About time she did something right! Pelosi killing new world order Columbia Free trade Deal! just what we need in Bush's failing economy!

About time she did something right! Pelosi killing new world order Columbia Free trade Deal! just what we need in Bush's failing economy another failed agreement!

President Bush stepped up pressure Monday on Congress to approve a controversial free-trade pact with Colombia, saying the deal is "dead" unless House Speaker Nancy Pelosi schedules a vote. After a meeting with his Cabinet, Bush said it's not in America's interest to "stiff an ally" like Colombia. Bush sent the agreement to Capitol Hill earlier this month, but the House, led by Democrats, decided to eliminate a rule forcing a vote on the deal within 60 legislative days. The House's decision probably kills consideration of the Colombia agreement this year, leaving it for the next administration.

"This free trade agreement is in our national interests," Bush said. Yet that bill is dead unless the speaker schedules a definite vote. This was an unprecedented move. It's not in our country's interests that we stiff an ally like Colombia and that we don't encourage our goods and services to be sold overseas.( He means not in his interest)" Pelosi, D-Calif., who initiated the rules change, blames Bush for submitting the agreement before a consensus was reached with congressional leaders on outstanding differences. She has said that whether the agreement is dead for the year depends on the good faith of negotiations between Democrats and the White House.

The president, Pelosi said Monday at a news conference, has demonstrated again "how out of touch he is with the concerns of America's working families." Responding to Bush's charges she had stiffed an ally, she said that "for seven long years the president's economic policies have stiffed" the American people. Bush has staked out free trade as one of his chief economic legacies, winning a bruising battle to implement the Central American Free Trade Agreement with six countries in Latin America as well as a number of individual pacts. While two other agreements with Panama and South Korea are also pending, analysts said the Colombia agreement is likely to be the last one that has any chance of winning approval in Bush's last year in office.

The administration insisted the deal would be good for the United States economically because it would eliminate high barriers that U.S. exports to Colombia now face, while most Colombian products are already entering the United States duty-free under existing trade preference laws. Trade also is shaping up as a key issue in the presidential campaign and in the fight for control of Congress. The administration charged that Democrats were forsaking a key South American ally while Democrats said Colombia needed to do more to halt the violence against union organizers before they would consider the trade pact. In explaining their opposition, Democrats have cited the continued violence against organized labor in Colombia and differences with the administration over how to extend a program that helps U.S. workers displaced by foreign competition. Bush Says Colombia Trade Deal 'Dead' Unless Pelosi Schedules Vote

Heritage Foundation: America Loses by Changing the Rules on Trade: Where the hell is this success they're talking about? Pelosi’s sudden desire to change the rules on trade agreements carelessly throws into doubt a process that has brought unprecedented economic prosperity to millions of Americans — and billions more worldwide. I don't get it? At issue: the proposed free-trade agreement with Colombia. President Bush, concerned that Congress would adjourn this year without acting on the agreement, formally sent the pact to the lawmakers April 8. This, in turn, started a 90-day clock for an up-or-down vote. The next day, Pelosi announced that the House of Representatives would void that timetable, likely delaying a vote on the Colombia deal until after the presidential election in November. The California Democrat vowed to set aside the "fast track" guarantee of the Trade Promotion Authority, under which the U.S.-Colombia agreement was concluded. Regrettably, the House on April 10 agreed 224-195, mostly along party lines.

Before that vote, AFL-CIO President John Sweeney had quickly praised Pelosi’s move, saying, "We applaud her for taking decisive action to reassert congressional authority over trade." But changing the rules in the middle of the game strikes at the integrity of the process, which includes elaborate international negotiations and much hard bargaining with foreign governments. If this maneuver stands, U.S. trade negotiators will have a far harder time persuading counterparts in other nations that they can deliver congressional approval of negotiated terms — even if Congress awards a future president renewed fast-track authority. Americans should expect far less favorable trade deals, as foreign negotiators lose faith that the United States will uphold our end and thus make fewer concessions of their own.

