U.S. military intervention in Syria could cost $1b a month: We have spent years trying to get started spending it

 Pentagon: U.S. military intervention in Syria could cost $1b a month:This is the first time that the Pentagon has explicitly laid out the challenges facing the U.S. in its efforts at intervening in the two-year long Syrian civil war. They reflect General Dempsey's acknowledgement that Syrian President Bashar Assad is not necessarily going to be ousted any time soon.

The options include "efforts to train, advise and assist the opposition; conduct limited missile strikes; set up a no-fly zone; establish buffer zones, most likely across the borders with Turkey or Jordan; and take control of Mr. Assad’s chemical weapons stockpile." That my friends is all an act of war.


We have wanted to go after Iran and Syria for years. It is the reason Bush attacked Iraq to get into the middle east. Look at this frigging undeniable set-up!  A Three World War scenario was developed several decades ago (see Conspiratorial History). Two World Wars have already been achieved, and the Third and final World War envisions an attack on Iraq, Iran and/or Syria as being the trigger to set the entire Middle East into fiery conflagration.

Once America is firmly entrenched into the Middle East with the majority of her first-line units, North Korea is to attack South Korea. Then, with America's forces stretched well beyond the limit, China is to invade Taiwan. This will usher in the start of World War Three. north and South Korea, China and Taiwan, you cannot deny this, damn I told you!


  A World War is a military conflict spanning more than 2 continents, in which at least 20 major countries participate in an attack against a common enemy, and which has the attention of the man-in-the-street due to the significant loss of life.

With that definition, we can agree that WW1 and WW2 were in fact World Wars (both wars involved some degree of participation from most of the world's then existing countries: Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United States and the Soviet Union). We can also agree that we are very close to achieving World War 3. The only requirement left to fulfil the start of WW3 is that of a military conflict spanning more than 2 continents. As soon as Israel attacks Palestine, or North Korea attacks South Korea or the US, or China invades Taiwan, we will have the next World War well under way.

The purpose of the group, first announced by Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton a few weeks ago, is to prepare for the aftermath of what leaders from both countries have described as the inevitable fall of President Bashar al-Assad.

Worries about the chemical weapons were also expressed by Russia, the Assad government’s most important foreign supporter.

France backs no-fly zone over Syria, Russia continues cooperation with Damascus: The international community is still divided on ways to solve the Syrian conflict as France indicated Thursday that it would support a partial no-fly zone over Syria while Russia continues close cooperation with the Syrian authorities on energy. French Defense Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian, speaking on France 24 television, called for a partial closure of Syria's air space, as suggested by U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. However, he warned that shutting Syria's entire air space would mean "going to war." Do you think Russia is going to stand still for this?

This is only going to end in a much wider war any way you look at it. It absolutely will not end. It will continue without the direction of Assad. Maybe the Alawite's may no longer be leading it against the Sunni majority and Christian minority but it will continue. Only now the Sunni may be leading it against the Alawite's who will continue to be armed and reinforced by Iran. The Russians will meanwhile have gone nowhere and the big unknown is the large Chinese military contingency in the area.

This is all about the future direction of the entire middle east. The goal absolutely is to be the country who decides which direction the new Middle East (dis)order will take. Both Iran and Saudi Arabia have been using Lebanon and now Syria as their battlefront, up to now they have been able to avoid direct confrontation. Iran has pumped millions of dollars in supplies and arms into Lebanon and Syria much to the consternation of her suffering people while Saudi Arabia has been supporting the Palestinian Authority.

So far there has been no direct confrontation. However I absolutely see what I have been warning about since Bush diverted from Afghanistan to attack Iraq and get back in the middle east to create a new middle east (dis)order! I do not give a damn what anyone says. Bush, Cheney, and their Democratization program in an already historically unstable middle east set all of this and more in motion!

The hell on earth Bush created for Iraqi’s will engulf the entire Middle East before it encompasses the entire world if we can not contain it. Under Bush we broke a long standing tradition of not adding fuel to the Middle East fire by supplying weapons. We are now, including advanced weaponry and missile defense systems. The Middle East breakdown Bush started armed and funded is continuing under Obama. This up to now proxy war in the middle east is under way.

