties yet reported.

On Wednesday, Palestinian gunmen opened fire on protesters calling for a cease-fire in Gaza, killing one person as dozens ran for cover, hospital officials said. Video from the scene showed unarmed men, women and children waving flags and chanting when heavy gunfire erupted in the streets.

So much for U.S. requests for Israel to open the frontier and send emergency shipments of arms so Fatah could fend off Hamas. this issue I am afraid is not closed.

Heavy fighting continues between the Lebanese army and Islamist militants at a Palestinian camp which has been the battleground for Lebanon's bloodiest internal violence since the civil war. This also shows signs of spreading.

A war with Iran is getting closer as we now have warmongers openly calling for an attack on Iran. You have to think since Lieberman is leading the charge that he wants to do it to hopefully help Israel.
Amid heated debate over the issue of a cross-border offensive targeting Kurdish rebels, Turkey sent large contingents of reinforcement soldiers, tanks and armored personnel carriers to its border with Iraq. Turkey has asked us and Iraq to destroy PKK bases or they would go in there and do it themselves as their patience has run out.

Iraqi Kurdish groups have threatened to resist a Turkish incursion. If U.S. forces -- who are stretched thin across Iraq -- take action, they risk alienating Iraqi Kurds, the most pro-American group in the region. If they don't, they risk increased tensions -- and possibly worse -- with two powerful rivals.

Also Saboteurs blew up the two minarets of a revered Shiite shrine in Samarra early Wednesday, in a repeat of the 2006 attack that shattered its famous golden dome and unleashed a wave of retaliatory sectarian violence that still bloodies Iraq. Sunni extremists of Al Qaeda were quickly blamed. There is also evidence that it was an inside job by the Iraqi security force and additional U.S. troops have been asked for to help quell this all.. http://www.cnn.com/...

With Shiite blaming us that of course will make things worse and to top it off we are arming the Sunni's. How callous can Bush be?

Amidst all this and more it would be absolute suicide to set up a permanent Korea style force. The only possible outcome would be annihilation of the forces that were left there unless they were attacked mercilessly, were being overrun, and the American citizens became outraged and demanded retribution. Sound familiar? Bush would sacrifice the troops to get the country behind his desire to stay in the middle of this still just beginning chaos so he can further his new order.

Bush and Israel Pledge Support For Fatah against Hamas, is this the way to Instigate war with Iran?

It is not news that the State Department says the Lebanese government has asked the United States for additional military aid amid the fighting between its forces and Islamic militants near the northern port city of Tripoli. The other day I included that story in my post thinking in terms of Lebanon looking for more military hardware or hundreds of millions more in dollars to fight the battle against Fatah Al-Islam. A headline I saw on Fox that I could not find again really made me think again. It was titled " could the U.S. be pulled into the war in Lebanon" instead of finding that story I found the most disgusting grotesque report I ever read and I will not use it but I will put it in my tip jar. That crap really has to stop!

Anyway Knowing I for one absolutely expect Bush's created fiasco in Iraq and the middle east to spread throughout the entire middle east and Bush and Israel would do their share on their side of this still developing fiasco while Syria, Iran, and other so called Islamist interests would do theirs for their side, I was inclined to give serious thought to whether or not pulling the U.S. into this with Lebanon would be what triggers a total middle east war involving Iran.

I know we are squeezing Iran with The U.S. Navy staging its latest show of military force off the Iranian coastline on Wednesday, sending two aircraft carriers and landing ships packed with 17,000 U.S. Marines and sailors to carry out unannounced exercises in the Persian Gulf.

We are boxing Iran in and sooner or later they are going to revolt. I would say from them capturing Americans and calling them spy's trying to topple their Government that they are also putting pressure on us. At the same time I hear today! Breaking! Just this second I am hearing breaking news that CBS has leaked that the U.S. is taking covert action in Iran. That is not news to us but I don't know if a news station should be announcing that.

Anyway I also just found out that Senior US officials in Washington on Wednesday promised ongoing military support for secular Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas amid his power struggle with Islamist Hamas as part of an $84 million aid package largely aimed at improving the fighting ability of an elite corps of loyalists from his Fatah Party.