The beauty of the fast-track procedures — and the up-or-down vote within 90 says was a key provision — is that they provide an incentive for both sides to get to their bottom lines. Congress already had dealt another blow to the process last year, when it insisted on renegotiating trade agreements with Peru, Colombia, Panama and South Korea to insert or "improve" provisions on labor and the environment. The Bush administration complied, raising eyebrows among trade negotiators around the world as they sensed core principles crumbling beneath their feet. Pelosi’s rules change could signal the end for the World Trade Organization. Its demise undoubtedly would be met with glee by the AFL-CIO, where Sweeney and other leaders seized on international trade as a convenient, if false, explanation for the union’s declining membership and influence. The AFL-CIO’s remaining grip on the Democratic Party apparently remains strong enough to insist that the rest of the economy share in the decline of Big Labor. Heritage Foundation: America Loses by Changing the Rules on Trade, Good!

Good! Not only can Iraq not survive any more of Bush's success, The middle east can not survive any more of his success. The world can not survive any mores of Bush's success. The average American can not survive any more of his so called success as most of us are just starting to feel. Look at a few of his past "successful Free Trade Agreements: What? Pelosi will doom our economy without another failed trade deal!

* This is the same workforce whose jobs are leaving America faster than we can calculate due to the unreliable dollar, NAFTA, CAFTA, The Columbian and Korean trade deals, our governments failure to make Mexico, our neighbor, the ally we have worked so hard at making other distant countries, our ten trillion dollar debt, and an utter failure in leadership by President Bush and the Republican Congress and Senate who helped him execute and carry out this litany of grand failures in leadership, the looting of our U.S. Treasury and the grossly failed attempt to privatize the Federal Government. How dare Pelosi Doom this success! Congratulations!

Chavez primed for war, Neighbors cut ties with Columbia who calls for charges against Chavez as ties cut and Diplomats are sent home!

I just heard Bush offering Columbia his full support. Just what does that mean? As the situation in South America continues to spiral to war I just want to remind you that yes the entire world is erupting but things are a lot more volatile right here in our own backyard than most realize. First I want to reiterate what we have discussed many times as to the dangers in our own backyard even as the remainder of the world continues to erode much in thanks to bush's meddling! Russia building Venezuela Refineries, China Building Mexican ports, North American Union, what about the myriad of problems in our own backyard?I know we have much to be paying attention to and be concerned with around the world. Most of it is due to Bush. However as I have written many times about Chavez's hate for Bush and America and watching their ever growing connections with Iran, China, and Russia, I am becoming increasingly concerned about what is happening right here in our own backyard while our attention seems to be everywhere but in our own backyard. Recent developments showcase a march to war there to.

In the past we have discussed We have Russia building up to 13 refineries in Venezuela. Very interesting as Iran is experiencing gas shortages and riots as a result of a lack of refineries. Anyway Venezuela has to build four refineries to process heavy crude from fields in the Orinoco Belt and is considering establishing a joint venture with Russia to satisfy these goals, Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez said during a business conference at the Russian Federation Chamber of Commerce."Orinoco, where Lukoil is now working, there are demonstrated reserves of 300 billion tons of heavy crude in two new fields," Chavez said. "Therefore we have decided to build four refineries, and in the future, accounting for the interests of countries in the Caribbean region, 13 refineries altogether."

Chavez said that at present, Venezuela is considering establishing a joint venture with Russia in pursuit of these aims. He said that Bolivia, Ecuador, Peru and other South American countries could also found such ventures. they will build a pipeline to Argentina and buy $5 Billion worth of equipment figuring why not Russia?I have learned that China is funding and clandestinely building ports in Mexico. Lázaro Cárdenas is home to a deep-water seaport that handles container, dry bulk, and liquid cargo. involvement by Russia, China, Iran, and others is much more than this. This just scratches the surface and UI invite you to read yesterdays conversation of What is at stake in South America

As this continues to spiral towards more war and right at our damn doorstep I am getting increasingly concerned with this but also the wars continuing to develop unabated around the world! As you know by now President Hugo Chavez ordered tanks and thousands of troops on Sunday to the border with Colombia, accusing it of pushing South America to the brink of war by killing a top rebel leader on Ecuadorean soil. Denouncing Colombia's slaying of the rebel commander in a cross-border raid into Ecuador, Chavez said Venezuela will respond militarily if Colombia violates its border. He ordered Venezuela's embassy in Bogota closed.
Ecuador's president, Rafael Correa, also ordered troops to the Colombian border, withdrew his government's ambassador from Bogota and ordered Colombia's top diplomat expelled.• Click here for video. "There is no justification," Correa said Sunday night, snubbing an earlier announcement from Colombia that it would apologize for the incursion by its military. Venezuela and Ecuador want to fight

