As more Afghan troops turn on coalition, report details distrust, resentment on both sides: At a NATO summit, President Barack Obama and other world leaders Monday affirmed plans to gradually withdraw foreign forces from Afghanistan, handing over security responsibility to Afghan troops next year. The agreement comes as the relationship between U.S. and Afghan soldiers is at an all-time low. The coalition began a study of afghan attacks on U.S. allies after six American soldiers were killed during a joint patrol in 2010.

The report was finished last year, but was quickly classified. CBS News correspondent Allen Pizzey, reporting from Kabul, has some details of what it says. The murder of U.S. troops by Afghan soldiers they train and fight with is "a growing systemic threat" according to a coalition report issued last May. Since then, the number if attacks has increased. At least 55 American troops have been killed since July 2010. More than 75 percent of the incidents happened in the last two years.

Their bodies are due to be flown back to the UK on Thursday. Their deaths mean 12 British service personnel have now been killed in the country since 2009 in "green on blue" attacks, where members of the Afghan security forces have opened fire on international allies.

American service member killed in latest attack by Afghan soldier: In the latest in an accelerating series of "insider" attacks, an Afghan soldier turned his weapon on U.S. troops Friday, killing one American and wounding two others, Afghan and U.S. officials said. The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack.

Similar assaults have caused the deaths of at least 21 NATO troops this year, and wounded an undisclosed number of others. The incident is under investigation and comes a day after an attacker wearing an Afghan army uniform shot and killed a U.S. service member in eastern Kunar province.

Saturday's shooting brings the number of incidents - in which Afghan soldiers or insurgents disguised as soldiers fired on coalition forces - to 16 this year alone.
Separately, four more coalition troops were killed Saturday in three separate incidents in southern Afghanistan.

Afghans to take more control from NATO: Karzai: Afghan President Hamid Karzai on Sunday announced a new transfer of security control from NATO that will see local forces take responsibility for 75 percent of Afghanistan's population. Kapisa province, where French troops are based, will be among 11 provinces to come under Afghan control, a statement from the president's office said. It is the third phase of the transition of military control in the war-torn country and another step towards the withdrawal of 130,000 US-led NATO troops by the end of 2014.

Panetta Seeks Afghan Combat End in 2013 With France in Line: U.S. Defense Secretary Leon Panetta will seek to pull France back in line today and prevent the 50- nation NATO-led coalition in Afghanistan from fracturing by offering a plan to end the coalition’s primary combat role starting in mid-2013.

Attending his second Brussels meeting of NATO defense ministers since taking office in July, Panetta told reporters traveling with him that the coalition would shift primarily to advising Afghan forces by the end of 2013. The decision establishes a milestone for leaders of the North American Treaty Organization, who in Lisbon in 2010 called for transferring security responsibility nationwide to Afghan forces by the end of 2014.

I do not care what they say. If they are training Afghan troops they are in Combat. We must get out altogether, call it a day and do not look back. Pakistani authorities had netted Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, the movements second in command, as well as Maulavi Abdul Kabir, a prominent commander in charge of insurgent operations in eastern Afghanistan, and Mullah Muhammad Younis.

Pakistan has also captured several other Afghan members of the leadership council called the Quetta Shura. These include: Mullah Abdul Qayoum Zakir, who oversees the movement’s military affairs, Mullah Muhammad Hassan, Mullah Ahmed Jan Akhunzada, and Mullah Abdul Raouf. At least two Taliban shadow provincial governors, who are part of the movement’s parallel government in Afghanistan, have also been captured.

Pakistan has done a hell of a job of late. Our drone attacks seem to be pretty effe4ctive of late. These attacks have been very effective the last 6 months. The increased use of the Predator drone and Pakistan's increased military forays have made it a tough life for Taliban and Al Qaeda. Al Qaeda has abandoned their so called code of conduct and are increasingly hitting military targets but targeting and killing civilians in order to turn them against the Government.

That will not happen, they know Sharia law would be forced on them and they do not want to live in a penal colony. In closing the message requesting help and guidance from Obama tells me he is still alive and must be in the tribal areas being protected by the tribes. We will not get him unless we start a major war. These people will never sacrifice their Islamic messiah.
