ALEPPO has been shaken by the heaviest fighting of an almost three-month offensive against rebels in Syria's second city, residents said, as the insurgents lost ground in the capital Damascus. Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, in yet another broadside against Syria, meanwhile, said President Bashar al-Assad should be replaced by Vice President Faruq al-Shara, whom he said "is a man of reason".

The rebels took control of the three-storey white building, around 1 km (mile) from the border on a hill overlooking the Turkish village of Guvecci on Saturday, and raised the flag of the Free Syrian Army, villagers said. The exchanges are the most serious cross-border violence in the Syrian conflict, which began as pro-democracy protests but has evolved into a civil war with sectarian overtones. They highlight how the crisis could destabilize the region.

Assad's cousin, Housam, captured by opposition brigade: Assad’s cousin was arrest by al-Farouq brigade of the Free Syrian Army (FSA), Sheikh Adnan Al Arour, a Sunni Muslim preacher and a major Salafist leader in Syria, announced on his Twitter account Sunday. “Housam al-Assad, the cousin of dog Bashar has been captured by al-Farouq Brigade and brought him in like a pig, so that you know, oh Russia and Iran who the Syrian people are,” Sheikh Arour said. The sheikh has become one of the Syrian uprising’s symbolic figures and a source of motivation for those who aspire for ousting the regime of President Al Assad in Syria.

 Syrian state TV says soldiers have clashed with two armed groups that infiltrated from Lebanon, killing several of them. The clashes took place in the suburbs of the central city of Homs, which is near the border. Syrian forces chased the groups back into Lebanon, the TV reported on Sunday.

Tehran pulls unit as Syria row grows: IRAN has withdrawn 275 members of a covert operations unit from Syria as it faces an economic crisis at home and bitter criticism about the cost of its support for President Bashar al-Assad. The men belong to a brigade known as Unit 400, part of Iran's elite Quds (Jerusalem) force, which has fought alongside Assad's security apparatus against Sunni rebels. They flew out of Syria last week, according to a Western intelligence source, whose information was confirmed by a relative of a Unit 400 officer.

Iran is now in trouble in its own regard at home because of sanctions. Ahmadinejad says the sanctions do not bother Iran but people rioting in the streets and Iran pulling the Quds force out of Syria say Iran is hurting. Lebanon is now having its own problems with the war encroaching on its borders and conflict arising between Hamas and Hezbollah.

Russia is increasingly isolated in its support of Bashar Al Assad in fact Russia at this point is his only support. Arabs and the west are increasingly emboldened to help the rebels and the free Syrian army defeat Assad. Assad at this point looks like he is going down. Even his family is fleeing. Mentioning that has anyone heard about his wife as to her whereabouts?

We have to wonder what is going to happen when Assad falls. Will he use his Chemical weapons and blow this wide open. After what Russia has done to the Syrian people there is no way in the short or long term I can see the rebels allowing Russia to stay in country at all. A new Syria is not going to be allied with Iran so how will this affect Iran beyond further alienation?

This has turned into sectarian warfare! 

You have to be very concerned about what is happening in Syria. I still have a problem believing Russia, China, and Iran are  going to allow Syria to fall to Democracy. What we saw after the voter fraud in Iran was mild compared to what the IRG will do if this movement spreads to Iran. I really wish Bashar would step down but Iran is the elephant in the room any way you look at it. The total middle east breakdown we have written about numerous times is well under way. We can only hope we keep it from erupting into WW3.

In closing: You know Putin just got himself reelected as President, he did this so he could be at the helm of Russia as he like me knows 100% that world war is our future. He plans on marshaling China who is rapidly building a more formidable military and whoever he can to take on US hegemony.Russia watched helplessly as we had our way in Libya. Putin blames what is happening in Syria on our interference and Libya for training the protesters to fight against Bashar Al-Assad.

Putin is going to do everything possible to keep us from helping the Syrian people and I really feel for them. I do not see this going down the way Libya did and Iran and Russia are going to make sure it does not. I am afraid the Syrian people are going to be sacrificed, sacrificed in what is merely an opening salvo in this the wars for future dominance. I just heard that Russia is gathering forces to go into Iran via Armenia for a quick strike through Georgia. We have a showdown setting up that looks disastrous for the worlds future. It will be a miracle if we can keep this from turning into WW3!