You know I firmly believe and have said so a million times by now that since 9/11 everything was construed to allow Bush to gain the power he needed to prosecute his new order not just in the Middle East but on the entire world! He diverted from Afghanistan to get back into the Middle East with the goal of setting up a larger safety zone for Israel and going after Iran. Both will fail! While Turkey has no desire to interfere in Syria's internal affairs, it has a duty to tell Syria "Enough!" if it puts Turkey's security at risk by fighting its own people and forcing people to flee the country, he said.
Turkey, which has the second-largest army in NATO, said last month it did not want any military intervention in Syria but that it was ready for "any scenario" including setting up a buffer zone inside Syria. Turkey, which has become increasingly critical of its one-time ally, fears an all-out civil war based on sectarian lines in Syria could spill across its borders and spark tensions among Turkey's own people.

I hope Turkey realizes that the elephant in the room is Iran and they are not now and will not in the future stand idly by and allow Syria to fall to Democracy.

Turkey is nearing a military intervention in Syria as Iran says it could target Turkey missile shield and Syria imports Foreign Fighters

Syria faces Arab League sanctions as deadline slips: Turkey's foreign minister said his country would coordinate with the Arab League on imposing sanctions, an indication of the extent to which the international community has lined up to force Assad to end his bloody crackdown on anti-government demonstrators, which has taken the lives of an estimated 3,500 people. Turkey once was considered a close Assad ally.

"There is excellent coordination between Turkey and the Arab League," Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said at a news conference he held with Jordan's foreign minister. "We share every step we make and every position we develop." Davutoglu warned that Syria would be isolated by Turkey, Arab countries and the entire international community if it rejected the Arab proposals, and that Turkey could adopt further measures against the regime.

Turkey seen as door to Syrian "humanitarian corridor": The border wends 800 km (500 miles) eastwards through hilly Turkish terrain, much of it mined. On squat concrete buildings across the valley, the Syrian flag flutters and soldiers clamber over rooftops watching for movement. Villages around are occupied by military.

Al-Wawi points out that the information obtained by the Free Syrian Army says that members of Muqtada al-Sadr group, Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps, Hezbollah, and Amal Movement have started to enter Syria to participate in confronting the demonstrators and those opposing the regime.

Western power has suggested international intervention on the ground in Syria as tanks bombard defectors: Here we go again!

France called on Wednesday for a "securitized zone to protect civilians" in Syria, the first time a major Western power has suggested international intervention on the ground in the eight-month uprising against President Bashar al-Assad. Until now, Western countries have imposed economic sanctions on Syria but have shown no appetite for intervention on the ground in the country, which sits on the fault lines of the ethnic and sectarian conflicts across the Middle East.

Syrian tanks bombard defectors near central town: Activists said around 50 tanks and armored vehicles fired anti-aircraft guns and machineguns into farmland on the edge of Rastan, 20 km (12 miles) north of the restive city of Homs. The town was scene at the end of October of the first major fighting between troops loyal to President Bashar al-Assad and army defectors in the eight-month uprising against his rule.

"The shelling is concentrating on Rastan's western farms. I have called several people who live there and loyalist officers answered their mobile phones instead. They were either killed or arrested," said a resident of the town, who gave his name as Abu Salah. Thousands of soldiers have bolted from the regular army since it started cracking down on an the eight-month popular protest movement to remove Assad.

According to Russian sources, the recent move conveys the message that Moscow will block any NATO-led attack under the guise of “humanitarian intervention,” The Nation reported. Russia has been voicing support for Syria, which it says is currently going through a civil war.

That will leave Iran and Syria to crush this revolt by the people and they will unless the entire majority of the Syrian Army revolts and joins the protesters and their brothers in arms that already have.Syrians are going to have to do this themselves unless WW3 is the goal. I am afraid that, that will be the case once someone gets the war with Iran out in the open. Keeping it from becoming WW3 is the best we can hope for but Russia sending war ships over there makes me wonder.

Arab states, Turkey plan 'No-Fly Zone' over Syria: What are they thinking? Syria is not and will not be another Libya

Turkish premier urges Syrian leader to step down: Erdogan’s call, his first explicit demand for Assad’s resignation, reinforces a Nov. 14 demand from King Abdullah of Jordan for new leadership in Syria, where Assad’s crackdown on eight months of protests has left thousands dead.