Once again it is everyone else's fault and no one wants to talk. They want to fight to get their way! Colombian President Alvaro Uribe says he will ask the International Criminal Court to bring genocide charges against President Hugo Chavez of Venezuela. He accused Mr. Chavez of sponsoring and financing Colombian Farc rebels. Venezuela denies the charge. Colombian officials say a laptop found during a raid on a Farc camp held files indicating Venezuela gave Farc $300m. Colombian forces entered Ecuador to raid the camp, provoking furious protests and a diplomatic crisis. "Colombia proposes to denounce the president of Venezuela, Hugo Chavez, in the International Criminal Court for sponsoring and financing genocide," Mr. Uribe said. Venezuela and Ecuador have broken off ties with Colombia and moved troops to the Colombian border. Columbia wants charges against Chavez

It is just sickening because as with Bush it is everyone else's fault but their own. The truth is what they want to know so they can get what they want. You can not trust anyone today period! Ecuador has cut diplomatic ties with Colombia in a deepening crisis over a cross-border raid by Colombian troops. Venezuela also said it was expelling all Colombian diplomats in the wake of the raid, which killed senior Farc rebel Raul Reyes and 16 others. Venezuela and Ecuador have deployed troops to their borders amid calls for restraint led by the head of the UN. Ecuador said the raid had scuppered a possible deal to free French-Colombian Farc hostage Ingrid Betancourt.

President Rafael Correa said his government had been in "very advanced" talks to release the ex-Colombian presidential candidate, who has been held for six years, and other Latin American powers including Chile, Mexico and Brazil have offered to mediate in the dispute. An emergency meeting of the Organization of American States will be held on Tuesday to discuss the crisis. Farc - the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia - has been fighting for more than four decades with the declared aim of a fairer wealth distribution in Colombia. Neighbors cut ties with Columbia

* We should be used to this by now but that is absolute BS! This has been going on for 40 years and Columbia's Presidential candidate has been held for more than 6 years. As you can see, this threatens to embroil all of South America as for now Latin American powers including Chile, Mexico and Brazil have offered to mediate in the dispute. however no offers will be taken as escalation is the desire he too! Diplomacy is not desired here any more than it is in the middle east or anywhere else in the world. In this race to future war the entire world seems prepared to fight to have what they think will be there way in the future. No one will have their way! No one will be happy! Again I will say they all fail to realize that people, weapons, and the planet are too advanced to survive what is about to happen and still have a life sustaining Planet. I will say again, we cannot be this stupid and it seems that some just want to fight but some just seem bent on bringing about "The End Of Days"

Venezuela threatening war with Bush ally Columbia after Chavez ally killed in cross border raid to Ecuador, troops moved to border in preparation...

The port handled 160,000 TEU in 2005 but is expanding to a capacity of 2.2 million TEU annually. Cargo is moved to and from the port by road and rail equally, with rail service provided exclusively by Kansas City Southern Railway. The port is expected to become a major container facility due to congestion at the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach and its relative proximity to major cities such as Chicago, Kansas City, and Houston. LA and Long Beach ports handle 6.7 million TEU and 3.8 million and they are very congested. Due to a lot of reasons, they can't expand as you can see, the Mexican port is not to replace the US ports, (it couldn't) but to add more ports so we get more crap we don't need from China. Also there are plans for another deep water port in Baja. A Los Angeles firm, fronting for Chinese and Korean concerns, is lobbying the Mexican government to be granted permission to build a $1 billion dollar port in the agricultural area of Punta Colonet, 150 miles south of Tijuana.

There has been tremendous growth in the region over the last 5 years. Meanwhile because of warmonger Bush I don't know if we are a real threat to Venezuela or not but we have Chavez preparing for war. In the past we have also noted President Hugo Chavez urged soldiers to prepare for a guerrilla-style war against the United States, saying that Washington is using psychological and economic warfare as part of an unconventional campaign aimed at derailing his government. Declaring that it is not just armed warfare, Under Chavez, Venezuela has recently purchased some $3 billion worth of arms from Russia, including 53 military helicopters, 100,000 Kalashnikov rifles, 24 SU-30 Sukhoi fighter jets. Last week, Chavez said he is considering arms purchases, including submarines and a missile-equipped air defense system, as he prepared for his tour of Russia, Belarus and Iran. It gets much deeper

While all this is going on in our own backyard we have tied the America's closer together, Chinese and Russian interests have increased dangerously, and South America too is threatening to explode. Great timing!

