First valid concern voiced from Snave in response to yesterday's post: Lately I have also been wondering about where this is all headed. The Wall Street "crisis" seems an awful lot like "9-11" and the Iraq run-up to me, in that we once again have Bush saying "pass this legislation NOW, or everything will collapse". Back then it was with the Patriot Act and with the Iraq invasion, now it is with this "bailout". The first couple of times, people fell for it left and right. We got stuck with the Patriot Act, and we know how civil liberties have suffered with that one... and how we got stuck with the creation of DHS, the biggest expansion of government in our history, which has cost billions, with arguable worth. The Iraq invasion was authorized, and it has cost our country billions more dollars and has lost us many allies around the world. Both the Patriot Act and the Iraq War have not only cost billions, they have also been used to concentrate more power in the Executive Branch...
So now Bush comes at us with a proposal which would put Paulson in charge of all the money, with no chance of anyone asking him questions or getting him into court for any reason? Sounds like a "money czar" to me. Sounds like even more concentration of power, and all this concentration of power in the executive branch is unconstitutional, and therefore is impeachable. People are now used to the invasiveness of the pernicious Patriot Act, and people are used to us being at war... gee, now that our short-attention-spanned nation is comfortably numb again, is it time to introduce some new noxious garbage to further cement the administration's control over us all? Looks like it to me. If this "bailout" crap doesn't get the job done for the neocons, I think you're right Jim. I'm thinking these people are going to do just about whatever they can to stay in office, or at the very least, to see that their protégé gets elected.
If it looks like McCain is going to lose the election, I would consider the odds to be even that we will see the elections suspended. If they let the elections go on and Obama wins, look for some kind of international catastrophe between November 4 and January 20 that will provide the administration with reason to enact Order 51. Then nobody would know what was really going on, because there would undoubtedly be a crackdown on the media to the point that it became something akin to what the USSR had for decades. America sort-of elected Bush the first time, and then I think actually DID elect him the second time... how did that happen? Were we as a nation still too numb after "9-11", too susceptible to the Republican fear mongering? I think McCain is a power-crazy loon... and don't get me started on Sarah Palin.

I was happy to hear this morning that the white house talks last night erupted and broke doen because of the concervatives in the Republican party as McCain injected Presidential politics in this made a mess of his campaign as McCain rode in to save the day and created a total mess Russia has had enough and as we have been saying for quite a while and is arming and rallying the world behind them to take Bush on!

His visit comes as Russian warships sail to the Caribbean Sea for joint exercises with the Venezuelan navy, and shortly after two Russian Tupolev-160 strategic bombers returned to Russia from a brief training visit to the South American nation. Russian relations with the U.S. have soured over Russia's war with U.S. ally Georgia last month. Venezuela is leading a drive to push back historic U.S. influence in Latin America.
Venezuela spent $4.4 billion on 12 contracts for Russian weapons from 2005-2007, the Kremlin said. These include deals to buy 100,000 Kalashnikov rifles, 50 military helicopters and 24 Su- 30 jet fighters, according to a U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency report. Weapons Sales Russia is now in talks to sell air defense systems, armored personnel carriers and new-generation Su-35 fighter jets due to start production in 2010, the Kommersant newspaper reported on Sept. 18, citing state industrial holding company Russian Technologies chief Sergei Chemezov. Venezuela's insistence on getting credit toward buying these weapons, as well as Russian diesel submarines that it is seeking, had been holding up the negotiations, Kommersant said.
Venezuela's defense budget has more than tripled since 2000 to 7.12 billion bolivars ($3.3 billion) in 2008, according to the National Budget Office. Chavez's biggest purchases came in 2006. In that year alone, he signed deals for $3.1 billion in weapons. Russia agreed to establish a factory in Venezuela for the production of both AK-103 assault rifles and 7.62mm ammunition for more than $500 million, according to a report by the U.S. Congressional Research Service. Chavez, who last visited Russia in July, has called the country the guarantor of a ``multipolar world.'' The decisions show that Bush still commands when and how troops will withdraw, despite a Congress that fiercely opposes him and a soured American public. In all, about 8,000 U.S. forces will be coming back, the president said. One Marine battalion, numbering about 1,000 troops, will go home on schedule in November and not be replaced. An Army brigade of between 3,500 and 4,000 troops will leave in February. Accompanying that combat drawdown will be the withdrawal of about 3,400 support forces over next several months. Senior defense officials say Bush is adopting a compromise from his military team. more misleading placating Lies!

I was going to discuss the rapidly approaching Forever war with Russia making rocket deals with Jordan and Syria along with the explosion in Georgia derailing ten train cars due to a Russian mine and one of our Battle ships armed to the teeth arriving in the Black Sea with Emergancy supplies.