Israel, too, is making overtures to Mr. Abbas, reported the Israeli newspaper Haaretz on Wednesday, allowing light arms to flow to members of his Presidential Guard and saying that it would allow some of the US training of his forces to take place in the West Bank.

With all that said and knowing we are accusing Syria of behind behind the killing of Hariri and the funding of Hamas and other so called Islamist interests throughout the middle east, could the U.S. be dragged into this via Israel or are we in it already. Is Lebanon and coming to Israel's aid in Palestine as they worsen relations with Palestine by capturing 33 Hamas Officials the way Bush is going to find his excuse to attack Iran and further what they think will be their new middle east order?

While Palestine Erupts, Iraq and middle east fails, An Important Idea to get info on missing U.S. Troops!

I really want to talk about Bush's successful Democracy as it appears to be erupting in civil war as we said it would just like his other successful Democracy in Iraq. I believe too that I have the way to get our troops back if at all possible, let me know what you think!

An Israeli air strike destroyed a Hamas compound in central Gaza City on Thursday, killing one and wounding at least 45 people. The strike came a day after 22 Palestinians were killed across Gaza City in the most widespread factional fighting in nearly a year between Hamas and Fatah. The raging street battles have turned the densely populated seaside city into a war zone, putting terrified civilians increasingly at risk.

The Israeli army confirmed it carried out the air strike, which came after Israel threatened "harsh" action in response to repeated Palestinian rocket attacks. So far this week, 49 Palestinians have been killed in the factional fighting. The violence has left the fragile Palestinian unity government in tatters, although Fatah and Hamas leaders have said they hope to preserve the coalition. A main goal of the alliance, formed in March, was to halt months of factional violence. But the unity deal never addressed a key area of dispute — control over Palestinian security forces.

Jordan's King Abdullah II said he was "very concerned" by the inter-Palestinian fighting and warned that more violence will follow unless progress is made in the peace process. "I'm very concerned about the violence in Gaza. It must stop for the sake of the Palestinian people and for the sake of Palestine," Abdullah told a gathering of Israeli, Palestinian and Jordanian peace activists. http://www.foxnews.com/...

I hate to be the one to inform King Abdullah but nothing including Bush, the surge, Congress, nothing will stop the total collapse occurring in Iraq and now in Palestine. It will soon engulf the entire middle east and it will not be stopped. It will only get worse from there. Democracy middle east style! So for now I would like to focus on something we can help with and that is the three missing American troops. 

This is important to me as I have 2 sons over there myself and I will be sending this suggestion to my Congressman, Senator Kennedy. We appear to be doing everything possible in order to find the missing troops while failing to do the one thing that would work and I have yet to hear it mentioned as is usually the case today.

As the massive search for three U.S. soldiers feared captured by al-Qaida entered its sixth day Thursday, the military said militants who ambushed their convoy apparently stole the dog tags of one of the four Americans killed in the attack. About 4,000 U.S. troops and 2,000 Iraqis are searching for the three soldiers feared captured by al-Qaida during the ambush, which also killed one Iraqi soldier.

Maj. Gen. Rick Lynch, commander of U.S. troops south of Baghdad, said the U.S. was offering rewards of up to $200,000 for information on the missing soldiers. "We've done so much as to drain canals after a report that the bodies were in a canal," Lynch told The Associated Press. "So we're leaving no stone unturned."

Lynch said he was optimistic the three would be found alive and I wish I shared that optimism. We must continue to search for our missing troops but An al-Qaida front group, the Islamic State of Iraq, has said it captured the U.S. soldiers and warned the Americans in a Web statement on Monday to call off the hunt "if you want their safety." http://www.washingtonpost.com/...

Again we have learned nothing. We will merely succeed in getting more Iraqi's murdered if they try to help us because they have to live there. Haven't we learned that Rewards regardless of how large do not work. The money is not their interest. Safety and practicing their Religion their way is all that is important.

Now tell me what you think about this idea please! I think the Reward is fine but it should be a little larger. The thing that would get more cooperation and results is that coupled with an irrevocable promise of U.S. citizenship and entrance into a Federal Witness Protection Program if our soldiers are returned alive.