President Hugo Chavez ordered tanks and thousands of troops on Sunday to the border with Colombia, accusing it of pushing South America to the brink of war by killing a top rebel leader on Ecuadorean soil. Denouncing Colombia's slaying of the rebel commander in a cross-border raid into Ecuador, Chavez said Venezuela will respond militarily if Colombia violates its border. He ordered Venezuela's embassy in Bogota closed.

Ecuador's president, Rafael Correa, also ordered troops to the Colombian border, withdrew his government's ambassador from Bogota and ordered Colombia's top diplomat expelled. "There is no justification," Correa said Sunday night, snubbing an earlier announcement from Colombia that it would apologize for the incursion by its military. Chavez called the killing of rebel leader and spokesman Raul Reyes and 16 other rebels on Saturday an attack by a "terrorist state." "Mr. Defense Minister, move 10 battalions to the border with Colombia for me, immediately — tank battalions. Deploy the air force," Chavez said during his weekly TV and radio program. "We don't want war, but we aren't going to permit the U.S. empire, which is the master of Columbia to divide us!

Correa said Colombia deliberately carried out the strike beyond its borders. He said the rebels were "bombed and massacred as they slept, using precision technology." The Ecuadorean leader said Colombia violated Ecuador's airspace when it bombed the rebel camp, which the Colombian military said was located 1.1 miles from the border. Colombian officials have long complained that Ecuador's military does not control its sparsely populated border, allowing rebels to take refuge. The same holds true for Venezuela, where rebel deserters say the guerrillas routinely rest, train, obtain medical care and smuggle drugs. Chavez denies that his country provides refuge to the FARC. In a statement, Colombia said FARC "terrorists" including Reyes "have had the custom of killing in Colombia and taking refuge in the territory of neighboring countries." Colombia's police commander Gen. Oscar Naranjo said documents from a computer seized where Reyes was killed suggested Ecuador's president is deepening relations with the FARC. The two documents, copies of which were obtained independently by The Associated Press, were apparently written by Reyes in the past two months and addressed to the high command of the FARC. An Ecuadorean government spokesman called the Colombian claims a lie. Hear both sides and you decide what's the truth

Colombia said on Sunday documents found in a camp in Ecuador where Colombian troops killed a top guerrilla boss showed ties between the FARC rebels and Ecuadorean President Rafael Correa, including contacts about political proposals and local military commanders. FARC rebel commander Raul Reyes was killed inside Ecuador in an army operation that has fueled tensions between Washington ally Colombia and neighbors Venezuela and Ecuador, where leftist leaders are fiercely opposed to U.S. proposals.Police Commander Gen. Oscar Naranjo said documents found in computers belonging to Reyes showed contacts between a Correa government minister, Gustavo Larrea, and the FARC commander to discuss political proposals and projects on the frontier. "The questions raised by these documents need concrete answers," Naranjo said. "What is the state of relations between Ecuador's government and a terrorist group like the FARC." But Ecuador's Interior Minister Fernando Bustamante dismissed the accusations as false and Venezuela called the announcement an attempted smear campaign against Correa, an ally of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez. "We are not going to accept such a thing," Bustamante said. "It is very easy to say something based on evidence that has not been scrutinized publicly or internationally." Once again facts support both sides
Personally I am sick and tired of this lying. As far as I am concerned Bush has set the standard for it, a new low. It is now the norm and it is not only followed at home but in events and countries around the world. Sadly right here in our own backyard as the world unites to confront Bush and his supporters. I know there is evidence to support Columbia's actions but I can not trust that it was not planed by the US or our interests. All I can be assured of is that this region too will be embroiled in Bush's still developing forever war!

Columbia U. President Called Ahmadinejad petty and cruel, I agree but this sounded like a Bushie setup!