He reminded Assad of the bloody end of Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi and those of past dictators, including Adolf Hitler."If you want to see someone who has fought until death against his own people, just look at Nazi Germany, just look at Hitler, at Mussolini, at Nicolae Ceausescu in Romania," he said. "If you cannot draw any lessons from these, then look at the Libyan leader who was killed just 32 days ago." World leaders are turning on Assad in quick succession. The military crackdown on an 8-month-old uprising against Assad's regime has killed nearly 4,000 people.

Arab states, Turkey plan 'No-Fly Zone' over Syria: Senior European sources said that Arab jet fighters, and possibly Turkish warplanes, backed by American logistic support will implement a no fly zone in Syria's skies, after the Arab League will issue a decision, under its Charter, calling for the protection of Syrian civilians.

The sources told Kuwait's al Rai daily that the no fly ban will include a ban on the movement of Syrian military vehicles, including tanks, personnel carriers and artillery, adding that this move would aim at curbing the movement of Assad forces, and cripple their ability to bomb cities. The European sources said the no fly ban might lead to the paralysis of the Syrian regime forces "in less than 24 hours."

We do not seem to be smart enough to realize that Libya was a "one and out situation" Russia and other world leaders who did not agree with our interference stayed on the side lines. You can bet Russia and Iran are not going to sit idly by this time. Syria means too much to both of them.

Bashar killed indiscriminately until he created an armed revolt. Now he has created a civil war which he says he will crush. I am just so sick of all this crap going on here, in the US, and around the world. Sadly it will get much worse as anarchy and world war is our future.

Assad is more unable to rely on the majority Sunni rank and file. It is costing lots of money to move already exhausted core troops and his capability of launching simultaneous strikes on protest centers is diminishing,” a European diplomat said.

Syrian security forces opened fire on Friday on protesters and hunted them down in house-to-house raids, killing about 40 people in the deadliest day in weeks in the country's 7-month-old uprising, activists said.  Much of the bloodshed on Friday happened after the protests had ended and security forces armed with machine guns chased protesters and activists, according to opposition groups monitoring the demonstrations

Syrian Opposition Seeks 'No Fly' Zone: Syrian opposition activists have urged protesters to rally for a "no fly" zone on Friday. The activists made the call on social media sites, saying the flight restrictions are needed to help protect civilians from government forces.

You have to believe that not only is Iran in Syria helping the Bashar Government but Saudi Arabia or Al Qaeda is also there helping the protesters and the military advocating secession and helping to defeat the Bashar Government.

This is going to be a long tough fight because Iran will not allow a possible anti Iran regime change in Syria nor it seems will Russia and China. You would think that after Gaddafi's brutal death Bashar Al-Assad would take heed but he does not have to as China and Russia support his brutality to protect their interests and the old order.

Again: You know, I am thinking about all that is happening today in the United States and more pointedly around the entire world not just in North Africa and the Middle East and I am reminded of something we were told right after 9/11 and that was that this is a new volatile world we live in today and we must act accordingly. When I was a kid I learned "adapt, overcome, and move ahead successfully" We are not doing that, once again we have failed to take our own good advice.

This is not the 20th century. The times they are a changing and we must be smart enough to change with them or be trampled. WW 3 we do not want, it is not survivable for us or the planet with the awesome destruction of today's weapons. Just looking at the two telling links above I realized Russia and the United States are playing the same old power and control games instead of realizing this is a new world and like it or not we must adapt with it or destroy it.

Now China feels emboldened to play a role in pushing her desires on the "Arab Spring" too and this is all a recipe for disaster. The US can no longer stand by Israel blindly. Unless Israel realizes like it or not it is time for a 2 state solution to allow us to progress through the 21 century in this new world not the old one those in control are trying to hold on to.

Likewise it is wrong for Russia and China to embolden Syria and defend their Brutality in order to protect their selfish old interests. Like it or not we must let go. We the current powers are creating more problems not solving them. We must step back and let the baby be born. We can not have things the way we want. We must realize that instead of using weapons to try and have our way.

We must let the chips fall where they may then pick up what we can, adapt, overcome, and move forward successfully hopefully. The US is in trouble, Europe is in trouble, the Middle East is in trouble, the entire world is in trouble unless we wake up, stop trying to interfere with it, and help put together whatever is left.