I was preparing another story for today but got caught up in the speech AhmadiNejad was allowed to give at Columbia University. I couldn't understand why he was allowed to speak there in light of the tit for tat between him and Bush. After I listened to the President Lee Bollinger introduce him with mass insults I understood why AhmadiNejad was allowed to speak and why Bush didn't mind. It was a Bushite setup! AhmadiNejad sounded ridiculous to me and that had to be the obvious intention of President Bollinger. Can anyone tell me his Political party?
Anyway Iranian President Mahmoud AhmadiNejad took the stage at Columbia University to a blistering reception from the president of the school, who said the hard-line leader behaved like "a petty and cruel dictator." AhmadiNejad smiled as Columbia President Lee Bollinger took him to task over Iran's human-rights record and foreign policy, and AhmadiNejad's statements denying the Holocaust and calling for the disappearance of Israel.
"Mr. President, you exhibit all the signs of a petty and cruel dictator," Bollinger said, to loud applause. He said AhmadiNejad's denial of the Holocaust might fool the illiterate and ignorant. "When you come to a place like this it makes you simply ridiculous," Bollinger said. "The truth is that the Holocaust is the most documented event in human history."

AhmadiNejad rose, also to applause, and after a religious invocation, said Bollinger's opening was: "an insult to information and the knowledge of the audience here." Myself as you know, I do not agree with Bush's stance in any instance but I felt myself agreeing largely with Bollinger and felt AhmadiNejad sounded like a fool defending the indefensible and really harmed the cause of the Iranian people, not that they matter any more than we do.
"There were insults and claims that were incorrect, regretfully," AhmadiNejad said, accusing Bollinger of falling under the influence of the hostile U.S. press and politicians. "I should not begin by being affected by this unfriendly treatment," he said.

He did not address Bollinger's accusations directly, instead launching into a long religious discursion laced with quotes with the Quran before turning to criticism of the Bush administration and past American governments, from warrantless wiretapping to the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
Bollinger was strongly criticized for inviting AhmadiNejad to Columbia, and had promised tough questions in his introduction to AhmadiNejad's talk. But the strident and personal nature of his attack on the president of Iran was startling. "You are either brazenly provocative or astonishingly uneducated," Bollinger told AhmadiNejad about the leader's Holocaust denial. "Will you cease this outrage?" I'm telling you I am no fan of AhmadiNejad's but this was a setup.
AhmadiNejad said he simply wanted more research on the Holocaust, which he said was abused as a justification for Israeli mistreatment of the Palestinians. Why is it that the Palestinian people are paying the price for an event they had nothing to do with?" AhmadiNejad asked. He closed his prepared remarks with a terse smile, to applause and boos, before taking questions from the audience. Sounded like a Bushie set up

I have to say, AhmadiNejad's reasoning for research into the validity of the Holocaust was absurd and ridiculous. When questioned AhmadiNejad finally agreed that the Holocaust did happen but that didn't mean you shouldn't continue to research it. I would agree if he was talking why the frame of mind that allowed it but AhmadiNejad is arguing for fools.
He foolishly said we still debate God so why is it wrong to debate and question the Holocaust? To an educated audience he sounded like a fool. We saw the Holocaust first hand. We know it happened. We don't have to wonder. It has been 30 years since I was at Dachau. You could smell the bodies then and I am sure you still can. My father was at Dachau at the end as a liberator. We know it happened!

I did agree with AhmadiNejad when he said that the US and Iran could be useful allies if Bush could put differences aside but you know, they will keep being formed and that will never be allowed. I also liked that he invited Columbia alumni to come speak to Iranian students any time. I also agreed with AhmadiNejad on the use of depleted uranium and the damage it is causing to Iraq and beyond but that was about it. he also highlighted that there has been a Palestinian problem for 60 years and Israel can't solve it. He didn't mention forming the Nation of Israel there after WW2 was the problem and he will not allow there to be peace.

Like Bush he is a master at deception and dodging answering the question. I was pretty surprised when he told us how revered and well treated Women were. However, that statement was put in perspective when he was asked about why he mistreated Gays and he ridiculously said they do not exist in Iran. Whoa! knowing there have been Gays in every society I have to say either Iran kills them or they are still in the closet for fear of?
On another note, Oliver North who I have differing emotions about called the UN a circus. well he may be right but tomorrow Bush the number one bad actor and juggler will be there pushing for his new middle east order. In the end that will never happen either. Bush and AhmadiNejad will see to it that no one will have peace and no one will have their way as they both push for their own version. They will assure war!
